12 Hottest Restaurants in Wilmington, North Carolina

"One of the newest additions to the Brooklyn Arts District, the Jelly Cabinet is a small-scale bakery that has been regularly selling out since opening this past July. The cinnamon rolls practically have their own fan club, and owner/baker Phillip Jones changes the flavor monthly. Depending on the day, the bakery case might also include savory biscuits, coffee cake, s’mores brownies, and slices of sheet cake (a recent iteration was a chocolate cake with dark cherry and pomegranate filling, a vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, and chocolate ganache.)" - Matt Lardie

Google
Genuinely one of THE best places in town. When you think of a small business that has genuine charm, you think The Jelly Cabinet. Not only are their pastries so incredible and memorable, their entire staff is so precious and FAMILY owned and run. I think about the cake I ordered from them almost daily. I cannot say enough good things about this place and the people that run it.

The Jelly Cabinet is absolutely worth the drive! We traveled all the way from Shelby for some sweet treats, and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully made. The quality and care that go into their baked goods really show. If you’re on the fence — make the trip, you won’t regret it!

I love visiting Jelly Cabinet every weekend! They always have a different selection, which makes every trip exciting. I especially look forward to seeing their Paris-Brest, corn cream puffs, and the many unique kinds of cakes they bring back — treats you don’t find at other bakeries around here. Their strawberry matcha and blueberry matcha drinks are also so refreshing and the perfect complement to their desserts. It’s a special place that keeps surprising me with new and delicious creations. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

I’ll start by saying that no matter which establishment has been based here, it always feels dark inside. It’s just not a place you want to be. I really think the interior could make the entire vibe better. I’ve been following Jelly Cabinet’s Instagram for a little bit now and was really excited to grab some of their fall goodies. Seeing everything online, it looks so appealing, but in person, it’s just a bit underwhelming — which is probably just the nature of food photography in general. My larger concern is purchasing baked goods that have been sitting/becoming hardened without being offered for them to be warmed — something even Starbucks does. I purchased the cheddar biscuit and pumpkin cinnamon roll and wholeheartedly believe they would’ve been better warmed up a little. Flavors were good but textures were not great because they were no longer warm. I’ve looked over other reviews and really don’t want a comment back from management or the owner saying that I (as the customer) should’ve voiced that concern during my visit when it should be offered by them. Update: After posting my initial review, the owner’s response really confirmed what I said — instead of simply acknowledging that warming baked goods could improve the customer experience (a pretty small and common-sense suggestion), they implied that my feedback was invalid because I already had “concerns before the purchase.” For clarity, my “concern” was about the interior lighting, not the product itself. I came in because I’d been following Jelly Cabinet and genuinely wanted to like it. I left feedback hoping it might help, not to be told I was unfair for sharing an honest experience. I stand by my review: the flavors were good, but textures suffered from not being warm — something easily fixable if they simply offered to heat pastries like most cafés do. A business that values feedback wouldn’t need to defend itself this hard over a suggestion that simple.

I've been seeing their cinnamon rolls all over online, instagram, twitter, and I finally came down to Wilmington so I had to stop by and it was worth the wait! Staff was nice and I got to meet the chef! He makes everything fresh and you can tell he puts lots of love into it. The cinnamon rolls sell out quick so I would go early if you have the time!

We have become frequent visitors of The Jelly Cabinet. Phillip’s food and pastries are to die for and keep us coming back to big our backs as much as possible. The biscuits are my favorites, especially the cheddar and chive one. The blueberry biscuit is incredible as well, I usually take it home and warm it up, but the staff and TJC family are more than accommodating and will warm it up for you there as well. My wife loves the cinnamon rolls and coffee cake, seeking out the different flavors TJC often releases. The story behind the bakery is touching and you can taste the generations of love in every single bite.

Google
Okay, so listen up, because I just found bakery heaven! Seriously, this place is off the charts. The moment you walk in, the smell of vanilla and cinnamon hits you like a warm hug. I grabbed a cinnamon roll, and it was perfectly flaky with rich, gooey icing . But the real MVP was the lemon bar. The crust was buttery and the filling was tart and sweet. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Ventured downtown to give this place a try . It was easy to find parking on the street and walked right in. It smelled absolutely wonderful, it was after 11:00 so there was not a lot left . The cinnamon bun caught my eye , it was enormous. The staff are super friendly and very fast to help you . I took my cinnamon bun to go , figured I'd share it since it was so large. It was perfectly cooked , nicely baked and not a ton of icing. The icing was very pleasant - not annoyingly sweet . The bun had great flavor , just the right amount of cinnamon on it . Definitely a place to go back to .

Yelp
What a great little bakery in the Brooklyn Arts District. They had a great combination of savory and sweet options. I got their Cheddar and Garlic biscuit, it was flakey, cheesy and packed with garlicky flavor. The Strawberry Nutella cinnamon was incredibly, it had a great balance to it and was not overly sweet, but just right. Will definitely be back to try out some more of their creations.

Yelp
My first visit to the Jelly Cabinet & I was so impressed! They had a great selection of both sweet and savory treats ranging from scones, to biscuits & cinnamon rolls. For the month of February they even had a few specials on rotation: strawberry biscuits & strawberry Nutella cinnamon rolls. I got the strawberry Nutella cinnamon roll & I must say it was delicious. The roll was layered with strawberry jam and topped with the perfect amount of cream cheese. All while not being overly sweet. Looking forward to coming back and giving the blueberry biscuits a try.

Yelp
Food at The Jelly Cabinet is fabulous and very creative! Some of it looks like pictures in a magazine! I've always had great customer service and the ambiance is quaint and charming! It exudes a feeling of warmth and coziness like a grandmother's kitchen! Give it a try and you won't be sorry!

Yelp
Great cinnamon roll, nice and fresh. The roll was soft and fluffy, and the icing not too sweet, which is a big plus for me. Coffee was nothing special, just your average cup-o-joe. They had other bakery items that definitely looked worth a try!

Yelp
Tried the feta and Havarti biscuit, blueberry biscuit, and cinnamon rolls. They were all great. Biscuits were buttery and soft. Cinnamon roll was soft with a good amount of cream cheese frosting. Besides the baked goods, beverage options were hot coffee, Vietnamese iced coffee, lemonade, or iced green tea. Got the Vietnamese iced coffee, which was not very good, but nice try.

Yelp
I had an adorable and delicious heart-shaped strawberry scone here. It was so tasty, I bought one for a friend. The place is cute as a button and service is top-notch!

Yelp
This was my first visit to TJC and I was not disappointed by the offerings. My friends and I got cheddar biscuits and they were so good. The staff is friendly and we were helped rather quickly. The shop is a small shop but it's quaint and the workers/owners(?) were happily serving us and others.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic little spot! We can't wait to go back! We came here late Saturday morning, around 11am and they had cinnamon rolls, yeast rolls, savory scones, apple betty, blueberry scones... and more! All still in stock! Blueberry scone wasn't too sweet which I appreciate. Very good and fresh tasting blueberries. Savory Scone - This was also fantastic, perfect consistency and great flavor. We loved it. Apple Betty - this was the highlight! It was SO SO good and they mentioned it is seasonal so get in there and get at least one if not two of these! They have plenty of seating inside, plenty of street parking and the service was impecable! They were so sweet!

Yelp
I couldn't decide so I took one of almost everything. My favorites were the coffee cake, cinnamon roll and the chocolate espresso cupcake.

Smells sooo good and tastes so sweet and delicious first thing in the morning! Cozy place to start your day!!

Yelp
Came from Leland for the famed Cinnamon Rolls on Father's Day. Had to choose between classic and honey cornmeal. Chose both (along with a blueberry biscuit and a bourbon caramel chocolate cupcake). Absolutely incredible! No longer need to drive to Myrtle Beach for Cinnabon on my birthday and Father's Day.

Yelp
Great new spot for delicious baked goods. We tried a biscoff cinnamon roll, cheddar cheese biscuit, blueberry biscuit, key lime cookie and watermelon lemonade. All were amazing! I could eat the cheddar biscuit everyday!!! Yum!

Yelp
We were in town for work and when visiting a new city we love to find locally owned businesses to try. Well we started searching for bakeries and were not coming up with a lot of places. I was searching instagram and came across The Jelly Cabinet. I am so glad we did. We read the story of how the bakery came about and were just thrilled to try it. The cinnamon rolls were calling us from the moment we saw them on social media. We were waiting in the parking lot for them to open. The bakery is delightful and inviting. The cinnamon rolls are simply amazing. They are not too sweet and the frosting is perfection. If you are in the area, please pay them a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Well worth the visit. Brought back home a box of baked goods and everyone was thrilled. Local gem. Service was great and I love the location in the Brooklyn arts district.
