14 New York Bars Where You Can Watch Football | Eater

"This midtown joint is a staple for anyone looking for a vibrant, energetic setting for game day — thanks to screens that are visible from every angle and a crowd that knows how to keep the excitement high. Whether you’re stopping by for a cocktail or sticking around for a full spread of game-day bites, The Keg Room has you covered. The drink list is as extensive as the playbook, and the food menu mixes pub classics with hearty favorites (order the fried chicken sandwich and thank us later). This is where football season really comes to life in the heart of Manhattan." - Julia Gómez Kramer

Google
A ton of TVs here. Wide ranging list of beers. Has a cocktail menu. Got the turkey BLT, was pretty good, what you would expect from a midtown Irish pub. Service was on top of things. Huge space. Wraparound bar. Tons of seating.

Google
Basically just an Irish pub. I ordered the basic burger and found it way overpriced for what it was. I asked for medium-rare, but what I got was closer to well-done—and the whole thing was dry and underwhelming. If the beef had been more succulent, it might’ve worked, but overall it was painfully mediocre. I also tried one of their pricier IPAs, which ended up tasting like the most generic IPA imaginable. Disappointing across the board.

Google
The Keg room was a good experience. The food was different from what I am use to from the South but was good. The drinks definitely was different but were good. Love the atmosphere; it was the NFL playoffs and we had a great time!

Lee Kandt

Google
All around enjoyable bar. I think places should give seat preference when you make a reservation. Kind of stuck in a corner. Food was good, cocktail was average but the beer was cold and fresh. Decorated nicely for the holiday. Great place to watch a game with a lively crowd.

Google
Great sports bar next to our hotel. Went there nearly every night to get a cooooold beer. The barkeeper always rembered us. Have been here again on our latest trip and watched the NFL Draft. Still love the bar. Had some ice cold Yueling Yueling and great food. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and my girlfriend got an the keg room classic burger. Would definitely come again next trip.

Google
Been living in the area for a while; finally decided to try a “new” place. I felt warmly welcomed by the atmosphere as soon as I walked in. The bartender, Megan, greeted me And took my order right away with a smile. The drinks, food and service were extremely Pleasing. I will definitely be back. Thank you, Megan!

Google
We all had enormous salads, which were formidable but not new. Everyone was kind and helpful, and the restrooms had clean sinks with excellent lighting for applying lipstick. The traditional and Irish burgers were both excellent. The house salad and grilled apple salad were both delicious.

Google
Were in NY for a vacation so 1st visit to The Keg Room. I had a fantastic Cajun Chicken Salad and wife described her chicken casadilla as the best she's ever had. Generous portions & both were delicious. Service was great.

Yelp
Came in to waste some time, nice looking sports bar with lots of space. Bartender was friendly and got my drink order quickly. Food looks but only had a beer. Guinness is one of the better spots but pricey compared to other spots.

Yelp
Came here for a late night dinner. And there's a Knicks game on so of course it's loud and crowded. But the food was delicious and the service was excellent. The ambiance of course is crazy because of the game but being here with my fiancé is a once in a lifetime experience. Glad I came with him. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone whoever stays in NYC. Two thumbs up

Yelp
Keg Room was a great spot to duck in & grab a hot drink when it's freezing out. Hot Toddies & Irish coffees hit the spot! Good service! Hope to go back!!

Allison S.

Yelp
Rude bouncer at door. Also times on google are wrong. If I could rate it zero stars I would.

Margaret R.

Yelp
This was by our hotel, so we stopped in for some nachos and beers. We sat at the bar and watched various sports on the tvs. The nachos were average, but the service was friendly and attentive. It just felt welcoming and comfortable - I'd return.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while looking for a bar to drink at before a Mets game. The place is a good size and has alot of offer for drinks and food. The bar tender Jeff was amazing! He was very friendly and even told us their radio system wasn't working so it was his playlist on the speakers and it did not disappoint ! Their buffalo chicken flatbread was a hard 10/10 - sooo good! Would definitely recommend and return !

Yelp
Very great bar. Excellent service had the cheese & tomato pizza excellent a lot of cheese. Will go back again very cold day so enjoyed a lovely Irish coffee

Yelp
Came in here a long while back while I was dealing with a billing discrepancy issue in midtown. Stepped inside of here after it was resolved and had a few drinks. Their happy hour I remember was solid and hopefully still something similar. I think however it keeps changing because they do weekly specials with all day deals. They had a limited time specials menu going on with Select drafts being: $7, Select bottles/cans: $5, and wine $9 with a few cocktails around $12-13. I think I mixed things up with a draft and a few $5 cans of dos equis. Service was pretty good for it being a packed bar and I think a holiday party was going on as well. They have a type of beer on draft literally for everyone. Huge selection. I'd totally come back if in the area.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite and an ice cold brew, not disappointed! In fact service was fast and the room was great. Ordered the steak sandwich with fries. It was flavorful and worth every cent! Nate our waiter was also very efficient. Serving up the tequila and beer. Always came by to check on us. He was a gem. Definitely recommend you sit in his area ambiance was a bit loud but hey it's football Sunday so what do you expect. Let's get loud and have a good time! Thanks Nate!

Robert F.

Yelp
Food was ok at best. Chicken tenders stringy and tasty undercooke. quesadillas not much better. Server befuddled when we sent food back. Ambiance was nice though.

Anne Marie H.

Yelp
Went to the Keg Room for dinner before a show & had the most amazing fish & chips - highly recommend this dish. The service was attentive, with satisfying responses when we asked for recommendations. We relaxed & enjoyed our wine in a lovely atmosphere with no one rushing us out the door. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Atmosphere was great for the 2nd game of the conference finals here in NY. The food was decent, but nothing special. However, it was some of the worst service I've ever had. Not too far removed from the restaurant industry, I understand how it can be, especially when it's as busy as it was last night, but this was unacceptable. Our server smelled of BO, which was extremely unpleasant to begin with. He came & checked in on our table every 20 minutes, if that, & was rude when he did. We even started ordering drinks from the bar, thinking that would make his life easier, since he seemed to be so busy. But the next thing I know, the check is on the table, & he brought his manager over to tell us we can't stay because that's the server's table & we aren't ordering from him. When I complained about how poor our service was, the manager was rude & not understanding at all. We still stayed at our table for the 4th quarter, but unfortunately they automatically added 18% gratuity, so we couldn't leave zero tip like this server deserved. Will not be going back here; don't waste your money here.

Yelp
Extremely rude service. First off, all the glasses our beer was served in were very sticky and gross... not sure why. A friend of mine and I had ordered several drinks and had just finished them, set them aside and were sitting on chairs by the front of the bar. An older server that looked about 50-60 came over and tells us that we need to order more drinks or we need to "get the hell out of here" in his exact words. I could not believe what I had heard.... Reading these 1 star reviews, I'm actually not surprised that's just how they speak to their customers. I personally would not give them any more business and it will be the very last time here.
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance great for game day. Lots of tvs! Food wasn't too bad! I enjoyed my steak sandwich and my husband his burger. I'd like to give 3.5 stars because for a place that says 50 beers on tap...every one I ordered was out. I went through 4 beers. Ended up with their own Keg Lager. The ladies bathroom was clean and very nice. I'd stop here again next time we're in the city!

Yelp
Came in Saturday night with a big group. Very spacious space with lots of TVs. We got happy hour deals which is very rare for Manhattan on a Saturday night. Service was great and quick. No complaints, had a good time.

Yelp
It's a great vibe. Fantastic local beer. Extremely friendly bartenders. What's not to like?
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
I'm giving them 4 stars because of their COVID-19 setup. We chose to eat here because Keg Room was the only place that actually fully adhered to the outdoor dining rules. While they did have one wall, the outdoor structure had a full open side and dividers between tables. We opted to sit on the sidewalk as it wasn't raining so didn't need to be in the structure. While we were a bit surprised by the disposable utensils and setting, the food changed our minds. The fish & chips was tasty and the tartar sauce was really good! They didn't have malt vinegar but hey it's 2020.
google avatar

Randy C.

Yelp
Lots of good. Some bad. Ordered the nachos which were not good. The chips were not crispy and ended up being chewy. The wrap was GREAT! The fries are an 8/10 and the French Onion Soup slayed. We ordered a bucket of Bud Light, 6 for $36. Service was a little slow but attentive. Would recommend if you're watching a game but not if you were coming just for dinner.

Yelp
In NYC for a few days, staying nearby & our concierge suggested the Keg Room for dinner. Glad she did! PRO- Great beer selection (see photo of great beer below), lots of TV's, big bar & well priced menu made this a hit for us. I had a terrific Caesar Salad with their Cajun chicken on top. It was huge & had plenty of dressing. I don't usually rave about salads but I really enjoyed this one. Ward had the salmon, pic below & it was the wonderful too. Not too loud to talk & we had a very attentive waiter. CON- Not a great wine selection but lots of beer & mixed drinks. SO- If you are in the area in NYC (checking out the Empire State Building perhaps?) stop by the Keg Room for a cold one & a good meal.

Yelp
Nothing to write home about, but if you need a bar that you can get into and actually get seated and have a drink, this is your spot. My group of 4 stopped at so many other places on a Friday night before we found this bar. Not surprising, but many bars are full on a Friday night with hour waits. You usually have luck with Irish pubs - hah. This place was a breath of fresh air to actually get in and seated. Nice people, quick service, decent food. Keep this place in your back pocket.

Yelp
This was the first place we ate after a long day of traveling. Definitely the place to go to watch sports on the big screen(s). Good beer and a Cheers atmosphere inside. Portion size was perfect, and they had my wifes favorite beer - Weihenstephan, which is from the oldest brewery in Germany. Wife had the fish and chips, and really liked them. I had the celtic burger. It was good, but I believe it was the bacon, wasn't to my liking. Overall, I would definitly recommend The Keg Room, and would come back on our next visit.
google avatar

Richard G.

Yelp
Very good sports bar with awesome selection of draft beers. Classic bar menu with Irish offerings as well. Really great barbtenders and support staff. Wings were delicious and I always order them extra crispy. Spot on!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
Good bar with a large selection, however they were out of both my and my friend's different first choice drinks. There is lots of room inside and a wide variety of seating. Food was fine. Perfect for an easy, casual, night out.

Yelp
First of all, this is a huuuuge venue! The layout is a big rectangle, with an also rectangle shaped bar in the middle of the room. Prices for cocktails and frozen were in the $14-17 range, beers were in the $8-11 range -- pretty in line with NY expectations. I tried the cherry sour beer, which was pretty good! Didn't taste like cherry in a medicinal way. Music was predominantly 2010s pop/top 40. Lots of huge TV screens throughout the bar. Nice bartenders! My male bartender accidentally charged me for 4 beers instead of 2 but I was able to get it fixed with another woman bartender.

Gary S.

Yelp
The shepherds pie is the best I've had. My wife got a salad that was both plentiful and well put together. Service was a bit lacking. If I wanted a refill of drink I had to ask several times. Atmosphere is good, a nice place to watch the game.
google avatar

Casey L.

Yelp
We enjoyed the French onion soup. Bottled beer wasn't cold at all... kinda didsapointed

Yelp
Been here about four times in the last nine day, you will not find any better in New York great service, drinks and food

David S.

Yelp
This place used to be the place to go on 36th st. No more. Terrible food and even worse service. Told the server we were unhappy with the food and service and she told me to "go to hell." Any restaurant or bar that employs people that speak to customers in such an unprofessional manner should be closed. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
We went to Keg room since it was quite close to our hotel. We were family of 4. Ordered pasta, chicken quesadilla, steak fajitas and chicken tenders. The pasta and quesadillas and fajitas were really good. Service was quick, the tables had plexiglass separators. The second time we went there ordered ribs -- those were really really good. And also a chicken wrap -- that was really good too. Friendly staff and clean tables. Reasonably priced with a large menu choices of lots of favorites. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Awesome food. The fish and chips are delicious! Generous portions. Sheppards pie is meaty with fluffy taters Nachos good for NY! The Salmon salad is tasty and perfectly cooked salmon!!

Yelp
We decide to come here this year for St Patty's so I'd figured it was time for an update! St Patty's this year felt like a whole different type of mood, We didn't want to go too far but wanted to enjoy the day since it's been 2 years since it's been celebrated! We stopped by after work & the place was crazyyy , jammed packed but not to the point where people were on top of each other still enough room, we settled right upfront by the bar area. Drinks we tried the carlsberg beer & stuck w this one for the night , not bad at all nice beer good taste ... quite the buzz by the end of the night! Irish bombs were flowing during the night! Food wise we got the Chicken sliders minus the bacon , totally hit the spot w fries very tasty! Nice to see the city being back to "normal" or at least pre COVID times ... they offered beer & food specials for the day, we had a good time. Nice big place , decent prices & good service I'd decided to up the stars since , so far I've never had a bad time here!!

Yelp
Massive one level pub with a wrap around bar and a noise level that is above normal in terms of decibels. Don't expect to have a quiet conversation here. Visited last night (also had dinner at The Keg Room a couple years ago) around 6:30 PM and the place was already crowded. Table service is reserved for those ordering food, otherwise--for drinks, it will be a seat at the bar. The atmosphere was cute with Celtic décor and a sports bar feel---many large screens adorned the walls. Staff was helpful and we were immediately sat towards the back of the restaurant. Service was also satisfying with wait staff checking periodically for when we were ready to order food as well as frequent water refills. Happy hour was in full swing and we both opted for their Pinto Grigio at $7.00. A red blend was the other wine option. As far as beer and cocktail specials, I don't have information to offer. Food. We kept it simple but note, the menu was very diverse and offered appetizers, sandwiches, salads, traditional Irish fare, flatbread/pizza, burgers and entrees. We decided to go with one of their flatbreads--the Dragon Fire. In addition, I was in the mood for fries and our waitress suggested to go with the curly, seasoned fries. The Dragon Fire flatbread was sufficient for two with about 4 pieces each. It was quite delicious and prepared with sesame glazed chicken, shaved red onion, garlic drizzle, sweet chili glaze and mozzarella. I really enjoyed the savory and sweet combination (fear not---it wasn't dessert sweet). The curly fries was a hearty portion and I equally enjoyed it. The Keg Room is a fun place: good music, above average food and welcoming, lively space. Check it out.

Yelp
We were impressed by the freshness, flavor and quality of food but even more so, the immense kindness that we were treated with by the staff. There is outdoor eating with heat lamps at several of the dining rooms. The restaurant is right near Macy's 34th street. The best thing there is probably the loaded nachos, crispy and loaded with flavor and toppings. The wings and Celtic burger were also top notch. See you again soon!!

Yelp
Solid spot! I've been coming here for the past 5 years for many work lunches. It's consistent, easy and in a great location. Food is consistent- not to say it's the best I ever had but good. They have a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, entrees - perfect for even the pickiest of eaters and they can accommodate large tables. The restaurant itself is pretty large, so you never feel like your sitting on top of the table next to you! I recently stopped by and got the crispy chicken sandwich- it was good. I've also tried their salads and burgers- also good. I'd recommend this spot if you are looking for an extremely casual, low key place to grab lunch or dinner especially if you are in a rush- they are very quick!
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Well it was a fun lively atmosphere. But kind of a waste of a meal in New York. I had salad with salmon on it and although the dressings were three different dressings and they all tasted the exact same. Bad. Kinda like Wishbone. Good service. Fabulous strawberry cider. Food well....can't win in all categories

Rémy N.

Yelp
Respect to a great sports bar. Plenty of TVs and the right food and drinks for a place like this. Thanks for a fun night.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to watch the NFL games on Sunday with our fantasy football league members. A good number of us we're coming from out of town, so we were targeting something a reasonable distance from Penn Station. A friend put this spot on my radar and it was the perfect place. It had tons of TVs, you could catch any of the games, they were great for a medium sized group, good food selection and great drink menu. Most of all though was the service, they were so on top of checking in on us and everyone really hustled. I'll admit with the so much on the menu I wondered if everything could really be good, but everything we ordered was and it came with large portions. This is definitely going to be our go to spot for NYC football watching.
google avatar

Gabby S.

Yelp
WEIRRRRD thing to say and I feel like I lot of people will be like WTF but they make amazing salmon here. I know its a weird flex but if you like salmon you should just try it and once you do you will get where I am coming from. Service here is also super friendly. Location is great by the trains and such. The cocktails have always been great. But seriously go try the salmon

Ryan P.

Yelp
Overzealous security...if coming here make sure to be careful as possible the bouncers not deem you to be not allowed to enter regardless of circumstance...avoid this place as there are ample other options including legends.
google avatar

Monica D.

Yelp
Nice place to catch a games. Service was friendly and attentive even with a large crowd. My friend got an order of the Hot Chips to start and I wound up eating a lot of them and nearly drank the Bleu cheese and Sriracha dip. When my Pub Burger came I killed the rest of that dip by using it for the crispy fries. Burger was great and cooked perfectly.
google avatar

Jay L.

Yelp
Came here a few weeks back after I saw a friend of mine post on her Instagram a fiesta bowl with shrimp and I instantly had craved it. Tried it and instantly loved it, especially with the chipotle sauce, mmm...very good. Had some drinks here as well that went along well with it. Attentive staff and good location right around Herald Square. With good drinks and not the average bar food, you can definitely bring some friends to the Keg Room for an after work gathering or group occasion.
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
We stopped here for dinner. They have a great beer selection and bar food with a focus on Irish cuisine. I had the Shepard's pie. It was one if the best I have had. Very light crust. I recommend this place.
google avatar

Erin P.

Yelp
We enjoy stopping in the Keg Room. Drinks are great and food is good. There's something for everyone on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Great non touristy place near Times Square!! Here on a Thursday night and it's packed great spirts bar. We only ordered 1 food item... the spring rolls. Excellent! New fresh glass with every beer! How it should ALWAYS be! Friendly bartenders! We r from NJ and are always in the city. We tend to stay downtown, because of places like these.. but now we have a spot we love midtown
google avatar

Yelp
#Came after another party and the baby ended up on someone's pizza. I did get #yelled at a lot to get out the of the way by the waitress. It's understandable, because it was crowded around the bar. But every time, I saw her coming, I made a #path and still got yelled at. I don't know how to please her.
google avatar

Maulik M.

Yelp
Good times all around here! I've been to the Keg Room twice, once for the business lunch meeting and once for the happy hour, and I can't say I was disappointed either time. Good happy hour, good drinks, and bartenders were very friendly. The staff was courteous and extremely prompt from entrance through receiving the check.  Place is huge, you should be able to find a spot. I'll be coming back after work for happy hour and to watch games since it has lot of big screen TVs and projectors setup around the restaurant...
google avatar

Kellene C.

Yelp
Just walked in here for lunch and the ambience and the bartender was so welcoming! I ordered the Irish Penicillin Drink and it was GOOD. It was crowded as it is after 1pm but I prefer it with less people. The outdoor dining was good but since it's hot out I prefer to be inside
google avatar

Gail D.

Yelp
Fun and friendly pub with good food and great atmosphere. We had the nachos and they were delish and crispy chips. Many TVs and visible from any seat. Michele and Erica were extremely pleasant and quick with the drink great place to relax and catch up with friends.

Yelp
Friday night. And tonight, Wednesday a guy was smoking a cigar. Ruined our meal. The girls were grossed out. We asked the guy nicely to please put it out while we eat. He put it out. Then lit it up again as soon as the food arrived. And Friday night we were sitting inside the restaurant and the cigar smoke permeated the entire restaurant. Why can't they just ask him to leave. The situation was resolved! My buddy and the cigar smoker hugged. And agreed they were both out of hand (my buddy took the cigar out of his mouth and threw it to the street and the cigar was immediately run over by a yellow cab). And he gave me 3 cigars! It's all good.
