How to Help: Fight Hunger and Support Local Restaurants in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"A mobile food pantry and nonprofit focused on delivering groceries and support directly to families, children, and seniors; it claims to distribute more than 250,000 pounds of food monthly (reaching over 13,000 people with fresh groceries) with no requirements to be served, runs popup delivery events with volunteer help, and directs a high percentage of funds raised toward direct assistance (reported at about 90.81 percent)." - Susan Stapleton

This was my first time volunteering and I loved it! The staff is amazing, the volunteers are so kind and being able to give back to a place that gives my family food is the best thing in the world.

This review is not related to the work they do in the community which is wonderful, it is related to the fact that once you set up a recurring donation you cannot cancel it. They don’t answer emails and I spent months of doing charge backs on my credit card after trying to get someone on the phone. I finally got through to someone and they assured me I wouldn’t be charged anymore. Well, here we are and there is another charge. If you want to donate I beg you to do it on a month to month basis. This is a hard lesson for me to learn.

Wow I am so reminded I am where I am at my own doing. The hardest part of asking for help is asking for help. If I don't acknowledge my part I can not change any of it. The people here gave me such respect and kindness I was able to do this easily. I'm grateful for any amount of food or help for the things I do not have. I hope your workers tell their children or other family members "I helped another human today!" The world is hard today and the Charity work you do is some light in the dark! I am shocked at any negative comments I see. Someone said a vegetable was bruised. They must not be that hungry! Back in my day I trimmed the bad and ate the rest....still add a little water in the milk if needed! Lol Thank you for your work it's important you know❤️

I waited in mine today for 2 and a half hours watches over 40 cars cut the line to get to the front and see huge pallets and boxes of canned goods fresh foods asked how many are in my household in which there’s 6 2 adults 4 kids and they have me a 6 pack of soda flour Vienna sausages bacon and peanut butter 2 rice a roni type little packages. no canned goods no fresh foods no milk no eggs literally made me cry I wasted gas time and for not even one meal to put together for a family of 6 while I watched everybody else walking away with boxes cart full of groceries trunks being filled And I got a grocery bag of nothing. I probably used more money in gas than what I even got in groceries. Very sad and disappointing

Can get a food box once a month with dairy items, protein like a full chicken or catfish, fresh produce, snacks, and pantry staples! Love the Just One Project!

As a senior on a fixed income, I was so happy to be introduced to the Just One Project. For 6 months I was able to choose from a variety of healthy foods in their shopping market on Decatur, once a month. I am so grateful for their help.

The food giveaway on Saturday at the DHRC was disastrous. The staff move the line which caused several cars to lose their space. Very disorganized and the lady checking in cars was skipping cars which I found to be very rude and unprofessional. This staff does not really care, just mulling people through s line. Would not recommend .

Yelp
I am so appreciative of everything they do for the whole community. Every worker and every volunteer is so kind, so pleasant and so caring.

Yelp
The Just One Project is currently doing emergency food distributions Monday through Friday at their headquarters due to the pause in SNAP benefits. I did a volunteer shift last week, helping to distribute food to recipients who drove up. There was already a line of cars that snaked outside of the parking lot and down Decatur. The folks working here have a great system going, with check-in for volunteers, name tags, and then assignments handed out. There were tents set up in the parking lot already with the products to be disbursed at stations. Volunteers were assigned to a station and put the food in the cars as they stopped at each station. There were two lines of cars, one on each side of the tents, with volunteers to hand out food on each side. I worked alongside some great people and look forward to helping out again. Sign up on their website if you want to lend a hand.

Yelp
Berl W. I am very grateful to The Just One Project and its courteous staff in providing assistance in supplementing my groceries monthly. I do not know all the names; however, I am extremely appreciative of the understanding, compassion and caring shown by Josh in this time of need.

Yelp
Yet again, a great customer service. Thank you to Mrs. Ana Cruz thank you for all you do. Thank you for answering my questions, thank you for educating me about my options, thank you for thanking me for my service.. it means a lot to me. Ana Cruz is a great representative of a great organization

Yelp
I have been using this food drive for a few years. Lately, it has gone downhill. The zucchini is always wilted & banana squash turning brown. They give out the same stuff every month. Not going back.

Yelp
In reference to the Pop up&give mobile market event Oct. 19, 2024 Saturday 8:30a.m. at Spring Valley High School, I was dropped off by ADA Paratransit at 7:30a.m and stood in line for the walk up food distribution line. I waited until It was time. The staff prioritized the extremely long lines of vehicles that wanted free food. By the time they got around to attending to me,they had "Crumbs" and gave me less than the ones ahead of me were getting in the car as well as in line walk up. When I asked for more I was denied and rejected stating there are long line of cars to give yet, but shouldn't they give to me first quality&more instead of saving it for the long lines of cars? They can always say they are running out and stop the cars from lining up instead of limiting and rationing my share while I stood there waiting for my turn as well. You ought to be fair. I also have to wait to be picked up by ADA Paratransit to take me back home so I need to get done promptly without wasting precious time. Please consider this the next time I go to Spring Valley High School on November 16, 2024 Saturday 8:30a.m. (I will be there at 7:30a.m. in line at walk up line on food distribution line.

Yelp
I started volunteering here last year and I had an amazing time. The first time I volunteered we got to bagged food for the families that are in need. There was so much food to bag and it was so much fun. I was impressed by how many volunteers were there and how well the staff took care of the volunteers. I then got to volunteer on a Saturday for people to drive up and receive food from The Just One Project. It was so organized and I had a great time doing it. I appreciate this organization so much and I just want to say thank you for all you do for our community of Las Vegas. Keep up the great work.

Yelp
We have volunteered for just one project many times but I think ppl should know just how kind and organized they are. It's easy to find a place to join in and feel like you are helping. There are pop ups to volunteer for, grocery deliver, help with grocery packing, etc. inlovevthatvtgwy have a grocery store for those in need to shop for and that people have no need to feel embarrassed when they come in need.

Yelp
Came here to volunteer and help out. I love how the founder is awesome and told me the stories of how they became. It's crazy how they all started from the back of her trunk to where they are at now. It's great to see that they are doing the best to help the communities! I want to take my daughter and have her volunteer to teach her a thing or two! Everyone was so nice here!

Yelp
I found this place by accident because they do monthly foodbanks. They do monthly foodbanks and 10 different locations (might be more). They always have a wide variety of food. I've been to their location several times but had to stop because it doesn't match my work schedule. This organization is ran by a bunch of bad a^% women who want to give back to the community.

Yelp
I applied for rental assistance because I am about to be homeless and on the streets. I rent a small trailer from a private homeowner. I have lived here six years and 2 years ago I was diagnosed with late onset muscular dystrophy. So, I have not been able to work. I was born and raised in Nevada and have worked my entire life. The Just One Project is ridiculous in the documentation they require. I was denied because my 80-year-old landlord does not have a w-9. They are helping and funding business' but not people. They also asked for a copy of my most recent tax filing which should be against the law. Taxes are very private to the person that filed and should not be shared with anyone. Super nice staff, Yes. Too bad they are not motivated to help people. Thanks for requiring ridiculous documentation and not helping to keep people off the streets of Las Vegas.

Yelp
I always wanted to volunteer and I found this place. I went there a couple of months ago and I was pretty upset. It was more like a kids playground. It was full of moms and kids, very very young kids from 2 to 5 I'll say . I love kids, sorry but they were not helping at all. The moms were just watching their kids and not helping. I was the only one and one more lady carrying all the heavy boxes of potatoes, tomatoes, and doing all the work. Kids and moms were in the middle of everything just not helping. I left after an hour, I couldn't take it . I wish you guys have a minimum of age to go volunteer . So everyone is helpful.

Rex D.

Yelp
After having my own non profit for over 12 years, I started looking for a similar rewarding challenge! After making smiles for kids all those years I am now making smiles for the less fortunate that need food! : ) Although there are many opportunities to volunteer, I chose the contact a friend and deliver the food to those in need! Please go to their web site: thejustoneproject.org and check it out!"
