Whoa, Eugene has it's very own jazz club bringing live jazz 3-4 nights a week.
The Jazz Station is a member-supported, volunteer-run venue located right in the heart of downtown. It's a nice space and the sound is solid. The seating consists of rows of chairs placed around small tables. It's nothing fancy but it works.
A variety of acts play here. You'll find professional musicians, jazz students from UO, and everything in between. The prices are affordable, usually in the 10-12 dollar range. Most shows have a 7:30 start time, though the music seems to start 10-15 mins later.
I came on a Thursday night to see the Portland-based Greg Goebel quintet, and it was fantastic. I'd purchased my tickets online (the website makes it easy to reserve tickets) and the show ended up selling out that night. The crowd definitely skewed older, though there was a good amount of young people in there as well. I came in at 7:10 and was able to score some OK seats towards the back. I'd imagine you need to get there pretty early if you want some good seating up front. I guess it also depends on who's playing.
I had a great time here and would highly recommending stopping in for a show. Oh, did I mention the very reasonable drink prices? Check out the event calendar on the website and find the right show for you!
