The Huntington is an absolute gem — peaceful, inspiring, and full of spring energy. The Chinese Garden especially moved me; walking through it felt like stepping into a piece of home. The architecture, the water, the blooming trees — everything whispered nostalgia. It’s one of those rare places that makes you slow down and just breathe.

Great place to visit. Plan to stay for several hours to see it all and take advantage of the free rides within the gardens as there would be lots of walking

The Huntington offers general admission with various discounts and free entry for young children. Their membership programs, priced at different levels, grant members unlimited annual access, special event privileges, and discounts, making it a great way to support the institution while enjoying exclusive benefits. One visit isn't enough. The cactus garden is magnificent. A walk through the gardens is like taking a vacation.

Google
A wonderful garden! My advice: stay away from the crowds in the chinese and Japanese gardens which are of no particular interest to a botanist, and head south to the incredible succulent garden.

Yelp
It never gets boring. No matter which time of the year, the garden has a priceless beauty. I personally like the wilder areas more than the highly architectural ones. Alltogether, this is always a nice showcase to take out-of-town guests, who typically as a little plus indulge in the store at the end of the day. PREVIOUS REVIEW 2 Such a beautiful place, particularly now in the spring when everything starts to blossom. Since my last visit (before Covid), several sections have been expanded, eg the Chinese Garden, and others are under construction. The Huntington remains a super fav! PREVIOUS REVIEW 1 What do the Huntington Library, the beach, and High Sierra (e.g. Mammoth) have in common? The incredible display of nature that make each one of them an irreplaceable ingredient for L.A. quality of life. No matter how full it is, there is always the inevitable peace to rebalance from the day-to-day stress. The richness of conjoined plants with their wilderness, beauty, danger, independence, and durability that spans decades and centuries but observes subtle human-made changes puts many things into perspective. And its beauty is simply relaxing... P.S. ... never regretted the membership ...

Yelp
This was my first time here and it was such a beautiful experience. The garden and museum is huge, and there's so much to see. My favorite garden was the Camelia garden, it had beautiful Italian statues and really reminded me of a garden I visited in Florence, breathtaking. There are also many more like the desert garden with lots of unique cacti, and the Japanese garden and Chinese garden, both very authentic looking. If you want to see beautiful art, feel in touch with nature, and unwind from the outside world, this is the place to go.

Yelp
Honestly, this place is like stepping into a different universe. One second you're in L.A. traffic, the next you're wandering through a Japanese garden wondering if you should quit your job and become a monk. The desert garden? Straight up like being on Mars but with prettier succulents. The rose garden? Let's just say if you don't take at least one Instagram picture there, did you even go? Inside, you've got old manuscripts and art that makes you feel smarter just by being in the same room. ("Yes, that's the Gutenberg Bible. No big deal, just the first mass-printed book ever.") Tips from someone who learned the hard way: * Wear comfy shoes unless you want your Fitbit laughing at you. * Bring water. It's gorgeous but it's a hike. * Plan at least half a day -- you can't speed-date this place. Parking is free (a unicorn in L.A.), staff is lovely, and you'll leave feeling cultured, calm, and slightly smug that you spent your day doing something other than scrolling TikTok. 10/10 would recommend -- bring a date, bring your mom, bring yourself. The Huntington never disappoints.

Yelp
My first visit to The Huntington was many years ago on a free admission day, which used to be the first Thursday of every month. Fast forward to recently, I came across a post on The Huntington's Instagram about the corpse flower. I remembered hearing about one blooming at the Fullerton Arboretum years ago, but I never made it because the timing is so tricky--the bloom only lasts about 24 hours. So when I saw that The Huntington's corpse flower was about to bloom, I immediately reserved a timed ticket for the next morning. I think a lot of people did the same, just to see this rare flower. Parking wasn't the best, but luckily I found a spot. Walking up to the entrance felt familiar, though I didn't really remember much from my first visit. Maps weren't available everywhere, just at certain spots, so I decided to follow the crowd. They had moved the corpse flower into the greenhouse for display, right next to the Children's Garden. By the time I finally got to see it, the smell wasn't too strong--I think I missed the peak hours of that infamous odor. Inside the greenhouse it was very humid, but I enjoyed seeing so many unique and interesting plants. Outside, the weather was hot and there wasn't much shade, so I was relieved to discover the shuttle running counterclockwise around the grounds. I hopped on at Stop 1 near the Children's Garden and rode it to Stop 7, which was the closest to the exit. After my first visit, I got an email that I can use the admission towards the purchase of annual membership, so I did... I got the cheapest membership which I can only bring Kids under 18 years old. Which is fine with me because II have no plan bringing anyone. It had been very hot since I got my membership, so I finally made another visit during the cooler days, decided to start a the desert garden , which I found a lot of different cactus that I had never seen before... that is very intriguing! And I absolutely love it... There is a bag check at the entrance, I think drones and selfie sticks are prohibited but my camera is fine. Not sure if nxt time I bring my 100-400mm pro lens..I think there is only a restriction for a commercial photography.and it's app not checking for weapon. There is a fountain drink station at the end of the desert garden which is the life saver! Utilize the shuttle can save you lot of energy !if I know about it I would had come sooner bcuz it tired me out already 10 yrs ago just to cover the whole ground by foot.. The Desert Garden is locate down the road from stop 7. And it's a more steep slope so by walking to stop 7 lily pond to catch the shuttle is much easier bc it's downhill instead walking up the slope back...

Yelp
The Huntington is a hidden library, research institution, botanical garden, and walking estate. I love early access tier for members to beat the heat and the crowds. The highlights: 1. Rose Garden - flowers bloom during tax season 4/15 2. Chinese Garden - scenic with koi fish lake and waterfalls 3. Japanese Garden - Shoyu House 4. Galleries They also offer eateries on site and a gift shop. Overall, it's super breathtaking and stunning. A sight to behold with what money and funding can buy!

Yelp
I went here for the gardens and it's massive and I'm really glad I went, just wish it wasn't close to 100 that day. There are a number of different themed gardens over the property and they are all pretty nice. Any time is probably nice, but I bet springtime would be spectacular. For me, I think highlights would be the Japanese and Chinese garden areas. If you are a photographer, there are a number of places to get some interesting shots. Weekends are probably busy, so if you can swing middle of the week, I'm sure you'll find it not too crowded. Honestly, wasn't too bad when I went because the place is huge.

Yelp
I also want to acknowledge Jennifer for going above and beyond for us. Helping me look for items and just being so kind. And thank you again Marlena for being so wonderful as always!

Yelp
Love spending time here with my kids. They love exploring the various gardens and can we just talk about the fragrant air of the rose gardens!? I could smell them before I saw them, I felt like my nose was leading our journey to the rose garden. We happened to stop by on a day when they had live music in the rose garden and what a treat. We decided to lie down under a tree and enjoy the music. The grounds are well maintained and plenty of space for energetic kids to run and explore.

Yelp
8/2/25 Gadzooks! Wow! It's been ages since I visited the Huntington. Today, my main goal was to see the Green Boy or who I fondly call, Stinky. It's the Corpse Flower which is originally a variety of species found in Indonesia. I remember watching the time-lapse video of this phenomenal world's largest flower known in Indonesia as Bunga Bangkai (translated literally as fruit of the corpse) As you can imagine, it is said to have the scent of rotten meat or decomp. Missing it altogether because it bloomed on July 31st & only lasts no more than 2 days. I am not a glutton for punishment wanting to smell this abomination but it's really for the admiration of its historical & scientific significance. Truly, a wondrous sight. You have to see (and smell) for yourselves). If I remember correctly, it blooms only every 2-3 years. So this failed visit was vital. I will time my visit wisely next time. Enjoyed myself immensely as I rushed to go towards the Conservatory to see Stinky. It's inside a controlled environment where it's like the humid & tropical inside. I also caught a glimpse of the jackfruit tree with its fruits that are about roughly 30-45 lbs each. There's not enough time to see everything at The Huntington but I am glad I was able to see what I had set out to see. This place is huge which the Tea House, art galleries, the Rose Gardens, etc. I forgot to bring my hat, it was hot!!! Some people were prepared & brought umbrellas, smart! Until next time! I would love to post Stinky's photo WHILE in bloom, & wish "Smell-O-Vision would have be invented & get the full experience on Yelp. Highly recommend this fabulous & phenomenal garden, worth a visit!

Yelp
Haven't been here for over 10 years. Parking is limited so go early. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Great walk to explore nature. Great family friendly place. Love the flowers and the various gardens. Shall be back again soon.

Yelp
Annual orchid show and plant sale are on this weekend in Huntington library. We were surrounded by the beauty ~ orchids, sunshine, and happy plant lovers. Couldn't resist getting some treasures home at last.

Yelp
The Huntington is where old money went to die and left behind 207 acres of "look how rich I was" for the rest of us to gawk at. Henry E. Huntington was a railroad tycoon so loaded he basically bought half of Los Angeles, married his uncle's widow (because apparently Monopoly rules applied to real life), and then flexed so hard he built an art museum, a rare book library, and gardens big enough to hide three cults in. Savage? Absolutely. But now we get to stroll through it like freeloading aristocrats. The library is insane. Original Chaucer manuscripts? Check. A Gutenberg Bible? Check. Drafts of Shakespeare so old you can smell the plague? Yup. Huntington hoarded books like your grandma hoards Beanie Babies--except his stash is worth billions. The art museum is where The Blue Boy stares you down with the energy of a 5-year-old whose parents just gave him a juice box. Gainsborough, Mary Cassatt, 18th-century British portraiture--you know, the kind of art rich people used to buy just to say "Yeah, that's my ancestor. He owned a hat factory." The gardens? They're next-level ridiculous. The Japanese Garden is so Zen it might actually erase your credit card debt. The Chinese Garden looks like a set piece from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And the Desert Garden? Hundreds of cacti that look like Dr. Seuss went on ayahuasca. It's a botanical fever dream. But let's be real: this place screams, "I had obscene wealth and didn't know what to do with it." And thank God for that. Because now you, me, and every influencer in L.A. can walk around taking selfies with koi ponds and pretending we're cultured. Pro tip: The café charges $18 for a salad that tastes like it was foraged from the side of the 210 freeway. Bring snacks or accept your fate as a bougie hostage. Bottom line? The Huntington is not just a museum or a garden--it's Henry Huntington flipping off history and saying, "I was so rich, I married my uncle's widow, hoarded all the books, and now you're going to Instagram my roses." This isn't culture. This is a billionaire's ego trip. And it's glorious.

Yelp
On a hot summer day, I visited The Huntington for the first time with family. It got hot around noon, so I decided to spend time in the art galleries and cafe. There are so many flowers, plants, and art to see and learn about. I'd definitely want to visit again during a cooler day to get some more photos of the flowers here. I didn't even get to visit the Chinese Garden, so I'd want to see that when I come back. I took most of my photos at the Rose Garden. The climbing roses were so interesting, and there was some shade that allowed for better lighting during the bright late morning. I think it would be nice visiting closer to sunset since I prefer the lighting for my camera during that time. I eventually made my way to the Herb Garden and met two nice docents. One lady said I could rub on the Thai basil leaves and smell them. The scent reminded me of the basil from pho restaurants. Then, another docent named Jane taught me about deadheading. Her work cutting stems and flowers caught my interest. She mentioned how she used to be teacher, and I appreciated the passion she put into sharing her knowledge with me. The Mabel Orientation Gallery was very interesting because they had a model of the Pacific Electric Railway Company's "Red Car." Pacific Electric connected greater Los Angeles with a streetcar transit system running on steel tracks. As someone who uses public transit a lot, it was fascinating to see how this railway became the precursor for today's rail lines in Southern California. I appreciated learning how many of Metro's rights-of-way use the routes of the original Pacific Electric lines. Henry Huntington's ownership of the Pacific Electric Railway definitely gave me a clue as to how he amassed the wealth needed to build his estate in San Marino. The European art gallery was once the mansion of Henry and Arabella Huntington. Seeing the mansion's amazing size, lavish interior, and staircase window looking out to the gardens made me think of how only a few elites gained so much prosperity during the Gilded Age.

Yelp
Had to add a little special occasion fun review to the Gardens. We were in the green house when one of the corpse flowers was being cut back. The botanist encouraged us to discover the wild insides of this amazing plant and I was able to take a shot of child with giant zucchini to photo roll. Ok, not a giant zucchini, but a cutting of a corpse plant which is just about as cool. I have a membership here and it is priceless. This beautiful spot is a much needed escape from the noise and frantic activity that is LA. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Really awesome place to walk around and admire nature, art, and some architecture. Tickets are easily purchasable in advance online. I would recommend trying to come during one of the earlier time slots during the summer, as a lot of the gardens are not shaded and it can get very toasty in the peak afternoon. Although we purchased tickets for 2pm, we arrived at around 1:30pm and were still admitted in with no issues. Be prepared for a lot of steps, especially if you want to visit all the gardens and exhibitions! The European hall and American art exhibitions had some great sculptures, oil paintings, and abstract art. The Japanese and Chinese gardens were beautiful. The Japanese garden especially reminded me of Japan and was better than the ones in San Francisco and Portland.
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
I had only a couple of hours to spend at The Huntington in Rosemead, but it was absolutely worth it. The gardens are stunningly maintained, and each area--from the Japanese Garden to the Desert Garden--feels like stepping into a different world. The art galleries and library were smaller than I expected but beautifully curated, with some rare and fascinating pieces on display. Even with limited time, it was peaceful and inspiring--definitely planning a longer visit next time.

Yelp
So getting here is a little bit misleading, especially if you're on foot. Depending on what platform you're using for a map it will often try to take you down people's private driveways so I recommend taking an Uber to get here. Once I got here, I saw that you had to have tickets so I scanned the QR code and it looked like it was free admission for the day and I was OK with everything but I was not. So that I had to go to the ticket encounter and get another ticket. It was very confusing. When's inside, though I finally figured out that it was a series of several different gardens. Looking at maps it just looked like they were a bunch of different open parks by each other. I didn't realize it was part of this place. I definitely recommend bringing a hat because it's very open and very sunny and very hot and I got very sunburnt. That being said, it was still a cool experience to go and walk through all of the different gardens and seeing the different plants and the flowers and the different themes with each section. I think the price to get in is a bit high though, but still cool to see.

Yelp
My sister and I went to The Huntington at 10am on a Thursday and it was lightly populated, no waiting to buy tickets, and such an enriching, beautiful experience. This was my 4th visit in the past 5 years and each time I leave knowing I saw just a fraction of what this immense place has to offer. On this trip, we chose to walk around the immense and varied gardens and then end with the museum portion when the day began to warm up. My favorite gardens are the rose garden, the Japanese and Chinese gardens, including the bonsai tree area, and the area that has the pond with the turtles in it. A bonus is driving through San Marino to get to The Huntington and looking at all the amazing properties.
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
I've been to the The Huntington Library Museum and Botanical Gardens before. I love the grounds. So beautiful! I went on a Thursday which it is free to the public. You must make online reservations for free admissions day. I started with the Maple Orientation Gallery. It's like a visitor's center. There was a room showing a few short films about The Huntington. There is a gallery inside too. It's a great place to cool down especially with 90 degree weather. I visited the rose and herb gardens. I also went to museum. Beautiful artifacts and artwork. Finally I went to the Japanese and Chinese gardens. Both are amazing. Great news: they do have a shuttle bus but it only runs every 30 minutes. They have a nice gift shop and small restaurant called Red Car. The Red Car sells ice cream, chips, sandwiches and other snacks.

Yelp
We had an amazing day walking through the various gardens at The Huntington. Although a repeat visit for me, I had an opportunity on this visit to see the gorgeous rose garden which was in full bloom. The Rose Garden Tea Room is now open and has views of the herb and rose gardens. The Huntington gardens are well maintained, unique, calming, and absolutely worth visiting.

Yelp
This is a very beautiful place!!! You would be wise to purchase your tickets online and avoid the hassle. You're still wait in a line but once your up there you get your sticker and move into the park. As you walk in, you have a coffee shop and gift shop. Coffee shop has free water (you will need it). Bring a camera, maybe a notebook, take a friend, and maybe some good headphones with music. You kina have to be a spoonge here and just take in the sights and experiance this thing. I really enjoyed it and would love to go back.

Yelp
A beautiful garden estate with lots to enjoy for everyone! I've visited The Huntington several times, and each day is different with new areas to explore. Through the CalFresh Museum For All Program, the Huntington is only $3. Parking is also free! Just beware that the rose season and the weekends are very busy. The Huntington's summer music program is excellent. They feature a weekly rotation of musicians in the different themed garden areas. The Rose Garden features classical music from the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, while the Chinese Garden features traditional folk music. Pro-tip #1: Enjoy boba tea in the Chinese Garden and Afternoon High Tea in the English Rose Garden! Pro-tip #2: Picnicking is not allowed throughout the grounds, but the Huntington Store has a designated picnic area with tables and umbrellas.
google avatar

Victor D.

Yelp
I had reservations at the tea room which requires you to buy a ticket. The grounds are very nice. I tried walking around but none of the exhibits were open. I must have went at a bad time.
google avatar

Marie U.

Yelp
It's beautiful here! When you pass through the gate, magic begins! The gardens are so lovely and so diverse! A fantastic walk and stroll to enjoy and have a small chat with a friend along the way. The library is a significant collection of aged and important items. The tea room is fantastic. This is a wonderful way to spend a day or to give us a gift or take someone there for a gift, as they will never forget that day with you!

Yelp
The Huntington is absolutely beautiful!! I came recently and the roses were in full bloom! The staff here do such an amazing job in all the gardens, taking care of all the plants. They look like they're abundant and healthy! We stayed almost the whole day here and we only got to explore a fraction of this place. I definitely want to come back soon and revisit the same gardens and explore more of the other gardens. There's also museums with curated arts and collections that are also just as amazing. I love how they continue to update the areas with new pieces to keep you coming back. It's $30 for a day pass. I'm definitely considering getting an annual membership for $175 for 2 ppl! It's pretty worth!

Yelp
Prepare yourself for major walking in the Sun - bring a hat, umbrella, water, and your best walking shoes. Went Saturday afternoon and it was hot but beautiful to roam the grounds. We checked out the Japanese garden and Chinese gardens , we didn't even cover the majority of the grounds! Keep in mind that the Shōya house in Japan garden closes earlier at 4p, the entire place is open till 5p. We didn't realize there were cafes and restaurants tucked around.. The majority of them close by 3p, so I'm better prepared to come earlier next time! Ample parking but you may have to circle around a couple of times as the lot fills up quickly. We ended up grabbing some ice cream at the entrance to cool down at the end of our visit. Can't express how beautiful this place is and looking forward to visiting again.
google avatar

Navita P.

Yelp
So big and beautiful gardens !! I especially loved the Japanese and Chinese gardens. Lots to see !! But the parking was super tough. I couldn't find parking in the lot and had to park at entrance on the street on Oxford. The roses are starting to bloom !!
google avatar

Cheyenne G.

Yelp
Coming here was amazing! My daughter was celebrating her 8th grade promotion later on in the day, and so we decided to spend our morning at the Huntington. Everyone here was so kind and helpful, it was packed with people but not once did it feel like it! We came on a Wednesday so I was shocked to see so many people, but our visit was amazing either way. There was SO MANY THINGS TO SEE, I honestly wish we would've just spent the whole day here! We definitely need to go back to see what we missed, which was so much.
google avatar

Cassidy I.

Yelp
Pricing for the gardens and museum is high! I would go a lot more often if it was more reasonable. To be fair, it is beautifully maintained and staffed. There are not many restrooms or drinking fountains/water refill stations. It can also get very crowded. I visited on a chilly, rainy day and the parking lot was very busy! The crowds were not too bad, but there were still people everywhere in bad weather.
google avatar

Tony Y.

Yelp
This place is soooo huge, it's hard to visit everything. Definitely worth the price and worth going back to. If you love nature and walks, this place has you covered. The gift shop at the end is also pretty cool and filled with knickknacks.

Yelp
Stopped by on Saturday, 03/29/25. This is my second time here, and the first time I visited this place was back in my elementary/middle school days - so it's been a while. Visiting this place is very nostalgic for me too! General admission for an Adult is $29. You would have to purchase the tickets online and make a reservation in advance by choosing a time slot. I would highly recommend trying to get the earliest time slot as possible as this place is only open from 10am-5pm, and there are lots and LOTS of areas to explore and take pictures! Otherwise, you will definitely feel rushed if your time slot is later in the day. A nice place to get your steps in and spend quality time.

Yelp
Surprisingly extensive, incredibly diverse, and welcoming to everyone, The Huntington is a must visit and might just become one of your favorite spots in Los Angeles. Don't be fooled, the place is huge! It's like a large European estate but perhaps even larger! You have a library, museum, and of course the gardens! You can spend all day here and still not nearly see it all. Parking can be problematic and you may have to walk quite a bit to the entrance on a busy day. From the Japanese, to the Chinese, to the desert gardens, each feels like a unique experience. With each theme, you feel like you are transported to an entirely new location. You can tell incredible care and dedication goes into every detail. Whether you are visiting solo, having a romantic date, or coming with a large family with kids, you'll have a wonderful time here! There are souvenir stores, picnic grounds, tea and coffee shops, and much much more for you and your loved ones! The Huntington is a must visit for everyone who has the time and is nearby!
google avatar

Tiffany R.

Yelp
If there was one place I would recommend for someone visiting it would definitely be here! Even though it's an hour away from LA it's worth the drive! There's so much to explore and they even have a butterfly sanctuary you can get tickets for (tickets are fairly priced)! And butterflies may or may not fly onto you.... would love to go back!

Yelp
This is a beautiful place! I heard about this place and had wanted to come for years - but the stars never aligned until now. My aunt and uncle were in town and my mom wanted to take them sight-seeing - perfect opportunity for me to explore somewhere new as well! We came here during winter on a weekday afternoon, so it was still a little chilly, but not cold since the sun was out and walking around the huge gardens warmed us up. I loved all the walkways and paths found throughout the gardens - such a relaxing atmosphere made me want to just wander aimlessly through and take my time enjoying the peace. My mom, aunt and uncle were very fascinated by a huge plant that was in front of one of the libraries. They spent a great amount of time circling around the plant, discussing how the plant grows and taking pictures to show friends/family. I got some time to bask in the sunlight as I waited for them. We were able to see some of the exhibits that were on display around the gardens, but some buildings were closed and we couldn't walk through. We made it halfway around (again, this place is huge!!) before my mom, aunt and uncle got tired of walking. After resting for a bit in the Chinese Gardens and taking pictures, we decided it was time to head back home. We caught one of the tram rides back to the front and it gave us a quick view of the other gardens we didn't make it to. I will definitely have to make my way back one day to finish walking around the gardens. I also want to see the inside of the closed buildings and maybe spend time in one of the cafes. One a weekday afternoon - there were people milling about, but it wasn't too crowded. I am sure that weekends, especially during the nice summer months, will be much more crowded.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to visit, a serene and beautiful art museum combined with a botanical garden, like a hidden paradise away from the hustle and bustle. I especially love sitting on a bench in the Chinese Garden, watching the vibrant colors glow in the backlight as the sunset gently paints everything with a soft golden edge. From there, I can quietly observe people crossing the stone bridge, feel the breeze on my face, and let my mind completely relax. Moments like this remind me to simply embrace the beauty of the present.

Yelp
What a beautiful visit we had! I wasn't certain we'd be able to get in - at the parking lot entrance we were turned away for not having a reservation. We turned around, made same day reservations (for about an hour later) talked about trying to find a coffee shop in town but figured we'd just eat at a cafe in the Library or Gardens - there are many of them scattered throughout the expansive grounds. The last time visited, the Library spaces (rare books and art museums) were closed. So that's where we started, viewing their Gutenberg Bible, Shakespeare First Foluo, and an early printing of The Canterbury Tales. And In the European Art Museum, there's Gainsborough's The Blue Boy (with other gems here and in the American Art museum). This place is heaven for a retired English teacher and an art museum staffer. (Don't get me wrong, our adult kids love it here too and visit often, mostly for the gardens.) As we walked through those stunningly beautiful interconnected gardens, some of the LA traffic stress just melted away. Even on a busy day with many - many - tourists here with us we found peaceful spots to enjoy by ourselves. My favorite spaces were probably the Japanese and Chinese gardens, though they are among the busiest spaces here. I loved the many water features and the overlook near the boba shop. The medicinal herbs and plants were fascinating. What a wonderful place to spend a few hours (if you avoid the craziness of the gift shop).

Yelp
I've loved this place for years, and have been a member for the past 3ish years. The grounds are huge, and provide a great way to get your steps in while enjoying the sights. The gardens are well kept and inviting. The eateries are delish. And, the gift shop is full of finely curated gifts. You can spend a few hours here, or make a full day of it. Absolutely love that it's a mix of a historical library, museum, & botanical garden. The parking lot is ample, but can be full on special occasions. Truly an LA icon and a must visit over and over again!

Yelp
This place is a gem. As an avid lover of gardens and history, we absolutely adored The Huntington. The Facilities & Atmosphere: due to the recent winds and fires, many were closed however the ones that were opened were great. You are able to get a membership though to visit almost as often as you'd like (with blackout dates) so if you plan on going here at least more than 3 times a year, the membership (which is essentially a donation) is worth it, especially if you are nearby and would like to see the different exhibits The Staff/Volunteers: Honestly, most of the people there were either nonchalant or very friendly and knowledgeable. We are excited to make new friends with those who enjoy The Huntington as much as us. They provided a great deal of knowledge and information to share when showing the exhibits and area. Food: The cafe was pretty good, similar to one that one might see at a college campus. We went there for a quick bite and it was a decent meal. With a membership you get a % of which is nice. Overall, we are excited to come here again!

Yelp
Beautiful and serene place and so worth a visit. I would highly recommend spending a full day here... first you wander, then grab lunch here, wander some more, enjoy a cup of coffee, then finish off with some more wandering, then take the tram back to near the front entrance. In particular, we really enjoyed their Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, and the Botanical Garden. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
This is a must do! We came on Sunday morning, and spent the whole day here looking at their gardens and their American Art museum. This is a very all in one experience! You could easily spend a full day in the gardens, or the museums. No matter what you decide though-bring good walking shoes and a full phone battery! Tickets were $30, and the parking was plentiful. We got to roam freely and chose to appreciate their gardens after visiting the American Art museum. My two favorites of the gardens were their Desert Garden and their Chinese Garden, but ALL the gardens are worth seeing. They keep their gardens well trimmed and manicured. While it was a little too cold for the rose gardens, they still looked great. Be sure to set aside some time for their epic gift shop as well-it is HUGE and you can find plenty of gifts for people here.

Yelp
I have lived in Southern California for a long time and have heard about The Huntington Garden but never had the pleasure of visiting until my out of town guest wanted to go so we went and I was absolutely blown away by the sheer size and immense beauty around every corner. We spent 4 hours here and I just know we did not see it all. First we walked the different gardens and out door space followed by two buildings, one small one with pottery and blacksmith tools and the only other open building was huge and full of breathtaking art. If you love art you could spend an entire day here taking it all in. A few other building seemed to be closed due to setup for a weekend event they were going to be hosting. I will definitely be back when everything is open and available and highly recommend all visit!!

Yelp
Updating my review about the rude volunteer that yelled at my son. I spoke with very nice customer rep and she apologized and told me to send an email to their supervisor. I received no response. They approve of this rude behavior.

Yelp
This was such a cool place to experience, right here in our Southern California backyard. My husband and I came here as we have lived here all our lives and had never been. There are so many interesting things to see and beautiful art to experience. Art can be found as sculpture, paintings, woodworking, and even bonsai. The grounds are very well kept and beautiful. My only disappointment was that the library, outside of the small exhibits, is only accessible for research projects with prior authorization. I do understand, but as a library nerd, it made me sad. Overall, the experience was great and I can't wait to go back to see even more (as there is so much to see, one day is not enough!)

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite spots in all of LA! All are welcome at The Huntington - families, dates, solo strolls, etc. There's something for everyone. I love going here on the weekend and strolling through the gardens and seeing what rotating exhibit they have on. I feel like I discover a new part of the Gardens each time I go. You must purchase tickets in advance! The Huntington gets BUSY. The parking lot can also be chaotic at times but there's plenty of street parking outside of the gates.

Yelp
It has been years since I have been here and what a joy it was. My friend has a membership so our entrance was part of the membership perks. They do check your bags upon entering. The entrance staff was efficient. When asking for directions and information, some employees were more eager to help than others. Our visit was a few weeks after the Alta Dena fire, therefore some of the art exhibits were not open as they were still concerned about smoke and particles in the air. The exhibits we did see were lovely. The gardens were wonderful to walk through and the library exhibits were smaller than I remember, but still informative and creative. We had lunch at the cafe and shopped in the gift shop as well. The gift shop is wonderful! So many different venue type rooms for shopping including a great children's section, cooking section, different theme sections like, gardening, tea parties, etc. The staff in the shop were all friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience. Also note that if you or someone in your group has a membership you receive 10% off of any gift store purchases. There are plenty of clean restrooms and the large parking lot is free.

Yelp
The Huntington Gardens are really fun! The nature there is absolutely gorgeous and I love going with my camera to take photos! My favorite is the Shakespeare gardens- I love all the myths connected to the statues. Definitely for a fun day of family fun. However, be weary of going to take photos of yourself. i went to take prom photos there- they let me through all dressed up and with a professional camera, but was later told I could not take professional photos there... it was disappointing to say the least.

Yelp
This is seriously such a beautiful place for those who love botanical gardens and art galleries. The place is very well maintained, and as a plants' lover, this was such a great place to go for a day trip! At this time of the year, camellia blooms were everywhere. We had to skip the rose garden because all the roses are being pruned right now. We went to all the gardens listed on the map, but the main standout were definitely the Japanese and Chinese gardens. They were incredibly beautiful and picturesque. I felt like I was on a movie set walking and traversing through the bridges and buildings that encircled the lakes. Gorgeous!

Yelp
I took myself here for my birthday and probably spent over 5 hours enjoying the gardens! I easily could've spent the entire day from opening to closing hours. I loved the various sections and garden/environment types. I went in September and found it to be a great time for everything that was in bloom. I appreciated that they had educational aspects and interactive aspects (like the smelling garden to engage your senses!). Be prepared to walk a lot! They had shuttle golf carts, but I always saw people waiting for them to arrive. Also, I recommend going when they open because parking filled up fast! There are nice grassy areas that you could lay out and read a book or do some art! Staff were nice and helpful and let me drop my bags off in my car & re-enter (since I didn't want to carry them anymore).

Plenty of buildings to go in an explore , and all the plants and flowers are beautiful If you're going during the day I recommend taking an umbrella to protect yourself from the sun! Best time to go is in Spring ! These photos were taken in September !
