The Huntsman

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Huntsman Restaurant, and I have to say, the experience was outstanding. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere had the perfect balance of warmth and sophistication—inviting, comfortable, and full of great energy. The food was absolutely fantastic. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors were rich, balanced, and memorable. But what truly elevated the evening was our server, Luis. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to walk us through the menu, offering excellent insights and thoughtful recommendations. His pairing suggestions were spot-on and really enhanced our dining experience. It’s rare to find someone who combines professionalism, passion, and genuine hospitality the way he did. Overall, The Huntsman impressed me on every level—food, vibes, and service. I highly recommend it, and I’m already looking forward to returning.

Once again another phenomenal meal at the Huntsman. We love this place and this time decided to try the 5 course tasting experience. Luis our wonderful server was so knowledgeable and passionate in his role. His enthusiasm is charming and I truly thank him and the kitchen staff for a wonderful night.

Everything was incredible. Atmosphere, waiters, and food! We luckily booked our reservation on a quieter day/time, so we were well waited on. As it was our first time, my husband and I decided to go big and get the 5-course Hunter Tasting Experience which was amazing! Every dish brought something different and unique. Things wouldn’t normally pick to eat on their own, but paired throughout the tasting, they all worked so well together! There isn’t a kid’s menu, but our kiddo was well taken care of as well. They ordered the Seafood Cioppino which was out of this world. Cameron, our waiter, was so kind and fun and knowledgeable as well.

Fun dining experience! We tried the Huntsman special, which is 5 course meal (mystery) - with each course selected by the head chef. Nothing from the main menu is duplicated or listed in the special, so it's a complete mystery. The 5th course is a dessert, but otherwise its all "game" related dishes. The entire table must opt in as a group, so bring an adventurous team if you want this fun opportunity! We won't spoil the surprise - try it for yourselves :) the photos include some appetizers, which are listed on the menu. But expect your own mystery experience to be unique! I have eaten all over the world and this experience blew me out of the water. In Tallahassee. Never would have thought. The bartender at our hotel recommended and the place didn’t disappoint. Very understated when you arrive. Walk in to a lively bar. Friendly service. Waitress Sydnee was delightful. Opted for chefs tasting menu as I find that’s the way to get what the chef would want to serve most. After that, done. Food was OUTSTANDING. Japanese octopus hand pie with wasabi cream and Japanese pickles, next was a fish and coconut stew, then a braised duck sort taco , elk tenderloin with mushroom risotto and finally, a guava hand pie with goat cheese ice cream and basil streusel. Unbelievable. Really sad this is a seasonal menu, I was just visiting and may never taste this again. Will be back here for sure ANY TIME I’m in Tallahassee. Please. If you enjoy food. The atmosphere was surprising to me for such a small place. Intimate, white tablecloth, sleek style. Service was awesome 18% gratuity included in bill, waitress did a good job informing for first time diners. We had Grouper, Roasted Oysters, Crab Cake and fried Eggplant. Food had too much other stuff added for my liking, “less accessory is more”many times. Bill included wine and a beer $130

Great food and incredible service. Not a huge place... the furnishings and atmosphere are nice, but not on par w/ the food and service. What really impressed me was the A5 marsala butter and the bourbon bacon onion jam... and the dessert, peach hand pies. The flavor of all 3 were, not to be dramatic but, special. All in all, a great experience, and highly recommended.

We had an amazing experience at the Huntsman. We did the Guided Expedition w/ beverage pairing and were blown away by the quality of the meal and service. We particularly enjoyed our server, Luis, who was so personable and knowledgeable about our meal. We are already planning our next visit.
