The Jackson Restaurant

The Jackson is the most underrated brunch spot in Rochester. We went on a Sunday after church and got right in. Cole, our server was personable and very knowledgeable of the menu. We had espresso martinis that were well balanced and the perfect pick me up. We ordered the Short Rib Hash and Breakfast Flatbread with a side of potatoes and it was absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a new spot to try in the area, this place is it. 12/10 recommend

My mom and I came here last year and had some of the best food of our lives: a chicken risotto dish, a brussels sprout salad, and the most delicious apple cake we have ever tasted. It was so good that we asked to speak to the chef, who to our surprise came out to the table to talk to us almost right away! I can’t remember her name but she was so sweet and you could tell how passionate she was about the food she had made. We left so happy (if a little light in the purse) and I told all of my friends about this little place…. This past weekend, my husband and I stopped in again. What a huge mistake. Our food tasted like it had been prepared at a Leo’s Coney, my chicken was so dry I left over half of it on the plate. The young man serving us didn’t ask how our food tasted, even when he asked if we wanted boxes for our barely-touched meal and we declined…even the overpriced drinks couldnt make that food taste good… We did’t complain….we just paid way too much for our food and left very disappointed. Clearly the chef my mom and I met has moved on or is out of town, and this place doesn't know how to operate without her. I recommend: Stay away from here until the cooks can learn how to cook! Very sad that this place has ended up like all the other flavorless cookie-cutter restaurants in The Village. You can get the same food from Kruse for half the price…and better drinks too!

The fluffy pillows tasted like a mistake - so much salt the inside of my mouth it felt puckered as though I'd taken a bite out of a lemon. Out of brussel sprouts so I couldn't get the interesting looking warm salad I wanted and spinach instead of brussel sprouts I agreed to have with the scallops, (no other choice) which for $38 I expected to be more than a count of 4. But I couldn't eat more than 2 anyway because there was so much garlic and salt and balsamic... couldn't taste the scallops much. Was a little surprised that when we said we just wanted water that the waiter didn't open the bottle that had been on the table when we sat down and pour it for us. We poured it ourself and it wasn't very cold, no ice in our cups, and we emptied the bottle pouring it for ourselves by the end. (No ice? Correct. No.) Soup of the day was tomato bisque, my daughter ordered it and waiter came back saying they were out. He was very apologetic and asked if there was anything else she'd like and she said okay mashed potatoes. So instead of salad or soup we had a side of mashed potatoes. Okay, they were pretty good, Then - more as they were the same mashed potatoes my scallops were placed in. The spinach on top - it was fine but just way too much going on on my plate, and texture was nonexistent. Brussel sprouts would have probably worked better for texture. Couldn't really taste the scallop as the overpowering garlic, salt, balsamic reduction, blinded it, as well as sort of each other. I am not sure what I was tasting just "everything and too much of it" is what I would describe it as. The waiter mistakenly left the truffle mayo on the side and left the the peppercorn off the steak. Fine though, when my daughter brought it up he brought out peppercorn sauce. I still am not sure why they put half a jar of mayo on a dish for her - not just because she asked it be left off, but why such a large amount? I wish I could have traded it for ice water and maybe some bread or flat crackers on the table to absorb some of the seasoning of which there was way too much on everything out of my mouth. I wasn't going to leave a review, but as I type this,I finished eating over 3 hours ago and have brushed my teeth and used listerine, then fluoride rinse, and THEN STILL ate a plain tortilla but nothing can make my mouth stop tasting like a solid garlic clove. We dined on a $150 gift card and I was happy to give the waiter a quite generous $39.76 tip to have used up the card. For $150 plus tip we had the "fluffy pillows" (of SALT) served with garlic butter, a side of mashed potatoes, a steak with fries and half a jar of unwanted mayo, and 4 scallops atop mashed potatoes with spinach. That's it, no drinks, not even tea, not even ice for the water, and no dessert. Atmosphere would be 4, the main restaurant styling has a lot going for it, but the bathrooms fail at what appears to have been an attempt at "maximalist chic." And I think the tables are a gold Calacatta marble laminate print, not real marble, although still really pretty. I was very pleasant and didn't bring any of this up to the nice waiter. I didn't want to make it a negative experience for our special occasion. My daughter loved her steak, so there's that. Yay! I feel sad for this place having not done better. It's a good idea and seems like there's much unrealized potential. I admire the courage of a solo restaurant chef/entrepreneur. It's probably hopeless but I have to go brush my teeth again. Maybe I should try gargling with vodka. Seriously I'm considering that.

The salmon was absolutely delicious, and my kiddo loved the butter pasta—ate every bite! The place has a great vibe with a warm, inviting atmosphere and excellent-tasting food. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to!

The Jackson is a super fantastic spot, perfect for a date night! The ambiance is lovely, though I’m not entirely sure if the giant painting fits the concept of the place just my personal opinion. We opted for shareable meals as appetizers and didn’t go for the full entrees, but we felt the menu could use a bit of a tweak. The service was a bit lacking, especially considering the place was empty when we arrived. Our server only added food to the table without removing any empty dishes or drink cups. Overall, The Jackson is a good place with excellent drinks, just needs a little work on the menu and service.

Had a really nice first experience here! It is so cute on the inside and the service was great, especially considering they just opened a week ago. Everything seemed like it was running very smoothly! We tried a lot of small plates (the crab cakes and soft pillows were our favorite), the wedge salad, and we also split the bolognese entree. We tried the espresso chocolate torte paired with a tequila pecan espresso martini to end the night, which was amazing!! Overall, I’d come back for the drinks, small plates and dessert!!

What a hidden gem in the Village Mall of Rochester Hills, MI! The restaurant is small and charming with beautiful art work on the walls. Chad was so welcoming and seated us immediately! He was attentive, friendly, helpful with menu suggestions, and very efficient! Perusing the menu, i found it to have a wide variety of offerings and the portion size is excellent! I chose the roasted chicken with Thyme and mushroom risotto - absolutely amazing and really delicious! My friend had the pumpkin parmesan tortellini which was perfectly prepared and my other friend had the Caesar salad and bang bang shrimp which she loved! The wine selection is outstanding- I am a fan of Orin Swift and lots to select! Great range of wine by the glass - my favorite Pinot Noir is Meiomi and it was great! Dri is an amazing head chef! Each dish was presented beautifully and the food was delicious! Highly recommend for a date night or family dinner as they had a great selection of items! You won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I came in to celebrate our anniversary. We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. I had made a reservation the night before. Our waitress was Sasha and she was great. We ordered a few small plates. We ordered the Miro shrimp, crab & cabbage, 3 cones (crab dip, smoked salmon and beef tartare), lemon potatoes and vegetable ragu. We received a complimentary glass of bubbly for it being our anniversary and we ordered the martini and vodka and vanilla espresso martini. The atmosphere was great. We loved all the art on the walls and the chairs were very comfortable. The drinks were amazing. The food was okay. The plates were very small and pricey. You don’t get any type of bread or anything just the food you order. The food did come out pretty quickly. Overall, we would go back for the drinks.

An unexpected and amazing local find in metro Detroit. Cradled in a corner of the Village in Rochester Hills was a striking artistic eatery that drew our attention on a rainy night. We could sample whiffs of the tempting fusion cuisine upon entry of this chique and artistic interior. We were greeted by Deanne who sat us at a center section near the brightly lit bar. We admired the open air and warm layout that captivated the artistic details preoccupying our views and helped facilitate the time between our courses. Wasn't long before our server Chad appeared and ran through the popular and seasonal specials and offered suggestions given our first indulgence here. For appetizers we ordered the white mushroom flatbread and bang bang shrimp - both were excellent! Our main course included an order of the braised short rib and a plate of grilled ribeye. Although the portions seemed smaller than expected, they were both DELICIOUS and left us room for the suggested dessert. Can't remember the dessert name but i'd describe as a freshly baked muffin with sour apple frosted drizzle that was infused with wintery warm flavors - again, a delicious finish even though we shared. It was evident that the personal touches set this place apart from the other corporate eateries nearby. We also determined through chatting with the staff that this eatery is a locally founded Michigan business started by Michigan born entrepreneurs. Thanks to Deanne, Chad, Evan and Chef Michael - we were really delighted to find this place nearby. Was worth the try and struck high marks in all the appetizer, meal and dessert categories, which rarely ever happens for us. We'll be back to sample the other items on your menu and will spread the word about this hideaway that'll save you a downtown trek to the D for an impressive caliber meal.

The decor is amazing and very contemporary. I loved the wallpaper and light fixture in the restroom. All the food was exceptional and they have great sauces. The service was very slow as there was only one server for the entire restaurant. The hostess was helping as much as she could. The fryer was not working so we could not get the two appetizers we wanted. Two of the four of us did not get what we ordered. I may try The Jackson again in hopes the understaffing, broken fryer, and order errors were the exception and not the norm.

This is a newly opened restaurant in Rochester Hills off Adams and Walton. It's in a fairly small space in the building so be prepared to be close to other tables. It has a nice relaxing vibe and you are immediately welcomed after you pass through their small vestibule (nice addition to keep the chilly air out). We had reservations for 4 to celebrate a birthday in our group. Our server asked if we were there for any special occasion and when I told her, she offered the birthday girl a glass of champagne on the house. I liked that touch over a free dessert. We ordered the Fluffy Pillows for an appetizer. It's their version of a bread basket. They take their bread and flash fry it and serve it with a flavored cheese spread. They arrived nice and hot. The taste is a bit on the salty side so be prepared but it is very good and they come four to an order so we all enjoyed one. Their menu isn't loaded with tons of choices and I have found that when restaurants do this, you will likely enjoy your meal. They've taken the time to create interesting dishes with different or unusual ingredients. I chose the Roasted Chicken. It comes cut into strips placed on a bed of the most amazing Parmesan risotto! The chicken was tender and the sauce that was poured over it was the perfect addition to balance out the risotto. And the portion size is excellent - just enough food to fill you up. The other members of my party had Salmon, Trout, and Scallops- everyone really enjoyed their meals as well so suffice it to say, we'll be back!

This is such a cute place. It is decorated to be in a Jackson Pollock theme and it definitely hits the mark. I had made reservations for 4 people which is all that is allowed per their website when I made them. With friends dropping out last minute, it wasn't a problem for the restaurant. The coffee setup is so cute. Even without a handle on the coffee mug, it doesn't get too hot that you can't pick it up. I went with a huge spread for lunch partially because I couldn't decide and partially because it was just me and they had been expecting 4 people. The cones are so much fun. You can definitely make a meal out of them. I would probably do a meal of only them in a future visit. I also got fluffy pillows which so garlicky but oh so good. I would have them again but only if I were sharing with someone so I'm not tempted to eat them all. The wedge salad was good...a unique setup... The desert that I had was amazing. The white chocolate almond cake was so good and had such a good flavor. I could almost make a meal of just it. I would come back in the future

I waited way too long to discover this gem in the Village of Rochester Hills. As a long time resident of RH there's not a problem finding great places to eat. So when this establishment opened in late 2024, I picked up a gift card for my wife for a Christmas stocking stuffer. It won't be another 6 months before we return. My wife and I chose to celebrate our anniversary here and I'm glad we did. I'll cut to the chase and say this may be the best dinner I've had in the Hills. Our waiter (and bartender) Paul did a great job while waiting on the other customers on a Thursday evening. From the amazing appetizers (crab fritters and prosciutto bruschetta) to the unique beat salad and the impeccable entrees (Grilled Halibut and Mahi-Mahi) you can taste the attention to detail in every bite. I highly recommend the following: -crab fritters, -beat salad,- grilled Halibut- Mahi-Mahi. Definitely want to try one of the craft cocktail's that sounded great. I did have a sip of my wife's expresso martini and it was nice. Our server, Paul was outstanding. He remembered it was our anniversary and treated us to desserts. If you like carrot cake, you have to try it here. Like just about everything we ordered, it was delicious. Great job Chef Justin V. We'll be back.

Awful service and the quality of food has gone downhill. I had been here twice before and loved the meals on both occasions. About a year later I returned and was astonished to find such a dramatically different experience. Our party of 7 was seated promptly and drink orders taken relatively quickly, but we were soon forgotten. Had to remind the server of our drink order and throughout the entire meal had to proactively ask for more water. Took 1 hour to take our order and an entire 1 hour after that to receive it. Salmon was far too salty and pasta dishes were average. Above all, what was most disappointing was the server. I don't blame him for being overwhelmed as it seemed he was the only waiter in the entire restaurant assisted by two runners (small spot, but not small enough to be serviced by only one waiter!). However, he acted offended that we would dare to check on our order 45 minutes afterward, to follow up on our drinks, or to ask for water. Not once did he apologize for the delays or offer to make it right in any way. Clearly this place is under poor management and requires better training and more staff. I will not be returning.

Expensive, small portions. Got scallops, $38, and there were only 4 buried in a pile of potatoes. Food wasn't that special. Place wasn't that special, especially for the high prices.

Cozy ambiance but small. Nestled in a shopping mall. Cocktails very slow to serve. My favorite was the wedge salad-very flavorful. Small amounts of food for the price. Stuffed Lemon custard dessert was served atop a bed of pebbles-returned to kitchen. Would not recommend ordering the cones-very small.

I was here 12/14 for my engagement dinner, had just gotten engaged at Meadowbrook. Informed the restaurant beforehand in the reservation that this was obviously a special occasion. We were seated in about 5 mins after our reservation, cool we are not the type to care about that. What we did care about is the service. It was slow, our server was pushy and it was a bad experience. The server Jack did not say even a simple congratulations, he didn't ask if we were celebrating anything until we ordered champagne. They made no effort to make it special in ANY single way, not a free dessert which anything from low end (Think Red Robin) to higher end (Mortons) and everything in between. The manager couldn't be bothered to come congratulate or even just thank us for us choosing this place for something so significant. Obviously we'll be talking about this day for the rest of our lives and yeah, will have nothing good to say about The Jackson. No complaints about atmosphere it's a good looking place with good music. The food was certainly nice looking, we didn't find it to be worth the money. I am not chef but neither fish was particularly flavorful. We will not be coming back in any case to try it out a second time. Do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else for a special occasion, I sooo regret not choosing probably any of their competitors, so much better off at Rochester Bistro, Kruise and Muir, Silver Spoon. Go anywhere else.

We had a reservation and still had to wait a little for our table, which is ok since the restaurant was clearly busy. Enjoyed the food and the service was great. Definitely will come back!

Only one server for the entire restaurant on a Saturday night? Really? Long wait for food. Ordered Fettucine Alfredo ($28) + $8 upcharge for chicken add-on. Received a medium sized bowl of noodles with white sauce with four meager strips of chicken on it for $36??? Nothing special here, meager portions and maybe 75 cents worth of chicken. Very uninspiring. My wife had a Brussels sprout salad for $19? Menu space, very under-staffed, average quality, meager portions and NYC prices. Completely underwhelming! Save your money and go elsewhere.

Horrible. Waitress took our drink order and just disappeared. Finally we just left. No one was even watching the front of the house

My fiancé brought me here for a surprise date night, and The Jackson did not disappoint. The decor was very cute and the space was intimate. Our service was great and the food was delicious. The only thing I wasn't a super fan of was the dumplings, however my fiancé loved them. The texture was a bit off for my palette, but the flavor was good. Everything else was delicious. I'm sure we will be back soon.

Everything about this place is great! Our drinks were good and well made. Especially the Michigan Maple bourbon drink. We split the white truffle burrata appetizer and the ingredients were fresh and everything went so well together. It was delicious! I thought I left my purse there and called the restaurant. They said they did not find anything, but would keep looking. They even called me the next day to follow up and see if I found it! Their customer service during our dining experience and even afterwards is excellent!

Visited this place for the second time today and both times our experience was amazing. I highly recommend the tenderloin tips! Everything is delicious though!

The Jackson has been on our list since they opened. This was completely a last minute meet up. I love when that happens. We had a few hours to spare and we're looking for a good happy hour so decided to check it out. It was fairly early on a Thursday (I think we stayed from 2-5:30) so it wasn't very busy. We actually enjoy it that way. The two bartenders were super helpful and explained the menu. The cones intrigued us so we had to get them. They are small. Not a lot to share, but a great way to sample everything. We, of course, still managed to share them. The cones are made of a sesame type material and are filled with accoutrements. We chose the crab, the salmon, and the edamame and hummous. We enjoyed the crab and salmon ones most but the edamame and hummous was still surprisingly good! The steak tips were a perfect medium and incredibly tender. The sause was delicious. We really enjoyed our cocktails as well. There is a lot to see. Even the bathrooms are cool. The best part though was that the bartenders took a lot of time to chat with us and made us feel very welcome. I will definitely make the trip back!

A beautiful addition to Rochester! Went in the first week it opened and sat at the bar. It's beautiful inside! We started with espresso martinis, the tequila and pecan, and that was great. Had a couple of appetizers, the fluffy pillows and burrata, which both we recommend for sure! We shared the bolognese and a couple of sides. Was good, however wouldn't get the quinoa salad again. Overall we had a great experience, nice meal, and bartender was awesome. We have reservations to go back with friends and can't wait to try more drinks and dishes!

Delicious bites with unique flavors, all presented in a cute and creative design! Great customer service too!

What a gem of a restaurant! Not a typical chain in the mall. The decor is nouveau and clean with a hip vibe. The menu items are so unique we didn't know where to start. I love their small plates concept. Of course we ordered the cones - 2 salmon and one edamame hummus. The presentation was delightful and though they are small,they're packed with flavor. We shared the spiced pork dumplings, and tenderloin tip brochette. Both had an abundance of flavor. The truffle mac n cheese was creamy and not overpowering. Our friends shared the wedge salad and rack of lamb. The restaurant was at full capacity , and it didn't slow down the service at all. Our table was treated with 4 glasses of bubbly for my birthday-a very nice touch. Making a reservation at The Jackson is a must. We went back a few weeks ago and couldn't even find a place at the bar. Great place in an unexpected location.

Three of us came for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We ordered wine and the Finding Cosmo cocktail. The cocktail was served in a cute fish glass but with way too much ice and a straw. It was too heavy for me but delicious. I requested it be served in a traditional martini glass with no ice, no problem. My sister ordered the Lobster Bisque soup and raved about it - delicious with chunks of lobster in it. We ordered shareable plates - 2 of the Butternut Squash Bruschetta and the Tenderloin Tip Brochette. The bruschetta was not your usual bruschetta but more like crostini. The crust is very crispy, a bit hard but the topping delicious. With only 4 pieces definitely not a meal in itself. The tenderloin was well prepared with a delicious sauce - very good. We shared the White Chocolate Almond Cake for dessert - good, not great. It was thoughtful that they added a candle for the birthday girl, a nice touch. The coffee was good. It was served in double wall glass cups with no handles but an interesting design of air pocket inside so that it wasn't too hot to hold but kept the coffee really nice and hot. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was beautiful and uplifting. It is a little pricey with smaller portions but I think innovative. It depends on what you are looking for. I will come back and look forward to trying some other menu options.

VERY pleasantly surprised... went to the restaurant because I wanted to get a gift card for someone but wanted to try the food first. Absolutely delicious! It is a bit pricey, but everything is nowadays - at lease the food is worth it! We had several appetizers - of which my son said the steak tips were hands down the best he's ever had (and we get them often). The ahi appetizer was so good I could go back for just that! I was very surprised that this place had been open as long as it has - they definitely should work on the advertising because I would hate if no one is going here because they don't know about it! I will definitely return!

Such a cool restaraunt! The seasonal menu had some awesome items, the fluffy pillows and roasted chicken were our favorites. Sasha was an incredible waitress and her service was outstanding! While the food was great Sasha was even better and her hand written thank you note made our night. Will definitely be back.

Tried out the Jackson last weekend, looking to try somewhere new. We had the crab and cabbage fritter, fluffy pillows, and drinks to start. Also had the caviar cones which were good but was surprised that there was sour cream at the bottom of the cones, also tried the edamame hummus cone which I would not recommend. For mains, we shared the bolognese which was an average bolognese, the filet that was cooked perfectly, mushrooms, truffle mac, and lastly, scalloped potatoes which were underwhelming. I feel like the menu could be a bit more advanced and the flavors need to be stronger and stand out more. Not sure if it was just an off night with the seasonings and flavor profile. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is modern and has character, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Service could've been better, we were not checked on much, only to order and bring our food. Manager (maybe?) was nice, however. Our little table lamp had went out and he immediately noticed and replaced it which was not needed but much appreciated and shows he cares and exhibits attention to detail. Price was a bit much considering the points listed above and for a newer restaurant. Overall, I'd give The Jackson a 3.5 if I could since I'm indifferent but I'll give a 3/5, because I believe with some minor tweaks to the dishes, menu, and staff, The Jackson could be a favorite and worth another try.

Visited the second week open so I'm sure there are still bugs to be worked out. Upon entering the restaurant I thought I was entering a Chinese takeout, the small waiting area leaves much to be desired. There was a 20 minute wait even with our reservation. Bar was full as well 7:15 on Tuesday. People waited outside on the side walk and needed to keep checking if their table was ready. Decor is trendy, nice vibe but very loud. Our server was great but the bartenders drinks were a little unbalanced (sweet). We shared 3 small plates and a side with 2 cocktails a piece. We had only intended on small plates and all were good. I only wish the buratta was served warm.

My wife and I moved back to Rochester 3 years ago from Orange County, CA and like to try new places. I'm fortunate to have traveled the world many times over and have had opportunities to dine at some very nice restaurants in LA, NY, Chicago, and many cities in the EU. My expectations are generally very low for dining experiences in this area. The Jackson absolutely hit the mark! Food and service was outstanding. We had the dumplings and Calamari for appetizers, the wedge salad, and for the main course the Filet and Halibut. We were blown away by the presentation, the preparation, and flavor! Service was absolutely on point and drinks were proper! Highly recommend!

Just had a surprise birthday dinner for my hubby with a table of 15 of our dear friends and this restaurant went above and beyond to make it such a special evening! From the stellar service (shout out to Jack and Cara) to the incredible food, this establishment takes the time to take care of their guests. Every single staff was kind and helpful including their owner Michael who worked with me in making this happen. Really genuinely appreciate all that they did. If you are looking for a fab spot with fantastic food and service, The Jackson is exactly where you need to be.

The place is very interesting looking and had a lot of abstract art work like Pollacks work. The seating is right next to each other across a bench. It is a small restaurant. The staff were very nice and welcoming. We had the fluffy pillows, the cones and beets & cream for starters, the fluffy pillows are over priced bread with a garlic Parmesan butter that should just be brought out without the $15 charge. The beets & cream was very good. The cones were a rip off. They are meant to be shared but are the size of the fork. They are one or two bite size and rather bland. Entrees we had were Chilean Black Seabass which was good but each of us had a different portions on our plates but the sauce was great and sautéed spinach and Swiss chard were lacking in flavor. The pork tenderloin was good. The sides of fluffy clouds were whipped potatoes were light and fluffy like clouds and had great taste. The lemon potatoes were amazing. The Miro Shrimp was out of this world good except for one little thing they added the sauce on top of the thyme that you can't really eat instead of on the shrimp itself. The desserts were okay the white chocolate almond cake didn't taste like anything but the lemon cream was wonderful but again the portion are not even cut. We had four sharing and brought out a small piece while the table next to us had two people with this massive piece. The Torte was very light and had enough of a coffee taste to bring out the chocolate flavor so well it melted in your mouth and as far as the ice cream that was supposed to be to come out with it was like cream sauce on the bottom no real ice cream like the description said.

The service was amazing! Food was pretty good, I will be going back to try more things on the menu! I do wish there was a few more pieces of shrimp because the aioli that was in that dish was fantastic!! My meal which was the salmon was absolutely amazing, I recommend if you love seafood especially salmon PLEASE order it!! The lemon dessert was so fresh and tasty!

Lamb chops were tasty on the edges but mostly fat. Placed our reservations directly with the restaurant but they had no record of them when we arrived. They did seat us after a 30 minute wait at the bar. Drinks (and bartender) were very good. Overall nice but over priced

This place is amazing and just what is needed in Rochester! Executive Chef Vaiciunas has created a beautiful menu that is unique and delicious - some of the best we've had. The bolognese with the homemade pasta was superb and the pork tenderloin was "melt in your mouth" tender. A really cool vibe with great service! Can't wait to go back

Then ordered appetizers in which case was calamari, Tuna Tartare and some barrata bread. The calamari was good and the sauce was great, the tuna tartare was nothing more than raw tuna drowning in a sweet sauce and the barrata bread was not great nothing special. We then ordered our entrées and we ordered a cesar salad with way too much dressing that it was like a soup. My wife ordered a cheese burger that was described as smash on the menu but there was nothing smashed about it also the bun was stale and burnt. We did get the vodka pasta that was ok as we were curious and wanted to taste it. I ordered the short rib but unfortunately I am unable to rate it because by the time I got it my wife who did try to hold off eating her dinner finished eating and than my entree came. So I sent it back. They than proceeded to apologize as they actually thought I ordered a cheeseburger that is why it was late getting to me. The poor expirence was attempted to be corrected with 1 free dessert that was likely one of the worst carrot cakes I have ever had. It was soaked in a sweet syrup. I WASTED not spent over $200 and a rare evening that I can enjoy with my wife without the worry of work or children. I do not recommend and I would never go back. Here is hoping another restaurant opens in that spot.

My husband and I had a 6:30pm reservation on a Saturday for dinner. The menu looked exciting, and we were seated promptly. We both ordered a drink and our server suggested we order the cones, several small plates to share and an entree each, making mention that the dinner would be paced. So, we ordered all of our food at once expecting it would come out at nicely paced times as we've experienced at other restaurants with a similar format. All of our small plates and cones came out at almost exactly the same time, leaving little room on our table and speeding our time there up tremendously. The cones were not for us, there wasn't enough texture to make them enjoyable. The rest of the food was just ok, with our favorite dish being the shrimp small plate. I had barely finished my first glass of wine when our entrees were coming out, and I wanted a red with the Bolognese, so I ordered another glass. The Bolognese was pretty good but a little greasy for my taste, and my husband ordered the rib eye which he enjoyed but was very smoky to me. Given how quickly our meal progressed, I had barely touched my second glass of wine when our server was boxing up our leftover entrees. At this point it was 7:30 and we had only been there an hour and finished the cones, 4 small plates, and entrees. We looked at the dessert menu, but decided we would rather get dessert elsewhere since it was still so early, but I still had my glass of wine to finish. I did notice the host at the stand turning and glaring at our table several times, and I could tell she was waiting for us to leave to seat other guests. Just before 7:50pm- barely one hour and 20 minutes since we sat down, a man (who I found out later was the owner because he didn't even introduce himself) came over to our table and let us know other people were waiting for tables and asked us to finish up. He left so quickly I barely understood what he said to us. I had to confirm with my husband that he just asked us to leave. I flagged down our server and asked him to have the owner come back over so I could understand what just happened. The owner came back over and I explained to him that it had only been an hour and 20 minutes since we sat down and I wanted to understand why he was asking us to leave. He explained that he was told we had been there for over two hours and that he was sorry for the mix-up, however, there was nothing else done to try to make amends. We were embarrassed and confused, and after spending $240 on our meal, we felt there was more the owner could have done to make us feel welcome to stay. There is also a clear miscommunication happening in the front of the house. All the owner had to do was look at the time of our reservation and he would have seen how long we were truly there. I ended up not finishing my wine because the of experience, and we left. I will say based on the food and the rushed pace, we already wouldn't have returned to this restaurant for dinner, but we definitely would have come for the fantastic wine and bar menu. After being asked to leave like we were doing something wrong, we will not be returning.

This is a wonderful addition to Rochester Hills, as there is nothing else like it in the area. The comments I heard from other patrons is that it makes you feel like you are in an amazing restaurant in a big city like LA, or Vegas. The food is pure art in its presentation, which makes sense why the Chef named it after the eccentric artist Jackson Pollock. The craft cocktails are all worth a try, especially "The Paint Can". This will be one of those restaurants that will have a several month waiting list, so get in when you can!

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner and had the best waiter you could have. Just sorry that I cannot recall his name. He is a Western University student who wants to become a pilot.

Very mediocre and inconsistent food. Not very comfortable setting either. Way too expensive for the quality. Skip it.

I really really wanted to love this place. The decor is hip and fun. It's sooooo loud inside. Seemed to be great GNO spot. I wouldn't go on romantic date here. They just opened and so it's always hard to get started so maybe things will smooth out after a bit. It was definitely packed and huge wait. We had reservations at 6pm and by 6:40 were being asked if we wanted dessert menu. We ordered 5 small plates to share and normally a small plate place, they slowly bring out food. It arrived all at once. I observed all the tables being hurried along. The food was artfully prepared but many dishes the flavor was off for me. My favorite things were the chorizo stuffed dates and the lemon dessert. I selected my drink partially for the tajin rim but it didn't get served with one. A bright spot was our server Jack! He was attentive and very helpful! Overall I think I just expected a more relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. It didn't help that a large group of people who knew two people at the bar but didn't have a seat was standing talking to them so it meant they were standing over us. I felt bad for the servers having to walk around them. I wish someone had asked them to wait by the door or outside.

Rochester area has been in the need of a higher end food experience and this is it. A menu that offers interesting and amazing food, outstanding cocktails, and excellent service, Don't miss dining at the areas best restaurant.

Very impressive dinner! Hands down, the most creative and best tasting food in town. You won't find this creative food on any other menu in Rochester. The hostess was welcoming and the atmosphere was quaint and sophisticated. It reminds me of many of the restaurants in New York. The food is above and beyond amazing. The menu is designed to create a shareable experience, which allows you to enjoy the taste of multiple different menu items. I prefer this concept over stuffing myself with one large entree. Our starters were Black Truffle Burrata and Fig Bruschetta. These literally melted in my mouth. Then we split the Banana leaf Mahi Mahi. The taste of cilantro lime coconut made this dish - absolutely amazing. We paired this with some white wine. Overall, could not have asked for a more perfect experience. The energy of the workers were very positive as they seem to work as a team. Very nice to have had our food brought out to us by a different employee as our server was tending to the next table! This concept allowed everything to come out in a timely manner. We'll definitely be returning here again very soon!

Quite possibly some of the worst service I've encountered in some time. We were seated right by the server computer and expo station for the kitchen so our server was by our table almost the entire evening, yet completely ignored us for the THREE hours we were there. And we were there for 3 hours because he wouldn't stop by our table - and this is not a big restaurant. We had to call him over when we wanted to order, he never asked to refresh our drinks, did not check in with us once the food was served and acted annoyed whenever we wanted something (sorry I needed a fork?!). When we ordered small plates he acted disgusted by our order as it wasn't a "big enough" order - which he actually said to us. I've never had a server judge an order size. When we called him over to order our dinners he repeatedly kept saying "that's not enough food" after each one of the 6 of us placed our orders. 4 of the 6 of us ordered salads with chicken and our other 2 are vegetarians. His response was "I cannot believe no one is actually ordering meat. You're not going to be happy with what you ordered. It's not enough" It felt like he was judging us because no one ordered steak. What server tells people they won't like what they ordered?!? On top of that, he refused to write down our orders and only got 3 of the 6 orders correct with 2 people not getting their meals until the rest of us were done. He claimed there was a "printer issue" in the kitchen. He also forgot our wine order. I understand mistakes are made and everyone has off nights but there wasn't even an apology for 3 of the meals being incorrect nor any attempt to take a drink off the bill or any attempt to make amends. I will NOT return to this establishment. When the bill for 6 people WHO DIDN'T ORDER MEAT (gasp!!) is almost $600 - there's an expectation that service is more than sub-par, meal orders are delivered correctly and timely (and if not, a simple apology is issued), drinks are not forgotten and plates are cleared upon finishing (yes, we had to stack our own plates and shove them to the side and no attempt was made to clear them until we were getting ready to leave.) None of us will return and I really hope the young man who served us realizes customer service matters and so does your attitude towards the clientele. (I was a server for many years so I'm usually incredibly forgiving. Not in this case.) Incredibly disappointing all around.

We were super excited for a new restaurant to open by us in The Village and had high hopes going into our dinner. After our first visit, I will say there is still room for improvement, we went opening week so I'm sure they were still ironing out the kinks. The vibe is wonderful, with all the cool artwork, Jackson Pollock theme hence the name. The food however was just ok. We shared quite a few appetizers, the cones are a cute idea but lacked flavor. My husband ordered the filet for his entree and I ordered the bolognese pasta, both were decent but nothing outstanding. Drink options were decent but again nothing amazing. I did enjoy the fact that they had a tequila option for an espresso martini, you don't see that very often. Service was decent until it came time for the check. Not sure if the waitress was new but we asked to split the check in half since we came with another couple and boy was that a disaster, it took over 30 mins for us to get our check back. Instead of splitting the total bill in half, she split each individual item in half which is why I'm assuming it took 30 mins to get the bill back. Considering it was the first week being open I will give The Jackson another try.

So good. Highly recommend date night sharing a few small plates and the craft cocktails which are beautiful! Really enjoyed spending our anniversary up at the bar seeing all the action. Great people, unique-but more importantly-great food, a gin and tonic you have to try, and a very chic atmosphere.... we were already talking about what we have to try when we come back next time before we were done with our food.:). Great addition to Rochester Hills.

We got a chance to dine at The Jackson and what a pleasant surprise we had reservations at 7:45 arrived at 7:40 and were promptly seated. I cannot say enough about the food in the service here for only being open two weeks we try a couple of specialty drinks and split some appetizers. Service was top-notch weight. Staff was very informed somebody had trained these people very well.

First time here and did not disappoint. Food was amazing and exceeded my expectations - everything from app (burrata), entree (mahi mahi) to dessert (choc torte) was unique, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Can't wait to come back! Space is really cool and energetic without feeling like they're trying too hard. Lucky to have this open so close to home.

The bartender was coughing over everything. The owner was rude to the staff making a very uncomfortable environment and the beet salad was basic at best
