Yelp
I was surprised at the quality of the food, given the generally high reviews of this restaurant.
The ambiance was nice: there was a beautiful view of the city, a nice courtyard, well dressed wait staff and patrons, and an overall nice vibe
The service was fine: nothing much to mention about it
The food was not very good at all:
We had the squash blossoms as an appetizer, which was battered stuffed squash blossoms over a chunk of deep fried cheese and sauce. I found the batter too heavy, the stuffing uninspiring, the cheese a strange choice to the plate, and the sauces mediocre.
Next we had the salads, and I thought they were actually well done, but the fact that the salad that was the best thing about the entire meal is not a good thing.
For main courses, we had the fish and the pork shank. The fish was overcooked and dry, and came with a pineapple sauce that really didn't go with it at all. The vegetables were bland, and had just been boiled or steamed, and the mashed potatoes lacked butter and cream, and were just really not good.
The pork shank was nice, but if you have ever cooked pork shank, you know you just stick it in a pot and leave it for four hours, so there's not much to it. The sauce was not very flavourful.
Finally, for dessert we had the mille feuille, which was not a real mille feuille, but some guava cream (which was grainy) in between phyllo dough.
The total price for two of us, including two bottles of still water and no other drinks, and including tax and tip, was around 3000 pesos, or $150 USD.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
