After attending the St. Patrick's Day parade along Gay Street in downtown Knoxville, my husband and I decided to stop in at this new establishment. At first glance, it's sort of blah...there were a few patrons inside, so we decided to sit at the bar, order a drink and nibble on a snack. We inquired about their draft beers, which were limited. At the least, you should offer a lite, an amber and a dark beer to your customers. They had NO dark beer on draft, I was offered a dark beer in the can or perhaps, a flavored cider. No Thanks! So, I asked if they served wine? Yes, we have red or white. I asked for a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. I was told we don't have a cork screw for the Cabernet, would you like this Pinot Noir instead, it has a twist cap? I said sure, reluctantly... then perused their limited lunch menu. We inquired about their small plates and specifically asked about "Smoke Lobster hush puppies," was told they are absolutely delicious...prepared with wonderful spices and filled with chunks of lobster. So we asked if it's canned imitation lobster or chunks from the claw of the lobster. We were told, the hush puppies are chunks of lobster with very little breading so you're getting mostly claw meat. Okay, we will share an order of that.
While sipping on drinks, someone else's food order was presented to us. Once corrected, to our dismay, there was NO lobster found in any of the hush puppies, as I carefully looked throughout each piece. When asked, "how are the hush puppies" my response...terrible!! They were fried too hard (overcooked) and not an iota of lobster to be found anywhere amongst them. One of the servers admitted she had ordered the hush puppies as well, and was disappointed. She mentioned that our complaint was duly noted and would be passed along to management. Yeah right, I'm not holding my breath.
As we finished our drinks and waited for our bill, the couple sitting next to us complained about their meal being inadequate as well.
I am fully aware that TN is land locked and we are limited to really good seafood, but don't hype your product if you can't deliver. The establishment has been open for three weeks, surely you would think they would have their act together by now. If not, don't open until you're ready and on top of your game.
Based on this experience, I would suggest, you not waste your time or money.
