My Favorite Airbnb: A Dreamy Desert Retreat Near Arizona's Saguaro National Park | Condé Nast Traveler

"Posada by the Joshua Tree House came about when husband-and-wife team Sara and Rich Combs discovered a dilapidated series of buildings on the edge of Saguaro National Park, which they believe had previously been used to house staff of the nearby Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Despite the fact that some of the structures were missing walls and roofs, they purchased the land with hopes of creating their second retreat (the first is a two-bed, two-bath home in Joshua Tree National Park also available on Airbnb)."

Truly one of the best properties we have stayed at. The property was beautiful and nicely curated. The rooms were comfortable and well laid out! The area around the property gives you the opportunity to hike around and enjoy the Saguaros as well. We really enjoyed our trip!

So perfect. My second stay at the inn, this time with the love of my life. My husband had never seen the AZ desert and I knew this would be just the spot for the best intro. Count on JTH to have the most thoughtful amenities and stylings in the most authentic tucson way. I absolutely love this place and it is so special to me. I work in interior design and I have so many clients bring inspiration photos I recognize immediately being from JTH…. this place is magical. Courtney the inn keeper is very accommodating and generous- they truly want you to have the most relaxing time. The new bath house was a perfect treat for us… we loved it so much we ended up dipping in the canyon pool followed up by the hot spring later to relive that invigorating feeling! I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone that needs a reset, looking forward to visiting future JTH projects as well :)

The most dreamy desert getaway- we stayed in the Agave Suite which had a comfortable patio for watching the sunset and enjoying early morning coffee. We appreciated the kitchen in the room, the comfortable bedding, the clean bathroom with nice finishes and the overall relaxing vibes of the property. Already looking at future dates when we can return! Recommend reserving the bath house- doing a sauna and cold plunge treatment in the relaxing space was perfect, wish our stay was longer!

The JTH Tucson is the most perfect desert retreat - we loved our stay so much. We stayed at the JTH Agave Suite in late May and were able to catch many of the cactus blooms (especially the beautiful Saguaro). Even when the inn was full, it still felt very private as we did not run in to many others on the property - many nights, we had the hot springs all to ourselves. One of my favorite things at the inn was the scrapbook outlining the history of the property and how Sarah & Rich transformed it in to what it is today. Every space is beautiful and cozy, and the views from the property are unmatched. The inn is right outside Saguaro National Park, so a short car ride to hikes with amazing views. We couldn't recommend it more, and we're planning to stay at the Joshua Tree location in the future.

My husband and I came here for a little staycation. The room was absolutely beautiful, I loved having floor to ceiling windows to watch the desert storms roll in during the evenings. The grounds are really well kept and beautiful! Cooking in the community kitchen was really cool, I felt like the host of my own cooking show with how pretty the kitchen was. Would stay here again!

We booked an overnight stay to attend a spiritual pottery retreat which included a pottery class, gourmet dinner, and a meditative sound bath. Each of these individual experiences were very rewarding but in tandem had the effect of making you forget about your day to day and focus inwards on yourself. Besides the natural beauty of the desert, the Posada with its adobe architecture and manicured gardens seemed like an oasis in the desert. For me, this was truly a unique experience, not to mention the witnessing of a rare aura effect in the night sky during our meditative sound bath.

I had an amazing time at this place! Usually hotels and inns look better in pictures but this place exceeded my expectations. I stayed in the Creosite suite. I overpacked and brought a lot of stuff, but my suite had everything I needed. There were plates, cooking utensils, all the bathroom supplies I needed, etc. My suite also had a kitchen and private patio. My first night we have a private chef cook for us (which I totally recommend!) and the second night, we used our kitchen and ate in our private patio. The private patio made us feel so relaxed and fancy. Even if you get one of the suites that doesn't have a kitchen or patio, they have a community kitchen you can use and a few locations to eat your dinner at. Most places are 30 minutes away so you'll want to either cook or book a private chef meal. I felt so refreshed after leaving this place. It was quiet so I felt like I was the only one there and the scenery was so beautiful. I loved using the hot springs after a long day of hiking and just sitting in one of their many locations to soak in nature. The beds were extremely comfortable. So comfortable, I'm looking to buy the stuff they had! I also loved the way everything smelled. And you guessed it, I am also looking to buy the diffusers they had. It was great a time at the JTH and I definitely recommend it!

A few hours before my checkout and I am sad to leave. I met the beautiful owners on Sunday where you can tell through this inn that they poured their hearts & souls into. Beyond the photos, this place is breathtaking! I stayed in the Saguaro Suite with privacy, an amazing view of the sunset, and gorgeous view for stargazing! As a solo traveler, I felt safe and at peace here. I don't usually say I would re-stay at places. But this one, I would book again. The grounds and room were clean. The aesthetics of this inn aligns with the Saguaro National Park. I felt like I was in another time. Even though it is off the beaten path, if you are looking for quiet, time to reconnect with self or someone, this place is for you. Please note: ¹An AWD vehicle is recommended. ²Restaurants & stores are about 25+ minutes away. ³Plenty of areas to hike. Or stay at the inn and relax.
