The Inn at Sugar Hill

I recently hosted a Bridal Shower at Sugar Hill. The venue itself is beautifully located on the river. From the courtyard, the view is just glistening water and beautiful boats. The food choices were unique and all very good, no complaints were heard. What stood out to me was the staff that acted as a team the entire day, the vibe was so chill and zero stress , which is what this Mother of the Bride needed.!! They were beyond helpful, even noticing a group of girls unloading boxes of decorations from their cars and the staff was right there to carry everything in and also helping to pack us up. There was constant light chatter and laughter, telling us we were doing a great job with decorations and making suggestions, changing tables multiple times with no hesitation! Their professionalism, cheerfulness, attitude and eagerness to help isn’t really seen too much anymore, unfortunately, but honestly just put us all at ease so we were able to thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Thank you so much!!

We had a private party at the Inn at Sugarhill and everything was perfect. The food was delicious. The waitress was amazing. The room was beautiful. The crafted cocktails were fabulous. Everybody was so accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Normally have great experiences here but unfortunately wasn’t the case recently with bartender dan. Ordered drinks for me and my husband and it seems as though he somehow forgot about us since we were still waiting after quite a while. We then got his attention about this and he was pretty short and rude about it. Seems like he has issues communicating and following through

Service was awful. Extremely disappointed. Steak was perfect. Other than that, the food was just ok. Chicken was salty and rubbery. Arrived about 20min early and decided to grab a drink at the bar since there was nobody at the hostess station to greet us. Drinks were good. Bartender’s mood was not good at all. When we were seated, only one set of silverware was given to us and we had to ask for the other set. After we finished out appetizers, we waited close to 20min before someone came and cleared the table (waited so long that we stacked the plates ourselves). KC steak was very good. That’s it. Chicken was average at best. And once again, we were left waiting. Almost a half hour, no refill on water, to the point my wife had to go find a server (not ours) to get some water. This part is totally unacceptable. Also, in the middle of our meal, the valet was forced to drop my keys off because their shift was cut short. I found this completely unprofessional. What could have been a great time, was anything but. For a $200+ dinner, this place left a lot to be desired. With so many other “high end” restaurants in the area that will take great care of you, I cannot, any more strongly, recommend staying away from this place. The Inn at Sugar Hill has a lot to learn about customer service before we even consider returning.

Rooms are absolutely filthy. Better off staying at a roadside motel. This place is a complete joke. Hair all over the place, moldy shower curtain, a toilet that doesn’t stop running lights that don’t work, stale prepackaged pastries and the list goes on.

Had a great birthday here last week. First time at Sugarhlll and will definitely be back. Gorgeous waterfront views, great live music. Husband got a prime rib cheesesteak that he loved. Very generous portions. My lobster roll was incredible. Our server, Mike, was awesome. He suggested a cucumber spritz... we ended up having 5. lol.

Came here for Dinner. Great: -Our view from the deck -Our Server Dan -Central Location Good: -Food -Price Not Great: Mixed Drinks especially the Margarita. I would definitely return!

Sat in the inside bar for a drink and the new bar tender was amazing. Went to the outside for another one and my husband and I were completely ignored. We were sitting for 5 minutes and nobody offered services. A Caucasian couple came in and were served before us. We ended up leaving. Needless to say. Felt like a prejudice environmental. If youre a person of color/Hispanic you're definitely not welcomed.

Stopped here for pre drinks. They have a nice selection of specialty cocktails and a friendly bartender. We were a party of six, but they were very accommodating to us considering we were just having drinks. They offered for us to sit at a table. Our waiter checked on us several times while we had two rounds. Parking is a bit small. There may be an over flow option, but I'm not certain where.

Great ambiance with view of the water. Food is good and Jodi at the bar makes a great Espresso martini! We came in the Spring before the crowds! Bands are great in the summer too.

Hey Yelp, this place is open. It just changed owners in march. Wow these reviews are all over the map. Good food. Perfectly fine everywhere else. Photos: the scallops app and the pork chop appetizer. Ambiance: this is only for the indoor dining. Super charming, great view. Service: Sadly, meh. I hate knocking servers, but ours wasn't the most attentive (we only got one water refill after everyone at the table had drank all theirs and then an additional 5 minutes, in between courses) and there was another gap after we ordered before he brought out the wine. He also seemed confused on how to best serve our group of 5 and unwilling to walk towards the head to the table where 2 of us were. We also got bread kind of late. Food: we all loved our appetizers but holy hell are the salads are huge! That could be a main course, easily. Step that back by maybe a handful or two of greens. It was a lot. My scallops and the acorn squash crisps were amazing. For the mains: the pasta got compliments as did the sea bass. The short ribs and the salmon (not pictured, obvs) got rave reviews. Sadly , my Parmesan pork chop was meh. The pork felt a smidge overcooked and everything about it felt heavy. I needed more zip from the horseradish and Dijon cream sauce and pairing that with mashed potatoes and literally 6 stalks of asparagus is a CHOICE. Also, not every main needs to have mashed potatoes. Online menu isn't accurate by the way. There wasn't a crab cake on the menu in person and a couple other things were different. Huge portions by the way.

Booked the Bnb Last Minute for our Friends wedding that was onsite. Wasn't sure what me and my husband were getting into as we have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. Let me just say this house was built in the 1800s but it's is so beautiful we had originally booked the Abbott room but our flight was delayed and wasn't able to arrive the 1st night we booked so Jodie the onsite manager was quick to upgrade our room to the Pennington suite. Big restroom nice comfortable bed and ac kept the room surprisingly cool We even could look out and get a view of the wedding venue and wonderful water scenery. Although there wasn't a fridge in our room the community mini fridge met our needs perfectly, always stocked with ice waters. Overall I would highly recommend this cute and quaint Bnb . Didn't try the restaurant but it definitely smelled delish. The staff was always there to help with any questions as well which was a huge Plus. Over all Id fly in From La again any day just to Stay here. Only thing I'm sad about is we didn't bring our fishing pole

Had reservations last night for the Patio. I called and asked if we could change to inside because if predicted heat and storms. The happily obliged. The ambiance is pleasant and welcoming. Our server, Aliegh was terrific. Attentive and extremely friendly. Food was outstanding. Menu has something everyone's tastes and budget. Highly recommend. Looking forward to many more visits

Had a wonderful experience celebrating my father's 70th Birthday! Food was delicious, beautiful atmosphere and the staff was efficient and on point. A great time was had by all! It was a perfect evening making great memories!!!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the service, food and overall experience we had at the Inn at Sugar Hill. Holly, Jodie, Kristy and Logan were amazing. We had my Father's funeral celebration luncheon there this past week. The food was delicious! The team made sure all went smoothly and the ambiance was perfect. I would highly recommend the Inn at Sugar Hill.

It's fine, more atmosphere than food taste. Go here for the atmosphere but right nextdoor to Freddy's for better food.

Ate outside, NOT good. Muddy, no grass, expensive for quality of food served on paper plates.

My husband, daughter, and I sat out on the dock. It was a beautiful summer night to sit on the water. The service was absolutely terrible. The worst we have ever had. Our waitress blatantly ignored us the entire time but checked on tables right next to us multiple times. We were not asked once if we needed anything. I considered going up to the bar to get us drink refills. In my opinion the food is overpriced. $110 for a burger, a sandwich, and tacos. Very disappointed. We are local and will probably never go back.

Pictured are the oysters and pork chop. Food- I tried their pork chop which was HUGE! Their portions are great and very reasonably priced. I typically order seafood when I dine out but I've heard great things about the pork chop and it didn't disappoint. Sometimes restaurants miss seasoning the sides, as the protein is of most importance and Sugar Hills mash potatoes were delish! The broccoli rabe paired with the dish was equally as well seasoned. I'm not sure that you can go wrong with anything you order there though. Aesthetics-The Inn's aesthetics can be assimilated most similarly to an older Victorian home. It has a homey vibe with all character of an older home (for those who choose to pay attention to the details). I appreciate the molding, formal table setting, fireplace, and classic aesthetics the Inn has to offer. Service- I had the most amazing server! Marissa was patient, kind, and very informed about the menu. She typically works weekends (as she informed me), so definitely request her!

What a nice evening! The place has a special, historic charm. We chose too sit at the bar. It was a comfortable spot. The bartender, Scott, was great! His service was attentive and he was absolutely sweet. The Charcuterie Board was fantastic! Cheeses and meats paired with figs and other fruits, olives and honeycomb. The perfect start with a glass of wine. My dining partner was not a fan of the blackening spice, but I enjoyed it. The seafood was cooked well and the risotto was delish, served with some sautéed vegetables. The Creme Brûlée was devine. An all around nice evening. I look forward to our next visit.

If I could give a 0 star I would. We arrived and told our server we were in a rush to check into our hotel and 45 minutes later we were advised that we were behind a 30 people party. My gnocchi tomato sauce was like tomato soup and my wife's flounder was tasteless. She asked for veggies to be cooked well and they were not. Slow service and lousy food. Stay away! They did take two meals off the bill.

Have always heard really good things about this place over the years and decided to stop in for dinner and drinks with some friends, little did we know we were heading for a culinary catastrophe. When we first arrived, the building is rundown it's an old building, but unlike other older buildings like the Franklinville Inn, that's taken care of this building is not. Pieces of wall missing from over top of Windows, chipped, paint drywall screws, holding in mirrors on the wall, just overall I really sad and old looking rundown appearance. When we first got there, we ordered drinks. My wife and a couple of her friends ordered mixed drinks when they received them they were very watered down and had no taste of alcohol whatsoever. My wife is not a drinker, maybe gets a drink 1 or 2 times a month and everything is really strong to her and she even said it didn't taste like there's alcohol in it. So they sent the drinks back and about 25 to 30 minutes later We had to ask for the drinks again to actually get them and when they came back, they were exactly the same so they were taken off the bill. Don't expect to get a good mixed drink here because apparently they don't know how to make them and they water down their alcohol. After that annoyance we decided to order our food, Some of us got entrées some of the other couples just got a couple appetizers. After about 10 to 15 minutes later we started getting food, the problem is the food did not all come out at once. One person got an entrée the other got appetizers, about 20 minutes later another couple random people got some appetizers I got my food last which was about 40 minutes after the first entrée was served. How does a restaurant send out some appetizers to some people and others get their entrées at the same time and then flop it and a half hour later the people that got appetizers, get entrées and the people that got entrées get appetizers. What a complete mess, a total breakdown of communication and the inability to run a restaurant, serving people at the same time at the same table is restaurant 101 its basics. I got the brisket flatbread and it was tasteless, It had no taste zero flavor. It was a mushy mess and a complete waste of money, in fact, every single person at that table (5) said their food was disgusting. The salmon had no flavor. The lobster roll was nasty, everything that was ordered that night was a complete waste of money. The food was so bad that the number one item on my list for the entire night was the french fries. It's pretty bad when you go to a fine dining restaurant and the best item that you ate after trying 8 to 9 different things was french fries. Our server was really nice, sitting by the lake was very nice but the food was absolutely garbage! And to top it all off when I used the men's room there's no paper towels there's no toilet paper. There is no hand soap, welcome to the sugar hill inn! The price that we paid for the food and what we got was absolutely shameful. Do not go to this place expecting any type of a good meal or a good drink, they do not have a clue on how to cook or run an effective and efficient kitchen. After telling some people of how bad our experience was, we found out later that new owners had bought the restaurant a couple months back maybe six or seven months ago. And their reviews reflect that, what once used to be fine dining and a very good restaurant in the area has gone downhill, down the sugar hill if you will. It was really so bad that we left there went to the Ocean City Boardwalk and a boardwalk pizza and it was so much better than the food that we got at the Sugarhill inn. Whoever bought this restaurant please sell it so that somebody who knows what they're doing can buy it and take it back to what it used to be, what we've all heard about for years a respectable place to eat.

So FIRST of all, this place isn't closed. I can't check in on Yelp, but I'm literally writing this from the Abbott room that I booked because there was NOTHING under $500 in AC when I just needed somewhere close to sleep for the night. The Good: - The staff here are super nice. Wendy, the Inn keeper, and Sarah, one of the servers, were so nice to us and accommodated our few simple requests. - The rooms, while tiny, are 1) charming in an old, historical way, 2) clean and well maintained, 3) exactly as they are advertised. We never intended to use this as anything more than a place to spend the night after a night out in AC, so we weren't expecting anything more than what we got. They also had a tv, wifi, and both central and window unit air conditioning. (We also found, too late, that the room had a blow dryer, and iron as well.) - Despite being an old, creaky building, and the rooms being so close together, I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't hear noise coming from the other guests. - Muffins, juice, coffee, etc were available for gratis at all times. Everything else: - Good lord. The place was a disaster when we walked in; boxes, papers, supplies, books, receipts, flotsam, jetsam, etc. The old dining room was being used as spillover storage for all manner of shit. Unprofessional to say the ABSOLUTE least. Working employees were scarce, as they were outside near the dock, tending to the dining patrons. - And that was after we were able to actually GET in; every door was locked, and the closed sign was out front. They were CLEARLY open, as the river dining area was jumping, and servers were running back and forth from the house. We finally found an open door, and a working employee, who then called the inn keeper. But, it's discouraging to see a place you're supposed to stay at, be locked up, with closed signs all over the place. - I just praised the rooms, now I'm going to also rip them fairly as well. They ARE old, and TIIIIIIIINY. There is barely room to move in the room. They have a funny smell, and the AC situation was less than ideal. Despite there being both central and window units, the room got uncomfortably hot to sleep in. Either that, or the beds have mylar survival blankets or something. I woke up multiple times throughout the night, just too hot to stay asleep. The Inn at Sugar Hill wasn't my first, second, third or 12th choice, but it wasn't a bad experience. The accommodations are staggeringly old and small, but they have been updated with a few modern amenities to make things comfortable enough. I certainly wouldn't seek out the Inn at Sugar Hill for another stay, but this kind of establishment just isn't MY cup of tea. An older couple, or history buff, or low maintenance person might really appreciate the old world charm.

Went at 6 pm. Left at 9:23 pm. Six people two got their dinner and finished before the other 4 dinners came 25 minutes late. One col and three over cooked. Horrible

This is a review for the outside outdoor area on the river that is open in summer. Outdoor grille food is much improved. Gun games, live music. Inside for fancy occasions.

New ownership. Ambience & staff are pleasant but food quality is poor. They overcooked the lobster, other dishes underwhelming & not cooked properly. The veal short ribs were loaded with salt. Veal wasn't even veal grade. Very disappointed . Hopefully these new owners get better chefs and check on food quality. At these high prices for subpar food I won't be returning.

We could not have been more impressed with the service and food we experienced tonight! We were lucky enough to have Desire as our server! She's a delight which added to our amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious! The new Portebello mushroom appetizer, definitely a 10!! We had the Chicken Sorentino, so yummy! And the Prime Rib was cooked perfectly! We will definitely be back!! (hopefully soon)

One of the most picturesque old inns of South Jersey is the Inn at Sugar Hill in May's Landing. May's Landing is directly on a basin of the Great Egg Harbor River as it winds its way to the Jersey Cape and Atlantic Ocean. The Inn sits on a rise looking out on the river, an easy walk from the historic town center. One real problem with a rating service like Yelp is that when an historic place changes ownership & management the reviews from the previous regime are carried over because no one would dare change the name of this place after a couple of hundred years. Well the new owners have def breathed new life into the food and atmosphere here as well as insured very friendly service. My recent meal here was a delight. The crab bisque was full of flavor. The herb-crusted cod accompanied by veggies & mash def hit the spot. And a bread pudding for dessert was good to the last spoonful. Because I was the designated driver back to Phillytown, I only had an iced tea at the bar where Helen the bartender was an entertaining raconteur. The new owners checked in to see if everything was okay or if anything was needed. All in all, the Inn at Sugar Hill is not at the level of gourmet fine dining but it will provide a delicious meal in an historic atmosphere with a gorgeous view and a friendly staff. That's good enough for me! Seasonal Tip - In warmer months there is a popular outdoor bar and terrace directly by the waterfront harbor for dining & drinking.

This is a tough review to make because there are a few aspects of the place that I've enjoyed and others not so much. Because they have an outdoor dinning experience in the summer and an indoor year round, my review will be for both. Outdoor (dockside) experience: I really enjoyed this aspect. During the spring/summer it's nice to be outside and enjoy the view of the river. The service has always been top notch. The bartenders have been great and the servers are awesome. The food has also been very good. I really enjoyed the flat breads and the raw bar. There have also been some specials that I really enjoyed. They also have live music which creates a nice atmosphere. An added bonus was the addition of large screen TVs during football season. We took advantage of this and had a great time watching the Eagles outside. We've had many good times dockside. This I would give 4 out of 5 stars. Indoor experience: Unfortunately the indoor experience did not matched the outdoor. The place itself is really nice, very rustic old time charm. However I was very disappointed in both my food and the service. My wife and I were part of a group of six and only one person was satisfied with their meal. I got the Mediterranean scallops, which were scallops in a Pomodoro sauce with olives and fennel. The scallops were not pan seared and didn't have the nice golden crust that I like. I also thought that the sauce and olives overpowered the delicate flavor of the scallops. The bread we got was very good and the oil with capers and spices was great. However, the butter was so sweet I didn't care for it. The service also was a problem. Our server would disappear for lengths of time when we needed to order drinks or get dessert. At the end of our meal we waited so long we decided to skip dessert. Also interesting was when they brought out the side dishes they said who had the mac and cheese. Nobody did, but it turns out the side was pasta and in their system they list it as mac and cheese. You could plainly see it was pasta and not mac and cheese. Our friends also had nearly raw steak. I'd give this 2 out of 5 stars.

Went for lunch. Deck was very pleasant and fans everywhere to keep you cool. Service was good - not great. A little forgetful. Lemons instead of limes in drink - forgot refills at one point. Three out of the meals were very good. However the shrimp in the cocktail was half cooked and inedible. The Dungeness crabs were small and just ok. And not worth the hefty $50 per plate. We will go back - few places like this in the area. Being on the river is very calming. We will be ordering different items off the menu.

Had a great business meeting with 15 people. Food was great and beautiful surroundings. Very good service

Wonderful lunch today. First time there, great bloody Mary's, great salad and flatbread. Will be back!

We came here for happy hour and to sit by the water. There was live music and the setting was nice. The menu selection is very limited and average quality. Our server was nice and checked on us frequently. I had the clams and cheese pizza flatbread. If you are hungry, it's decent. Otherwise, eat before you come. Enjoy a few drinks and listen to the music.

There's a new dockside restaurant @ the Inn called Izzy's River Landing. They've kept everything mostly the same but added seating at the top of the hill and updated the menu. My partner and I went last night for the first time since the new owners. There was a private function happening so we were seated up on the hill. I don't recommend sitting up there at sunset. The umbrella wasn't able to block the light and it was super hot. The servers who are very nice, all had to climb up the hill to check on tables which doesn't seem fun. We got the crab fries (without the cheese sauce) which were really good, and the aloha chicken sandwich which wasn't great (very saucy and hard to manage). The view is wonderful. There were some basic things that I didn't like. Place settings aren't automatically on the tables but it's also not self serve. Water came in a tiny cup from the bar and wasn't refilled. No one checked to see if we liked the food. Most of this was likely because of the distance from the main area and the private function. If you want a nice place to chill by the water this is a great place to hang out but I don't think we'll be going back for dinner.

Very pleasant server, nice view on the water, didn't love the food. Place could use a good cleaning and some updating. Prices are reasonable and entrees include salad and sides. The meatloaf was great, sides, not so much. Vegetables weren't seasoned at all and barely steamed. Would visit again but not for a while.

Thank you so much to our server Michael for such a pleasant experience tonight. Hats off to the chef for preparing our delicious meal. My Roasted Salmon Orienatta was perfect. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Seaford Pasta. We went to the outside bar this summer before it closed. It was nice too. I hope we get more time out there next season. #perfect

Food was delicious however all of the dishes were lukewarm at best which was very disappointing service and atmosphere are excellent however.

Wonderful food and waitstaff . The outdoor setup is really cute . However, on a busy Saturday night the indoor part (the actual restaurant ) is closed. The restroom is 2 porta potties behind a shed in the dirt, with no lights around the porta potties and of course no lights in them. At night. There was hand sanitizer at least, I'll give them that. And the owner or manager was yelling, literally yelling in rage, at customers who had walked into the restaurant to try to use the sink in there to wash their hands. We really used to like it there but this turned us off completely.

TO SAY ILL NEVER GO BACK IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I don't normally write reviews but I had to let ppl know because it's 2022 and this still is going on. Im a full time fire fighter, a light skin black man. My girl is a beautiful Latina woman. We dressed up and thought it would be nice to eat on the water by our home that we bought in 2019. To say I'll never go back there is an understatement. We were greeted and seated without an issue. looked over the lake and thought... "this is really nice". Then the mood gradually changed from confusion to anger. We waited a half hour to no avail. Every waitress/server refused to make eye contact. literally no one came to the table to ask us how we were, for drinks, nothing. I then noticed a white couple with an adopted black child also waiting to be served. they had gotten there before us so i just watched and waited, as every server around them avoided their table, to the point where the wife walked to the front to get someone's attention. I can already see the writing on the wall, but we decided to not over react and wait it out. well, 20 more mins later and it was obvious that no server had planned on coming to our table. it wasn't busy at all and most of the servers were just hanging out by the bar. and still i didn't want assume anything. I noticed another couple getting seated. They were white. I looked over to my beautiful but now hangry girl and said, if they ask them for drinks or food first we will just leave. I couldn't even finish my sentence before a waitress came around our table to get to theirs and ask "what are we drinking today" Fed up, I laughed, tossed my napkin from my lap on the table, and escorted my girlfriend to the car to go else where. It's a shame that now in 2022 this is still an issue at all. Again, I'm light skin, probably look more Latino than Black. our attire was very neat, clean, with linen and polo shirts. It's a real shame that because of someone's skin tone, in todays society, they may not be severed at a restaurant. Its appalling to think I moved into a neighborhood where it's oldest establishment operates on this level. TO SAY ILL NEVER GO BACK IS AN UNDERSTATEMEN! I'll never forget the faces that literally refused to look at mine. I'll never forget the young and old servers that treated me like less of a human because i don't look like them. I'll never forget the servers that would rather hang out by the front or by the bar rather than make some money or be burdened with serving us. AGAIN, to say I'll never go back is an understatemen!

Great establishment with even greater service! The live music is awesome and the view is amazing.

The seafood was delicious!! We came here for an evening on the water and a drink and it was splendid! Only reason it didn't get 5 starts was that they didn't have any frozen drinks on a 100 degree day in July.

Attempted to have dinner with family at the dock area July 3rd and was VERY VERY disappointed. We called ahead of time hoping to make a reservation and was told it is a first come first serve seating for the dockside seating. We arrive I let the hostess know how big of a party(8) I had and she tells me to give her a second no problem, then someone comes over saying there's 2 parties of 18 people that arrived and seating will be 25 mins. I arrived at the same time of one of those groups and they never even had to check in with the hostess which I am now confused, the hostess comes back after about 10 mins to then say it's going to be a 30 minute wait we can sit at the bar. I ask how did a group of 18 who walked in along side me get to be seated right away she stated that they reserved it and the other group of 18 called in ahead of time as well. So you tell customers over the phone there is no making reservations but accommodate these 2 large parties? Okay we are still willing to wait, let's sit by the bar and just have a drink in the meantime. Another large party comes in and I now see the hostess and staff members moving tables which they originally said were out of service being that their was no wait staff to cover those tables, we go back up to the hostess just to ask again about the tables and she says oh another large party came in they reserved as well, come to find out that the large parties know the owner and that's how they are able to be accommodated and make reservations. Okay still willing to be patient let's grab a drink, there was only 1 bartender who was working we sat at the bar for 20 minutes and couldn't order a drink, another party comes over to the bar since they are waiting to be seated and they get asked what they would like right away! Horrible service! We were very disappointed and left.

Very disappointed at the dockside bar. The bar lady didn't thin it necessary to end her phone conversation during drink order. Basic hygiene changed my drink order to something in a sealed can. Which was served air temperature with a side of ice. Crabcakes were reminiscent of Mrs Paul's. What could have been a pleasant evening just didn't measure up. Tuesday, September 5th, 2023

Met with immediate professionalism with valet parking by the owner Brian, who wears many hats at the Inn. We were immediately seated by our attentive hostess/waitress to a quaint Victorian style room. Each course was beyond our expectation and no plate was left with a crumb. We ventured out doors to a view of a stunning lake full of boats in the distance. Again we encountered Brian the owner who took our photo as the sunset with a beautiful back drop of the water, sailboats and music and laughter echoing in the background. Again Brian spent time talking to us like old friends. We retreated back inside to sing happy bday to my Mother by our table and the entire room of other guest! We finished our visit with a fair well from Brian as he came to the table to personally wish my mother a happy birthday as she enjoyed his wife's homemade cheesecake! The valet's as we departed, opened each door for all of us! Brian and team gave us that southern Georgia charm that we enjoy but with so much more! See you next time! Stopped in because we could hear a band playing from the street and the outside patio seemed to be a fun time. Staff were friendly and attentive, would absolutely recommend and will be back next time I'm in the area!

We had my Son's wedding here on October 29th, 2023. Everything was 1st class. Ashley, Jody and their Staff were very flexible with us when we came to decorate. The food and service were amazing! We couldn't have asked for a friendlier bunch of people. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a top notch affordable wedding venue. Thank you to everyone at The Inn at Sugar Hill for a great night!

We love to sit at the bar to enjoy our meal. Very sad that indoor dining is not open during the Summer(only the patio dining is available) The food was ok as we expected better from the new chef. Will try again when the bar is open.

We took the boat to dinner and had a great experience! A storm rolled in rather quickly- the staff and management did such a great job handling the situation. They welcomed everyone up to the inn until the storm passed! Their kindness did not go unnoticed! We also had a dog with us that they were very accommodating to. On top of their hospitality, the food and cocktail were perfect! All in all we had a great time at the Inn at Sugar hill!

RJ brought me here for dinner because I told him I have always wanted to stop here. We didn't have reservations but we were seated near the bar with a view of the water. This was a great find, our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was phenomenal. We started with the lobster Mac and cheese appetizer. The cheese was creamy and delicious with large chunks of succulent lobster. RJ ordered Chicken Maryland which was juicy chicken breast with huge chunks of crab in a Sherry cream sauce, and I ordered Emerald Scallops which was huge scallops in Sherry cream sauce with sun dried tomatoes and spinach. The scallops just melted in my mouth, they were amazing. We definitely will return to try more on the menu and maybe stay in the B&B.

Wow, wow and wow!!! I had Chef Izzy pick my meal and it was outstanding. My filet and crab topping was amazing. Meg the bartender always remembers my drink and it is awesome. Nina was hostess with the mostest and server as we went on Sunday night. Small business owners putting up a great product and staff. Forget corporate chain restaurants and go to this place. Also great history and views on the lake. Bread is also great. Give it a try and you will be glad you did!!

My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner with the lovely Helen. The food and drinks were delicious. We got to meet the new owner Yogi and his wonderful wife! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We can't wait to see what the new owners do to the place!

This is one of my Favorite Restaurants We love to go there especially to celebrate special occasions birthdays etc. I love the atmosphere and it's right on the water. The food and service is impeccable! From the time you enter the restaurant, your greeted with such a warm welcome... your made to feel like family . They have outdoor Dining as well as entertainment during the warm weather months! We had dinner there tonight to celebrate my Birthday, Tom was our Server,he provided us with outstanding service he made the whole evening so memorable! From our wine selection to our menu Choices... The desert choices were exceptional! Something for everyone! We had the pleasure of meeting one of the new owners Selda, She was so personable, friendly and so welcoming! I would highly recommend the Restaurant! Be sure to ask for Tom, he is an incredible server! Dee They have wonderful plans for "The Inn at Sugar Hill" Looking forward to seeing the new updates although the Inn is beautiful already!

Larry is the manager and our cook for breakfast. He is wonderful, friendly, talented and sincere. We had a lovely time during our 2 night stay! The location was perfect to drive to Wildwood Boardwalk and to go to Cape May. The room was lovely and quaint. The shower is tiny and it was right for us and I'm 5'5. I'm not sure how it would be for someone who is larger. It's half the size of a standard tub. The internet worked well. It has a Pokestop and there was cable. Parking was a breeze. The breakfast was amazing, the view gorgeous!!! They had iced tea, hot tea and juice available. I would just suggest they add more caffeinated keurig coffee cups. The restaurant had amazing crab bisque and vegetarian quinoa. The veggies were perfectly cooked, crunchy, fresh and delightfully seasoned. The chicken had a little too much cheese for me, but I think it's just a preference thing. I would probably get what my gf got bc the flavor was wonderful and light! I would totally come back here!!!! Larry and our waitress that night were very kind and warm, I had lost my luggage and they assisted in any way they could. If we come back, we would definitely stay here and probably upgrade our room.

Today my family took a late afternoon boat ride from Sea Isle City, NJ to the Inn at Sugar Hill in Mays Landing NJ. In my years as a boater I've enjoyed the ride up the river and the 7 of us decided to have dinner on the dock bar. Docking the boat was routine and we entered the seating area under the tent. We were approached in a reasonable amount of time by our server and she took our drink order. The soda beverages appeared to be flat, tasteless and watered down. I also ordered a cocktail (specifically) and received the opposite of my order. Fast forward but our server was MIA on many occasions and took our order. We had 2 burgers and a rack of ribs - which are the issue here. The burgers were obviously frozen mass produced product that was relatively tasteless. The Ribs appeared to be a mass produced product that came out of a bag, heated and served. This is not what you expect from a well established destination on the water. While we didn't express our dissatisfaction at the time we were extremely disappointed as this was a destination we brought many people (over the years) to enjoy a beverage after a nice boat ride. My wife and I have seen the quality of service in the hospitality industry spiraling downward for many years as we were in the in it in our earlier years. We will still take the boat ride but will not use the dockside grill as a destination for a meal in the future.
