We loved this boutique hotel! My daughter and I needed a room with two beds. The beds were SO comfortable and the decor was so fun. The staff was great and very helpful. The Puffin wine bar is below the hotel. So, the entrance is a little deceiving because you notice the bar first. It is a great location.steps from Cuba Street and 10 minutes walk from the National Museum. The bathroom products were fantastic. And again, the room was very comfortable.

We chose a large room and were pleased with its size. We had a toilet that was in a separate room than the shower, so that was good. There is access to 24 hour tea and coffee in the hallway including herbal tea. Also, lots of small treats were left for us in the room. The hotel is only a few minute walk away from lots of cafes and restaurants. We thought that the hotel was good value for what we got, and had lots of character with a slightly edgy feel.

My husband and I loooooved our stay here. Everything was super moody, comfortable and luxurious feeling. Fortunately we were double upgraded which sweetened the deal a whole lot from the beginning but from there everything else was still great. It’s inches from Cuba Street and heaps of great eateries plus walking distance to everything on the esplanade. Free croissants every morning - no further comment required (get there at 8 and they’re still warm). My only comment would be that it’s quite close to a venue that has live music on Friday and Saturday nights so if you’re staying on a weekend and a light sleeper be selective (if you can) about the direction of your room.

Can’t wait to come back. Staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. The attention to detail was exceptional - the little touches that make you feel so cared for as a guest. It also had a super unique flair and style. Location couldn’t be better. Very cheap car park nearby so also no issue. I am very much looking forward to my next stay. Thanks so much

During a recent trip to New Zealand we decided to look for a funky hotel in downtown Wellington. The Intrepid exceeded our expectations. The room was exceptionally large with a well-designed ensuite bathroom. There was funky art throughout the building as well. No restaurant here but you're right around the corner from Cuba Street. Excellent bar scene. If you're looking for a large chain hotel experience don't go here. If you're looking for a unique experience this is your place.

This is by far the best hotel I’ve had the privilege of staying at. It’s not the most “luxurious” hotel I’ve been to, but their attention to detail, environmental design, hospitality, location, etc. was top notch. Their handwritten notes, to a complimentary bottle of champagne for my honeymoon, to free snacks that they refilled daily, to the water and coffee stations on every floor. Seriously, they took away the worst parts of traveling and added a human touch to everything they did. I wish there was a hotel like The Intrepid everywhere I traveled. If you find yourself visiting Wellington, don’t bother looking elsewhere. This is the place to stay.

The best hotel I've ever stayed in - amazing location, incredible wine bar downstairs, they let me check in early, and they held my bags for me so I didn't have to drag them around town all day. There are so many cool little extras with the room and the service is incredible . Also, amazingly quiet considering a very busy street is right outside (and there were students having a big party the night I stayed) - you can barely hear it.

This hotel is unique and exceptional! I have stayed in a lot of hotels, and the Intrepid managed to be different, while also being near perfect. ||The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was well decorated, the fridge and snacks complementary, and the tea / coffee / water available on the landing very welcome. The dressing gowns were cosy and stylish. The room had an effective iron and ironing board. The view out the window was the back of some buildings but who cares - I was looking at the room decor and enjoying Wellington, not looking out the window! ||A great place for a couples stay 👍
