"The Kensington, a collection of four adjoining Victorian town houses in South Kensington, also got a re-do with a new design of its suites. They are now decorated with bold Thibaut wallpapers and curtains in bright colors, and have leopard-print Louis style chairs; their bathrooms feature Calcutta marble, and free-standing roll-top baths."

The Kensington (London, UK) 34 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We’re not generally drawn to traditional hotels, and a Georgian townhouse hotel is about as traditional as it gets in London. But we make exceptions for conservatism in the name of something that’s worth conserving — and the old-school London luxury hotel is a tradition that’s worth hanging on to. And like so many of the purest examples of various national traditions, the Kensington happens to be a foreign creation: that of the Doyle Collection, an Irish concern." - Tablet Hotels

Located near the underground tube and 430 bus for easy transport. The restaurant is clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Staff member Harvey was very patient, kind and answered all our questions. He provided excellent service. Daniella our breakfast server was amazing and took the time to explain how they serve breakfast. The dinner menu was inexpensive and food was delicious.

Where do we even begin! As gorgeous and ornate as the property is, don’t be worried this is a very family friendly hotel! From the moment we arrived as 3 very tired travellers, every team member made us feel welcomed and cared for. Our 2yo daughter was entertained and embraced by everyone. No request went unanswered and we would consider this one of our favourite hotels in the world! Not because of the property or location (which was all perfect) but because of the wonderful humans who work here - we will miss them all! Thank you so much K Team! Minty cried because she didn’t want to leave you all. Such a special impression to leave on a little person!

We had an unforgettable stay at The Kensington Hotel with our 4-year-old son. Visiting a big city with a young child can be challenging, but The Kensington Hotel facilitated us in every way. The staff is truly wonderful in making children feel seen and appreciated. They surprised our son with cheeky questions and conversations, a treasure hunt around the hotel, and even toys to play with. ||The breakfast menu was a delight. We did not have a view from our room, other than a brick wall, but that didn’t bother us too much. | |The trip was unforgettable. We hope to return next year.||Thank you for everything!

Not recommended.|Upon arrival, when the staff noticed we were Italian, I was directed to speak only with the Italian receptionist, despite being a native English speaker. At the bar, we were completely overlooked and eventually decided to leave. Breakfast service was chaotic: the blonde waitress shouted across the room and often forgot to bring the correct dishes. The room had stained carpet and the bathroom was extremely small, even smaller than one you might find in a camper.||Seven days after our stay, I received two e-mails confirming bookings I had never requested, along with attempts to charge my credit card. When I called, the staff claimed it was a system error, yet they never replied to any of my e-mails regarding the issue.||The only positive aspect was the hotel’s location, but overall the experience was disappointing. The property presents itself as an elite hotel, yet it would benefit from learning the standards of true 5-star hospitality.

Google
Beautiful hotel, great breakfast and incredible staff! so friendly, warm, and genuinely caring. I only stayed for two days but what stood out most was the personal touch: the hotel staff remembered guests’ names and greeted us personally at the door, which is such a rare and special gesture these days. It truly made me feel like I was coming home.|A heartfelt thank you to the entire team, and especially to George who works in the reception area. You’re all doing a wonderful job!

Stayed at the Kensington for 4 nights and we were made to feel exceptionally welcome. The staff were very pleasant without being overbearing. The breakfast was top notch and the cocktails were on another level. The rooms were spacious and clean and the whole hotel exhumed luxury. A real treat and look forward to returning some day.

I travel a lot and I have to say, this was hands down one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was actually amazing, and everything from the vibe to the decor to the cleanliness was just on point. You can tell they really care about the guest experience. Loved everything about my stay—would 100% come back!

Yelp
Had a great stay here for 5 days in London with a return here coming in a few weeks. Their cocktail bar is awesome. Perfect spot for a nightcap. The staff is friendly and warm. They offer great recommendations in the area. The rooms are nice, and have what you need. I think I had a more dated one, but still was good. Room service was tasty and prompt. Great location and beautiful property and outdoor seating area. The gym is basic but has all the things you need for a solid workout.

Yelp
We loved everything about The Kensington. Located in the heart of beautiful South Kensington, the service is outstanding and the rooms are comfortable and quiet. Breakfast and afternoon tea service are high-end elevated affairs but nicely modernized and casual like the hotel generally. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I just popped in for dinner and had a Moscow Mule and the Salmon and I will say it was the best cooked salmon I've ever had. My father was a chef so I'm definitely a foodie and this was done to perfection! The drink was also beautiful. trying to decide whether to end on dessert but I'm afraid to be disappointed after what I've enjoyed so far! Update! I have been back twice now! Second time I had the Miso Cod which was VERY GOOD! Tonight I tried the sautéed mushroom which are divine! The salmon was not so great tonight which was a bummer but you cannot be perfect all the time! Also: tonight I sat in the restaurant but I much prefer the atmosphere of the lounge and bar

Yelp
We had an Afternoon Tea.....without the tea After reaching out months in advance to secure the Landmark Tea, I'd received a message from the maître d' stating they would be ending their Landmark menu but replacing it with a Jubilee menu so she wanted to make sure this would be okay for us. After 2 weeks waiting for a promised menu, I was advised they decided keep the Landmark menu.....so we kept our reservation After we are seated for the reservation we find out they are offering an Easter tea.......they didn't inform us about this but okay, we'll give it a try. Then we confirm for the waitress that I am allergic to zucchini & she checked with the kitchen to make sure there was none on their menu & we were assured we were good to go. You know where this is going..... The sandwiches that were served were zucchini & mustard! There was also a flavorless red pepper & something else I can't remember.......um, where is the cheese & pickle? Where is the egg salad? Where is the cucumber & cream cheese? But good thing they never came over to ask if we wanted additional servings like they did with ALL other tables ....insert sarcasm.... We also never got the tea we chose. We were served a half glass each of champagne - not even a full glass then nothing. No water, no tea, and no waitstaff to be found So then I was determined to wait them out to see when they would ever come over to our table so we could just ask for the check & by this time, they are seating people for dinner.......they beat me on this game. We finally walked over to the hostess desk to ask for the check ourselves otherwise, I think we'd still be there. But the fun doesn't end here They tried charging us £28 for the champagne when the price on the menu was £20. Enough was enough! We pointed out the pricing error and told them we never received the actual tea.....the manager then came over & he removed the champagne from our bill........never have we paid so much for so little. Methinks not!

Yelp
Stayed at the Kensington during a long weekend in London, and it was a lovely stay. The common areas are cute and full of character. The daily breakfast was a great start to the day -- very friendly and accommodating service. The fruit was fresh, the French toast had good texture, and the yogurt and granola was also good. The front desk/concierge are also friendly and provide great service. The rooms are what I would call "tiny but mighty." I stayed in a room with a queen bed, and it was small but used the space very efficiently. The room was overall comfortable, but the bed sloped a bit in the middle. Other than that, highly recommend the hotel.

Yelp
Seriously you need to check why you are staying here.! I ordered 3 small glasses of wine and was handed a bill for £101 or about $120 for 3 small glasses of wine!! The hotel across the road sells the same glasses of wine for £13 or $14.5 per glass!! What a rip off! When I challenged them on the price I was told "well you should have read the price" . Well that is true but I didn't expect to be totally ripped off by a hotel that I will never stay in again. I would also advise you all to steer clear! Total rip off!

Yelp
We had afternoon tea at the Kensington Hotel, so I can't say anything about the other hotel accommodation than the saloon downstairs. Greeted by the man with the top hat at the entrance and passed along a long line of concierge, maitre-ds, and other senior staff, we ended up on comfortable sofas and chairs and got served tea of our liking, sandwiches, and pastries. All were delicious, but some of the sweet stuff. Shaped like some famous London sights, it looked fantastic, but the chocolate of the Shard's tasted cheap. Too bad, but that's pretty much all I could nag about of this place.

Yelp
I didn't stay here but I did do the london landmarks afternoon tea here. The ambiance is very nice: there's lots of light, cute decor and beautiful light music playing in the background. The service was fantastic! The starters and sandwiches were very good. I found the desserts okay but weren't my favorite. They were able to accommodate my friend's dietary restrictions and the tea was fabulous. The whole presentation was very cutesy (landmark shaped desserts on the "london eye"). I probably wouldn't return given the high price point of over 40 pounds for something I didn't find extraordinary tasty. However I would recommend the Kensington Hotel afternoon tea for someone who enjoys the ambiance and appreciates the cute landmark shaped desserts.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! The entire staff, from Antonio at reception, to Mario, to pretty much the entire staff in the K Bar, are exceptional. Kind, knowledgeable, very helpful. Whether it was Mario literally running down a taxi for us, or the waitstaff giving us spot on dinner recommendations (The Cadogan Arms, if you're curious), our time there went too quickly. Housekeeping was wonderful, despite the covid limitations, and the lobby is such a perfect mixture of quiet, productive work space and some great people watching. Given that our daughter has recently moved to London area for graduate school and is not in a hurry to return to the States, I am sure we will be back. Thank you to all who helped us feel like we were home away from home, including my teary goodbye with said daughter on your front steps.

Yelp
Try the grey stuff it's delicious, don't believe me ask the dishes! This is actually in chip's cup, a greyish pudding which is not bad. English breakfast with the sugar cubes and milk is sublime and I guess this lay the inspiration for hk style milk tea. Don't try to finish all the food. Just relax and enjoy yourself.

Yelp
Beautiful and absolutely charming little boutique hotel in queens gate. Staff is lovely. Highly recommend. Really first class establishment. Food is top notch and neighborhood is great. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience at the Kensington Hotel!! All of the staff was friendly and welcoming and there was no hesitation when something was needed. The room itself was beautiful with two very comfortable king beds and a walk in shower plus a soaking tub. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning and it didn't disappoint. They had what they called the "continental breakfast" if you were in a hurry which was a buffet where where they had all different types of pastries, cereals, and even smoked salmon on a bagel. Alongside the continental breakfast they also had a menu that you could order off of and the food was terrific. It came out within 10 minutes of ordering and it tasted fresh and well seasoned. Overall I give this hotel a 10/10 rating and I highly recommended this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful high end place to stay in London!

Yelp
Awesome afternoon tea! Very posh. Only issue was a very young child next to us who was loud and running around. Could have seated them away from a quiet couple

Yelp
Our stay at the kensington hotel was a memorable one, We arrived at about 11.00 am in the morning and we had our room ready which was quite a surprise and a delight to me and my partner. Our room was filled with the most freshest fragrance, toiletries were also provided soaps, towels, bath scents, plenty of face, hand, and body towels too. The bedding was comfortable and the we were provided with foam pillows. The room faced Queensgate avenue which was a good view and we enjoyed looking down the window too every morning to assess the weather. We loved the hotel lobby and the famous K bar which was full of locals and hotel guests alike ...Chandelier celling towering over a mahogany walled bar, it was a cross between don draper and late night cocktail bar and It was one of the best highlights in this hotel. All in all it was a lovely and comfortable stay and we can't wait to return again.

Yelp
Such a cute place to have afternoon tea. It's super bright and airy, unlike some of the other more traditional afternoon tea spots. We sat in a corner against the book shelf. We were a bit worried that their London sights afternoon tea was just for tourists. It definitely appealed to our tourist selves BUT it wasn't a tourist trap. The food was high quality and delicious! The tea and service were exquisite. The hotel lobby itself was so festive and pretty. This was one of our favorite things we did in London!
google avatar

Alan M.

Yelp
I am totally WOWED!! The staff - unbelievable! Friendly, helpful, warm, sincere! The accommodations - beyond expectations. The room - exquisite. Every touch elevating them into luxury status. But the shower, alone, makes the Kensington a must stay. Thank you, staff for your care!

Yelp
The gimmick of beauty and the beast is good. The whole afternoon tea is well thought out. The desserts having Chip and Cogsworth is nice touch. Mrs Potts is being utilized as a cream dispenser for the rose jelly dessert. Lumierre is just there as a lamp for the table. The service is amazing. The staff are very attentive and always offer more sandwiches or a top up of tea. In general the afternoon tea is average and you are really paying £35 for the experience of "Beauty and the Beast". The real annoyance in all of this is the fact that we waited 7 months for this booking ! Ridiculous.

Yelp
I was super pleased with my recent stay here. I came for a long weekend with a friend. Because we weren't a couple I requested double beds and they delivered. Like any place it has it's pros and cons but here's the skinny.... Room - We ordered a deluxe room. I was impressed with the size of the room and bathroom. It was perfect for two girls. Only disappointment was we were told we were upgraded when clearly we were not. Service- We arrived early so they stored our bags and helped transport them to and from our room. Also, while speaking with the concierge I pricked my finger on a loose nail in the chair. They handled first aid perfectly. Restaurant and Bar - I love the decor and ambiance. We had drinks and dessert. I wasn't a fan of the food but I did love the space itself. They also apparently have tea. Concierge- Made our dinner reservations and reccomend places to go that were spot on! Very helpful. Overall I was pleased with this location and would return! Way to go!

Yelp
The Kensington Hotel Is Fantastic. Superb decor, ambient, atmosphere along great and kind service. We stayed for 4 Nights and we enjoyed every moment. From breakfast at the lobby to a drink in the bar . Staff was sweet and accommodating at all times. Hotel is surrounded by tons of places to eat, shop and take a walk. Also 4 blocks away underground station to go wherever you need. Definitely will come back to this hotel when Traveling to London

Yelp
Here's a tip for you: if you're ever traveling to Europe, always consult with Jelena Z (http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=MGPQVLsODMm9ZtYQW-g_OA). She's a pro. She knows what she's doing and always has great advice. So, when I was contemplating a trip to London, I asked her where I should stay. We have similar taste in accommodations and I knew I could trust her opinion. Jelena: you did right by me! After a long flight from the US to the UK, I was ready for bed but needed to stay up and acclimate myself to my new time zone. This was hard to do at The Kensington because all I wanted to do was luxuriate in the room! It's gorgeous. I'd taken the Tube from Heathrow to the South Kensington station, ambled up the stairs and managed to navigate my way to the hotel. As soon as I rounded the corner and saw the stately white facade, I knew I was home -- at least, for a while. This, for me, was something out of a movie; the neighborhood was as 'London' as I could have imagined with cool shops, fun food and beautiful homes lining the streets. Check-in in the inviting lobby was a breeze. The front staff was so cheerful and helpful, I knew I wasn't in Miami anymore. After confirming the length of my stay and room type, a porter took my bags and led me to my Superior Room. It was just what I needed. I was prepared that the room would be a bit small to my American standard but the designers fit a lot of room in that space. From the large windows to the ample seating and closet space, the room felt bigger than it was. The bed was large and extremely plush; I melted into it. The bathroom was a modern marvel of glass and slate. I appreciated that the floor automatically warmed to the touch -- no more cold bathroom floors! The service didn't stop at cheerful front staff and helpful porters. The concierge was quick to direct me on my way to tube stops, landmarks and walking trips. The turn down service prepared my room beautifully every night and made sure that after a hectic (in a good way) day of roaming about, I returned to a tranquil, peaceful room. This experience doesn't come cheap... but little in London does. I work hard so I feel as though I deserve to enjoy nice things. Staying at The Kensington made me feel like a celebrity; that's worth it.

Yelp
This hotel is so beautiful, amalgam of charming English style with some bold fashion details Hotel rooms are gorgeous, all are renovated, free WiFi, complimentary coffee and tea in the room, good size closet and 24 h room service! Location is tremendous few minutes walk to a shopping area including Harrods mall, there are many restaurants and cafes near by as well, from fancy 5 star French to little local bars, all are great! If you are about explore the city, right on the corner from the hotel there are few museums, Hyde Park and Kensington palace! Safe, clean neighborhood, 3min walk to the South Ken Tube Station, just perfect! I am very happy with the hotel, staff is so friendly and very helpful Love it here, will stay again for sure!

Yelp
This is, hands-down, tied for the best hotel I've ever visited in my life ... and at 46 years old, that's saying something! The Kensington is, more than anything, the model that all other hotels should follow for service, decor, comfort, originality, and The Holy Overall Experience. My room (upgrade!) looked like it was designed yesterday, with very contemporary furnishings and a bathroom that I sure wouldn't mind recreating back home (though I think the apartment management wouldn't like that too much (or would they?). All-in-all a sublime experience which I will definitely enjoy again next time I find myself in London. I put this squarely in the category of Places To Stay Before You Die!

Yelp
I picked this hotel due to it's location and the reviews online. This hotel is in a fairly quiet area which is why I picked it. The location is very convenient to main roads that connect you to the tube and walking distance to Harrod's. We booked our room online and said it was our anniversary and upon check-in they informed us they had upgraded our room. It was very nice that they did this for us. They also gave us a plate of strawberries and treats for our anniversary. My only confusion was why the decor of the room looked different from what I had seen online that I liked so much. I thin every room must have a different look? I never ended up asking since I was only there for one night. The bathroom was seriously the nicest bathroom I have ever seen in London. The bed was a 5 star bed, super comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant that seems to be the happening place. There were many people there on a Saturday night. My one wish for this hotel was better customer service. For basic check in, they are very friendly and helpful. When it came to the middle of the night crew (2am) the staff needed some help. We needed directions of how to get to the airport. You would think I was asking for something really difficult because it took the concierge and the front desk guy and a manager, so 3 people to try and figure it out. I understand that it was a holiday and the tube schedule was different but it took them almost an hour and they all did not agree on the best route. It was quite frustrating the day before going to the airport and I think this could have been avoided if they were more knowledgable about airport transportation options. This is a common question that they should have quick answers to.

Yelp
Maybe I'm not really the "best person" to write a review on London Tea seeing how I'm American and whatnot. But, of all the opportunities to have tea, I have never experienced anything like Afternoon tea at the the Kensington. In my book, it's the only place to do afternoon tea in London.
google avatar

Mabel H.

Yelp
I like this place. The location is terrific and they hooked me up with the best haircut of my life. We had a 'family' room which allowed the three members of our family to stay in one room. Sadly, the noise form the room above was terrible - so bad that I made an appearance at the front desk in my pajamas in the middle of the night. The staff made it up to us though. The lobby is extremely comfortable but the staff in the bar and restaurant are not accommodating. An eight day stay and every morning it was like we were strangers and every request was a challenge. Tables in the bar marked 'reserved' sat empty for hours while we were told 'no room'.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Amazing hotel - and service to match. When we arrived our room wasn't quite ready and we were asked to spend a few minutes in the bar area while they got us situated. I was not at all bothered - the delay was no more than 10 minutes. However they treated it as a grievous error - they covered our bar tab (18 yr single malt scotch), upgraded our room, and then dropped by with a bottle of champagne and an apology card. Quite an over the top response in the customer service department, but one that did not go unnoticed. The hotel will be happy to know they recouped their costs, as I later ordered more than a few additional 18y glasses of scotch on my own dime (not cheap). The room is quite nice as well - very comfortable and reasonably sized, especially for this area of London. The decor is in the lobby / lounge area is great couches, fireplaces, and 24/7 bar service. All in all a wonderful place to stay in London.

Yelp
Four lovely stars, all day (and all night!) long. Though the standard rooms are tiny (as in half the size of a standard NYC hotel room), they sure are done beautifully. If you're drawn to a sophisticated color scheme (think muted grays, taupes and creams), take notice of luxurious accent pieces such as plush duvets and oversized lamps, and appreciate a nightly turn-down service which includes slippers placed near your bed and exquisite chocolate, then you'll probably be a fan of the Kensington Hotel, too. The hotel is well-located: It's easy walking distance from famed Chelsea shopping such as Harrod's and the South Kensington tube station is just a couple of short blocks away. At around £168 per night including tax (that's $267 for you American folk), this hotel is a bit spendy... but most hotels in central London will set you back about the same! Sure, you could do Airbnb but you'll still only save minimally if you're set on staying in central London Town. Besides, if you'll only be visiting for a few nights, dealing with a hotel is usually just easier... no fuss! Consider checking in, for instance: A hotel is open 24/7 but when Airbnbing it, you're at the mercy of an owner's schedule. Finally, the BEST amenity I happened to discover during my short stay is the service. Top notch all the way, the staff accommodated a fellow Texan and me in the posh lounge area, making cocktails for us well into the wee hours after most pubs in London had already closed. When I asked how long they'd keep the bar open for us, the front desk manager replied in the most accommodating of tones: "Miss, we'll stay open all night long for our guests." And that is how it is done. Cheers!

Yelp
Mate, this place is perfection. As a global traveler, the last place I want to rest my American head is in a seedy spot. But from the doorman, to the porter, to the host, to the concierge, these people KNOW how to do hospitality. Warm wash cloths welcome weary travelers, hot cider pipping hot served upon entrance, and apple cakes served as sugary carbohydrates makes even Paleo dieters break all the rules. Call me PoshSpice because I'M SO FANCY! (At least that's how the staff makes you feel!) Yes, my room is a wee bit small but it's LONDON?! I know Texans think bigger-is-better, but quaint is romantic. And speaking of romantic, there is a lighting dimmer to adjust your mood. BowChickaBowWow! Lastly, the fitness center is modern and spacious. Brilliant! Spend a few extra pounds and spoil yourself! This place is worth it.

Yelp
My second time in London, and my first at the Kensington Hotel - and I'm very pleased. My room was on the fifth floor. Quite small, but very luxurious and comfortable. As you walk in to the room, the bed takes up most of the space. The room also has a desk, vaulted ceiling with two large windows, a very large flat screen TV, a small table & chairs, a generous closet, and a lovely bathroom. The best thing about the Kensington Hotel is that they really do put a lot of care and attention in to the details: The bathroom floor tiles are heated, which is lovely on a cold London morning. After you take a shower and the bathroom is steamed up, you notice that the mirror is also heated, leaving a nice little space above the sink for you to look in the mirror without having to wipe away the steam on the glass. They provide you with a high quality hair dryer (the kind with a nozzle to direct the heat) - a godsend for a girl like me, who has long hair and tends to forget her hair dryer every time she travels. Also, all of the rooms are equipped with global outlets so you don't need a converter if you have European or American electronics with you. The central heating keeps you cozy at night, and the turn down service and chocolates by your pillow are an excellent touch before bed. Though the rooms are small, they make excellent use of the space. The lighting in the room is excellent, giving a nice glow to your home away from home when you return to the room at the end of a long day. The hotel itself has lovely decor, with ornate details. When you step inside, you notice that it smells wonderful. The staff are very helpful, and always available when you need them. There is a nice bar on the ground floor if you want a drink before bed, and it's not too expensive compared to locations around the hotel. There are several roads full of restaurants nearby as well. Last, but not least -- the location is excellent. A few minutes' away from Harrod's and great shopping, located next to a tube station (South Kensington) and several bus lines (C1, 74 & 414, among others). Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to London and looking for a lovely place to stay in a central location.

Yelp
I stayed here when I was in London for the first time for a business trip. My producer and I were having problems with packages being delivered from the US and from different parts of the UK in time for a photo shoot. The staff at The Kensington went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were definitely high maintenance, as everything seemed to go wrong surrounding our shoot, and we had to keep calling the concierge to ask questions and ask for favors. Even though I'm sure we were driving them absolutely insane, they never let on and they only treated us with respect, amazing hospitality and attention to detail. The hotel is really different! In order to access power, you must insert your room key into a slot in the wall in your room. I'd never seen such a thing, but it's a great way to save power when you leave your room...reducing your chance of leaving the lights on! The beds are the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on and the pillows are great too! The staff were always offering to take our bags up to our rooms, help us out of taxis, help us find a reliable driver to bring us to ridiculous pre-shoot errands and they always made us feel special. I was embarrassed that we had so many requests, but they made us feel very important and posh. A BIG thank you goes out to the staff for making our experience much less stressful and much more wonderful! Also, the English breakfast we ate every morning (room services style) was to die for! I still crave it and I stayed there in November!! The location is very close to an ATM, South Kensington Station, and great restaurants and little shops. We found everything we needed very close by, and when we went to explore on our one day off, we were only about 10-15 minutes away from some of the best shopping spots! Way to be, Kensington Hotel!

Yelp
We have absolutely loved our stay here! It is located in a quieter area, but also very walkable to amazing restaurants, Hyde park, and shopping (Harrods was 15 min walk)! The staff here is beyond attentive and accommodating... from the moment we walked in we were handed hot towels and cold water, our bags were taken into our room and we were given a guided tour of the hotel. George, one of the staff members here, is so lovely and helpful!!. Rooms are small like all European hotels but very nice (and I'm picky). 24/7 fitness room onsite and the Coziest bar/seating area. Can't say enough great things about this hotel!!

Yelp
Found The Kensington on a few sites, mid-priced ($280/nt) but with good reviews. Lobby and ambience are very nice, location is good mid-London. But, for the price, the rooms are quite small and there are consistent problems. The rooms feel like they belong in New York. My "superior" queen had no closet, and a small armoir with no drawers as they had been used for the mini-bar and safe. Literally nowhere to put a small stack of clothes. The bathroom had barely enough room for my shoulders (I'm a 44 jacket), and in the shower, quite literally, my shoulders touched the walls. It was very uncomfortable for one, and you couldn't have your spouse in the bathroom at the same time. When I arrived, I brushed my teeth, and the water didn't drain in the wash basin. I called downstairs, no one was sent. The next morning, I reported it and was told it would be handled. When I arrived back at the end of the day -- water was gone. Except it wasn't fixed, just drained. Every time I add water, they need to come to the room to drain it. Never got fixed. Also, They use some type of cleaning spray that has a very strong scent. I've never noticed this elsewhere, and I'm not particularly sensitive to these things, but in my room it was over-powering, almost to the point of my leaving the hotel. At first I thought it was my room, but it turned out to be used all over the hotel. Very annoying and they should switch. The hotel is classified luxury, but that is a reach. It's more of a nice boutique.

Yelp
Sensational. From the honeymoon gift and greeting to the stunningly appointed rooms, hallways, lobby, and bar, to the impeccable service, to the outstanding location smack in the middle of Kensington (and conveniently across from Waitrose), this hotel ranks as one of my absolute favorites in London. Thinking of making it my home away from home every time I visit London.

Yelp
Afternoon tea I had afternoon tea with my hubby. The sandwiches were well made. Each sandwich was made with different bread. The scores were really freshly made or heated. It has been served with homemade passion fruits jam and sparkly strawberry jam which were unusual. The sweets were all decent and delicately made. Pannacotta was a real pleasure.

Yelp
Charming hotel in great location. Casual chic but also a little quirky. Rooms are smallish as are bathrooms but comfortable and beds are good. Showers very small and closets overcrowded. Housekeeping good but intrusive - constantly loudly roaming the halls and knocking on doors (especially in the morning). Restaurant has all the components of something special but misses the mark. A little finesse with how they prepare their eggs would go a long way. Scrambled eggs, poached eggs, omelette completely over cooked to the point of hardness three straight morning in a row even after repeatedly asking for extremely soft, lightly cooked, underdone. Coffee and tea on the average side. Best sourdough toast I've had outside SF. Staff though well-meaning are a little Fawlty Towers.

Yelp
I can not thank the staff and hotel enough for an absolutely wonderful stay. Every staff member we met as more than accommodating and polite. Afternoon tea was a dream. Perfect location. Perfect stay. Thank you!

Yelp
Nothing but positive things to say about our experience with this hotel. Lovely staff, well appointed rooms, thoroughly walkable location. Our room was quite spacious- we may have gotten an upgrade from the standard room due to the precious toddler traveling with us. The queen sized bed was cozy and provided a wonderful sleep. And coming from drought stricken California, the walk-in rain shower was quite luxurious! Although we did not partake (due to aforementioned toddler), the Afternoon Tea looked scrumptious, and the restaurant and bar looked like a nice spot for romantic dinner/drinks. The staff are very oriented toward guest comfort and satisfaction, and we felt very taken care of during our stay. My toddler also thanks you for her Kensington Hotel teddy bear! We would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

Yelp
This review is for afternoon tea only. I love the innovative savory bites that comes as a starter to the afternoon tea service. The staff was very accommodating with my diabetic father who preferred to have extra sandwiches and skip the sweets. They are also accommodating with gluten free needs as well. The rooms are beautiful, the setting right in front of the windows was lovely.

Yelp
The Kensington Hotel embodies the classic London feel of elegance and beauty! The hotel is truly stunning in every way! As you walk from room to room it has a certain charm and feel as if you were staying in a British manor or estate. The staff is wonderful too and always there to help you in any way! My Mother and I travel to London every Spring for our annual Mother/Daughter Trip and there is no hotel we would rather stay at than the Kensington Hotel! It truly is our home away from home while we're in London. Walking through the hotel there are always smiling facing from the staff and they always remember our name. The Hotel's restaurant Townhouse and their bar K Bar are also added gems to the hotel ambiance and scene! Their afternoon tea is also a nice way to take a break from the day and unwind. All is all I give the Kensington Hotel an A+! Cant wait to go back this October! Jennifer C.

Yelp
We love this hotel. It is beautifully decorated. Our room #312 was good size & nicely appointed. Breakfast was awesome & included in the rate we paid. The bar was fun & very active. It's a little a pricey, but, in my opinion well worth it. This area is very nice & has a number of shops & restaurants that are in walking distance. The staff at the Front Desk, Restaurant & Bar go all out to please their guests. It's just what we were looking for!

Yelp
Love this hotel! Recently stayed for my first trip to London and this hotel was so comfortable to come back to after a long day out sightseeing. The staff was so helpful plus the location is in a great neighborhood with easy access to the train. There were also plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance so that was really convenient for a quick bite

Yelp
Fabulous! I wanted a hotel nearby to where my niece was studying for her semester abroad and this was literally around the corner. Super convenient location and a lovely neighborhood. Even coming home alone late a night I always felt safe. I took my morning walk around Kensington Palace and Hyde Park every day and couldn't have been happier with the proximity of these. The staff was also wonderful, very kind and friendly. I had an issue with the heater in my room and it was worked on until it was fixed. The room was small and the bathroom tiny, the only real drawback being the coffin like shower. I would absolutely stay here again!

Yelp
Upon check in, they were so accommodating and I asked for a lot , they didn't even blink. Wonderful staff, great location, great chef (who made breakfast for me when breakfast was over) . I am definitely coming back and you should stay here too.

Yelp
Wonderful long weekend at The Kensington, in part due to their amazing staff! George, Rafael, Teodora, and both Anna's provided just the right amount of attentiveness and thoughtful professionalism! The rooms are a tad small but are such high quality, that did not matter for a long weekend.

Yelp
Had a really weird and uncomfortable experience happen to me here. My friend and i were hotel guests and we decided to go downstairs for tea. We entered thru the lobby in the hotel. There was a room with a bunch of tables (not the main part of the restaurant) with two tables occupied by guests on the other side of the room. My friend and i told a lady we would like tea for two. She had to see if their was availability. (Last time i tried to get tea here was in March and they said "we are booked until June" which i find really hard to believe considering the tea was nothing special.) anyways, a server named Thomas comes over and says "we can make some availability for two, would you like a table?" And i said "yes, but i was wondering how much tea per person is?" Because if it was going to be $100 a person i wouldn't want to waste their time seating us because i wasn't paying $100 for afternoon tea. His response left me SHOOK (in shock). He responded "it's rude to talk about money in front of other guests, let's go into the dining room." ITS RUDE? 1. Who are you to tell a customer they're being rude for asking how much the tea is..... pretty normal to ask. 2. Does he think he's the queen? Because he is far from that. The tea was $40 pounds meanwhile he acted like i was going to have to go into my savings account to afford it. I didn't even fully hear what he said at first or i wouldn't have gone in. The tea was mediocre but our waitress was nice. But honestly i felt uncomfortable the entire time after Thomas's comment so it was unenjoyable. Not going back and when they tell you there is a 3 month wait i would laugh in their faces like i did.

Yelp
This is my favourite hotel in London, the location, the interior, the staff all make the experience at the Kensington Hotel fantastic. There are sooo many super average hotels in London, including those that are 4 stars that would never pass for such in other countries. But the Kensington really lives up to its reputation and is definitely the perfect place to relax after a hard day of work or play. I have not dined here at night but did have a night cap and their mixologist was fantastic. I can also warmly recommend the breakfast, it's truly a great way to start the day. Regarding the rooms I was very happy with the bed quality and toiletries (I'm very fussy about these two points). If there was any complaints it was that I could hear people walking in the hallway late at night/early in the morning. Overall a great experience and will definitely be back.
