The Inn at Newport Ranch

"On Northern California’s Mendocino coast (a good 3.5 hour drive north of San Francisco, six if you chose PCH1) this inn on the grounds of a 2,000-acre cattle ranch has more than a mile of cliff top oceanfront and 20 miles of trails to tackle on foot, horseback, with a mountain bike, or on ATV tours. Steep mountains covered in redwood trees provide a dramatic backdrop. Here, it all about spare luxury. It’s the antithesis of lodges further south in Big Sur. Meals are on request (most guests drive 20 minutes in to Fort Bragg for sustenance beyond breakfast), there are no TVs in any of the ten guest rooms housed in modern, cathedral-ceilinged lodges and although a new spa just opened this year, the Inn is best suited for couples and families looking for long, languorous weekends simply watching the weather change in the wildly remote corner of the state. Editor's Pick: Hot List 2016"

Ancient Redwoods, Empty Beaches, and Foraged Fine Dining on California’s Northern Coast | Condé Nast Traveler

"'There's a history of booms and busts here,' said Otis Brown, the resident storyteller at the Inn at Newport Ranch. 'Fish, lumber, cannabis—and we'll see about ecotourism.' He was shouting bits of local lore as he navigated a Kawasaki UTV around the inn's 2,000 acres of private trails, passing stumps of redwood trees that were cut down 150 years ago, many with their inner layers eaten out by enterprising black bears. ... The captain's quarters at the Inn at Newport Ranch has panoramic views of the Pacific. ... In the 1980s, Will Jackson, a Manhattan-based banker, saw a listing in the Wall Street Journal for a 100-acre coastal Northern California property that was priced the same as a single acre in the Hamptons. He bought it. A few years on, he purchased the adjacent lots, hoping to build a lodge with a back-to-the-land ethos. In 2015, he opened the Inn at Newport Ranch."

Incredible trip as a family of 3 with our baby. ||Excellent meals - Chef Nick is outstanding. The tasting course was one of the best meals of our life. The breakfast was outstanding as well. Great tea selection. ||One of our highlights was Odis, the kindest local guide with a treasure trove of regional stories. He gave us an unforgettable ATV tour, and we even had the privilege of planting a redwood sapling together, which felt like a small, meaningful way to give back to this beautiful place. We 10/10 recommend booking time with him.||Another mini highlight was Felicia, who cares for the garden. She taught us about the herbs growing on the property and even gifted us fresh lemon verbena leaves to take home.||We will be back hopefully for foraging season :)

Our first holiday as a little family—just the three of us and our three‑month‑old—couldn’t have been more perfect. We wanted a place where we could truly immerse ourselves in nature while savoring exceptional food, and this ranch delivered on every promise. From the moment we arrived, we felt a sense of calm wash over us. The bluffs and picnic spots offered some of the most breathtaking views of the California coast we’ve ever seen, and simply wandering the thoughtful grounds became one of our favorite pastimes. Breakfast each morning was nothing short of spectacular. Two nights, we treated ourselves to the seven‑course tasting menu—an incredible, Michelin‑star‑level meal. The head chef and sous chefs were incredibly passionate; they walked us through their homemade fermentation process and showed us how they forage and maximize every ingredient from the land. One of our highlights was Odis, the kindest local guide with a treasure trove of regional stories. He gave us an unforgettable ATV tour, and we even had the privilege of planting a redwood sapling together, which felt like a small, meaningful way to give back to this beautiful place. We 10/10 recommend booking time with him. Another mini highlight was Felicia, who cares for the garden. She taught us about the herbs growing on the property and even gifted us fresh lemon verbena leaves to take home. Mercedes was responsive and accommodating to our needs with our little boy, making sure we always felt supported. All in all, we stayed right on the property for three days and never once wished we’d ventured elsewhere. It was one of the most memorable vacations of our lifetime, and we cannot wait to come back.

Absolutely stunning views, which we enjoyed from our room as well as many points along the 2 mile coast that the property owns. There were only ten rooms but the common area is very spacious. The rooms have great character and we admired each piece of furniture. The service was very personable and we got to know most of the staff.||Amazed that with so few guests, the chefs serve a tasting menu as well as a family style dinner each evening. The cooking was superb, comparable to some of the Michelin starred restaurants. They have their own garden and we were allowed to harvest some of the vegetables to bring home. ||While the entire experience had been wonderful, the most memorable was the two hour tour around the 2200 acre property which took us along the coast as well as the into the forest. Otis our tour guide was perhaps the best guide we ever had. Amazingly knowledgeable, friendly and was able to make us feel connected to the land, and history. ||There is a state park 10 minutes from the Inn with lots of well paved trails and stunning views. The closest town Fort Bragg had some interesting offerings too, like candy cap mushroom ice cream.||There is no TV, no swimming pool, no children play area. But there are plenty of cows on the ranch. Of all the great hotels with similar price we had stayed along the California coast, this one did the best to our body and soul.

We were lucky enough to stay in the Birdhouse suite at the Inn in June and loved it. We’ve stayed in nice hotels around the world but this was the most special place we’ve been.||Our favorite part was the breathtaking scenery. We were steps away from beautiful cliffs and the ocean. Out the other side of the Inn, a short walk to a redwood forest. As a guest you have access to the entirety of the property and rarely see other people walking around. We often felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. ||We also loved the staff and activities. We went horseback riding on the beach and got massages in the spa but our favorite (by far) was our UTV tour w Otis. We did the shorter tour but could’ve spent all day learning about the property and history w him. Otis made the tour so special and should be a must for anyone visiting. The rest of the staff was excellent as well. From our perspective they did a great job letting us know they were there to help but also left us alone to enjoy the property (vs always hovering around). We really loved the atmosphere this created. ||The food and drink program is impressive for such a small place. We did breakfast every morning, a supper once, and a tasting menu once. Everything was excellent and changed on a daily basis. Outside of the sourdough (perhaps the best we’ve ever had), meals change and include a wide variety of creative dishes. The menu is pre-set but that was fine by us. It was excellent. ||If you’re looking for rustic luxury, a disconnect from technology, beautiful views, and a great staff - this is your place.

We stayed in the grove suite and it was a gem. The property, food, and staff are amazing. The best part of the stay was joining Otis on a plant foraging tour. We traveled all over the ranch looking for edible plants and he made it very memorable for us! He has a wealth of information and made our trip special. I highly recommend this activity if you’re staying there!

A place we would go back to many times. Of all the hotels and B&B we had stayed along the California coast, including many that charged a lot more; this one is one of the very best for our body and soul. It is quiet, intimate and romantic. The 2 mile private coastline offer plenty of great walks. We saw whales; sea lions; rabbits; many types of birds. The food was at a Michelin star level. The tour around the 2200 acre property exposed us to the forest with different kinds of mushroom and vegetation that can be foraged. No TV, no swimming pool, but Mother Nature is the great theater here.

I was debating whether to write a review, but I believe future visitors should be aware of this. In the Redwood building, there is absolutely no noise isolation — we could clearly hear conversations and other sounds from our neighbors. For a stay at this price point, the lack of soundproofing is disappointing and really took away from the overall experience.|That said, everything else was exceptional: the views, the food, and the staff were all truly wonderful.

We had the privilege to stay at the Inn for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Instagram Reels do not do the property justice. Truly a breathtaking get away. The staff could not be more accommodating and informative. They are very low key at the in and give you your space. Do not miss the property tour with Otis--it was magical and so informative. The Inn Keeper, Blair Foster was so accommodating and truly cared about our experience and well being. We stayed in the Captains Quarters which literally makes you feel like you are in a ship over the ocean. The food and cocktails were fantastic and creative. I wish I could remember some of the staff and their names. They were all so friendly and professional.

Yelp
This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed at that is closer to home or a "weekend getaway". From the moment you drive in, you see the beautiful landscape and the cows all gathered to welcome you in. Ian, checked me in and told me about the property and showd me around. You can book a room at the main building which feels like a very beautiful lodge. Or you can book one of the rooms outside from a little more privacy. The rooms are very warm and love how it does not feel like a "hotel" but a very nice lodge. Every morning, I was delighted to see DiDi smiling and warm face and the very delicious breakfast. Nothing like sitting outside the benches and tables and enjoying a cup of hot coffee. Lunch and dinner can be ordered at the restaurant but I chose to go into town. The trails and views in the back of thr property towards the water was simply beautiful and amazing! I really enjoyed my visit to this place and left feeling very refreshed and not wanting to leave! I will be back!

Yelp
My wife and I spent a luxurious Christmas with her mother at The Inn at Newport Ranch. I don't know where to start. The staff, scenery, food and accommodations were all amazing. Everyone working at the ranch -- from reception to dining to maintenance were all outstanding, friendly, and went out of their way to create a great experience. The grounds of the ranch were stunning -- from pounding ocean surf against towering cliffs to 2,000 acres of sublime redwood forests -- with miles of trails connecting all of them. The staff graciously offered us an ATV ride which allowed my mother-in-law to see much of the property and stunning views that would have been completely out of her reach on foot. Our guide hunted for mushrooms and watched for bears in the dense forest while pointing-out a dozen amazing picnic spots from the oceanfront up into the hills. The ranch is only a few minute drive from Fort Bragg (not Newport Beach in SoCal like we thought!) with several yummy restaurants and brewery, but we never left the comfort and convenience of our own hotel dining room for three breakfasts and dinners. The food was delicious, ample, and well served with several wine choices to compliment each meal. I dreamt of the french toast breakfast in front of the fireplace each morning. Finally, our two-bedroom suite was one of the most impressive rooms I have ever visited. At least eight trees (yes, trees!) passed through the suite from below the floor up to the ceiling. The fireplace made a cozy room that we didn't want to leave. The full kitchen allowed us to bring our own food and drinks. Both rooms had comfy beds and their own small bathrooms. But the icing on the cake was the hot tub right outside our back door overlooking the ocean cliffs and ranch pastures. There were so many activities we never even got to experience! A lovely sauna on the second floor, a large meeting room and spa below our building, whale watching, mushroom foraging trips, picnics, horseback riding and mountain biking mean there is something for everyone at the Inn at Newport Ranch -- even if it's just reading a book in front of one of the four fireplaces or the wrap-around deck! For the record, our stay was very expensive. I believe dinners were $95 per person, and the extra activites all have a fee. I'm guessing that I might sound like someone who works for the ranch, but I assure you that none of us have any connection. We were simply so impressed with the property and had such a wonderful holiday experience that I wanted to make sure others learned about this distinctive getaway.

Yelp
My experience with this inn never got off the ground because the GM was inflexible about extending a discount that was offered about 3 weeks before our early October reservation. Instead of doing what would be considered fair, a wise business decision, and likely have made me a repeat guest, she refused to let us take advantage of a 15% discount offered to mid-week guests. Her reasoning was the room was already $200 less than it should be, although it was still being offered online at the price we reserved it for ($600/night), and anyone who booked a room midweek would be able to take advantage of this offer. I was not offered the discount and penalized for booking early. I decided to cancel our reservation mainly on principle. It would have cost them about $270, but we would have spent much more on dinners and activities offered on the premises. They knew this was going to be the place we chose to spend our 20th anniversary and we booked in advance, but she still was willing to have us cancel and put the room back up for grabs at the same rate, plus the 15% off to someone else - pretty much a slap in the face. On top of all of this, they still charged me the $50 fee to cancel. Nice. There's no point in asking ahead about any upcoming discounts/specials, either. When I originally booked in August, there was an offer discounting a third night stay, but that was ending that month. I asked if there might be any upcoming offers for the dates we were reserving and was told "no." I don't feel that this place cares much about customer experience, although they try to make it sound that way. The whole thing just made no sense and soured my experience with the Inn at Newport Ranch.

Yelp
We had the most magical experience here, but the highlight by FAR was the mushroom farm with Felicia and the garden tour with Felicia! She was marvelous and so knowledgeable about every single plant and mushroom. She taught me so much in a short time, and was such a joy to be around and learn from. Her partner Otis is also wonderful and gave us a great Atv tour, and taught us some great history! I would 100% recommend everybody who has an interest in learning about the land use the opportunity to learn from Felicia. I promise you will learn something and be in awe of the amazing vegetable garden.

Yelp
What an amazing location! Not only did we feel welcomed when we arrived, but the entire trip the staff made us feel special. We were planning on going into town our second day, but the grounds and the food at the Inn made us just want to stay and enjoy the property. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters which had the best views for star having and watching the sun rise and set. Some key staff members that I would like to thanks for making it a memorable experience are Ian, Monica, Elliott and Brea!!! Thank you for making our 26th year anniversary a great one!

Yelp
Beautiful setting with nice accommodations. This is less hotel than it is a central lodge that hosts a few guest houses, which can be easily subdivided. We were sold on the view, and that did not disappoint. The place is fairly remote, so dinner options are pretty much at the lodge and choices are basically a meat or fish and a salad or soup, but the meals are well done. The wine list and cocktail list are both quite good. Staff are very friendly. Blair seems to have all the facets in her domain and we met Bre, Dominique and Brittany, who were all super nice and helpful.

Yelp
While an incredible property, and coastline, and ambiance, and the hotel staff was great; the restaurant dinner was dissapointing. Especially the lamb dish that felt more like a canned meat put on a platter with some garnish. In addition, the flow of meal service seemed off. Given how much they charge, it doesn't seem like they are investing in their staff and not providing them enough support/time.

Yelp
Stunning location. High quality all around. We've just visited and haven't stayed there as we're locals. It would be an amazing destination spot for a family gathering or wedding.

Yelp
ATV tour of the ridge at the Inn at Newport Ranch in Fort Bragg, Ca was amazing. I see why they call it a ranch now. Very relaxing, remote, and quiet resort on the california coastline. I wish the weather was nicer, however, it is still an amazing place to visit even with the fog.

Yelp
My husband and I were married at The Inn at Newport Ranch in summer 2018. More than 1.5 years later, our friends and family still talk about how beautiful this venue is. Sweeping coastal views from almost every corner of the ranch created the most magical weekend, and the inn's unique architecture speaks for itself. We also could not have asked for more professional, organized, helpful, and kind people to put together our vision for the day. Patricia was easy to work with throughout the planning process, and the staff's attention to detail was remarkable. I still remember being so pleasantly surprised that someone had placed poppies across the name cards when they set the dinner table. The orange color so perfectly complemented the blue in the name cards and matched the orange flowers in the centerpieces. Lastly, the food was phenomenal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner!), and the kitchen staff was able to accommodate dietary restrictions. It was such a relief to be able to sleep in on our wedding day, knowing that we didn't have to travel more than a couple hundred yards to the ceremony site. On-site catering was also a huge factor in our decision to choose this venue. Wedding planning can be stressful, so do yourself a favor and know that you'll be well-rested and your guests will be well-fed here at TINR. We were so sad to leave after an unforgettable weekend but hope to return to celebrate future anniversaries. Thank you, TINR!

Yelp
Do not stay here. Zero customer service, no concern for guests. They don't return calls and rarely even answer emails and phone calls. Sure will be going out of business soon.

Yelp
Vegans BEWARE. Wish we could give it a 0 rating. We live within half an hour of NR - and decided to treat ourselves to a splurge. We hadn't been able to travel anywhere since Covid, and thought this would be a wonderful experience. We'd never spent this much money on lodging, but wanted to have an exceptional experience. We're vegan, and we know it's difficult to find dining options that accommodate - and NR has a restaurant on the property. NR is located on gorgeous ocean view property and we were excited at the prospect of staying for 3 nights, dining at the Inn, hiking and relaxing. We proceeded very carefully while making our decision. We called to inquire if they could accommodate our vegan diet and food allergies. We were assured with absolute certainty there would be no problem. Their website also confirmed this as it states: "Our attention to detail extends to our kitchen. If you have any restrictions or requests please let us know; our chef would be happy to accommodate them." In advance, we drove up to the Inn to see the property. We discussed the meals with Bridgett letting her know we would be interested in three meals a day and again we were reassured that there would be absolutely no problem. We booked a three night stay from and again discussed and confirmed our dietary needs with Blair (the manager). We received a confirmation email and in that email they stated that they "shop daily as well as harvest from our gardens." The week before our stay we called and spoke with Daniel and again confirmed everything --- especially our dietary needs. The morning of our arrival we received an email from the Inn at 9:00 AM thanking us for informing them of our vegan restrictions and confirming again that the Chef would be preparing our vegan courses and to please contact them to reserve our table and make our menu selections. However, the menu attached to the email was their standard menu and had no vegan options. We immediately called them and they said "don't worry we are taking care of you." Dinner costs around $106 per person with tax and gratuity. (They advertise as a non-tipping Inn, and add a 15% gratuity on the entire bill at check out.) What we got: Salad, a handful (literally) of forbidden rice, one carrot cut in four pieces, a few peas and some Swiss chard on top and sorbet. The bread had sesame oil in it which was one of the severe allergies we had notified them about and which they confirmed in writing as well as verbally. We were not happy but at that moment did not say anything as we were trying to enjoy the sunset and this very expensive Inn which was a big splurge for us. We did ask if they could find a different bread for the next night and they were non-committal. Sleep: Our sleep was constantly interrupted by the hot tub turning on at around 2:00 AM which shared a wall with our bedroom and we were unable to find a way to turn it off and no one was on duty during the night. We were unable to get back to sleep. Complimentary Breakfast as described on the website: Breakfast - Start your day right with seasonal fruit, fresh-baked pastries, hot coffee, and ranch specialties such as eggs, waffles and pancakes........and it sports a breakfast picture ---- a gorgeous tray of fruit...raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, kiwi, oranges, pineapple, strawberries, melon, grapes, pear, etc. All we were offered was oatmeal with some blueberries. Also cold coffee that we waited 20 minutes for.....even though no one else was in the dining area. We asked about the $35 per person lunch and were told all the chef could make for us was a salad. The cost for the 2 salads would have been around $90 with tax and gratuity. This was really unacceptable and asked to speak to the manager. The waitperson saw we were upset and talked to the chef and came back to tell us that the chef said "tell them this is not a vegan establishment." Again we asked to see the manager (who did not appear) and at this point we decided to leave as it became clear that we were not going to get what we were promised. We never saw the manager, Brie, until we were leaving and she came running over to our car. We told her how unhappy we were and that they should not have promised us something that they could not deliver. She was chagrined as she said "this is not the kind of experience we wanted you to have; we want our guests to put their keys and credit cards away and just relax. I did look at our log and I see that you did speak with us several times about your diet." We told her we did not plan to pay for this experience and she told us that she would call us the next day as she "needed to figure something out." We never heard from her but we but we received full charges on our credit card. We disputed the charges but NR insisted on charging for all three nights. We even wrote to the owner in Vermont - no help there either. Ultimately they credited us a small fraction of the total bill.

Yelp
Like a poem brought to life. Our 3 day visit was not marred by the rain and the weather. If anything, our visit was enhanced. The rain, and gusts of wind, and dark skies added to the sense of isolation. The Inn is impeccably designed and decorated. No expense was spared. There is an uncanny level of detail applied to each and every surface, and every room. There are no bad rooms. All of the accommodations are to die for. The Innkeepers, and staff made themselves available and, were a fount of information and hospitality, especially Maddie, Patricia, Syngyn and Jonathon. It was their attention to detail that made us look forward to another visit in the fall. We gleefully recommend the ATV tour of the Newport Ranch grounds. It offers up the ranch's very best: from the herd, to the bluffs, to even the mountain paths. We got an inside beat to the areas natural features, it's history, and the ranch's flora and fauna. Check it out if you have the time.

Yelp
The most amazing ocean view that you can wish in a very peaceful area. I found this place through Travel and Leisure magazine and it definitely worth the drive. It has a great trail for morning or afternoon walk while you can enjoy the sunset and the waves of the ocean. The staff are accommodative and very nice. I highly recommand this place for a getaway.

Yelp
Amazing experience!! Came here as a surprise retreat for thanksgiving and cannot express enough the wonderful service of this establishment. Everyone is so kind and generous. The food, our room, ATV tour and the hiking trails are all amazing. If you like exceptional and charming atmosphere this is the place. Very relaxing to get away from the city. All the small details of this place make it an amazing experience and by wanting to leave! Kudos to the whole staff.. Patricia (amazing inn keeper) Evan, Mimi, Singyn, Cory, Marnie and even their hospitality ladies-Esther and Teresa were so accommodating and lovely! Once you arrive you don't want to leave anywhere. Possible future wedding plans here!

Yelp
We spent two nights here for our anniversary...it was pure magic!!! It is truly the most majestic inn - located on a ranch overlooking the gorgeous Mendocino coast - you will never find a more beautiful location!!! All the rooms are incredible and the architecture is absolutely amazing!!! We had the captains quarters, an incredible suite overlooking the ocean with a fantastic rain shower, huge Comfortable bed, and all the amenities you could want for. There was a hot tub just off our room and upstairs - beautiful set to enjoy the views while warming up. The food was delicious!!! A ranch style breakfast is included with your stay - and it is what I look for in a breakfast - big veggie omelette (sourced from the garden) with home made banana bread and local roundmans bacon!!! There is fruit and fresh squeezed juice laid out before and of course the best coffee - Thanksgiving! We got the dinner as well, and we're not disappointed! Grass fed filet, scallops, homemade dressing and locally sourced salad with the most killer dessert to follow - all for just $50 a person! Do not miss the ATV tour - it was the highlight of our trip!!! And the staff - I just can't say enough about. They were incredibly thoughtful, gracious, knowledgeable about the area, and simply fun to talk to! Special shout out to Creighton, Cindi, Corey and Evan - you guys made our stay sensational!!! Do not miss this gem of a place; in a year it will be impossible to get a room here!!!

Yelp
The Inn at Newport Ranch is absolutely one of the most stunning places I've ever had the pleasure of staying. Situated on cliffs overlooking the ocean, this place has it all - breathtaking views, incredible design and architecture, all the comforts of home and just a short drive from town (Fort Bragg) should you need to make the trip (you won't want to leave though). My husband and I stayed in the main guest house in The Chute guest room. From the moment we walked in to the main house, we were awestruck by the attention to detail in all the decor. Fort Bragg is a lumber town and you'll see plenty of gorgeous, custom built Redwood furniture. The whole house has a very warm, cozy and luxurious feeling...Nothing like cuddling up by the fire in the library, or sipping a glass of wine in the living room (which is enclosed by basically a bank of windows - so that crazy ocean view isn't wasted when you're inside!). Our room also had a fireplace, comfy chairs and bed, and a lovely bathroom with spacious shower (there's even a view from inside the shower!). Again, the attention to detail here was amazing - the artwork on the walls included framed photos of lumber being transported off the very cliffs you're staying on, a history of the town of Fort Bragg sits on the table, and even the books were meticulously chosen to fit with the feel of the place. Our room was also right next to the rooftop hot tub, which was a huge bonus. I'm accustomed to the night sky in the city, and out there the stars are so much brighter! The house also features a wrap-around porch, a big window-enclosed banquet room (with a "walk-in" fireplace!), a basement game room, a big fireplace out front and a gorgeous yard (perfect for frisbee, cornhole, kite-flying or just appreciating the view) connecting it to the Redwood Building (also a gorgeous feat of architecture). The beauty of this place is truly incredible, and the wonderful staff is so professional, kind, warm and accommodating. I absolutely can't wait to go back - you won't find a better place to stay in Mendocino or maybe anywhere.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem. From booking the room with Rikki on the phone, to being greeted and shown our room and also the dinner host Ian. The treatment is top notch from everyone there. Bridgette was also a host who was very helpful and pleasant. We ate dinner twice, the food was spectacular. The best abolene and scallop we have ever had, the dinner and breakfast chefs are very accommodating and great at what they do. We will definitely be back as much as we can, also everyone staying there was as nice and friendly as the whole staff. And that's not even telling about how beautiful the scenery is on the property or the activities they have to enjoy on site. Anything I say doesn't even come close to the whole experience, thank you all for such a wonderful Ft Bragg experience.

Yelp
This was our first venture out in this time of COVID and what a wonderful experience it was. First of all I felt very safe in all the precautions they took. All staff members always wore masks and a clean pen was provided on check in. The room was not entered by any staff during our visit. While this means that you don't have daily maid service, it also means that you aren't exposed to unnecessary germs. A wonderful breakfast is included and could be served outdoors or delivered to your room. We also enjoyed one of their excellent three course meals where we were the only occupants of the dining room. All the food was wonderful, including the different appetizers that were served during evening happy hour. The food is grown in their garden or locally sourced. Delicious! The property is magnificent. Don't miss the opportunity to take the ATV tour. Our guide, Ethan, was knowledgeable about the terrain of the property from coastal plains to redwood forests but also about the Indian inhabitants of the land. Whether hiking, enjoying the coastal views from the many benches placed throughout the property or just reading and relaxing on the porch, staying at the Inn was a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Stayed here for our anniversary. It was an amazing place where you got great views of the cliffs and ocean. We loved our suite! It was so rustic looking inside and there were several tree trunks in it. The bathroom was also nice and spacious. There was a jacuzzi located right outside our door and had a sauna on the 2nd floor of the building. They had awesome food during breakfast and complimentary wine/beer during happy hour - along with small dishes.

Yelp
The Inn and surrounding locations are absolutely beautiful. A fantastic location from which to explore the Mendocino coast. The innkeepers and staff are lovely and made our stay feel both special and familiar. We alternated between hiking, soaking in the hot tub, and sitting on the porch staring at the ocean. It was a great way to spend our 10-year wedding anniversary (and would be a great place to host a small wedding!). My only tip: say no to dinner! We were asked in advance to book for dinner - at $60 a head (and given the need to book ahead) we figured it would be something special. Instead, we showed up to overcooked pasta, canned artichokes, and a dry, dry piece of chicken. My husband and I ended up taking it as good fun - it was our running joke during the stay that we'd paid $120 for a meal he (not a cook) could have made. But I recommend you enjoy the rooms, the property, and the views - and avoid the dinner. (Happy hour is lovely, though!).

Yelp
in a word: amazing. other words - peaceful, beautiful, serene. stayed here for a wedding in Sept and had an amazing time. the grounds are so well maintained, the lodge is so comfortable, the staff are attentive, the food - DELISH. It could not have been a better weekend. wish I had more time. i did a 2 hour tour of the grounds, and Otis is a wealth of knowledge of the history of the area and of the flora & fauna. that tour could have been another 2 hours for me - I could not get enough. looking forward to a return trip at some point.

Yelp
There is a darn good reason this is rated so highly. I have never seen such attention to detail in my entire life. You could spend an entire day just admiring the craftsmanship of the facilities. The staff is second to none, I would just think about something and there they would be holding it it's almost like they were psychic Incredible coastline perfect amenities absolute A+ across-the-board

Yelp
Such an amazing stay! Craig and his wife were so wonderful to my boyfriend and I. Our stay was for our 1 year anniversary and they made it extra special. Loved our suite looking over the ocean with a hot tub right outside our bedroom. The amount of detail and work put into this place is definitely shown! Architect is so amazingly well put together. Dinner made by Craig was super yummy. And breakfast by Maria was scrumptious. I highly recommend everyone to stay here. Definitely a family friendly place. So much to do and explore! They have a ton to offer. The atv ride was so fun, exploring the property was such a privilege. Lots of trails to hike as well. Overall; such a beautiful extraordinary place!

Yelp
If you're going to spend the money for a bed and breakfast. This is the place. Omg we thought we were going to have or wedding here. Not going to but part of my mini honeymoon will end at this place before coming home. I will remember this place for life.

Yelp
This was the second stop on our trip from San Francisco back home to Portland, OR, and was, by far, our favorite stop. Bree was a lovely host who made me the best whiskey sour I've ever had. Thank you all for having us, and especially to Bree, you were wonderful and deserve only the best in life!

Yelp
My husband and I had the wedding of our dreams in September at this Inn. We would do it again in a heartbeat. So sad when it was all over. This place is so gorgeous it's unreal. Every single room is different and every single door is different and all unique in their own ways. I don't think you can get a bad view in this place. Everyone that works there is amazing and helped out so much! Was definitely the best day of our lives and we will remember it always and return again and again.

Yelp
On a huge coastal ranch, located at the former site of an 1800's lumber mill, The Inn at Newport Ranch offers premium lodging, fine dining, wedding services, ATV and horseback tours overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Tranquility and grace in the services and appointments of the inn, you'll find yourself lost in the endless views, redwood forests, crackling fire cauldrons with a glass of local wine.

Yelp
Wow. What an amazing stay at The Inn at Newport Ranch. Cindi, Creighton, Maria, Steve and everyone else that makes the magic happen made our trip so memorable. To start, the Inn is on an impeccable piece of property overlooking the Pacific and backed up with thousands of acres of redwood forest, grasslands for the livestock and even a rock quarry. We stayed in the Grove Suite, which is just next to the Main House. It was the perfect size for our family of 4. My sister and I shared the room looking south towards the Drum House and our parents had the master bedroom looking north. Our suite and the whole inn has all hand milled woodwork and there is a mill on site. Honestly the details in the buildings are to die for. It was the most unique and beautiful place I've ever stayed. Our days started with delicious breakfast prepared by Maria and Creighton- blueberry pancakes, omelettes, French toast, fruit parfaits, pastries, coffee, tea- all amazing. We had dinner at the Inn on our second night and each day we enjoyed wine and appetizers in front of the large hearth. Creighton took us on an awesome ATV Safari trip and we saw more of the property- including the cattle, quarry, redwoods and tried finding the bobcat Sheeba. Everything was so relaxing and peaceful. Our family is trying to think of ways to come back. Thank you for an amazing stay!!!

Yelp
This place is absolutely a charm. We had a wonderful time here. The Inn is on a beautiful property with so much history. The innkeeper and the staff are all wonderful. You feel as if you have been invited by a close family when staying there and you do not want to leave. The service at dinner and the food was all as good as it gets but with a warm and inviting vibe. It reminded me of a place I loved that we stayed in at Big Sur, with fireplaces in the rooms... but this place is more inviting and the craftsmanship of this place is more artistic, and aesthetically pleasing and the staff is terrific. I will come back and enjoy the tour next time.

Yelp
This is where state of the art architecture meets supreme hospitality. Excellent place for a truly unique romantic get-away. The views and the vibe are breathtaking. Definitely recommend staying at least 2 days here when you have something special to celebrate or you are seeking some inspiration. This place draws you into another world. Crayton, Cindy, and Maria sure know how to team up and cater to your every need while making you feel like a part of the family there-rather than just a guest.
