"The reincarnation of a 1960’s hotel that was thoroughly “square” in both form and function, The Huntley is one of those rare L.A. hot spots that provides both eye candy and genuine savoir faire. The aloof attitudes that taint so many trendy Angelino abodes has been swept aside in favor of doormen who actually smile (without prompting) and waiters who aren’t afraid to engage in a bit of friendly banter. The interior design, edgy but never over the top, draws inspiration from both sides of the Pacific. The arty lobby – with its fan coral motifs, stingray-hide front desk and “piranha wall” – pays full homage to nearby Santa Monica Bay and its famous pleasure pier. While the outdoor seating area with its roaring fireplace beside the porte-cochere offers an urbane take on the beachside bonfire. Upstairs the feel is more Asian, the glazed green “pagoda” lamps and darkwood furniture of the guest rooms reminiscent of late 1940s Japanese deco. As befits the self-proclaimed capital of the entertainment world, even the most humble rooms are equipped with 42-inch plasma screen TVs, DVD players, laptop friendly safes, high-speed wireless internet access and Sony “Dream Machines” on the bedside table. The penthouse restaurant and cantina have also undergone thorough makeover, re-launched as Toppers with a menu that combines “nuevo latino” wonders like stuffed poblano chile and shrimp fajitas with classic east-west dishes such as grilled teriyaki salmon, macadamia nut halibut and coconut shrimp in a mango salsa. The view from every table defines “drop dead gorgeous” – a 360-degree panorama of nearly everything that locals hold sacred – the Malibu coast, Venice beach and far-off Hollywood. Atypical for a Southern California hotel, The Huntley lacks a swimming pool. But Santa Monica strand is just a block away and the concierge desk well stocked with towels."

From the moment we arrived, everything was top-notch! Gracie welcomed us with a huge smile and incredible professionalism — hands down one of the best check-in experiences we’ve had. She truly set the tone for our stay. The suite was beautiful, with warm, inviting lighting that made it feel like home. The leather sectional was unbelievably comfortable, and the bed delivered an AMAZING night’s sleep. Breakfast was fantastic and the perfect way to start the day. This stay was a solid 10/10 across the board. Thank you, Huntley, for exceeding our expectations!

Highly recommend this hotel. Staff are very welcoming and they are very helpful. Beautiful, large, clean rooms, free bikes for 4 hours, and car service within 3 km! Thank you Randy, Jorge, and to all the other staff. The penthouse restaurant and bar is also highly recommended. Great food, amazing service, and one of the top views in a relaxed atmosphere.

Thank you Huntley we had a beautiful stay. Everyone on reception was wonderfully welcoming and accommodating. We decided to upgrade to a suite and it was definitely worth it. Loved the cafe downstairs for a strawberry matcha and acai bowl. Didn’t get to try the restaurant, Penthouse but it looked beautiful. We were grateful for the complimentary lifts from the driver George and took advantage of the free bikes to explore the beach coastal bike path daily that is really close by. The hotel was beautifully decorated and very clean and modern. A great location and safe area. Would definitely stay again when in Santa Monica.

I cannnot get enough of this hotel. I adore it. Other than the comfy beds, great clean spacious rooms, the staff is what stands out. Blake the manager remembered me tonight at check out and went above and beyond, made such an impact on my experience and made it 100x better. Not to mention, every single time, Edwin always remembers me and Gracie is just awesome. The staff? Unparalleled care. The rooms are nice and clean. The bathroom immaculate. The food is good. I won’t stay anywhere else in LA. Every time me or my friend stay here, we text each other and instantly we both get jealous. lol I love the Huntley, the views— but the people? Yeah. Chef’s kiss.

The ads said hotel was on the beach and it's not. There are no rooms with full beach view as advertised either. Relaxation, spa area closed not mentioned when booking. Rooftop restaurant, room service, and parking outrageously expensive. (2 mediocre sandwiches and fries, no drinks for $85!). The nice couple who checked in next to us were provided a room upgrade and free breakfasts at no extra charge, but we received zero special treatment. In fact, we seemed quite invisible to the staff. The rooms are lovely, and it's in a safe part of town which can be difficult to accomplish. Although we were verbally attacked by a homeless person just outside the hotel, no harm done really, but it was scary to us out of towners and we tried to not let that set the tone for our day. They have some key perks but the perks they do have are not worth the money. It's a quite lovely hotel but we won't be back.

While, the Huntley is a great traditional hotel for me and my family, I was a bit disappointed on this trip as I paid an extra $30 to upgrade to a better room and check in early. My tv entertainment in my TV would not work. It would cast to other rooms. And the in room iPad was not working either, needless to say, for my short two day stay, I didn’t have the complete comforts in comparison to the price I paid. Especially after having technicians in my room for over a three hour period to resolve an issue that was never resolved. Otherwise, the location is everything. I just expected to top notch.

Booked on a whim and definitely glad I did! The rooms are clean and cozy, with lovely views. Crisp bedding and bathrooms stocked with bathrobes and slippers. The location is great—plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, and you can stroll to the beach. Onsite valet is a bit pricey, but parking in the area isn’t cheap anyway. The rooftop restaurant also did not disappoint - everything was top notch!
