"As far as we can tell, there are three scenarios in which you might already know about The Jeffrey. 1. You’re a beer geek and you live somewhere near/under the 59th Street Bridge. 2. You stumbled upon it as you were desperately trying to escape Bed Bath & Beyond, running in any direction that promised the fastest route to freedom. 3. You saw it in our 2014 Summer Guide. Otherwise, this is probably the first time you’re hearing about this little gem located under the Roosevelt Island Tram. The thing is, once you do make it into The Jeffrey, and regardless of the circumstances that brought you to it, you’ll be coming back. This place is easily the best bar in 20 blocks in any direction, and they also happen to have a great food menu and a big backyard beer garden. We have found ourselves visiting The Jeffrey whenever we’re in need of something Midtown or Upper East Side with outdoor seating, or when we’re looking for a spot to watch a game. The sandwiches and bar food bites are solid, the atmosphere is laid back, the beer list is huge, and the staff is friendly. I think what we like most about The Jeffrey, though, is that there’s another layer beyond all of those things I just mentioned. In addition to the beer and the beer garden and the nice TV situation, there’s also an interesting little espresso bar and cocktail “lab” on one side of the space. This area has its own separate entrance, and is presided over by a man they call “The Bearded Alchemist.” As you can probably imagine, The Bearded Alchemist is awesome, and he makes excellent drinks, often incorporating unique ingredients like homemade ginger beer and mole bitters. During the daylight hours, this section of the bar also offers high quality coffee and growlers of beer to-go. The fact that those things are even available to you in this neighborhood make The Jeffrey unique and are also a testament to the fact that it’s much more than just a beer garden - it’s an escape. Just plan your getaway wisely. They designed that Bed Bath & Beyond so that it’s nearly impossible to get out. Like a prison. With Swiffers. Food Rundown Pretzels These are actually Sigmund’s pretzels, and if you haven’t had them before, they’re pretty great. You have three options available to you - salted, garlic and parsley, or truffle cheddar. We usually go for all three and share them. Red Beet Deviled Eggs Bright red, a little bit earthy, and pretty damn tasty. Order them if you like beets and/or eggs. Devils On Horseback Bacon wrapped dates. These are sweet and salty, as they should be. Great as a snack to go with that 11% IPA you’re sipping on. The Jeffrey Reubenstein A very solid reuben with an IPA mustard that has a unique flavor. You can’t go wrong with this one. BLT We like the BLT at The Jeffrey because there’s a layer of egg salad on top of the bacon, and we’re fans of putting things we like on top of things we like. Oysters There’s usually a good selection of oysters on hand here. We had some Wellfleets on a recent visit, and they usually have a West Coast variety or two as well." - Chris Stang

I cannot recommend The Jeffrey in downtown Columbus highly enough! The building itself is stunning— modern amenities, clean common areas, and a location that's hard to beat. But what truly sets The Jeffrey apart is the incredible management team, particularly Dorian, the property manager. Dorian is hands down the most attentive and helpful property manager I've ever worked with. He genuinely cares about the residents and goes above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Anytime l've had a question or needed assistance, Dorian has responded quickly and made sure everything was handled smoothly. His attention to detail and commitment to creating a positive living experience are second to none. Whether it's organizing community events, ensuring maintenance requests are handled promptly, or just being a friendly face around the property, Dorian truly makes The Jeffrey feel like home. If you're considering moving downtown, do yourself a favor and check out The Jeffrey-you won't be disappointed!

Could not be happier with my experience living at The Jeffrey. The location is fantastic, offering easy access to downtown and the Short North area. A special shoutout to Dorian, the leasing manager, who made the move-in process seamless! Dorian guided me through finding the perfect space and was incredibly helpful throughout my time there. Maintenance issues are addressed promptly and the management team is understanding and responsive. I highly recommend The Jeffrey to anyone looking for a great place to live in Columbus!

Google
Living here has been such a relaxing experience! The atmosphere is calm and laid-back, and the people in the community are super chill. One of the standout features is the cement floors – you can’t hear your neighbors or any stomping, which makes a huge difference in the overall comfort of living here. The amenities are fantastic, especially with the recent gym renovation. It’s a game-changer and shows that management really cares about keeping everything modern and high-quality. The complex is also perfectly situated in the middle of a walkable community with easy access to High Street – everything you need is just a short stroll away. Lastly, I have to give a huge shoutout to Dorian! He truly goes above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly and that residents feel welcome and taken care of. He’s a major part of what makes this place so amazing. If you’re looking for a relaxed, well-maintained, and community-focused place to live, this is it! Highly recommend.

Google
The Jeffery is a great place to live! It was an easy fun process from touring to moving in. The leasing staff is awesome and always answers any and all questions! The apartment was clean and ready for moving in so quickly! Many great amenities! The new gym is huge!!

Google
I cannot stress enough how amazing the location, apartment design, and amenities are for the price. Brand new building, you’ll be the first to live in that apartment! I pay about $150 more than my previous apartment in Polaris, but I get a garage, a closet twice the size, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, two other huge closets, not to mention the 10 min/0.6 mile walk to n high st! The only thing that could be seen as a negative is the train tracks nearby, as well as the highway exit with the rumble strips, but I personally don’t mind white noise. Please do not underestimate the value of this place! I did my research and especially with the specials going on now while they try to fill up the units, this is the best value by far in the short north!

Google
Living at the Jeffery has been such a pleasant experience and the location itself is great if you take an interest of being close to the short north area ! Everyone has been very attentive to any of my needs, staff member Dorain is an amazing asset to the building as well he makes me feel so welcomed anytime I see him at the front desk answering any questions I need or just simply a pleasant greeting!

The Jeffrey is amazing! Also, the leasing agent Dorian Penaflor goes above and beyond on all his duties. Lucky to call this place home!

Yelp
Living at The Jeffrey is such a delight. Dorian will guide you through the process of finding the right space for you, and is so helpful and fun! So far, my living experience here has been seamless. I requested maintenance to help me with my shower head and they came within the same week. It's quiet here and everyone in the building is respectful of their neighbors. I'm so glad to live here, especially living on my own for the first time as a woman. I feel totally safe here. - Kathryn M

Yelp
We have lived here for 2 years. The 1st year was in the battery B units. We loved the apartment and never had any issues with management. We needed a larger unit due to having a larger dog (golden retriever). So we waited for a 4th floor unit in The Jeffrey building to come open. We love living here. We just signed a 2 year lease and are moving to a even larger unit on the 4th floor Jan 1st. Tammy who has leased us our 3 units is so helpful and very caring. I would encourage if you move here to attend the events in the lobby, free food, drinks and you get to know the others in the building. I recently read some of the reviews on here and can honestly say I'm shocked. Everyone here is treated with respect. Battery B we were in 200, this is a end top floor unit. Our AEP in the summer $100 with our air set on 65, winter we hardly even used our heat always stayed around 67. The Jeffrey 4th floor loft, AEP for our unit is $125. As I write this review its 25 outside and we have the A/C on 67. No problems with our windows letting cold air in. Great place to live! Just be smart about what you really want and choose the right unit for you.

Olivia D.

Yelp
Battery B: I loved this apartment so much, but the landlord, Tammy, was completely impossible to get a hold of and work with. We had things break in our apartment that would be broken for months because she didn't respond to my many emails. Our windows wouldn't close for almost the full last year we lived there because they were "waiting on a part" to fix it. It is obvious Tammy does not care about any of the tenants in this building. She's also a Trump supporter.... just sayin.... We had some amazing memories in this apartment. I am sad to give it a low rating because of Tammy but she was pretty much the worst landlord ever. If I was just basing it off the apartment, I would definitely give 5 stars. Battery B is an awesome place!!

Yelp
My fellow dog lovers of ALL breeds, this place is for you!! The kind, accepting atmosphere of The Jeffrey/Metal Works is a giant breath of fresh air for this mama of two big dogs, one being a misunderstood breed. If you have a breed that is commonly not allowed in apartments, you know exactly what I mean! Tammy is also SO nice and funny. You can tell she truly cares about every single tenant. Great place that I feel so grateful to have found :)

Yelp
I've been at Metal Works for 3 months so far. Overall the property is nice. The tenants are friendly and respectful and the location is key. I wish my window blinds were thicker so the neighbors across the way didn't see me walking around topless in the apartment every night. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everyone's spotify playlist, sitcoms, and couples moaning aggressively late at night and sometimes early in the morning.... Other than that the electricity went out from 6-730am one time which messed up my mourning routines before work. Also wished FedEx boxes were delivered to the door rather than left on the public first floor. Luckily no one has snagged any of my mail, but it leaves a splash of anxiety sometimes. Aside from these fallbacks I am 87% satisfied where I live.

Yelp
I moved into The Jeffrey a little less than a month ago, and I love it here for SO MANY reasons: 1. Rebecca and Tammy are awesome, and they've been quick to respond to my questions and requests. 2. The apartment has been very well maintained, and it was immaculate when I moved in. 3. The fixtures are really nice--granite countertops, matching appliances, a rainwater shower, wood floors, w/d in unit, HUGE windows...I could go on. 4. My 1 bedroom isn't too large, but the design is well thought out--closets provide ample storage and it's all the space I need. 5. I was concerned that it could be loud since it's a pet-friendly building, but there is minimal noise in my living room, and my bedroom is insulated by the washer/dryer closet and bathroom. Everything has been quiet. 6. The building itself is really beautiful, and I love that it's secure. I feel very safe living here on my own. The rooftop has a great view of downtown. Overall...I couldn't recommend highly enough!

Yelp
I spent more than a year and a half at The Jeffrey and couldn't have loved it more. The location is fantastic, and the quality of the apartments is next to none. The gated parking is a huge plus for a downtown apartment. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating to whatever issues you have come up! I was able to find a house to purchase, but was still sad to finally move out.

Yelp
I've lived in the Metalworks building at the Jeffrey for 4 1/2 years now, and I have nothing but great things to say about my experience here. The unique design elements (especially the exposed I-beams and duct work and concrete floors) make this building one of a kind, and its location simply can't be beat. The building is close enough that it's an easy walk to the bars, restaurants, and shopping that make the Short North a such great place to live, while being set back far enough from High Street that residents here can also escape from the hustle and bustle, and don't have to contend with many of the drawbacks and that often come along with living in such a desirable location (excessive noise and parking issues, for example). The complex is pet-friendly, of course, but The Jeffrey/Metalworks stands out as one of the few apartment complexes in the Short North that's completely surrounded by a grassy area that's large enough for residents and their pets to play on. As a female living alone, one of the features I've enjoyed the most has been peace of mind, as the gated parking and the key fob entry system give a sense of security. While I haven't had many issues while living here, property management and maintenance have been very responsive and friendly when I have had occasion to interact with them. I'm a bit sad to be leaving, and I would stay here longer if I could, but it's time for me to move on and open a new chapter in my life. I'm certain that I will always fondly remember the time I spent living here at Metalworks.

Leah W.

Yelp
Management is unresponsive and impossible to communicate with. SEVERAL areas of the property are disappointing at best, most blaringly the gym hitch is full of rusted out and old equipment. Walls are thin and residents are loud. Not even close to worth the money.

Yelp
I got to sneak a peek at the in-construction Jeffrey Place apartments. Though totally out of my price range, they're going to be awesome. The apartments I saw were both one bedroom. One was situated on the corner of the building; two of its entire walls were made of glass, floor to two-story ceiling. It was unbelievable. You felt like you were living outside but with all the comforts and amenities of the inside. The view isn't so hot right now because of all the mud and construction vehicles, but if you use your imagination... I asked about privacy and safety. There's nothing like living in a glass house. The agent said the windows are tinted so you can see out, but you can't really see in - just lights and shadows. Also, the glass is very durable. The other apartment I saw was somewhere in the middle of the building. The kitchen, living room, and bathroom were all downstairs. The floor plan was really open. There were some open steps leading up to a lofted bedroom. I don't know if the steps will be finished or if they are supposed to stay open. The openness made me feel a little nervous, like I would fall between the cracks to my doom on the concrete floors below. The bedroom area was just as open as the rest of the house. You wouldn't have a lot of privacy unless you put curtains up. If you're living alone, or just as a couple, which it seems is what the one bedrooms were designed for, I suppose you wouldn't mind the openness of the bedroom area too much. The cool thing about the bedroom is it feels like it's floating above everything else. I can only envision what the apartments will look like when they are completely finished. From what I saw, anyone would be lucky to live here. The whole place is sleek and modern. The layouts are snazzy. The light fixtures are suave. The bathroom showers are gianormous. But the selling point?: the glass wall(s). Awesome. The Jeffrey place will also have some convenience stores on ground level. There seems to be plenty of parking, and the apartments aren't far from downtown and the Short North at all. There are also plans for a bunch of gardens and greenspaces. While in the works, you can rent Jeffrey Place units to hold events. It seems strange, but I think it would be a really cool, different kind of party.

Raphael C.

Yelp
I've lived in the Metalworks building for two years now, and the reason I give it 3 stars is that the apartments here have terrible, TERRIBLE SOUNDPROOFING. This means that, if you don't want to know everything your neighbors say and do, this is probably not the place for you. It's no exaggeration: I've never lived in a place with such bad soundproofing. While noise from neighbors is an inherent fact of apartment living, this is no ordinary thing here at Metalworks. Basically, when your neighbor listens to music or when their dog barks, it's as if they were listening to music IN YOUR OWN LIVING ROOM and as if their dog was barking INSIDE YOUR APARTMENT. If you happen to have neighbors that enjoy loud music or that have a loud dog, then I'm sorry for you. Of course, no one will tell you this before you sign your lease. That's why I'm leaving this review here as a warning. Other than that, it's a pretty cool apartment building. But beware the freakishly thin and unsealed walls!

Jared B.

Yelp
I've lived @ "The Jeff" for over two years now and will admit, it's a great place to live. The office and maintenance crew are always on top of requests, especially Priscilla and Tina, and make living here great. It's only a 10 minute walk to all the restaurants, shops, and bars in the Short North. The rooftop view is incredible and gated secure parking lot is a major perk. There are organized amazing happy hours, resident appreciation weeks, and free coffee, pool table, tanning bed, and gym. I'd highly recommend checking a unit out with Rebecca, leasing agent, who's awesome, and making this your next home.

Mia N.

Yelp
Not a great experience at all! I am so upset and cannot wait until my lease is up! I will be on the first thing smoking!!! Here it is... I am law student and I moved from FL to OH in August 2015. I previously lived at the Abigail downtown and eventually desired to move out of the area. I contacted Tammy Pop to view Sixty Spring apartments. When I met her I just instantly clicked with her or so I thought. She then advised me about the other properties that CitySpace/JDS Companies managed. I saw a few apartments at the Jefferey and thought "meh I can deal with it" because I expressed to Tammy that "Customer Service" and "Good Management" is everything to me!!! She initially was very responsive and attentive "UNTIL" I signed the lease. Two months in I realized it was all for show. I slowly met other tenants who explained that they received different treatment after they signed their lease as well. Tammy was very responsive when it came to maintenance issues BUT that is the ONLY positive to living here. Maintenance works really hard and of course underpaid! I have a daughter and they always look out for her. The noise can get unbearable as the walls are thin. Nevertheless, I do not complain as what will really be done? Nothing. There are previous negative posts from years ago that I can wholeheartedly agree are absolutely still true. I signed a 9 month lease because they would not agree to do a 6 month lease. This review is the very reason why I wanted to do a short lease in case Tammy was full of Balogna! Well, I wanted to move after my lease was up but I graduated law school in less than 6 months. Unfortunately, it was hard to find a short-term lease. Moreover, the price that you pay is not worth it at all. If you can afford to live here you can definitely afford to live elsewhere that is a bit more upscale. i.e., Across the street in the Jeffrey Park where a couple of residents have moved. I have ALWAYS paid my rent on-time and was treated as if I did not. There is another leasing agent by the name of Rebecca who is not friendly at all towards brown people! Nevertheless, I just cannot seem to understand why these two just do not want to realize that this is why you cannot keep many people. Only a FEW choose to actually renew their leases. The MAJORITY of renters are fooled once and move when their leases are up. There are moving trucks so frequently in this apartment complex it is jaw-dropping. On-top of the fickle/unresponsive management, they definitely nickel and dime residents. I feel so sorry for people who come and actually enter a lease. Depending on your floor plan that will account for base rent THEN you have the extra...$25 a month to keep a washer/dryer in the apt, for you new renters you will now have to pay $90 to park on the Jeffrey's own parking lot??? luckily I do not have to pay that. There is basic cable, and the electric is through AEP its not more than $120 a month, decent. Additionally, my lights in my kitchen blew out that are in the ceiling and not in reach at all without ladder, I e-mailed Tammy about this and was told I had to pay $15 per bulb for a total of $45. I was shocked, did not see anything about that in the lease. (Although Tammy argued it is) HMMM...I do understand the charges because how else are you going to account for all the tenants that say "DEUCES" at the end of their lease? Further, the gates..Let's talk about that..They are broke 90% of the time. The exercising room..good luck..equipment is not in good shape. I do not complain and I pay rent before the 1st,..what else could you hope to get from a renter??? After all I do take full responsibility for this post because I do suffer from the "Keeping it Real Syndrome." Future renters: You guys were warned enter at your own risk! P.S. the Windows suck, good luck in the Winter months.

Bruce W.

Yelp
I waited to finalize the review until I moved out. I did not want to face problems. I moved into the Jeffrey with high expectations. I was told it is a luxury apartment. Unfortunately this is not the case. The building has a lot of exterior appeal. The unit was freshly painted and the carpet appeared clean. I did not have screens for my windows. I called several times to request screens and even emailed. It never happened. I made the mistake of opening my windows and getting lots of bugs and smelling my neighbors smoking. I complained about the smoking. Nothing happened. The walls are thin and you do hear your neighbors if they have dogs parking or loud music. I think this is to be expected with apartments. I had a few issues with the apartment. I did not find the property team management, which is not on site to be helpful. Numerous unreturned calls and voice mails. I agree with other reviewers who feel there was more attention before you sign a lease. The unit was not terribly warm. Luckily this winter has not been as cold as last and my windows didn't look like they had frost. It looks like they are trying to improve a few things with new paint. But it still seems worn down. The gym equipment is old and rusty. And there are not enough cardio machines if a few people are there at the same time. The deck is nice on the top. Forget grilling anywhere, it does not seem to exist. The people in the building are friendly. We do not have gatherings organized by the company. I don't care, I was not looking for this. It seems most people move on after a year, especially with other newer units across the street and in the area. Most feel it was live and learn experience. It is a nice area for walking to places. If you have other choices, consider them. This would not be my first, second or third choice for living in the area.

Donald W.

Yelp
I have been living here at the Jeffrey since December and I love it here. I haven't had any complaints. Management has been very understanding and responsive.

Martin R.

Yelp
I have been a pretty happy resident at the Jeffrey for a little over a year and a half. The building offers many great amenities, has responsive management, and a location that will prove to be very close to the heart of development in IV and the Short North. I've encountered many positives and a few negatives since move-in day. The positives: - The lobby area and rooftop deck are great amenities for guests. There are a few negatives about them, however. I'll share those later. - The true "raindrop" shower head in the bathroom. I miss it whenever I travel away and it's one of the first things I like about coming home. - An excellent massage therapist (Gina) who has a space set up in the basement for massages. There's nothing like walking from your apartment to a massage and coming back again to relax. - Management that is responsive ~97% of the time for repairs and other issues. Maintenance requests have been typically handled within 1 business day with an exception where a refrigerator required a part to be shipped. Issues with disruptive residents seem to be handled discretely and in a timely manner (with a few exceptions...see below). - In the past, Cityspace has had regular events (happy hours and mimosas once a month) for residents. There hasn't been a happy hour in over a year and Mimosa Sundays were recently ended due to "cost." The Negatives: - The punch list for my apartment at move-in was much longer and contained several major items that I would've expected to have been addressed prior to move-in for a location of this stature. Carpets were not cleaned, touch-up painting, cleaning and caulking was not done, and the dishwasher was not actually secured to the floor. The latter issue was immediately resolved and the others have been resolved as they come up or will be resolved at move out. The company was also in-between property managers when I moved in, which might have been an issue. - The ~3% of the time that management is not responsive. It sometimes takes several e-mails to get an issue addressed. There is a tenant with a loud barking, yapping dog in a very conspicuous apartment that has received numerous complaints from several different residents with no action on the part of management. - On long weekends the garbage chute tends to back up. - The rooftop deck was designed with built up cushions on most of the surface for residents to "lay out" instead of furniture. This makes hosting smaller get-togethers very awkward for seating. If I were the boss, I would tear them out and replace them with nice, heavy furniture. - See note above about drawing down of community events. This was billed as an amenity when I moved in and was a great way to get to know our neighbors. It is disappointing that such a small monetary investment in the resident experience should go away. Overall, I was glad I moved in and was not disappointed. The negatives mentioned above prevent a full 5 star rating and experience.

Yelp
I moved to the Metal Works building in the summer of 2013 after relocating to Columbus from Denver for work. I have lived in a fair share of apartments over the years and must say, this is the WORST property management company. I understand that when you rent, you have to deal with certain inconveniences such as thin walls and barking dogs but those were not my most serious complaints. I'll gladly list them out for those of you who are considering a move here. If you want to skip the essay below, my honest opinion is, if you like to party and don't care about having a management company taking care of you or taking pride in their property, don't care about being inconvenienced by loud neighbors or construction, and have a fairly large budget for rent, then the Metal Works may be a good fit. For me, I want to trust that my property management cares about me and makes an effort to add value. PRO: Walking distance to Short North. PRO: Basic cable is included in rent. PRO: The rooftop patio is a fun place to have drinks as it had a great view of downtown. CON: I live on the top floor so I have 17 foot ceilings. The windows here are so poorly insulated, I had ice freezing inside the house all winter. I am pretty conservative with my thermostat settings (69 in the winter and 72-74 in the summer). My power bills are consistently over $200/month. Not a property management issue, but just a serious thing to consider. Your advertised rent will be several hundred more than you anticipated when you consider all the other expenses. CON: Our neighbor had a bed bug infestation and a pretty serious one at that. I had a friend from out of town spend the night and she got bit several times. We found one of the bugs had made it into our place from under the wall. The property manager, who is extremely defensive and unresponsive, actually threatened me saying they would pay for an exterminator to come out but if we told anyone, they would hold us financially responsible. CON: There is one line of communication for residents. Don't try to call. Your calls will always go to voice mail and your only point of contact won't return them. I called twice and left messages about getting a W/D in my unit and when I followed up for the third time with email, I got an excuse that their phones have been down. Interesting, your phones have been down for a month? How do you do business with no phone? I won't dwell on how late the W/D unit was actually delivered...Our neighbor downstairs has had some recurring issues with water leaking into his unit. They don't care about the seriousness of that situation either. Their negligence is grounds for terminating a lease. CON: The property is advertised as being "pet-friendly." They have a couple dog stations where you can dispose of poo bags but they won't supply the bags for you. I have finished concrete floors so I know the dogs won't be damaging that. What is my pet rent covering exactly? Since we're talking about the property, I must say it is always in a state of disrepair. The pedestrian gate has been busted since we moved in. A neighbor brought that to the attention of the property management company and they said that security is "advertised" in the lease, but not guaranteed. I want these loopholes for my personal life! The elevator is broken once a week which isn't really a huge deal for me since I like taking the stairs but when you are moving heavy furniture, it gets to be an issue. There is a neighbor that lets their dog use the stairwell as a toilet and the property management didn't seem too concerned about that. Also the BBQ graveyard in the parking lot is a joke. If that's what they are advertising as the "communal courtyard" on the website, someone should be fired. A couple of shabby picnic tables in a corner of a parking lot with 6 rusty grills does not a courtyard make. CON: There is minimal storage. Not even a medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Very hard to keep your place looking organized when you don't have a single closet or pantry with a door and everything is exposed. Probably a good fit for a single guy who doesn't have a million shoes and make-up. It's been a struggle keeping myself organized here. CON: There is a gym although the equipment is not cared for. The treadmills are rusted out. I workout elsewhere. PRO: Emergency maintenance requests are addressed expeditiously. I had the heat go out on one of the freezing days we had last winter where the temp was -25F with wind chill. I turned on the oven when I got home from work to try heat the place while waiting on maintenance. He came within 1.5 hours. CON: No covered parking. CON: No parcel acceptance. CON: Not all the windows have screens so you if you want some fresh air, opening a window may not be the best idea unless you want the mosquitos to come in for a visit. That's the rundown of my year here. I promptly signed a lease elsewhere.

Yelp
I have lived at the Metalworks building (right behind Jeffery) for about a year now and I have immensely enjoyed the unique living spaces that that metalworks offers. The ridiculously high ceilings (20 ft or so), exposed I-Beams, and polished concrete floor, and huge windows give the space an incredibly open and spacious feel to them. This openness makes the apartments really easy to decorate and buy furniture for (I'm a guy so it doesn't come easily to me). I also had an incredible view of italian village and an old steel mill up until about a month ago when Battery B (another Jeffrey apartment place) started construction. I'll briefly list the things, I really liked about living here: 1). As mentioned earlier, you will be hard pressed to find a more scenic living space. 2). The shower head is amazing. It comes straight out of the ceiling. I find myself missing it when I'm away. 3). The security of the gated entrance as well as the fob entrance to building make living here very safe 4). The gym here gets a lot of hate but it isn't that bad. I usually work out somewhere else, but it's great if you're just trying to hit a 30 min workout or something. They also have a rowing machine which is great. 5). The other residents here are incredibly friendly and interesting people. 6). Although there are differing opinions below, I have found that management is generally responsive and helpful. 7). The bathroom is gorgeous. Especially the sink and sink counter. 8). Granite countertops in kitchen and beautiful wooden cabinets above the sink Some things to keep in mind before renting here: 1). Especially since the Jeffrey is pet-friendly (a RARITY now in apartment), it can get a little noisy. It took me about a month to adjust to the noise levels here while falling asleep. Running the fan on the AC Unit pretty much drowns everything out. I live on the 3rd floor so it could potentially be worse on second and first floor when you have people above you as well. 2). There is no covered parking and the parking spaces are very narrow. Not really a big deal unless you have a really nice car and don't want it to be exposed to the snow in the winter. 3). The power bills can get very expensive if you run the AC/Heat all the time since the ceilings are so high. However, if you only use your heat/AC when absolutely necessary, it's not that big of an issue. My power bills ranged from $80-$140 during my tenure here. 4). There is very little storage space in most of the units! Luckily, in the 3rd floor 1 bedrooms, you can put things on top of the bathroom. Also, the bathroom doesn't have any shelves which can be a problem (especially for females). I would not recommend a one bedroom for 2 people. It's just not enough space. 5). If you like to cook, there is not a whole lot of counter space. I would definitely buy a kitchen island with some stools (ikea has one that goes great with the cabinets). The only reason I am leaving is because my fiancee is moving up here this fall after we get married and I need a bigger space. I am sad to be leaving, but excited to start a new chapter of my life. I would highly recommend the jeffrey/metalworks especially to single young professionals.

Yelp
I looked at many apartments before choosing The Jeffrey. A safe area, gated parking and security fob system were some of the things that attracted me to The Jeffrey. Also Jenny, the leasing agent, was wonderful to work with and was so helpful throughout the process! The apartment itself is very nice, with high ceilings, wooden floors and granite counter tops. The location is awesome, I walk to the Short North restaurants, stores and bars and don't have to worry about parking! Everyone that I have come in contact with at The Jeffrey has been very helpful...Jenny and Tammy are the best! I would highly recommend The Jeffrey to anyone looking to live in the Short North/Italian Village area!

Yelp
I've lived at the Jeffrey for almost 2 and 1/2 years. It's been a very positive experience overall. I have a top floor unit, so it's a loft: the ceilings are vaulted and there's elements of industrial character, which I like. The location, close to Short North, is fantastic. I've had several maintenance issues through the years, and management has generally been very responsive. I have had more than one neighbor who likes to play music loud, sometimes quite late--the walls are by no means soundproof, but then it's apartment living, after all. But all in all, no regrets. It's been a good first home in Columbus!

Yelp
i moved to the jeffrey in the summer of 2010. i rented a beautiful/large 1 bedroom on the 2nd floor in the back corner of the building. little did i know that every night i would be "delighted" to the music from exile vibrating my bed, every morning i would be greeted with the bus announcement picking up outside of my window, & that with no true property manager on site, i would have multiple high-value packages stolen from my front door with no investigation from the building with so many "cameras" & such touted "security" amenities. out of convenience, when my boyfriend & i moved in together 2 years later, i thought moving to a larger unit on the other side of the building would help with the noise problems & i wrote the theft off as an anomaly. meanwhile: there are no screens so the apartment is a glorified greenhouse in the summer & in the winter there's no insulation so ice & frost forms on the panes & frames. the "gated" parking lot is continually broken & open for weeks at a time. and speaking of security, a man was sleeping in our hallway last week & i was told "he was a resident, don't worry about it." the neighbors' dog barks non-stop all night & day. with new construction taking place from 7am until 8 or 9pm 6 days a week the noise problem has changed & worsened (& there's no chance of that stopping in the near future with the multitude of projects going up out front). the first time the "property manager" even stepped foot in my unit was to show it to a girl & her mother unannounced after 6pm on a weeknight while i was cooking dinner... and, since giving our 60-day notice to vacate, there have been THIRTY TWO showings (sometimes up to 5 a day) & 3 instances where we've been told "this is the last time -- it's been rented!" only to have more showings booked for the following days. the jeffrey does not care about their residents, so if you're looking for a place that puts you first, don't look here. if you're looking for a place that has their residents' best interests at the top of mind, this isn't the place for you. if, instead, you're looking for a place that has morphed from a nice, professional home to a community of high-paying frat boys & party girls...welcome to the jeffrey.

Yelp
I've lived in the Jeffrey and the Metal Works. First, Rebecca is awesome! She is the leasing manager and she is very helpful with anything and if you have questions or concerns....love her. I don't think the walls in either place are any thinner than any other new construction apartment building. In the Metal Works you really can hear a lot, but it's because the units have concrete floors so all sound is going to bounce around. But I don't think it's more than any other 'loft' type place. The Jeffrey is a good place as well. The carpets are not so nice....but the rest of the apartment is great. I think maintenance is very helpful. If I see them and ask for anything they are quick to help out (I've asked for a little paint to do touch ups and asked to help put in light bulbs in high ceilings). The rent is no higher or lower than anyone else in the neighborhood. Yet the finishes are much better. I would agree that the barking dogs are annoying, but never annoying enough for me to call about them. The dog poo situation got out of control (people leaving it) but management was pretty on top of it with trying to find out who it was (which I think they did because it all of the sudden stopped). I think all in all both buildings are a great place, each with its own style (Jeffrey is wood floors, crown molding, carpet bedrooms...Metal Works REAL loft style with concrete floors and HUGE windows...not the fake 'loft' style others advertise). I hope they keep renting to young professionals and not very recent college grads so that the atmosphere of both places stays the same!
