London’s Oldest Restaurants Like Sweetings Put History on the Menu | Eater London

"Established in 1917 as an unlicensed Italian café, The Ivy expanded into its current site in 1923, quickly becoming an institution for the highbrow theatre set, including regulars Laurence Olivier and Noel Coward. Having passed through many hands — Corbin and King bought it in the late 80s, Richard Caring has been the owner since 2005 — The Ivy experienced a decline in favour, before benefitting from a makeover in 2015. It didn’t just get a rather impressive art deco bar, but a new menu too — with Asian-influenced dishes rubbing shoulders with the classics (shepherd’s pie, sausage and mash) for which it is so loved." - Tom Ford

We recently held a private event at the Ivy club and it couldn't have gone any better. The organisation from start to finish was fantastic, the staff were friendly and helpful, the venue stunning and the food amazing. We'd like to express our gratitude to everyone who helped on the day and in the run up. Thanks Jon

A private members’ space with a discreet secret side entrance — The Ivy Club offers a stylish escape from the buzz of London. We dropped by after a long recording session and started with dinner in the Drawing Room — a refined twist on Ivy favourites, served in a calm, low-lit setting perfect for unwinding. Later, we moved downstairs to the Piano Bar for cocktails. A pianist played soft jazz in the background — just enough to set the mood while still letting conversation flow. The whole space feels like a quiet pocket of calm, designed for good food, drinks, and much-needed reset time. Perfect for a post-studio evening or whenever you want to slip away from the noise.

Another beautiful meal, pleasant atmosphere and comfortable chairs. Everything is as you would expect for a this type of establishment. Recommend the frozen berries and the trifle. Thank you.

Great place for drinks anytime of the day. The food is also excellent. There's a gorgeous bar to sit at on the first floor or private tables or comfortable sofas at the back, in the dayrime it is a quite atmosphere, relaxed and ideal for meetings, in the evening the lighting is romantic and often there is a live pianist. On the floor above there is a really nice large function room and there is a very nice outdoor heated terrace for smokers. This place actually has everything, even the lifts are beautiful.

We hosted a party for my dad here and had a wonderful experience. Our host was excellent, the service attentive, and the food delicious. The team’s attention to detail created a truly pleasant dining atmosphere. The only downside was that the air-conditioning wasn’t working, which did take away from the overall comfort slightly.

Two stars because the food was satisfactory. However the service was consistently bad for somewhere changing at this level: no napkins (had to ask), no butter with the bread (had to ask), chaotic atmosphere with staff clearly not trained or supported and on their first day. Felt like I was managing the staff rather than enjoying a meal. Nail in the coffin was being asked why I was using the accessible toilet by a waiter who told me to go downstairs - I have a colostomy and didn’t appreciate having to tell a stranger this in a restaurant - I would have complained to the manager but was too disturbed to do so.

Fantastic place! The staff make the experience, they were wonderful, from the doorman to the bar staff, so friendly and amenable that it was like talking to longtime friends. Food was great and a special thanks to Sebastian the cocktails expert and the Italian manager. Just go and enjoy this gem!

Arrived early and asked the two waitresses for very well cooked eggs… I repeated the same message to both waitresses. However they brought running eggs . Additionally, it took 15 min more than the rest of the table . By the time my eggs came , everybody had finished . 0 stars - so disappointed
