Love the Jamaican food here! It has become one of our most favorite eateries. The service can be a bit slow when it gets busy, but I promise you it's worth the wait. I highly recommend you visit this authentic joint if you're in the mood for a taste of jerk or curry chicken or better yet, oxtail!

Pablo Paul S.

Google
Today's wait longer than expected for not busy at the time. I thought possibly a good thing because maybe the food is been made fresh. I ordered Ackee and Saltfish. I was surprised at how small the serving size was for the price, pic included. Server seems preoccupied with his conversation with fellow employee then his phone. I rated this place in the middle because I had better service earlier in the week and the Jerk Pork meal tasted okay even though again the serving size was still surprising.

I visited The Island Spot in Carrollton today in celebration of Jamaican Emancipation Day, and I was blown away by the experience! They had a stew peas special for the occasion, and let me tell you—it was absolutely delicious! 😋 The portion was generous, the meat was tender and flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the plantains were sweet and golden. I also loved the fresh salad with avocado—it added the perfect balance to the meal. Not only was the food authentic and well-seasoned, but the presentation was beautiful (even in a to-go box!), and the service was exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, it truly felt like a little piece of Jamaica in Texas. 🇯🇲 Big up to The Island Spot for celebrating our culture with love and flavor. I’ll definitely be back soon!

The Island Spot is a solid Jamaican restaurant that we stumbled upon while shopping. Plenty of parking to be found outside. Patio seating is available. Great interior color with beautiful vibrations and frequencies. Felt like home when stepping into this restaurant. Shout out to all my West Indians! Love the musical sayings on their wall paying tribute to reggae music and legends. Sasha our server was friendly, accommodating and nice. She was playing the gospel jams on a Sunday! Thank you for the playlist. The Menu had many good selections to choose from. We ate outside on their front patio. Wife and I decided to share a plate with two proteins: fried fish with pickled veggies and curry chicken with rice n peas and cabbage. Food was good. Quality flavor with a homemade feel. It hit the spot for us hungry shoppers. Full bar with many cocktail selections. Rum is the name of the game in the islands. Love to come back here again and explore more of the menu when I am back in town.

We had such a great experience at this Jamaican restaurant for my hubby’s birthday lunch. The food was fresh, flavorful, and full of authentic taste, and the bread pudding was amazing!! As you can see in the picture, we devoured it. What really stood out was the service. Our server, Marlo, went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. He was attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. And just found out that he also made the bread pudding! OMG!! It’s rare to find both amazing food and excellent service in one place, but this spot delivered both. I’ll definitely be coming back and asking for Marlo!

If you’re looking for authentic Jamaican flavors with an island vibe, The Island Spot is the place. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality that makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is vibrant, since we dined on Sunday after church, the gospel music was on point. The food was absolutely outstanding! We had the Curry Chicken with rice & peas and cabbage, Brown Stew Chicken with rice and peas & cabbage and a beef patty with coco bread. The chicken was falling off the bones. It was so good we placed a to go order for dinner. The rich, flavorful gravy had us savoring every bite. Our server Marlow provided top-notch service. He was friendly, attentive and made some great recommendations. The expedient service, the vibe and delicious cuisine delivered an unforgettable Caribbean experience. Can’t wait to go back!🏝️🔥

Google
The food was not bad but it was not hot it came out warm. My drink was too sweet. We ordered key lime pie for dessert to go and the presentation was not there. I haven't been here in quite awhile so I can say it didn't taste as good as before. Our waiter was nice and attentive. Maybe better luck next time.

Google
I hadn't been to this restaurant in about 3 years and unfortunately I don't think I'm going to come back. The food that I ordered was perfectly fine but during my visit with my family we had a very long wait time for our food and no one came out to say anything or give an update I had to flag down a waitress to ask. And then when we paid our ticket, they tip themselves $30, stating that parties of five and up get charged a 20% gratuity. 20% for her just refilling water and bringing us a receipt. Although the encounters with the waitress were friendly, she did not need a $30 tip as she didn't even ask my family if they wanted refills for the drinks that they had ordered. My sister said that her rice was cold as well. My brother-in-law's oxtails were mostly bone, & they split them in half, definitely not worth $25 Unfortunately I have to agree with the rest of the people and say that the service is not great. By the way, nowhere on that menu did it say parties of five or greater usually in restaurants it's party of six. I think because we were short one person, they decided they were just going to charge 20% anyway. I tried to look for it on the way out, and there is nothing at the front of the store stating that parties of five or greater are charged 20%!

Yelp
Alright, we need to talk about this place. The vibe? Imagine chill island energy mixed with "come on in, we've been expecting you." Before I could even blink, I was greeted by Sasha's smile -- which, I'm convinced, could power a small city. She handed me a drink that was so good I considered proposing on the spot. I ordered my food, started up a little chess puzzle, and before I could lose to myself, BAM -- a glorious plate of jerk chicken landed in front of me... carried, once again, by that smile. My senses didn't stand a chance. The smell? Heavenly. The presentation? Gorgeous. The taste? I blacked out somewhere between the first bite and the moment I realized I'd cleaned the plate down to the fossilized remains of the chicken. If I hadn't been trying to maintain dignity in front of a lady, those bones wouldn't have survived either. I had the jerk chicken, rice and peas, and spinach -- all perfection. And did I mention Sasha's smile? Tip her well and see if she'll sing for you. Her voice is pure angel energy. 10/10. No notes. Perfect experience.

Yelp
Had a friend visiting from out of state that likes Jamaican food, and we did have a lot of time, but again they did us right. We were greeted promptly and seated at the platform table (good window view) with good energy from hostess to server. We were given good recommendations on food and drinks and also advised of the preparation time. They took great care of us. Thanks again for doing right when I introduce new people to the spot

Yelp
Needed some Jamaican food so me and my friends decided to give this a try. And this plate definitely fixed that craving. My order and thoughts: Oxtails are a little fatty. Plantains are great. Beef patty's are delicious. Rice and peas are pretty dry. Cabbage is very flavorful. Drink was tasty and strong!!
google avatar

Blessy S.

Yelp
I had a craving for Jamaican food and this place hit the spot. We sat at the bar and ordered a suggested drink from the bartender (definitely could've been stronger). I ordered the curry goat with rice and beans and cabbage. The food was so flavorful and the meat fell off the bone kinda good (mouth is watering just thinking of it). My friend ordered the oxtails and it was also sooooo yummy. I only wish they served a larger portion because I ate that way too fast lol. The service was really good and our bartender/ server was very helpful and friendly. It is a fairly small spot in the corner of a shopping complex. But they packed a lot of flavor and vibes in that small place. definitely will come again! As I was posting this review I realized I door dashed from this place a while back and remembered it being delicious then too!
google avatar

Yelp
So so yum! 4.5 stars -- and the only reason it's not a full 5 is because the beef patties could've been a little crispier. Other than that, this place was incredible! My family and I stopped in after church on a Sunday, and I'm so glad we did. The service was super fast and friendly, and the decor really transported us -- it felt like we were enjoying a warm summer day in Jamaica. You could feel the vibes. The mango wings were absolutely delicious -- sweet, tangy, and full of flavor. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly and literally fell off the bone -- so juicy and well-seasoned! My husband loved the appetizers so much we ended up ordering two more to go. The mac and cheese was another hit -- rich, cheesy, and full of flavor. We were so satisfied with our meal we didn't even have room for dessert (though we're already planning to come back and try the bread pudding next time).

Yelp
This is my second time visiting the island spot in Carrolton and they have been spot on both times. This time I got Mama Joyce's oxtails and they were falling off the bone tender. Our server was amazing at directing us on what she felt was good and her knowledge of the drink menu was great. Inside it's a very lowkey vibe exactly what you would expect from a Jamaican food spot. Great music, great vibes, and amazing food. If you're in the area or looking for some of the best Caribbean food in the DFW this is your spot.
google avatar

Brittany W.

Yelp
Now Island Spot....this mustttt be the diet patty because where is the rest of the filling?! I wanted to give you such a good rating because the coconut shrimp with the mango sauce slapped, but this patty is disappointing.
google avatar

Yu-kwong C.

Yelp
If I was handed a piece of overdone, burnt chicken, I'd probably turn it away, but not here at The Island Spot. I ordered the jerk chicken meal for lunch. The chicken skin was grilled as black as it could be, and at first glance, you might think the meat would be tough and dry. But the opposite was true. The meat was tender, moist, and full of flavor. The charred skin added a signature smoky taste that made it even better. This was my first visit. The vibe is very down-to-earth, with lots of bamboo decorations, a wood-paneled bar, and concrete-look flooring. If you're around the area, come by and give it a try!

Yelp
Craving oxtails and not minding a jerk spot, I chose this place, but I hate I came in 30mins prior to them closing because I'm sure it would've bn better if they weren't about to close. Anywho, my coworker and I dined in and we both ordered oxtails. We had the same sides of rice and peas, and cabbage. She ordered the plantains. It took our food abt 10 mins to come out. Everything was fresh, my oxtails weren't the hottest. My sides were hot. The taste was good. The restaurant was clean. We both ordered drinks. Our margaritas were good. I had watermelon. They had a decent kick. Our server was friendly. I'd return when I'm back in town!

Yelp
Coming from the east coast where there are many Jamaican restaurants, this Island Spot does not disappoint! I ordered beef patties, plantains, jerk chicken, jerk bbq, stew chicken, rice and peas and Cabbages. The truth is, the meats were a little salty but we're decently seasoned. The jerk bbq was INCREDIBLE! That was the best item that we ordered. Our server was kind and let us stay there until the restaurant closed at 10pm on a Friday night. We had a great time and enjoyed great music. You wouldn't think it's a busy place from the outside but it's a nice location and busy.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
$4.98 for one beef patty is insane. I hate to write badly about Caribbean restaurants but... They always struggle to make things right. As you can see in my photo of the beef patty, it's gummy, extremely oily and barely filled with any patty meat whatsoever... I've had real Jamaican patties in Jamaica along with American style and Trinidadian style, this is not it
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good 10/10 Bartender Malo was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.He have great recommendations on what to order.
google avatar

Jurel H.

Yelp
You get a nice amount of food and that's quite impressive for an oxtail entree. Oxtails were tender but I wasn't a fan of the gravy. Service was fast and was a simple process to order takeout

Yelp
So I've been wanting to try this spot for a while. My & my friend made a vow that we would try at least 2 new Restuarants every month. So The Island Spot was one of the places we picked for August. When I went I had a drink while I waited. I only drink brown so the host who was also the bartender made me an amazing drink. I had the Flaming Hurricane. For food I had the two meat plate with jerk and curry chicken with rice & peas and saffron rice. This food was soooooo delicious. This was my first time having Jamaican food and they did NOT disappoint. The service was amazing. The ambiance was very chill and relaxing. This food was so amazing we're going back another weekend. Def gotta get those jerk chicken nachos! Do yourself a favor and visit this place. Prices are great, service is great and food was amazing! PS.... I felt EVERY bit of that 1 drink! No weak drinks made! Double PS... I'm American not Jamaican. So what might be good or decent to me might not be to an actual Jamaican!

Yelp
I've been missing some good Jamaican food! We had a favorite family owned spot we went to weekly back home in LA, so I was really pleasantly surprised to find this spot. We do a lot of to-go but I've eaten there and I like the ambience. Service is great! Everyone is really friendly. I love the oxtail and red snapper and the chicken patties are my favorite. I highly recommend this place but come with an appetite!

Yelp
Great food!! The service was amazing. The two ladies working were very sweet. I will be back. Great portions. And they have brunch on Sunday's. Great chill ambiance.

Yelp
Food: The nachos were good as well as the 3 meat chicken combo. Service: Very nice people! Ambiance: Chill and casual.

Yelp
Yes! Another Caribbean restaurant for me to enjoy. I went in and placed an order for stew chicken and rice and mac n cheese. I got my order to go and was warned beforehand by the workers of the wait time. My food came out piping hot and they were very generous with the portions. My favorite part of the meal was the white rice. It was cooked to perfection. The stew chicken did have a tad too much browning in it but it was still delicious. The mac and cheese was good and had a different flavor. I definitely plan on going back next time I'm in the area. The interior is a bit dark and dim. They're a couple of tables and chairs and a bar with chairs. They were playing music. They were people seated enjoy their meals. The staff members I encounter were all pleasant.

Yelp
The Beef Pattie is Excellent!!!! Came out piping hot and spicy! The food!!!!! OMG is great and fresh!!! I can't wait to come back.!!! IYKYK!! The service was also top tier!great atmosphere!!!

Yelp
This place is delightful! The customer service is warm and welcoming. Although the mango juice promotion is no longer around, they still honored it. The ambiance is great! Makes you feel like you're on the beach. Food is delicious, I had the saltfish and Ackee and it was delicious. It wasn't overly salty! My husband devoured his oxtail too as you can see on the photo. We cannot wait to return to this place and try their other dishes!

Yelp
Born and raised Jamaican here so whenever I see a Jamaican spot you know I have to check it out!! First I will say, the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating options inside and a few option outside as well. I loved that they had some island music playing in the background. I went around lunch time and there were a few tables already seated. Service was pretty prompt for me to get seated, menus, water and my order taken. Food: jerk chicken, cooked well, seasoned pretty good. For me I like my sauce on the meat so I was disappointed it came on the side. But it had a decent kick to it. The rice and peas were cooked well and I loved that I could actually taste the coconut milk in the rice! The cabbage was a little on the oily side for me though! Overall this plate for me was a 8/10! I loved the plantains, again a little oily for me but I loved that they were ripe and cooked well! 8/10 for that. Overall I would say that I enjoyed this restaurant, they folks that work there are definitely Jamaican and if you know you know lol I saw some complaints about the attitude of the servers but the folks I had were fine but then again I am Jamaican and understand my people facial expressions and rude haha **I did go back a few days later with my family, my mom ordered the oxtail but she said it was a little tough. No pictures though
google avatar

Laney L.

Yelp
I have never had a bad meal from here. The food is absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned every time. Every time I come back to Dallas I try and stop by
google avatar

Kemdilee N.

Yelp
Food was very delicious. I ordered the oxtails and the gravy is hearty and full of flavor. Service was quick and easy. I also had a meat pie and plantain which I would highly recommend. Inside is very clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
So I tried this spot today for lunch and let me just say.... It did not disappoint at all ....my bestie got the oxtails, rice, and cabbage (it was so delicious) I had the jerk chicken nachos... it was a hit!!! The drinks were amazing as well.... The music was great and the staff was amazing Definitely a must try
google avatar

Lu L.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. We walked in and it took about 15 minutes to be seated. Once we were finally seated, it took another 30 minutes until someone approached us to even take our order. Once we finally ordered, the drinks were not good at all. Very syrup-y and lacked alcohol. I ordered the fried snapper and it was very much over cooked. My sister ordered the oxtails and jerk chicken. She gives it a 5/10. Overall I give mine a 4/10. Customer service was the worst part.
google avatar

Missy S.

Yelp
I was really disappointed with the food, especially the oxtails. The gravy was the biggest letdown--it seemed like plain brown gravy was made separately and then added to the oxtails. The flavors didn't blend well, creating a strange mix between sweet and savory that just didn't work. The cabbage had a stir fry flavor which also seemed to compete with the gravy and oxtails.
google avatar

Jonathan B.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Best jerk chicken I've had since going to Jamaica. Look forward to coming back and trying other dishes!
google avatar

Lara C.

Yelp
The food was fabulous. Our waitress was friendly and recommended our meal. She also warned us about the very spicy sauces. Best jerk chicken we've ever had (even in Jamaica). The curry chicken was wonderful, and the fried fish filet was perfect. We had a Red Stripe and the mango mojito (highly recommend). It was so good and reminded us of a special trip to Jamaica with its authenticity. Will definitely come back.

E.L H.

Yelp
Awful. Came in for the first time in years and the food was terrible. Cabbage was too crunchy , rice and peas had no flavor and overcooked on the stew chicken was undercooked. Beware online orders.
google avatar

Cory H.

Yelp
The food and service her is wonderful. If you want some really good authentic Jamaican food, this is the place to go. They also have some wonderful drinks. My favorite food items are the oxtails and jerk chicken. They also have great sides like cabbage and the rice and peas.
google avatar

Ra L.

Yelp
This food is.... hell nah man. This is not jerk chicken that I received. I got burnt chicken! Any half-hearted Jamaican on this planet would be disgusted at this.
google avatar

Adrienne D.

Yelp
It was my husband and mine's first time visiting this restaurant and we already can't wait to go back! The service is excellent! We went for lunch during a weekday and we were seated right away. Our server, Sasha, greeted us as soon as we arrived, provided us with the drink menu and gave us some time to look at the lunch menu and decide what we wanted. Their drink menu is INCREDIBLE - a book in itself it has so many options! I had the hardest time deciding what I wanted and asked Sasha for her recommendation. I'm always looking for something strong, but not too sweet, and she recommended the Flaming Hurricane and it was perfect! Not too much ice to water it down so I only needed one drink to get the feeling I was looking for ;-). My husband and I decided to order the platter as an appetizer and got the jerk wings, beef patty and fried plantains. They were all absolutely amazing - perfect seasoning without being greasy or too saucy. I would absolutely recommended going during lunch time. Their meals come with two sides so you get more bang for your buck. I was in the mood to be adventurous so I got the goat curry with spinach and rice and beans. The sides were outstanding - I really enjoyed the spinach. The goat curry had a great flavor (my husband will order it when he returns), but it was a tiny bit too salty for me. It did not stop me from eating it all though...lol. My husband wanted to try a variety of options so he got the 3 meat platter with jerk chicken, brown stewed chicken and fish fillet. He enjoyed everything on his plate. I was very impressed with the authentic ambiance inside the restaurant and our server, Sasha, was so pleasant, helpful and patience. If you enjoy Jamaican food you CANNOT go wrong but heading to The Island Spot!!

Yelp
The food smelled amazing and was just as delicious. We devoured it all before remembering we didn't take any pictures. I will visit again.

Yelp
Rather than cook, I decided to go with a cheat lunch for today. My hair dresser recommended the Island Spot awhile ago so decided to try it out. There was no one there when I arrived around 11:15 so it was easy to sit at the bar and order take out. The menu was pretty simple and I submitted my order with the bartender which was jerk chicken with steamed rice and cabbage, plantains, the dessert sampler and mango juice. I told the guy that I was using an offer from yelp for the mango juice. He refused to honor and said it was for dine in. Later, after he ran my card, he asked me to mark it as used and gave me an extra one, in his words, 'because I like you.' I was too annoyed but just waited patiently for my order. Once I got my order, I immediately went to the car and inspected what I'd ordered. I was incredibly disappointed with the dessert sampler, which was $16.95. It didn't look good at all. I went back and spoke to the bartender but was not given a refund which really left a bad taste about this business. No one should serve anything that looks line that. And the servings were horrible. The key lime pie was just merengue and a bit of filling and the mango cheesecake was pretty good but was a very thin slice. I'm giving two stars because the mango juice and my jerk chicken entree were actually good. I really wanted to love this place, but I can't support a business with shady practices.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday evening to try out Jamaican food in Dallas. The first thing I noticed was that even with people inside, it was deadly quiet. Later on during my meal they turned on some music which helped drown the silence. I ordered a beef patty, oxtails, and the ackee and saltfish. The beef patty had nice flavor and good texture from the crispy exterior. The ackee and saltfish was something new for me, but I found the portion to be small for the price charged. The flavor was not to my taste, but the ingredients weren't familiar to me so that may be why. But the showstopper was the oxtails! The dish is so well cooked the meat falls off the bone and the flavor penetrates through every part!
google avatar

Glen F.

Yelp
Where do I start? Bad food and worst service. Our waitress Sasha was very unresponsive and disinterested in serving us. When she finally did take our order, it was an inordinate amount of time to get our drinks and beef patties that looked like they had been reheated several times but barely warm on the inside. As for the entrees, the quality was equally disappointing. The jerk chicken sandwich was supposed to be breast, but we received what appeared to be thigh meat with bone fragments. The rice and peas was bland and very clumpy. The jerk chicken was whack and did not taste fresh. A Jamaican wouldn't come near this place if you paid them. But I guess they think they can get over pon Yankee people - FIRE FI DAT!!!! The final insult is the 18.4% gratuity that was automatically added to the bill with no upfront disclosure. I guess why deliver good service when you know you are going to tip yourself anyway - BACKSIDE NO RAS!!!!!
google avatar

Juanita W.

Yelp
I hate to write this lackluster review. I brought a friend to try it out and it was disappointing not because the meat wasn't thoroughly cooked or of good quality but there was not any marinating of the meat with enough of the right seasonings-- it lacked the flavor and kick. Not in the same park as the food prepared in Jamaica. The drink was watered down as well. The woman that took our order was great. The one that delivered the food was not pleasant and the man that took the check I do not recall him greeting or thanking us. I do not need to return. Loved the music.

Teresa P.

Yelp
Food was flavorful and more than enough for a lunch portions. We got three plates: 1.sampler with beef patty, coconut shrimp, and jerk wings. 2. Curry goat with spinach and rice and peas. 3. Stew chicken with saffron rice and cabbage. Pineapple juice was sweet and authentic tasting! We will return!
google avatar

Lena S.

Yelp
I walked in on a Sunday at 230, they close at 3. I received wonderful service still at that time. I ordered it to go. I had been craving a beef patty ($4) for sooooooo long. I ordered jerk chicken dark meat for myself, breast for my husband. The breast was a boneless cutlet, I was expecting bone in, nevertheless my husband enjoyed it. I also ordered a side of plantains. They also recommended a rum punch to go ($14). It is a little pricey but honestly everything is going up. Next time I would like to go in and sit for their Sunday brunch.
google avatar

Jaide A.

Yelp
I realllllly want to love this place. I really do! Their food is actually quite tasty however there are some things that they need to get together . 1. The most important on my list!!! PLEASE COOK THE CURRY CHICKEN COMPLETELY!!! This is the SECOND time I've seen pink in my curry chicken. Chicken when properly cooked is WHITE not PINK. Such as shame because the actual curry is soooo delicious. So moving forward I will just get a side of the curry sauce for my rice and peas. 2. The portions have definitely gotten smaller. I've been coming for years and when I opened my Togo plate today. I was sooo disappointed to see 3 measly pieces of Jerk chicken. Not even a full piece of chicken SMH 3. Customer service is bleh but then again , this is an authentic Jamaican spot so I don't expect them to be friendly ... if you've lived in Jamaica , you know what I mean LOL I have a saying "if they Jamaican food don't have an attitude" it's not good hahaha I would try them out if you love flavorful food but just know , it can be a hit or miss! The cabbage is delicious!!!
google avatar

Kawana B.

Yelp
Boy oh boy! The flavor is infused in every little grain of rice all the way through every morsel of meat. The beef Pattie's were also flavorful and flakey with a hint of spice. I tried the oxtails, rice and peas, brown stew chicken, cabbage, spinach, yellow rice. I enjoyed it all over a few days. I look forward to revisiting and being taken away to the Caribbean. Oh! I must also mention the great and friendly service.

Mimosa B.

Yelp
I ordered takeout: oxtails, rice and cabbage at the cost of $25 and it was an absolute disappointment! The oxtail gravy taste like a brown gravy packet mix made and then poured over the oxtails. The cabbage was bland. I also ordered the sampler plate which had shrimp, jerk wings and a Jamaican patty. The patty was the best part of the meal. The overall service was subpar- the server at the counter seemed preoccupied in thought, so the interaction lacked any sort of welcoming feel. The ambiance was your typical Jamaican restaurant feel- dark, with a few artifacts, nothing fancy. If you're in there too long, you'll leave smelling like food... the overall experience was just shear disappointment.

Yelp
Walking in transforms you to the islands. Everyone was friendly and they had music playing. We sat down and ordered drinks first. I got the rum punch with was tropical sweet mixed drink and my husband got a flight of Jamaican rums. It was fun trying them all, he really enjoyed them all. They have a few flights to choose from. We ordered the jerk wings as an appetizer. They were good, but not what I expected. They had a sweeter sauce on them, but we definitely enjoyed them. They also came out smoking hot! Our main dishes were delish. Those ox tails were the best thing I had! They were so tender and flavorful. I wish they had a bit more meat on the bones though. I actually could have had two orders of ox tails, and I'm a tiny person. We will definitely be back when we are craving a taste of the islands. This spot is legit! The food was delicious, the service was on point, and the prices were right.

Yelp
Great food and service! I didn't realize how much I was missing Caribbean food. The Johnny Cakes were perfection!

Yelp
i ordered Oxtails, Jerk Chicken, and fish. $48.00 they don't give a lot of food for the price. my chicken was so small, I had to complain to get more, they said we can't control the size of the chicken + I only got 3 oxtails I will never go there again!!!!!

Yelp
I've never been to Jamaica, but this place made me feel like I took a short trip there. I got one of their specialty drinks with alcohol and it was about two days before Valentine's Day, which they had a special menu for...the beef patties were amazing. definitely would come back for those. I live in Hawaii so good Jamaican Food is hard to find the oxtail weren't bad but I've had better, but did I say the beef patties were good? I mean they had just the right amount of spice love it! I will definitely come back. Not to mention they were kind enough to still service me when I showed up at 8:59 PM knowing God and well they close at 9 PM. That's Love

Yelp
The actual restaurant had a nice ambiance and was clean. Based on the little interaction I had with the staff they were polite but the whole 20 mins I waited there for my food at the bar I was never offered a water or drink. However, the food was extremely lacking. I was definitely disappointed with the quality, quantity, and taste of most of the food. Feel like I was $30+. I should've have known when I saw the "s" on the menu for the oxtail and no old lady in site that it wasn't going to be what I expected. What I liked: When I ordered I did ask how dark the plantains were because I love mine sweet and they we're definitely sweet and fried just right. The chicken patty filling was tasty as well. What I didn't like: The lunch and dinner oxtail meal was the same price ( like $22). I received a plate full of basically bones. One piece I thought might have a little meat on it was again another bone but disguised by the gravy. The whole plate was flavorless and I had to add my own seasoning. The rice and peas were extremely dry, not even scooping some of the oxtail gravy on it helped much and I skipped on the cabbage all together. I'm a 4 month post op bariatric patient and my stomach holds 2oz. I order a large meal thinking it was going to be good and I could eat on it for a couple days but I finished the oxtail in addition to some pieces of plantain and a piece of the chicken patty in one sitting before feeling full. I've personally never seen a white chicken patty. The crust is usually yellow and flaky. They also cooked most of the filling out of it. Overall I took a risk looking for good Caribbean food during my visit to Dallas and this was not it
