I recently attended an event at The Jago in Dalston, and unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. While the performers and the initial atmosphere had potential, the event was overshadowed by poor management and unprofessional behavior.
The most concerning part of my experience was the encounter with the manager or owner. During a moment of confusion, as we were trying to resolve some conflicts, he showed up without introducing himself and immediately spoke down to me with dismissive and aggressive behavior. This left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. It’s clear that this isn’t an isolated incident, as similar complaints have been shared by others, indicating a troubling pattern.
Additionally, the poor communication didn’t just affect attendees; it also led to significant delays and inefficiencies for those of us who were there to support the event and help the host. This lack of coordination created a stressful, disorganized environment, making it clear that both consumers and artists will face these challenges.
I hope that the staff at The Jago recognize that they deserve to work in an environment where communication is respectful, empathetic, and free from toxic dynamics. Everyone involved, from staff to attendees, deserves a positive and supportive environment.
In conclusion, while the event had potential, the poor management and unprofessional conduct overshadowed the experience. I strongly advise against engaging with this venue or its management and hope for meaningful change in the future.
