The Jungle Music Venue Opens in Somerville With Food, Drinks, Cycling | Eater Boston
"A live music venue in Somerville’s Union Square aims to fit quite a few roles when it opens Friday, May 10: “Concerts. Cycling. Cocktails. Community. Stop Choosing.” Located at 6 Sanborn Ct. (behind the Independent and across from Bronwyn’s beer garden), The Jungle was designed by owner and manager Sam Epstein to accommodate music performances, dining and drinking, community events, and cycling classes in which participants ride as a live band performs. Beverage options include beer, a small selection of wines, and a large cocktail list with “covers” — classics like gimlets, margaritas, and Manhattans — and “originals” such as the dirty water (apricot brandy, gin, grenadine, and lemon juice) and the queen of hearts (Bulleit rye, mezcal, pomegranate juice, lime, chile pepper, and a sugar rim). The food menu features wings, tater tot nachos, hummus and veggies, a turkey club, a veggie burger, Buffalo chicken grilled cheese, and salad. Programming includes cycling classes during cover band performances on Mondays and Thursdays, open mic nights on Wednesdays, group music lessons on Sundays, and, after 8 p.m., a shift into a more traditional rock club with local band lineups; the 21-and-up venue has an 85-person capacity, doors open at 8 p.m. and live music begins at 9 p.m. on opening night with Major Moment, Exit 18, and Tzivia & the band Vú, and a full calendar is available on its website." - Dana Hatic
