Finding ourselves hungry and in Everett, my mom knew just where to go. The flavor of the beef Ukranian dumplings were incredible. So much so that we ordered extra to go. I gave four stars for service because it appeared that only one person was working. We had to wait approximately all the patrons seated at the bar had empty glasses. She had been restocking the cooler. Experience: Sunday, March 9, 2025 3:00pm - 4:30pm

Google
Low key bar vibes with a good selection of beers and a few large TVs to catch the game. Didn’t have a Pilsner but had plenty of sours and ciders on tap which is great for me and my wife. Their palmeni dumplings were some of the best I’d have and were only $10 for a filling helping. The best part was that I could enjoy it all with my dog. Definitely will be back.

Food Caveat: Food options are basically just snacks like chips only right now due to interminable kitchen renovations/repairs. But they're very transparent and they're doing their best. They allow you to order your own food in. Service is phenomenal, I have never had any issues, only great things to say about their prompt attention to everyone. I have been there during the week when they're not so busy and on the weekends when they're packed and haven't noticed being treated differently. Their vast drink options had me stumped and gladly they offered me some tastes and that was fantastic. Atmosphere is very chill. I felt like I was at a coffee shop and not a beer bar. Definitely not a dive bar. There are spots for everyone, if you want to sit quietly in the corner and work there are many spots to do that. If you want to sit at the bar, the bar is very long and stools are sturdy. If you want a table to play games or eat there are plenty. I highly recommend their ciders.

Google
Absolutely love this place! Came here for their legendary dumplings and now I keep coming back for how awesome it is. Great selection of beer and ciders. And the bar tender (Megan I think?) does a fantastic job! She even recommended a few good seafood places when I asked and they were a big hit with my coworkers! Definitely one of my favorites places to swing by when I’m in town for work. I highly recommend anyone who hasn’t checked it out to do so. They even let dogs in. Who wouldn’t love that!

Google
Service was awesome! You can tell the owners are passionate about their beer, shop and Russian dumplings. Get the Russian Dumplings. Sooo good!!

Google
Great place with a great atmosphere. Beer selection is always changing, the snacks are perfect, and the dumplings are phenomenal. My favorite pregame spot PS: Doug is phenomenal

Google
Of course we love this place. The owners love beer and you can tell in the tap and bottle list. The building itself is always super clean which is nice when comparing to the bars in close proximity. You can bring your own food which is nice. Also I love to play the shuffle board so that's fun to have. It's also nice to have the option of wine, since sometimes I'm beer'd out. They also have a good variety of ciders too.

Google
TL:DR - Delightful, unique, with an awkward layout, and probably heating issues in the summer. I would put this in a place where it is good for a meet, snack, and game which suits for about an hour before running out of charm. A decent selection of taps and a fun selection of snack. Worth a stop if you're in the area with a friend.

Yelp
Doug is the High Magistrate of Nerdtown and if you meet him be sure to refer to him as such.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped into Independent Beer Bar for a quick beer before pressing on. Free timed street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Independent Beer Bar is 21+ and dog friendly. During our visit, the kitchen was out of order; however, outside food is welcome. Beer/tap bars are quite trendy nowadays. Independent Beer Bar was established before the big trend so don't expect anything too fancy. Indoors is actually on the decrepit side. My wife had a Voodoo Citrus Pale Ale for $7. I had a Fat Orange Cat Baby Kittens Hazy IPA for $7. Pricing is fair compared to surrounding area. Our server was friendly and enthusiastic. I look forward to returning in the future with hopes to pair Russian dumplings with my beer.

Yelp
We stopped here while waiting for a Concert at the arena. Service was fantastic. It was super busy. I enjoyed a glass of wine and my guy a beer. Not too pricey and good quality. Met some locals that frequent the bar and love it. Old bar feel. Good prefunk place.

Yelp
The first time I had a drink here, Doug was bartending, he talks to everyone like an old friend who is just catching up with. So, I started coming back regularly. It is really one of those bars where you can sit, have a great local craft beer, and the bartender will be a friend/counsellor, joke with you, tell you stories or listen to your problems. There's other random customers who will sit at the bar and join conversations, it's a great place to fill your social bar if you don't get much human interaction. For me, that is really the best authentic bar experience.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Always a good time, the service is always great!! Getting a beverage even during a busy game night is not a problem. Doug and Jeff are the best

Yelp
It's okay. I came in midday so not too many people there but a few. The bar isn't particularly big and I wouldn't quite call it divey, a little western feeling, haunted maybe, but very plain. Their beer selection was okay and since we were just popping in for a quick drink anyway it was good enough for us! We ordered some dumplings and they are coated in curry powder, sriracha, cilantro and sour cream. They're actually pretty good but the the curry powder was heavily shaken on top. I really liked the flavor but would lighten the sprinkle a little.

Yelp
Went in after a game and there was only one bar tender. The bathroom was out of tp and paper towels. The place was packed. The owner is an idiot for not having more people on staff. Some businesses owners.

Yelp
This place has been a favorite of mine since it's opening. I always appreciate that they have a nice tap list with a variety of interesting choices that are not too overly expensive, lots of local stuff can be found here too. The printed tap list always seems to be updated when I come in, which I greatly appreciate. I also really like the "Get Happy, Stay Happy" Hour where you can continue to save money on your drinks for the whole evening if you show up in the first 2 hours they are open (they open at 3 or 4 each day). It's never too crowded or too loud. They allow dogs, but not children. You're welcome to bring your own food, but I am a huge fan of the Russian Dumplings they serve here. They have Potato and Onion (easily made vegan with no sour cream) or Beef. Plus it's quite a large serving, only 8$ and something that you don't find too many places. I look forward to trying this for take out sometime in the future.

Yelp
Great place! Nice beer selection and very friendly staff. I love the atmosphere and the ambiance of this place. Didn't try the dumplings just had a couple tasty beers and my girlfriend had a delicious cider. Very cool inside on a hot day. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here the other day after some work thing. Honestly just an average typical beer hall. Definitely no wow factor, mayyybe a little divey but kinda just average so that's why I'm giving it three stars. Not a bad place but also not 5 star caliber.
google avatar

Rachel V.

Yelp
This place is honestly a pretty plain looking inside. Don't expect it to be some cool vibe place. But it's got everything you need. Great friendly service, board games, shuffleboard, good drink selection, and Pel-Meni dumplings! They have a meat version and a potato version. You can get the potato one vegan! You just tell them you want it vegan and they will leave off the dairy. Fair warning though, the siracha and curry powder are HOT. You will definitely be sweating eating these. They are delicious, just you will be sweating! You can order them plain too so you can enjoy a more relaxing dumpling experience. I'll definitely keep coming back for the dumplings!

Yelp
Anyone who knows me knows I use Yelp religiously. Some might say obsessively. Some might even say I have a problem. But it's times like last night, when visiting an unfamiliar city, that Yelp really comes in handy. We were attending the Duran Duran concert at XFinity Arena and I did my usual search for "beer" nearby. At the top of the list was a spot only a couple blocks away, called The Independent. When we arrived it was busy with a pre-concert crowd of mostly 40-somethings. We managed to get lucky and snagged a table after only a short wait; by the time we left it was definitely standing room only. There's no table service, you order at the bar. And there's no food served here - but they do have menus in the back and your food will be delivered. The people at the table next to us were eating some insanely good-smelling Thai food. I mean, like, I kept trying to distract them so I could steal a noodle but I think they were on to me. The beer list isn't long, but there's definitely something for everyone. They even have a few sours on the menu, and several ciders. If what's on tap doesn't appeal to you, their nice selection of well-chilled bottles likely will. They also had great 80's music playing, which got everyone in the mood for the concert. My only gripe is the beer menus were hard to find - would be nice to have a chalkboard or a digital menu (though I know those are hard to keep current, especially when it's busy). I do hope to go back another time - and this time I'm getting there early enough to order that Thai food!

Yelp
Dine in is available. Good amount of beer options and others. Russian dumplings are decent. Only issue is the smell. Smells like cat urine right when you walk in.
google avatar

Dean L.

Yelp
Unlike many ale-centric places, this one has food. I've found it to be a happening place in the evening, and nicely quiet in the afternoon. Great rotating taps.
google avatar

Mario Q.

Yelp
Well short and sweet must vist! They have a great selection of craft beers on tap and bottles the bar tender was super friendly! The establishment is clean and the decor is a great feel. Can't go wrong here if you're looking for a great place to meet up and start the night. The music is a great compalation and just loud enough to enjoy yet not to where you gotta tell at the person next to you. They do not have much of a food selection being they are primarily a bar. However, I had the Russian Dumplings (beef) they were delicious! Served with curry powder, Sriracha hot sauce and sour cream topped with cilantro and served with a slice of bread (from the menu) they were delicious! Just enough spicy to give your taste buds a little heat yet full of flavor I am pretty sure it took me a whole 2mins to devour them. Even with a limited food menu, you can bring in your own as well. Make a stop if you can and be sure to have a DD the place will make you want to stay!!

Yelp
Great little bar! They have a great list with lots of choices, and the prices were good. We got food from the pizza place down the street, and it was great to enjoy the unique beer list here with our food. Inside the atmosphere is really nice, pretty chill.

Yelp
This is a basic, no-frills bar with limited food options and no table service (you've got to order at the bar). Pluses are the location, which is right in downtown Everett across from Angel of the Winds Arena (perfect for before/after a Silvertips game), and the beer selection. Independent has one of the best, most varied beer selections in the city. You can find standard fares as well as random beers from around the country. It's a favorite bar of hipsters and I've seen more than one dog inside (which is annoying and unfortunate). They've got a lot of board games to help pass the time with friends and several places will deliver food to the bar, so you won't go hungry if you don't want to. Not bad, but not great. It's good as a jumping-off point or as a place to relax with a unique beer or two. There isn't much going on to hold your attention aside from conversation and board games, so it's either the perfect or worst place for a date, depending on how much you like to talk.

Yelp
An enjoyable little dive bar. Stoped in today as I'm heading towards something else further north. Thought I'd visit Tommy's Guitar shop while en route to actually see my old pal Tommy perform with one of his better bands at the Stanwood fair this fine Seafair weekend. But the shop was closed as its apparently too late. Instead I stopped in to a neighboring bar to have a beer and a break from driving. The little hole in the wall is rather inviting. Music I'd personally never listen to but it's cool nonetheless. A tidy handful of patrons are sitting about with laptops and books whiling away the afternoon. The bartender was attentive and very polite. I like this place.

Maxim M.

Yelp
I like downtown Everett. And this bar is not bad. Its just super local. There is nothing memorable there except bunch of old board games, ads for local events, practically no food and average cider/beer selection.
google avatar

Natalie J.

Yelp
Love this place! Yummy Russian dumplings. Great service, cool vibe. Easy place to hang on a week night. Great beer selections.

Yelp
Extremely cool place to catch a beer in the downtown Everett area. Very good beer selection and the service is excellent.

Yelp
Fantastic little pub in Everett, run by a couple of super nice guys who make it a point to make you feel welcome and at home. They have 16 rotating taps of beers and ciders, along with lots of cans and bottles plus some wines, and the selection ranges from fancy Belgian beers to macrobrews from 'Murica. Yep, they've got it all...except food. But! You can bring your own food! You can order delivery through a nearby Thai place and it's also walking distance to great spots like Brooklyn Bros pizza. If you just can't wait, a big bowl of pretzels with a nice brown mustard is just $2. The interior is beautiful too...check out the cool hardwood floors. And there's no way to overstate how nice the owners are.

Yelp
I've been excited to experience this place since I saw it in progress in January. It did not let me down. The Independent is super laid back and comfortable. It's a great place to meet your friends and have a couple of well-priced drinks. I'm not a beer drinker, but others tell me the selection is great. For us cider drinkers, there are several good options on tap and in the bottle. My favorite right now is the Finn River Black Currant Cider. So delicious. Of course there is also a nice wine selection so there is something for everyone. Also, their taps rotate, keeping you coming back for more! Jeff and Doug are the owners and operators. They are friendly and personable, and are always trying to make your experience the best it can be. Haven't heard of some of the beers on tap? Ask questions. They are both knowledgable and happy to recommend something if you're not sure what to order. Better yet, Doug's known to say, "you'll love it. And if you don't, I'll drink it and we'll find you something you do like".

Chris R.

Yelp
First time at this bar. I had the Summer Pale it was good, but the whole place smelled like a very strong urine smell. I won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
The Independent Beer Bar is like FAMILY! Awesome beer selection, great crowd of regulars, and never lacking a dog to pet (doggie friendly as long as your dogs are friendly!). You can bring in or order in whatever food you want, or try some of the dumplings they just added to the menu. I'm a big IPA drinker and they always have something on tap for me, but even if you're not a beer drinker they have a wine and cider too. Jeff, Doug, and Tasha are the most friendly and down-to-earth people you're likely to meet.
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
Excellent service. The bar tender was very nice. Has a few beers and dumplings. They were so good! I like the potato ones the best served with sour cream.

Janice R.

Yelp
Excellent local beer selection. Had a strawberry sour as well as a hazy IPA on draft. Always dog friendly, and the bartender was playing great tunes. Haven't tried the dumplings yet, but will definitely be back for them.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Beer choices were less than expected but the service was good and there is outside seating. Would be nice to get food menu going.
google avatar

Holly T.

Yelp
Super cool place! Picked up some dinner with my brother and then we walked over to the Independent Beer Bar. He had told me about it because he likes to go places with his dog. We brought our food in and the waiter offered us some plates so we weren't just eating out of boxes. I ordered a flight sampler and my favorites were the Prohibition Cider and the Margarita Cider (Marg fans must try!!) We sat there for a good amount of time and had a lot of fun! The place got pretty busy as people were getting off work. Love that they are dog friendly!
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
As a a person who lives in Seattle, let me say, this is a great find in downtown Everett. They always have an awesome selection of amazing beer, including ciders. I'm amazed at what I've been able to try there. Everything rotates so I'm constantly trying new things, which is fun. They don't have food, but make it super easy to order food. I love this place!
google avatar

John Allen Z.

Yelp
Great beer bar, lots of selection. They offer no food, but you can get Thai or a sandwich delivered. Nice little joint.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
The Independent Beer Bar located in downtown Everett is the perfect bar for pregame Everett Silvertips events or even just to meet your friends for drinks. The Independent Beer Bar is easy to find, near the Angel of the Winds Area, lots of interior seating & space, good local brews as well as friendly & knowledgeable bar staff. Check out The Independent Beer Bar on your next visit to downtown Everett.

Yelp
Wow! What a great time at the Independent tonight. Middleton brewery was here tonight for a tap takeover. Lots of VERY interesting beers available tonight. There are about 50 crazy craft loving beer fans here tonight enjoying the festivities. The crowd is happy. Middleton has some representatives here doing raffle prizes. The ambience is high energy, fun, and all seem to be enjoying the unique beers available here. I'm having a collaboration IPA from Middleton, Crucible (which I love), and Lazy boy. It's called S.E.P. New England Style IPA. What it lacks in a creative name is made up with an amazing taste. Come and get it while you can, especially if you're a fan of the NE style IPAs.

Yelp
We love this place! Great owners, good bartenders and pel meni dumplings!!! Thank you for getting my Seattle/Bellingham craving somewhere in the middle!
google avatar

Kate K.

Yelp
I dig this place! I had a jalapeño cider here on a sampler tray that I still think of to this day. We were able to bring my friend's dog and order food from the Thai spot down the street. Highly recommend checking it out if you're into craft beers and what not!
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Oh yeah. Stopped by taco Del Mar, brought over a plate of food and a nice craft cider in a nice upscale dog friendly warm inviting establishment. Excellent selection of less common fermentations, nice change from angry orchard and bud.

Taylor H.

Yelp
We stopped here after dinner and it was the best decision! The bartender was so welcoming and attentive, the bar is kept spotless but feels very relaxed and comfortable. Amazing beer selection and a good amount of board and card games to choose from - which are also kept tidy with no missing pieces! We recently moved to Everett and I'm so happy to have found this bar right in the heart of downtown!

Yelp
This place is absolutely awesome. Excellent rotating beer selection. Great atmospbere. Clean. Growlers. Go there!

Yelp
Very good beer, and good place to relax after busy day. Very good service. Location is great, in the downtown Everett.

Yelp
This place is awesome. They rotate their beer often, great selections, great workers, and dog friendly. Do I need to say any more ?
google avatar

Yelp
These guys haggled me. Lol! I gotta give props to them though. Service is on point. Music is definitely on point! Great beer and chill guys! Upped to 5 stars since we are now pretty much regulars. I know you guys are reading this! Lol Cheers.

Katie J.

Yelp
Great beer selection! The owners were the ones who were pouring and serving the tables. They were entertaining and went into why they loved the Russian Dumplings. Which leads me to....GET THE RUSSIAN DUMPLINGS. We tried both the potato and beef. Although both were tasty the beef is where it's at.

The R.

Yelp
We may be a little biased because we've been coming here since they opened almost 6 years ago but there is a reason for that. They have an ever changing tap lineup and most importantly they have a had a consistent crew of great beer tenders who make you feel like family. Come check it out, the vibe changes based on who's working and the time of the night but we always have a great time when we visit.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Great bar! Owners were in and were super nice! Service was awesome and the beer selection was great! No real food but they don't mind your ordering in or bringing it in with you. We ordered from the Thai place and they delivered right there!
google avatar

Arnica B.

Yelp
Loved this place! The bartenders were super friendly and the tap list had a nice selection of beers and ciders. Having moved to Everett from Seattle recently, I was happy (read:relieved) that there are in fact places in downtown Everett that are bustling with "cool kids" (or cool 30ish-year-olds) on a Friday night. I will definitely be back for another Friday night hangout with friends.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Great place to visit after Silvertips game. Great atmosphere and lots of choices from Draft beers/ ciders to bottled and can brews with excellent local options! Will definitely visit again

Julie M.

Yelp
This bar had such fun vibes and such awesome staff. The drinks were great and the bartender Jeff was amazing. Definitely check it out when you're in town 5/5 stars!!!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
I'm a fan! With the closing up of basically everything on Hewitt the Independent is a breath of fresh air. Great corner location so the place always light and airy. The staff is great and extremely knowledgable. The space doesn't have a kitchen so they allow outside food to be brought in and they have access to all the local restaurants some of which will deliver to the bar. Dog friendly with a great rotation of taps this place appeals to everyone (they even had some coors light in the fridge) This place gives me hope for Hewitt
google avatar

Karrissa D.

Yelp
They always have GREAT selections, especially for different ciders (not just plain) and sours (which are hard to come by in Everett.) The prices are extremely fair and the owner Doug is great to converse with. They give great recommendations and I love the playlists! Best part is it's only 4 blocks from my apartment. They allow you to bring in any kind of food or games that you may please as they are set on giving you the full independent beer experience. Always really good information on each tap they have. Doug has mentioned before that they keep all kinds of beers and wines in bottles/cans to suit ANYONE that comes in, including a friend that gets dragged along but prefers the lighter beers (coors, bud light, etc.) There is now a book & beer club going on which I have not yet attended but seems like an AWESOME idea. If you come in first 2 hours of the day's opening and stay throughout, you get to keep happy hour ($1 off) prices all night long. All in all this is a really cool, new place unlike most I've seen before. They are not a brewing company so they have the freedom to choose whichever brands and brews they feel are the best! Definitely worth checking out, even if you're not a big beer fan.
