Yelp
There are probably 2 kinds of people who will visit here:
1) those who think Jamba Juice is healthy and thus expect fresh juice & smoothies to taste like the sugar-laden crap you get at Jamba, Smoothie King, et al. These people will miss the sugar high and probably complain.
2) those who understand how real, fresh juice & healthy smoothies are supposed to taste (and also how great they are for you). These people will rejoice.
Thankfully I graduated from camp #1 years ago and bought my first masticating juicer last year. I can't tell you how great you'll feel after having a fresh pressed juice, especially when it's done well. Dallas has sorely lacked a place like this for years so I'm happy there is finally somewhere to go if you don't have the proper equipment, are running about town and need a healthy pick-me-up or like me, have moved away and are home visiting and need your green juice fix.
I flew home to Dallas last week to have a rather invasive surgery and decided that pre and post op I would do a juice cleanse to repair the trauma my body would undergo and to help speed the healing process afterward. I stockpiled several cold-pressed (bottled) juices for a couple of days and my hubby and friends brought me more juice after my surgery, so I've had the chance to try quite a few of them. My favorite is the Skinny Greens. I could drink it all day. I also like the Hottie & Green Detox. The C-blast is good but too 'orangey' for me, despite it being perfectly green in color. I guess the color throws me off and I expect it to be more veggie tasting. If you love fresh orange juice you'll like that one...don't let the green color fool you, you won't taste the kale at all.
Smoothies & Snacks: I've only had the opportunity to try the Peanut Butter Cup smoothie and it was delish. Opposite the counter (on the shelves) are some lovely raw snacks, including those from Hail Merry. I got a bag each of the Strawberry and the Caramel Sea Salt macaroons...so f'ing good. If you're having one of those days where you want to eat an entire cake get a bag of these instead. Thank me later.
Overall, I love their selection and the fact that they make every combination taste great...some places I've been to just don't get the veggies to fruit ratio right or add way too much ginger and you end up leaving with a puckered lip and a bitter taste in your mouth. The Juice Bar does a great job with their menu and I will continue to stockpile their juices on my visits home to you know, balance out the obligatory trips to Mi Cocina and Chuy's.
Please don't compare this place to Jamba Juice or other 'smoothie' places...they aren't even close to being in the same category, both in taste or health value. If you want a sugar rush, by all means head to Jamba. If you want to do something good for your health, swing by this place instead.
Oh, and a tip...it's behind the Inwood Theater so you won't see it from the street.
