Kentish Hare

"Behind the clapboard façade sits a spacious bar with bookshelf wallpaper and a modern extension where you can watch the chefs cooking steaks on two Big Green Eggs. Care is taken both in sourcing and cooking, and dishes are boldly flavoured and well-presented. Simpler dishes are available on the bar menu." - Michelin Inspector

This is a beautiful pub, one not to miss if you are in Kent. The interior and garden are equally well-done, with a really tasteful decor. Drinks selection is fantastic and the bars are done up very nicely. It's dog friendly in the bar too which is brilliant.

Absolutely terrific meal from start to finish. The smoked salmon starter was beautifully balanced and elegantly presented—light but full of flavour. The ox cheek pie that followed was a standout: packed with a deeply rich, high-quality filling while still managing to look great. Finished with a fantastic cheesecake that played with texture and flavour in all the right ways.

Had a fabulous 3-course lunch here with my partner. Everything was amazing - especially the apple crumble. Will definitely return!

We visited The Kentish Hare for the first time in a few years for Sunday lunch for my mums birthday. You can see why it’s very highly recommended and popular as the food was beautifully presented, tasted very nice, and had a good variety on the menu. Drinks were nice and there was a good selection of wines on the menu. We went at 2:30pm on Sunday so there was a good amount of parking available, not sure what it would be like at a busier time. Staff were great and they were always walking around and visible. It was an expensive lunch for four people, but the quality of everything on the day far outweighed this. I will look forward to coming here again!

The dining area is a beautiful space that can soak up both large parties and couples without too much noise. The lunch menu is very good value with everything cooked to perfection. Service was excellent too.

Booked for 4 for dinner. Nice table, good welcome, great service. Paid £256 inc house wine (but no drinks) which I thought was somewhat steep! Very limited menu choices but we enjoyed the starter and the lamb main course. The cod dish (3 of us had this) was rather dull / tasteless. The sticky toffee pudding was OK. We have been to the Kentish Hare several times, but overall we were disappointed this time.

Yelp
The Kentish Hare is an upscale Gastro-pub! It is light, airy, with a lovely back patio. The food is definitely NOT your grandfather's pub fare! It is all locally sourced and the preparation and taste is excellent! Our party tried the lamb chops, the Cornish Cod, and a fantastic cauliflower risotto dish. Everything was fresh and tasty. The lamb in particular was melt-in-your-mouth tender! The number of vegan and gluten-free options was notable. The service was very friendly and accommodating for the party. The wine and drink list had ample options and price points. The overall costs were reasonable for the quality! So, if you are in the area, this is well worth a stop!!
