Are you bored? Find yourself wanting to socially drink but don't drink? Look no further! The Jasper is the place to go ! The industrial old time look is the best! Dope playlist & speakeasy vibes. It was a little tight but everyone was courteous. The service was on point, we didn't feel bombarded nor rushed. I personally do not drink, so I was amazed when I saw non-alcoholic options! YES! I went for the coffee bean drink then the pineapple spiced (Forgive me I don't remember the drink names) and the spiced peanuts. The bill wasn't outrageous, I definitely recommend you all go ! P.S. it is Carytown..so parking is trash

The cocktails were really good and oddly way faster than expected. Complex cocktails on a busy Friday night in under 15 minutes for your first round!? Very impressed. The penicillin shot is a must. Incredible packaging. Market this more! Bring them around to tables. We had Caribbean Kween, Tartarian Fizz and The Beauregarde. So so good!!! We will be back anytime we are on Cary Street!

Reserved a table for a 30th birthday, very upscale and classy cocktail bar. Would like it if they had more food options. Espresso martini was super smooth and sweet.

I went to Jasper for the first time it got very crowded very quickly. They have happy hour from 5 to 7 every night so we think that was worth it but we’re not sure a $14 drink would’ve been worth it. It’s at happy hour timing. it’s a cute place but was I blown away now The bartenders were knowledgeable, but they didn’t look like the most creative drinks I’ve ever seen are they worth 14 $15 not sure.

We didn’t get food, only had cocktails. That said, we absolutely loved it here! The decor is beautiful. Lots of seating. Gorgeous hardwood bar. And the drinks…!! 🤤🤤🤤 The cocktails were awesome. Very well made, thoughtful and creative. Very well balanced and well executed. There’s a range of different options, including introducing me to a booze I’ve never heard of before (sotol). If we lived closer we’d definitely be back! Oh… and the playlist was all 90s rap! What’s not to love?

Google
The Jasper was recommended to My wife and I by our waitress at Conejo - we were just in town two nights. We both enjoyed our drinks and service at the Jasper. Great Bartenders, very friendly, great atmosphere , the location seems older than the "established" date, I would have thought the location was much older! Great time !!

Google
My group and I had a great experience here tonight! Came in for some cocktails and we were not disappointed. Relatively good prices. The service was great and I loved the ambience in there! Will definitely come back!!

Google
If you’re looking for the stereotype of a bar - in the nicest way possible - look no further: The Jasper is it! And The Jasper has it! Lovely hand crafted cocktails for a very reasonable price, especially during Happy Hour! The staff is nice, attentive and they know what they’re doing. I had an outstandingly good Negroni here. So hop on in and grab a seat at the bar, it’s totally worth it!

Yelp
My husband and I visited The Jasper for the first time after hearing rave reviews, and it did not disappoint. Talented mixologists whipping up cocktails from a uniquely stellar menu. We will be back!

Yelp
Went here last week with a group of friends. The TLDR is: This was my first time and will absolutely be my last. They close at 12 and we came in around 11. I immediately knew the vibe was going to be off when we entered, as we received a less than warm welcome and noticed that one of the workers was literally frowning as they watched up walk in. We started with one waitress, but eventually it shifted to a different blue haired person who had the worst attitude I've ever encountered while patronizing a business. My drink, an espresso martini was one of the first to be sat down and I could tell by looking at it that it wasn't right. It was a light amber color, closer to that of maple syrup than espresso. I felt bad speaking up, but I also don't think I should've paid $15 for something so poorly made. I revived a snarky "OKAY!!" and eye roll and an abrupt walk away from the same blue haired person. They didn't give me a chance to order something else, or even apologize, they just took it an walked off. I'd tasted my friends drink and enjoyed it, so when they finally came back, I got the same one she had. What a mistake I made to think that ordering a second drink after complaining was a good idea. I'm almost 100% sure they left the alcohol. Everyone at the table noticed and commented on how rude this person was. You literally could not pay me to come back here.

Yelp
One of my favorite happy hours! Daiquiri is exceptional, the old fashioned is perfectly balanced, and the steak tartare ‍‍‍ so good! Each one $7 on HH

Yelp
Look, I wanna give this place stars for cool and hip vibes. It's not quite a speakeasy BUT it's very discreet looking from the outside and has a speakeasy feel to it. This is a BAR. Come for the drinks- they are cheated on a rotating basis and truly unique. This place is dope. So if it's so dope, why give it 3 stars you ask? The snacks. They are just that- think Costco on a plate. Which is cool if you're not hungry. So come here for sure, I loved the vibes. It was perfect to stop in for one drink and look at the people.

Yelp
Best cocktail bar in Richmond. Great location in carytown. Perfect stop for before or after dinner, a show, stroll, etc. No reservations as they are first come first serve but the waitlist goes quick. They currently have a Christmas pop up going on with crafted seasonal drinks and small plates. A great vibe for friends or a date night.

Yelp
Honestly this place never ends to amaze me. I always end up having a blast here! During December make sure you end up getting there at least 15-30 minutes before it opens! Towards the last week of December you can show up 5-10 min before they open. But then again it honestly depends! ORDER THE TURKEY SUB (during December). It was amazing!! I wish I took a picture of it and all its glory, but it was gone in SECONDS. Overall, amazing place, and amazing vibes.

Yelp
I've heard great things about The Jasper and finally got to give it a try with a couple of friends. We came late on a weeknight and there wasn't a wait at all and the first thing that stood out to me was the ambiance. We had a booth in the corner which was oriented so that the booth seats and table faced the wall which I actually liked since it seemed more private and intimate. It was dimly lit and wasn't too loud which made it a nice place to socialize. I got to try the Quoit Club Punch which I enjoyed since it wasn't too strong and had some sweetness. I also tried a round of Penicillin Shots with my friends and this had a strong ginger flavor which I wasn't expecting since I didnt' read the menu description but it wasn't bad and I'd say its worth a try. All in all, this is probably one of the best cocktail bars you'll find in Richmond and I'd definitely come again when I have the chance. I do want to try this place again during the holidays since they decorate the bar accordingly but I heard it can be pretty crowded during that time so be prepared to wait!

Yelp
I stopped in here for their Bar Muertos special for Dia De Los Muertos last weekend, and thought it was so thoughtfully decorated, planned, and executed. Every inch of the place was beautiful and significant to the holiday! The drinks were absolutely delicious- I had the Wings of Dante (smoky and delicious) and the Poco Loco (sweet, light, amazing), which is pictured. The only only complaint I have is the noise level of the bar - even when the event isn't going, it's a rather loud bar. They more than make up for it with their fair prices and knowledgeable, welcoming staff. I will be back!

Yelp
I've heard rave reviews about The Jasper being the ultimate speakeasy for drinks and late-night snacks in Richmond, VA, so I had to see for myself. Parking was a bit tricky, but I found that parking at the mini mall worked well. The ambiance was upscale yet relaxed, making it perfect for impressing someone special. The drinks menu was dynamic, with frequent changes, adding to the excitement. I tried the coconut espresso, which was above average, and The Swan Song, a superbly crafted old fashioned with a refined taste. Another Vice transported me to a beach vacation with its delightful flavors. Each drink packed a punch, and the service was attentive and efficient, ensuring we got our drinks and snacks promptly. Overall, The Jasper lived up to its reputation, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Me and a girlfriend came here after dinner one night. This place has a laid back, speakeasy vibe to it. The servers are very nice and attentive. We ordered one drink here and then decided to go home but overall it was a really nice place. They had an extensive menu with good options and I would definitely come back.

Yelp
I had a lovely time at the Jasper on New Year's Eve. We were there for the last day of Miracle on Cary, so the drinks and snacks im about to describe aren't part of the Jasper's regular menu. They are available from Thanksgiving-new years when the Jasper temporarily transforms into the Miracle on Cary St (@miraclerva on the Gram). We had a large party and made the decision to reserve a table ahead of time. If you don't have reservations, I would be cautious about making sure you get a table and show up ahead of time. People were lining up around the block waiting at 4:45! The decor inside is amazing. It is clear that not only time and effort but a great deal of planning goes into this year transformation. There are many great photo ops if that's what you're looking for! As a group we couldn't resist the "MERRY CHRISTMAS YA FILTHY ANIMAL" tinsel display. Our table ordered an assortment of drinks, including some naughty shots, the Christmapolitan, the snowball old fashioned, the grandma/TREX, the yippee ki yay, egg nog and buttered rum. For snacks we enjoyed helpings of the trash snack food, and the cream cheese/beef dip that was served with Fritos. Nothing was healthy but everything addictively delicious, which sums up how I prefer to approach my holidays anyway. This was a great experience. Miracle on Cary Isn't designed to attract regulars but functions more as an extreme themed holiday novelty. In that category, we must award an A+ for success. It's worth it to note the number of dairy/alcohol combo drinks on the menu. I personally take it especially light on drinks of that type. They do not sit well, I feel. Other friends asked me to mention that the "grandma got run over by a t-rex" drink did NOT arrive in its t-Rex vessel as advertised. The other drinks all came in their holiday vessels but this particular drink was served in daiquiri glasses.

Yelp
The Jasper came highly recommended by a lot of locals for the best place to grab drinks in Richmond. I can't say the place was for me though. The service was great and the place was very busy soon after opening but the vibe just wasn't for me. Nothing personal about the place at all, I just wasn't feeling it.

Yelp
One of the best cocktail spots in town. The Jasper just oozes cool. Every drink here is made with love and intention. The bartenders really know their stuff and do a great job at drink presentation. I'm not a big cocktail person, but when I come here I want to be one. It's not often I can say a cocktail bar inspires me. If you haven't heard of it, everyone is a huge fan of their Christmas pop-up, Miracle on Cary. It can be a very long wait to get into this pop-up, but I think every Richmonder should try it once within their first three years of living here. During Christmas this is one of the best decorated places and has the best xmas themed drinks. This place is still amazing other times of the year. Two of my favorite drinks here are their nitro bourbon and ginger cocktail and the humuhumunukunukuapua'a cocktail. The first has a nice warm kick and the second is very refreshing. The Jasper will have quite a few pop-ups during the year. It's a local place with a lot of charm and great cocktails. I highly recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Amazing cocktails and fun atmosphere. Sometimes hard to get in but they have a good system for texting you when a table is available.
google avatar

Liz H.

Yelp
Fun to take a small group or friend of you want to try something more creative than a dive bar. The apps and HH specials are fun during the week, my favorite thing to order are the "Penicillin" shots that come in a medicine bottle. The only thing is that it can get loud in there, the acoustics could use some management.
google avatar

Carolyn H.

Yelp
Come for Delcious and creative cocktails, stay for the awesome ambience. The staff puts a lot of thought and time into everything here. here are some photos from their Día de los muertos celebration...incredible drinks to match the theme!

Yelp
The vibe of the jasper won me over instantly with a relaxed speakeasy-ish venue. My husband and I stopped in to enjoy some cocktails and we ended up staying awhile. The menu of cocktails has something for everyone from concoctions with tequila, gin, whiskey and even absinthe, im sure you can find something that suits you well. I have a few of the tequila cocktails but after a special shot caught our eye. The Penicillin shot is listed on the menu so obviously my husband and I (scientists) needed to check that out! It came in a screw top container that looked like a pill bottle with the prescription label on it and everything! A whiskey/scotch and ginger shot that was surprisingly delightful! The bartenders were ready to help us any time our drinks were empty and always refilled waters as well! I think I may have found my new favorite cocktail spot!
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
Be aware that there'll mostly likely be a wait (esp on the weekends) Great ambience for a GNO or a date night drinks. It's pretty loud but what bar in rva isn't. The drinks are truly an art and watching the bartenders make the drinks are very entertaining and they definitely got good experience.

Yelp
One of the best bars in Richmond! The drinks are always great and the atmosphere is amazing! It's such a warm and cozy place to go for a mid week drink to catch up with a friend!
google avatar

Yelp
OH my goodness, as is humans in 2022 would say, this place is a whole vibe! My friend highly suggested coming here for drinks when I was visiting. I'm not a big drinker, but I did not want to miss out. I'm so glad I went. I had one alcoholic drink from the menu and one mocktail. I wish more places had mocktail on their menu. But, they graciously accommodated and it was delicious! Their attention to detail is impressive. From their garnishes to the their logo ice cubes to the water bottles used out of old liquor bottles. I was highly impressed. Pricing is very reasonable. I hear this place is a little hot spot, so it does get crowded.
google avatar

Yelp
Without a doubt, the best martinis in Richmond. Glasses are frozen and the martini is done right, start to finish. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
The Jasper is such a cool spot. From the moment you enter the discreet store front, the ambiance is amazing. The bar drinks are craft at its finest and their bartenders are well trained and very entertaining and interesting to watch when they're preparing their cocktails. This is the perfect spot for drinks and even a small bite. I highly recommend as the first stop on your next date night excursion. We'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Had to wait 45+ minutes for a table on a Friday night but was a good espresso martini! Great place to go for a chill but elevated experience. I love the moody but classy interior. Lots of intriguing drinks! Just plan ahead because there is usually a wait.

Courtney R.

Yelp
Such a cute place! The drinks were delicious. Definitely recommend you stop in if you're in RVA.

Yelp
If you're into cocktails, this is one of the best cocktail bars in the city. Nice ambiance. Experienced servers. Small interior. This is not the place to go if you're hungry, though. Menu is basically snacks.
google avatar

Ruchi D.

Yelp
This is the best cocktail bar in Richmond or as close to a cocktail bar as you can get in Virginia. The menu is ever changing with new and innovative cocktails crafted by the bar tenders. They have top shelf liquor.

Yelp
I did it! I finally made it to The Jasper's famed holiday pop-up Miracle on Cary Street and, let me tell you, it was worth the hype. We took the insider tip and arrived about 30 minutes prior to opening. Even then, there was a line down the block. We ended up waiting about an hour to get in, being right on the tail end of the first seating. You simply can't beat the Christmas vibes and decor! From the wall covered in bows to the bar adorned with bad family Santa portraits, every little detail has been considered. Now: the drinks. They were absolutely amazing! I first ordered the On Dasher with some encouragement from our lovely waitress. One of my favorite drinks ever! It's like sipping a lemon merengue pie! My friend got the Clausmopolitan and was kind enough to share; also a great option there. In addition to that we were hungry & ordered a few snacks: the party mix, the Christmas dip, and the meatballs. Everything was a hit! If you haven't had meatballs with grape jelly, you're absolutely missing out. We stuck around for another drink & I tried the Egg Nog while my friend got the Elfing Around. Once again, no complaints! The cocktails are clearly created with love & care and I would've tried each one if that wouldn't have ended terribly... Overall, a can't miss for the holiday season!
google avatar

Amelia H.

Yelp
My review is based on their mocktail menu, if you gave the cocktails I'm sure the experience is extremely different. I've has 3/4 of the mocktail options on their menu and only really enjoyed 1/3. The first was a cocktail altered to be a mocktail. It was really mediocre & $13 because they use seedlip. The second was their na-groni which was great. Tastes like biting into an orange peel. The last was the sobolo. I couldn't drink more than a few sips & my friends who also took a sip were not fond of it either. The few times I've come the service has also been super hit or miss. But yeah maybe I'll give them another shot in a few months if some friends really want to, but I'm good not going back.
google avatar

Jade H.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Knowledgeable bartenders.. my favorite place to grab a well made cocktail! They even offer happy hour on the daily so that's a major plus. My favorites are the Polaris, Club Punch, and the Daiquiri. Food options are limited so don't come here expecting a full blown meal.. come here to DRANK.
google avatar

Markida M.

Yelp
So I tried this place with some friends because we heard about their Miracle on Cary theme. It was a lot of fun, the drinks were heavily poured which was a bonus. They definitely stay on theme with their Christmas decorations. The staff were very sweet and accommodating. The drinks were between $11-$15. Be aware that when you visit the place is small so you do have to wait outside in order to wait for your seats. We didn't mind it as we knew that's what it'd be like. Dress accordingly! It was a lot of fun.

Yelp
The CUTEST happy hour spot in Carytown. This place has easily become our go to. We stopped in before dinner during happy hour from 5-7 and was blown away by the equally delicious and affordable drinks and food. I'm a creature of habit but this is the one place I'll step out of my comfort zone to try new drinks! The "Soup" Du Jour (not soup) is their drink of the day and what I order every time and I haven't been disappointed yet! Pair your drinks with the Steak Tartare *chefs kiss* or really any of their food specials, it's all so good! Sidenote: I'm allergic to lemon and they happily adjusted the ingredients in the Steak Tartare and used limes instead - Brownie points earned!! I'd recommend heading in around 5, there is usually always a table available! Parallel parking is also available all around Cary St. Enjoy those "Full Pours & Honest Prices"!!

Adam S.

Yelp
We arrived 10 minutes after they opened. We were asked to wait outside while they get other patrons sat. Five minutes later we try poking our head in to see if there's room for us to stand inside and wait, and quickly get told to go wait outside with a much harsher tone. We were told their bartenders need a break. A break 10 minutes after opening? Sounds like they just need more/better staff. We didn't wait around and went somewhere else. Not planning on returning.
google avatar

Georgia J.

Yelp
Amazing service and drinks! We didn't wait long at all to be seated and had an amazing waitress. The espresso martini is so solid.
google avatar

Emma M.

Yelp
Such a good vibe! The drinks are to die for, and the staff is so kind and always up for a challenge if you have a drink in mind. The popcorn is so dang good, such a good little snack while you enjoy your cocktails. Definitely recommend this cocktail bar, bring a date, go by yourself, or bring some friends and enjoy the new cocktail menu!
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Got here at 4 pm and stood in line outside- so worth the wait. Great drinks, atmosphere - our bartender Eden was friendly and made great drinks- and cool Christmas decor. Perfect night out.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Super cool cocktail bar with a speakeasy vibe that will take you back in time. This place is packed with small seating also, even though they do have tapas and snacks if definitely just recommend coming here for their spin on the classic old fashioned, or one of their generously poured creative creations.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Great drinks and chill vibes. Had a really great time hanging with a friend and trying different drinks.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
My friend and I went here for the miracle on Cary street pop up. I normally don't really go to bars but Christmas is my thing. This was such a fabulous experience. We got there early so we weren't in the back of a long line. Once they opened we got in right away and they only let a few people in at a time so it was peaceful inside. The staff was incredible, drinks were delicious, and decor was outstanding. The perfect Christmas experience!
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
OMG do we love The Jasper. From the vibe, to the creative cocktails and amazingly knowledgeable and friendly staff and bartenders, there's just nothing else like it in Richmond. They make a fabulous old fashioned and the bourbon and ginger nitro on tap will knock your socks off. The espresso martini is divine, made with their house-infused spirits. It's the perfect balance of bitter and sweet (just like me). The food offerings are perfect for a bar like this and align with the vibe. Highly recommend!

G O.

Yelp
I love the drinks and the fun vibe for miracle. However, I have to give one star because my mother and I waited an hour and a half to get in after lining up at 4:45 pm. I don't mind the wait time. I just wish it the bar had a waitlist/text system like other bars/restaurants on the same street. There's no need to have patrons lined up and waiting like it's a Disney ride. Let us go about our night and come back once a table is open.
google avatar

Erlyn G.

Yelp
Me and my friends wanted to do happy hour on the weekend and was so glad to find out that Jasper was offering that! Def need to get there earlier than 5PM since it gets PACKED really quickly. Interior was really nice but can be a lil cramped. I also liked how they only had a sign that says "Bar" outside. It made it inconspicuous and if you werent paying attention, could miss it. For drinks, always ask for their soup du jour because I loved what they had on the menu that day! Their margaritas were ok, nothing special. Daquiri didnt have the best taste but will mess you up. My friend wanted a virgin drink so they had asked her what she likes and made it based off that. I thought that was cute c: Thought happy hour was worth it and would come back again!

Ld C.

Yelp
Wish you'd been alive to enjoy the Speakeasies of the 1930s? Look no further. The Jasper (a little hard to find -- blacked out windows, and the only hint outside is a small sign that says "BAR") is a cozy little place that puts good drinks at a fair price right up front. Every drink from the bar will be exquisitely prepared, and reasonably priced. The old-fashioned appetizer menu is superb: smoked trout spread, mushroom pâté, steak tartar -- so much to explore, and all perfectly prepared. Service is prompt and pleasant. Background music is an awesome and flawless blend of new and old. Perfect place for a cocktail. Or two. Or ...
google avatar

Thomas N.

Yelp
Way too hip for us old folks but it's a great cocktail bar. Definitely try the Caribbean Kween and the Penicillin Shot to get the full experience. Both are unlike anything I've ever tasted.

Yelp
We had some apps and drinks before a concert and it was so lovely!!! We had one of everything on the apps menu and it was quit a culinary journey! And the drinksssss omgggg we all started off w something. Fun and new from the cocktail menu and then moved straight into the nitro bourbon and gingers!!!! Cannot wait to go back and snuggle up w a nitro bourbon and ginger lol really great spot!!!

Tasha C.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite bar in Richmond. The drinks are so fine, everyone they make is good. The snacks are good and nice to munch on while you enjoy your cocktails. Really cool atmosphere. I particularly enjoy the old speckled hen beer and the expresso martini
google avatar

Wolf P.

Yelp
Excellent place for cocktails with a chic, speakeasy vibe. Be prepared for a wait if you're visiting on a Friday or Saturday night but it's totally worth it. The cocktail options are phenomenal and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable. Ambiance alone deserves 5 stars. Great music and decor. An excellent date night spot! Would highly recommend as there is nothing else quite like this in Richmond.

Yelp

Yelp
How had I never heard of this place! Awesome cocktail bar, and when I walked it reminded me of a speakeasy. They have a plethora of specialty drinks to choose from, but of course if your basic they can mix anything. It was packed when I came, a Saturday night, so we waited at the bar for people to leave before we got a nice lounge area in the back. the detail in the drinks is great! Love the stamped ice cubes.

Yelp
Pretty good cocktails, SUPER loud and kind of pretentious. The apps saved it. Warm olives and hummus was to die for. The old fashioned was over-played in previous reviews.
