Google
Parking is a disaster. Expect to have to circle round for a very long time before finding a place to park. Very crowded stores.

Collin Martinez

Google
Love this area ! Ralphs, Ace hardware, acima smoothies and midtown tavern were top notch! Love my whole day experience

Google
Love this shopping center. I can find loads of vegan items. Lots of options; Trader Joe's/ Ralph's- nice selection of vegan foods.

Google
Great shopping center has a Ralph’s, Trader Joe’s, places to eat, post office places to work out, you can wash your dog. The parking lot is very busy there seems to be people always pulling out and if you can’t find a parking space there is a garage below.

Google
A great area in Hillcrest when you're looking for a variety. My primary spot to go here is Trader Joe's, and we live just above National City It's interesting to hear the music they play there compared to other places -- always knowing and thinking about what their customers prefer and desire.

Google
This place has lots of stores some of my favorites are Handel's which has some of the best ice cream I've ever had. They also have important businesses like dentist and a grocery store so it's a really good place to go for anything

Google

Yelp
STUPID DRIVERS & CRAPPY PARKERS I've been coming to this plaza for 8yrs and these past 8yrs it's always filled with STUPID drivers. The plaza has back parking, side parking, center parking, and garage parking. My go to grocery stores (Trader Joe's, Ralph's) are here. But every time... many cars that parked with head lights on and stepping on their brakes as if they are planning exit ONLY to be sitting in their cars starring at La-la land like idiots or on their phones. Honking doesn't do justice to get their attention to go. Who taught these people how to park? The parking spots have ample space but people don't know to how park. And the best part... shopping carts lingering around the parking lot - some steps away from a cart return section, people are THAT lazy yet half those people look fit as if they just worked out at Barry's Boot Camp. Anyways... several of the shops at this plaza keep me coming back even with all this noise.

Yelp
Great stores with great service at most of them. A large variety of stores, from dry cleaning to groceries and coffee and fitness.

Yelp
Starburst in one Ralph stores in another around the corner this is one of my favorite places .I don't go here that much anymore Ralph's a little expensive but If can't find anything in the food for the store which is a sister store at the Euclid avenue marketplace I'll go here instead they used to have a Starbucks coffee shop here at one time that one went out of business let me call me she's talking about it inside the grocery store now.

Yelp
The Hub is a great one-stop retail center, with a great selection of modern service retailers. There are several boutique gyms, smoothie bars, restaurants, markets, upscale barbers. Parking was just fine. I got there early. As I was walking through, I was amazed at how clean it was. In LA, every outdoor covered space is a homeless person's "home". I couldn't help but think "This covered corridor is a great campsite for a hoard of homeless people. They don't even need tents!". But reading the other reviews, I can see how the are homeless people infesting the place at times, but from what I saw, it's 1000 times better than anything you'd see in LA. I don't know what the cause or solution is, but mental illness/drug addiction is a terrible epidemic and it's getting out of hand. Bad for everyone involved. Something needs to change here, and it has nothing to do with the Hub. The infestation is everywhere. It's something systemic we need to address. How and what, I have no clue. But it's time. OK I'm getting off my my soap box now. 2 hour parking is a good thing, to keep things moving here. It's free. I'm surprised there isn't metered parking here. Great plaza for a workout, smoothie, a coffee, a haircut, and groceries.

Yelp
Located on University Ave. in Hillcrest, The Hub houses Ralph's, Trader Joe's, and a myriad of shops, restaurants and boutique studios. The parking here is horrendous, extremely tight and provides a deterrent to coming here. Been here a few times and it was hard to find parking, plus we were worried about our car getting dinged. It says parking limit is 2 hrs. here. Minus not 1, but 2 stars for the horrific parking lot! If parking were better I'd give them a higher rating. But come on, whoever designed this center- what were they thinking???

Yelp
Hey I like the Hub, I wish they had one on my side of Hillcrest. Since I watch my GBF's dog when he's at work I bring Lincoln over to socialize him with people and other dogs. They even have a little poop area with fake grass and poops bags. Yass. The more I come here the more I get to know the regulars and there is wifi from Starbucks.

Yelp
I like that people are staying healthy nowadays but the Barry's gym are taking too much space like the parking spot & even the Pet relief area, the Hub complex is a pet friendly place & now dog just crap anywhere because the Barry's block the area where dogs can relieve themselves.

Yelp
The parking lot in this center is a death trap. There is never enough parking and more cars circling looking for parking causing congestion. There are soo many areas where cars almost collide because of the pattern and design. Recently all the people that live in the surrounding area have been parking in the lot taking up spaces for customers. At night time there are tailgate parties with all the people that are going to the bars. Again leaving no parking for the customers. I have had to park several blocks away several times and carry my groceries to my car. Even at 11pm

Yelp
Ralphs, Trader Joe's, Starbucks, gyms... TIP: there's plenty of parking under the Ralphs and also behind the Trader Joes.

Yelp
The escalators have not worked for over a year. Now the one elevator that serves the underground parking area is not working for over a week now. How do they get away with this in regards to ADA?

Yelp
The Hub was nominated for an Onion Award.... http://www.orchidsandonions.org/project/hub/ The "makeover" of the former Uptown District" shopping center (a.k.a. Ralph's shopping center) at 10th & University is apparently working hard at earning an "Onion" award. Mismatched wall murals, some of them outright hideous, a tragic attempt at modern sculpture using bright yellow i-beams sticking out of the cement outside Starbucks, a barely discernible "HUB" logo in white-on-white, all contribute to the feeling of this having been "designed" by an eighth-grader for a science project. Key to uploaded image: 1. White on White signage disappears into the wall 2. Quasi-religious imagery on a bank??? And I didn't notice the wrap-around HUB logo on the upper corner until after I got home. 3. Yellow I-beam "trees" and benches to sit out in the glaring sun. 4. One of the most hideous murals EVER.

Yelp
I was reluctant to review a shopping center but after being assaulted by the design disaster that has been forced on Hillcrest I thought I would at least say a few words. First, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Somebody took an aging shopping center, kicked out some of the best tenants, then vomited a whirlpool of bad design, bad colors, and overall bad taste and then had the nerve to call it the "Hub". I did post my favorite a picture of my favorite sign and this is not photoshopped. The idiots that did this renovation installed a sign so you can only see the first two letters from almost every conceivable angle and it's so perfect. HU? I would be willing to bet $500 that this is the result of somebody's bored wife (or cracked out queen) that wanted to get involved in this project. Someone with absolutely no experience with the use of colors, visual elements, signage, functionality was turned loose on this job and, worst of all, it's a huge eyesore right in the middle of our community. I wish I could meet the person or persons responsible for this visual disaster just so I would know what an alien from another galaxy looked like in person. Nobody from this planet could have been responsible for what happened to the Ralphs Shopping Center. Hub my ass. Flub is a far better description.

Yelp
This is one of those shopping centers where you might find yourself scrambling for a quaalude after you leave. An overbuilt, engineering blight. This congested and claustrophobic shopping villa is hazardous for pedestrians and vehicles alike. The main parking lot is dangerous and dysfunctional with sharp cornered parking aisles that exit out to a field of blind spots. I see fender benders here constantly as well as many close calls with pedestrians. A completely stressful and unpleasant experience. It would greatly benefit the community if this eyesore of a shopping center is gutted and completely redesigned.

Yelp
I love it here, and I hate it here. The Hub offers everything you could want or need, but there needs to be a solution to the parking issues. No one goes slow enough through, and the EV parking spots are always taken. It would be nice to have some more charging stations, and possibly a speed limit sign that's visible. Everyone is zipping through like a go kart otherwise!

Yelp
1 star only bc 0 wasn't an option. This "makeover" was a complete disaster. Nothing cohesive & cheap looking signage. The bizarre artwork looks like something from the inside of a "head shop" circa 1970's. They've been forcing out great neighborhood businesses like Postal Place. And what's with the containers of huge rocks right next all the plate glass windows? HUB sounds like some low rent govt. funded business experiment not part of a vibrant Community. The giant EYE at the exit off the pkng garage is just tacky!

Yelp
This one of the ugliest and ill-designed shopping centers in Hillcrest. When Regency Centers bought this they had a perfect chance to upscale this to a high-end shopping center. Instead, Regency fell short of any concept to design or forthought into color schemes. The overall appearance looks dated and cheap. The artwork is sub-par and lacks any depth in concept or style. Regency Centers continually fails in their upkeep of the property. Homeless defacating in the underground structure, using drugs in the bathrooms and storing their belongs in parking spaces. No wonder this nickname for this place is the HOMELESS URBAN BLOCK (HUB).

Yelp
Parking is a nightmare. It offers a nice variety of shops but parking is definitely an issue. It is a pity.

Franchesca D.

Yelp
The lack of parking has always been an issue at this plaza. So, why take two prime spots, directly in front of Trader Joe's (the busiest store in the plaza) and make them into Chevy-Volt- advertised, charging spaces for electric cars only. Firstly, there is a lack of parking spaces for the disabled community. You could have put charging stations anywhere. Secondly, there were no improvements made in the entire parking lot that addressed safer access for those with mobility issues. No additional ramps, and no designated pedestrian walkways. The parking lot is always like a chaotic free-for-all. You should care about these important, overlooked issues.

Nicole S.

Yelp
I love coming to the HUB. There is tons of parking in the ground level lot as well as a nice covered lot below. There is so much seating in and outside the Starbucks, and I've never had to wait for a table. In addition, NA Pizza is really good, too. They have great salads, and if you call ahead, they'll have your food waiting for you when you get there. If I'm really in a hurry, I'll just grab a Green Ginger juice from Project Juice - YUM! Also, apparently Ike's sandwich shop is going in, and I'm excited to try them out. I'm so glad I discovered this center as my new go-to lunch spot.

Yelp
Besides the obvious bad taste and design, the place has turned into a security nightmare. The place is crawling with homeless people constantly begging, dirtying the area. For two days in a row I witnessed running thieves from Ralphs Grocery store with Employees chasing them. People park next to the patio by Starbucks and unload trash from their trucks and playing load obnoxious music at 8 in the morning. I dont feel safe in the area anymore. Of course theres not a security person to be seen anywhere. There are other places to go for the services I want and pay for that are far more secure and safe. The whole situation is bringing the neighborhood down.
