Amazing Italian pizza shop! The deep dish is amazing! Give the deep dish spinach a try, you won’t regret it! Also, if your kid loves mac & cheese, they make a great Mac & cheese pizza.

Google
I stopped by to get myself some lunch before heading home, and the service was quick. Staff were nice! I tried the original white with some marinara on the side, and it was delicious! Perfect amount of cheese 😊

Google
What did you do with the prices?!? Your food is great. But not close to what you are now charging. There are great pizza places within a mile of you. I hope it works out but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Google
Wow, I'm amazed by the deep dish this time. We got 3 pizzas. Buffalo, bbq and the meat deep dish. Its been a while since we've been here because we had been underwhelmed around 2022 and decided to try again tonight since it was our staple pizza location from 2010 to 2018. They've clearly made some changes for the better since covid times. Perfectly cooked deep dish, slight recipe change maybe? Either way 12/10 Increased toppings vs. Our experience in the past. Major major improvement there. 👏 Excellent showing tonight and if you haven't been in a while, give them another shot to support local business. Enormous improvement.

Google
Hit up this place for a Stuffed pizza . First time here and it didn’t disappoint. Our server was kind. The pizza was delish and the place was cute and quiet. I would definitely would eat here again if I was looking for a great pizza.

Google
Stopped in with my family for a few pies. Got more than we could eat (2 meals worth) for less than fast food and raved about it for days afterwards! The sauce! Such amazing simple sausages full of flavor! We fought over then leftovers! A+ 😁👍

Google
Staff is rude. Tried to call about delivering to downtown St. Paul, they told me my area was out of their delivery range, even though I have ordered pizza from them before at this exact address on numerous occasions. They tried to act like I was crazy and told me they moved 15 years ago. I ordered from there around 6 months ago.

Google
Oooh the Chicago Toledo was delicious Joelle was a pleasure to talk with! The construction in the area wasn't a hindrance at all. We found a place to park near the restaurant. Nice cool AC on a hot summer day.

Yelp
Great place to have a slice of excellent pizza. The sauce is the boss here and it doesn't disappoint. The crust is crunchy and crispy where it needs to be and the toppings are plentiful. I got too many toppings. I ordered two deep dish slices with 4 toppings apiece. I paid then I realized that they recommended only 3. Nonetheless they were excellent. The ambiance was like you're in Italy. The service was amazing. I also ordered the cheese bread. I got 8 half slices of cheese bread. The sauce was what made it worth it. That could have been 3 day old bread and the sauce would've carried it. Great job on a great meal.

Yelp
Great pizza by the slice. I usually have the deep dish but this time I did the thin crust. They are both really good.
google avatar

Yelp
Great pizza! My favorite was the cheese fries! Dough filled with cheese, so yummy. The pizzas are big which is great for a large party. We took these pizzas to go and it was still hot when it got home.

Yelp
Got a pepperoni slice on thin crust after being told they have great pizza by a couple people and I was not disappointed. The crunchy crust was a nice texture contrast to the gooey melty cheese. Toppings were not skimped on that is for sure. Staff are very friendly and the place has a great vibe with old newspaper clippings for decoration on the tables. It wasn't crowded at all when I went at around 3:30 on a Friday.

Yelp
Wish I could tell you about the food. Placed an order yesterday, a Monday evening, via DoorDash for spinach and mushroom lasagna. First time ordering from this restaurant. The Italian Pie Shoppe confirmed the order at 6:13 pm. From that time until 8pm, DoorDash sent at least 4, maybe 5, Dashers to the restaurant who each waited their allotted time to pick up my order until they had to leave to fulfill other orders. Finally at 8pm, when the restaurant stops taking orders, DoorDash refunded my money and cancelled the order "because the store is unable to fulfill your order." The restaurant should never have confirmed the order if they couldn't fulfill it. Why waste the time for me and the Dashers due to their ineptitude instead of just refusing the order in the first place? I could have ordered from some other restaurant. Instead I ended up microwaving a frozen meal. Needless to say, I'll never order from them again. Their customer service ethics are nonexistent.

Kathleen C.

Yelp
I have been going here for years and years! Simply The Best!!! Quality ingredients and the most amazing sauce. I get Italian Fries every single time I come home and they have stayed so consistently awesome. I can't get enough and I wish we had something like this in Honolulu. 10/10- Highly recommended!!

Mark B.

Yelp
Fantastic deep dish pizza. Hit all the right notes. We had great service as well. Very happy with the visit and will go again when in the area.

Jill F.

Yelp
Whenever I am on Grand Avenue, I always find a way to stop at The Italian Pie Shoppe for a slice of their deep dish pizza, with sausage and mushrooms. It doesn't take long at all for them to make it and I can't help but eat at least a few bites before I head for home. The aroma is intoxicating! The staff is really nice and the place has a feel like Bonnie and Clyde somehow..tin ceilings I think...dark paneling, cozy booths, outdoor seating too if weather permits. And since I am a thrifty gal, I appreciate the prices. If you haven't tried it you need to check it out.

David E.

Yelp
Since I moved to the neighborhood I've been ordering from this place. I love the deep dish, my wife loves the thin. Delicious at an appropriate price point.

Yelp
I found myself in St Paul for a while and decided I would give some St Paul businesses my attention and see what they got. This pizza place was out of this world good! If you are looking for a deep dish (think chicago deep dish) this is the place to go. The crust has a taste that just melts. The toppings are perfect! I impuslively ordered the stuffed and deep dish. Since I was a little airhead I forgot which was which, but one had a light layer of tomatoes (sauce?) on top. But between them both, there was no winner. They were equally amazing and you can not go wrong with either. I also ordered the pizza fries. I did not order any extra ingredients in them (you can add things like pepperoni or sausage or veggies, ect...) but I went straight cheese. I was a little underwelmed but wonder if I had added a meat if it would stand up against the pizza. But this little pizza place should not be overlooked and definitely added to your list.

Yelp
Ordered a deep dish pizza and a large Greek salad for delivery. Quick delivery-came about 15 minutes ahead of schedule! This was my first time eating deep dish pizza, and it was alright. The crust gave a pretty yeasty aftertaste, which wasn't for me. Salad was very large and tasty but I wish the dressing came on the side, as there was way too much. I've had other pizzas at their Eagan location quite awhile ago and haven't been disappointed, so my indifference toward deep dish may very well be just a preference for thinner crusts.

Brian B.

Yelp
Decent pizza. Good sauce and toppings. Friendly staff. Was very surprised to be charged a 'pickup charge' when ordering a pizza online and picking it up. That's a new one. I guess we hav to dream up new ways of charging people these days,
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a vegge pizza, a MYO calzone, and wings. Pizza was ok, calzone was good, but the hot wings were disappointing: visibly burnt and overcooked.

Yelp
Had a hankering for a good deep dish pizza and this place is a long standing St Paul institution. Ordering was simple enough online, but upon pickup it was apparent that the pie had been sitting for awhile before our pickup time. The pizza was slightly cold when we got home. Loved the massive amounts of Italian sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, salami, and diced tomatoes packed atop this bad boy. Could've used a little bit of a deeper pie and more mozzarella. The cheese pull from the pie wasn't quite stacked up to what you would expect from a true deep dish. Also the pics on their website are not what is in the box. There wasn't any sauce on top of the pie like you would expect and the sauce under the cheese was spotty and heavy only in certain bites. Ultimately it hit the spot though for our craving. Not quite sure if we would do their deep dish again. Their thin crust looks like it could warrant a try. I'm a second chance kind of guy.

Yelp
We eat at the Italian Pie Shoppe at least a couple of times a month. There's something really delicious about the sauce they use on their deep dish pizzas. The staff is super friendly and it's a family-owned and operated joint, which I like supporting. One day, pre-Covid, we were dining in and our server recommended a pepperoni, pineapple, and sauerkraut pizza. It sounds like a crazy combo, but we tried it and it was actually super delicious! Now I am a person who takes sauerkraut on my pizza. A polarizing choice, I know.
google avatar

Yelp
When we're craving deep dish pizza, this is what we order. We always do takeout, but the dining area seems inviting and comfortable. The pizza is super good. The crust is flaky, the sauce is balanced, and neither are sweet (which is always a deal breaker for me). There's lots of stuff stuffed in that crust - I'm partial to the spinach pie and the vegetarian pie, and my partner is a big fan of the meat lover combo. Salads are good too. Ask for dressing on the side. I have to knock off a star though because the woman at the register (not sure if she's an owner or what, but she seems to always be there) is really not pleasant and has been downright rude a couple times. We sort of laugh and brace ourselves for this before going in, but if the food wasn't so good we wouldn't bother returning. It would be nice to pick up a pizza without the accompanying crankiness.

Yelp
I had an interesting experience. I ordered through Door Dash from a place called "Fckin Good Pizza"...except the address takes you to The Italian Pie Shoppe on Grand and that name is on the pizza box. So. Not sure where it really came from but I'm going with this. I ordered a medium Margherita pizza. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a thin layer of sauce with sliced mozzarella and whole basil leaves topped with chopped fresh tomatoes (like what is pictured on Door Dash). Instead, there were no slices of mozzarella and no fresh basil or tomatoes. It was sauce topped with a little shredded mozzarella and cooked chopped tomatoes. The sauce was actually very good and flavorful. I'm from Chicago, and if it means anything to anyone, the sauce reminded me of Lou Malnati's. Yum. The crust was a nice, crispy, seasoned, thin crust. Although there wasn't much cheese, the taste really came through. I don't love a ton of sauce so this wasn't the pizza for me, but I'd be curious to see how good their other pizzas are.
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
Great thin crust pizza and I really like their wings too - even though sometimes they can get a little charred. They're a decent size for the price.

Linda G.

Yelp
Had not been here in years not sure why. We met friends who suggested it and really enjoyed the pizza. The atmosphere is very casual, it's located right next to college campus and a great neighborhood. Glad we went back after a long time.

Yelp
This is my family's go-to spot for deep dish pizza and we've been coming here for the last ten years! They have the best pizza in the twin cities, hands down. The restaurant has a really cute, home-y vibe, and the staff are always attentive and caring. Whenever we come here, we always get a spinach and tomato deep dish pizza that usually takes about 30-45 minutes to make, but BOY is it worth the wait. It has an amazing, crispy, crust on the bottom, with a delicious, rich tomato sauce and a perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. Even the leftovers taste amazing, and we always order way too much so that we can bring pizza home. I'm not sure why this place has only 3 stars because they do pizza right. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a classic deep dish pizza from the Italian Pie Shoppe.

Sarah K.

Yelp
I ordered a stuffed pizza with extra cheese, spinach, and jalapeño. How could this pizza be so dry? Let's start with the lack of cheese. Next let's address the horrid crust with no gluten whatsoever. Nope this crust is neither crispy, satisfying, nor stretchy. Tastes like a sweet cake that was left in an oven too long. I paid premium price for cheap ingredients. I almost forgot the sauce. Tastes like school lunch spaghetti sauce. Stale and flavorless. If you want pizza, I would not come here. I won't. Yuck. Also the jalapeños were pickled, not fresh. Canned food on cheap crust. All that spinach and the crust was still as dry and flat as cardboard. Who eats this and says yay? Seriously.

Yelp
Sometimes I just want to be able to order food and get what I'm expecting, lately delivery food kinda feels like a "grab bag." But, I did see another review upon coming to write my own, where they also ordered the margherita pizza and got this crust with sauce bs. Call me Karen, but I'd give this 0 stars if I could. V disappointed

Yelp
The salads are good. Pizza isn't bad but not great. I ordered online. Got there and they had no record of my order. They 'found my order in the computer' and made it while I waited. Not a huge deal. But as I drive home in the rain , and presented the kids with the pizza they were upset to find the order made wrong. Of course I wasn't going back out in the rain. And the only offer was to 'credit my account with them'. Not offer me an actual refund. No clue if o has a free pizza on my 'account' there or not as I have not been back and no real desire too.

Xtina X.

Yelp
Very disappointed! I ordered a Godfather salad, it was 95% lettuce with one single pepperoni, one little peice of salami and a thin as paper slice of ham on it. The lunch meat looked like the fifty cent packs of carl budding lunch meat. They gave me enough dressing to cover 1/4 of the salad, if that. The penne pasta I ordered was a box full of noodles with enough sauce to cover 1/4 of the noodles if that. The "garlic bread" was a soggy peice of toast that had been toasted on the grill on one side and the other side had been covered in the garlic butter they use. The small cheese pizza I ordered was nothing but crust and cheese, hardly any sauce on it. There is nothing worse then spending $40 on food that is terrible! This order was from the Eagan locaton. The crazy thing is, they show on their website how they use generous amounts of ingredients. I

Yelp
We are making sure to order local to support businesses in the area during this time but was not happy this place. The photos do not match what is delivered. The margarita pizza is pictured with fresh basil and a light tomato sauce (what you think of when imagining a margarita pizza). What I received was a pizza with a can of diced tomatoes as a topping. No fresh toppings. Very unpleasant in appearance and taste. The restaurant offered no solution and blamed the popular ordering app. They even delivered the salad dressed so it was soggy and unenjoyable when it arrived.
google avatar

Yelp
Sent the wrong sized pizza, ordered through Door Dash. Call to discuss the issue and I have to go through Door Dash to get the difference refunded. So they entered the order wrong , and pass the buck to a third party to get a refund. The worst part is, I get a Door Dash credit rather than the difference refunded. Poor customer service, crappy policy. I'll stick with Skinners.

Yelp
Best pizza in Saint Paul. By far the best sauce anywhere. Quick delivery and great service. I'm glad things haven't changed after relocating from the 700 block of Grand Ave to the 1600 block.

Yelp
Omg what a delicious gem of a place. Everything was delicious. The pizza and salad was amazing. The staff was warm and welcoming. But the food. Yum! If you are looking for a pizza that you will remember this is the place. Thank you so much!
google avatar

Yelp
Meh. I've always thought this place had good pizza; but for some reason, this place isn't as great as I remember it being. In short, I absolutely adore thin crust pizza. That's why I initially fell in love with Italian Pie Shoppe. I hadn't been to the restaurant for a few years, but my dad and I were in the mood for some pizza, so I suggested it. The pizza was just ok. My dad, who thinks ketchup can be spicy (sarcasm), made the comment that the whole thing was bland. The pizza was also very floppy--not something you'd expect from square cut, thin crust pizza. The restaurant is small, but has a cool vibe to it. Our server was great and explained menu items well. The pizza itself, just didn't measure up to how we remembered it.
google avatar

Yelp
Didn't leave a fan, but didn't hate it either. A 4 for the jalapenos making our noses run. The caesar salad was a complete rip off. $7.00 for the smallest, chinsiest salad ever. There was hardly any lettuce in the to go box. Next time I'll buy that caesar in a bag and toss it myself. I feel robbed. The pizza was ok. J liked it, minus the really boring and flavorless crust. The crust was a real snoozer. The meat was good as were the mushrooms and jalapenos, but we created that flavor with the pick three option. Stuffed = sauce on top a thin layer of dough, ingredients below. I was thinking the crust might be stuffed, but the guy taking my order said it was sauce on top. I always thought that just meant deep dish. The sauce was kind of snoozerific too. It reminded me of ragu or prego thrown on top. Not sure we'll be rushing back. Delivery was not an option for us. I looked on their delivery map and we were not included.

Yelp
I have pizza all over the country - yes including New York and Chicago. The deep dish is by far the best. It's not thick and doughy like most. It's light a flaky and the sauce - awesome. When my family comes in town - this is one pace the want to go to asap. Matter of fact when flying down to visit family - they ask me to bring some down. Yes even people in Texas and Maryland love it. I can not say more and Katie, the owner and her staff are the best. As my dad and others would say - they do not like deep dish because of the crust - once they tried the deep dish - that's all they asks for.
google avatar

Lexi F.

Yelp
Ordered Deep Dish Pizza for delivery -- unfortunately a few toppings were incorrect but the food was still hot and very good!!
google avatar

Treena C.

Yelp
We stopped in here after 9:00pm and they were still serving food. Very friendly staff and the prices are affordable. The two of us ate for under $25 with a drink. The Chicago torpedo was amazing! My dinner mate had the meatball sandwich - their sauce is thick and scrumptious. Next time I will try the pizza.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
I had a really bad experience using a poorly thought up and managed groupon here way back in the day, so I refused to go back for a long time. I was in the area recently and decided to give them another chance. Went online to place a quick carry out order, that added a 50 cent surcharge despite paying cash and picking up (zero mention of what that's for!). So I called in the order instead. That was a mistake, as I was quite friendly but met with the attitude I remember the instant I asked the difference between "stuffed crust" and "deep dish." And I decided on stuffed crust but she ended up with deep dish, and I'm pretty sure I was overcharged for that (after paying in cash and no receipt). I'm guessing, despite an empty restaurant at 6:30pm, that they don't care about carry out orders and only want the rich neighborhood business!
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
Great service and a really nice atmosphere. Pizza was tasty. We had the large thin crust with 3 toppings. The dinner salad is a bargain at $4. Look forward to return and try other things. I'm sure I'll be giving the Pie Shoppe another star soon.
google avatar

Eduardo G.

Yelp
I had good hopes for this place. But the food was cold, the pasta on my Mac and cheese pizza was almost hard rock and my "melt" was horrible. That is not a melt. They need to change the name of that item or completely remove it.
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
just got a pick up spinach deep dish which we've had many times and always love but haven't had in a while and it was just as good as we remembered! i love the ratio of toppings and flakey crust! also tried the side caesar salad for the first time and loved it!
google avatar

Joey A.

Yelp
I was in the area for work and had the chance to try The Italian Lie Shoppe. The decor is outstanding; brings me back to an older part of Italy. I ordered the Margarita Pizza - didn't add or substitute anything. Wow - just wow. The pizza crust is chewy and the sauce is so smooth - you'll wish you could eat more after you're full. I recommend giving this location a try.
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
2 1/2 hours to deliver cold pizza. We heated it in the oven but, even then, both pies were exceptionally underwhelming. We called to explain that 2 1/2 hours seemed unreasonable but the manager was rude and unprofessional. Never again.

Yelp
My favorite place to get pizza!!! I have been ordering this pizza every Friday night for the past 5 years and eating it for the past 10. I absolutely go CUCOO for this pizza! As I am a picky eater, I usually order the plain cheese-- with extra cheese and sauce. I also enjoy their deep dish and chicken nuggets that they call the pie shoppe bites. My family and friends as well love this pizza and it is one of our common bonds that hold us togther as one community and ~family~. Never have I grown tired of their food and I can't even drink the same tea in the morning two days in a row! The pizza boys (or men... or people of any gender) are always kind and reliable! Thank you Italian Pie Shoppe for your service!!!

Gretchen N.

Yelp
We love coming here when we need a little day trip! Start with the Italian fries with cheese and then build your own pizza. You can also get frozen Italian fries so you can satisfy a craving in between visits. This is the perfect place if you're craving a real pizza joint from the good old days!

Yelp
The Italian Pie Shoppe - it really whips the llama's ass. Giant, awesome slices and draft beer: Noyce.

Yelp
UPDATE in Answer to Manager's Response Below: Thanks for your response, James. It sheds some light on the multitude of bad reviews I see for your establishment. Your staff member was the antithesis of "nice" when she asked me to dispose of my coffee. She was downright rude and disrespectful. Despite her rudeness, I was completely and totally respectful to your employee and only hoped for the same treatment in return. You've lost yet another loyal customer. *** I'll preface this by saying I've been a customer of The Italian Pie Shoppe for nearly two decades and the food is really good here. So good, in fact, we had been to the restaurant three times in the past month and a half. However, something happened during a visit yesterday that made me vow to never go back again. On our way from the car to the door we were approached by a homeless man, Lorenzo, asking for money. I offered to buy him a meal in a nearby restaurant Shish, because it's fast. My wife went into the Pie Shoppe and got us a booth while I bought Lorenzo a gyro and a coffee next door. He told me he didn't drink coffee so, not wanting to waste it, I brought it with me into the pizza shop, found my wife, and sat down. We ordered a couple of menu items and a couple of beers totaling $40 or so. The food arrived and I was eating I took a sip of the coffee. Shortly after, the waitress came by (who I believe is the owner/manager) and very rudely and condescendingly told me I needed to get rid of the coffee if I didn't buy it there as if I were a small child, or a criminal. She said there's a sign in the front stating no outside food or drinks. The issue was, as I was coming in I was focused on finding my wife, not looking at the signage. I can understand the restaurant's policy. What I can't understand is the unprofessional way in which this situation was handled and communicated. I'm forty six years old and never in my life have I been treated so rudely at a restaurant. My wife and I prefer to patronize local neighborhood businesses but we refuse to ever again support The Italian Pie Shoppe.

Yumi C.

Yelp
Super delicious stuffed style green olives and pepperoni! Delish tomatoes/sauce on top. Far better than the Eagan location with better quality cheese. Calm and clean to dine in. Nice, welcoming staff as well.

Yelp
Went here for a quick lunch after not having been since I was a child and the nostalgia of the place hasn't diminished in my mind. The restaurant is quaint, small, red brick and some fun signage i.e "free beer tomorrow". I got a calzone which was tasty, but it was built a little weird. I got spinach, tomato and banana peppers which were piled mainly in the middle of the calzone instead of being dispersed. The lasagna my boyfriend got was also good but I couldn't tell there was any pasta because of the sheer amount of ricotta. Overall it was good food, cute atmosphere and fast service but not my top ten.

Yelp
I was in the St Paul area and for reasons unknown I had a strong urge to have a "Chicago Style Stuffed" pizza. It's been 15+ years since I last had that kinda pizza. Being 2 miles away from Italian Pie Shoppe and remembering hearing praise of their stuffed pizza, my car found it's way to the front of their doors (street parking). I've been to Italian Pie Shoppe many times before and have always enjoyed their above average thin crust pizza. The Chicago Style Stuffed is really good. I ordered the 10' spinich pie. I was told the 10' (with 6 slices) feeds 2-3 people. Yeah right! Just a way to justify charging $16 for a 1 topping individual pie. 2 bites into my 1st slice (fork and knife) in I realized that the 2-3 person ratio was, in fact, accurate for this pie. It was so good I contemplated a 3rd slice, but the reality that I would have to sit in an upright position for the 20min drive home changed my mind. 3 people could get full from this 10 inch pie. Well done, Italian Pie Shoppe. Well done.

Yelp
This place has wonderful food and a good variety. If you are lucky enough to be there when Katie is working your in luck, she's great. It's worth the trip if you like really good pizza.

Yelp
Tonight was the first and last time I order from this place, it took 2 1/2 hours for delivery 1 mile away. Busy and late is one thing but I ordered it well done and it showed up cold and soggy. Terrible

Yelp
Best pizza crust by far! Quick and very friendly service. This should be your favorite pizza place! Try it!
