The Kettle Black

The bar/restaurant is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. It was established in 2004. They have an additional location in Staten Island. The restaurant prepares American cuisine. Soups, salads, appetizers, burgers, pizza, chicken wings, sandwiches, bowls, entrees, sides and beverages are available. Servers take requests for dining in. Several televisions broadcast sporting events.

I have ordered three times now, each time worse than the time before. I always order a burger medium rare. Every time it arrived it well-done. This last time, it arrived very quickly, but the fries were soggy and seemingly undercooked, the bun, broken apart and the wings completely dried out. Literally some of the worst food I’ve had lately. I mean if you can’t cook a burger right… Mayeb it’s better when you don’t in. It the delivery definitely sucks.

Went for the first time. Atmosphere welcoming and gives a chill relaxed vibe. The service was great. The food was really good too. Yes to the potato skins, and the wings were really good, just wish they were crispy. Can't wait to try more wing flavors!

The Kettle Black is hands-down one of the best spots I’ve been to recently. The atmosphere is incredible—clean, welcoming, and lively, with great music playing in the background that adds to the experience without overpowering conversation. The food? Absolutely amazing. Their wings are a standout—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and some of the best I’ve ever had. But it doesn’t stop there. The burgers, fries, and quesadillas are just as incredible, each dish cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. On top of all that, the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Whether you’re grabbing a bite with friends or just looking for a casual night out, The Kettle Black is a must-visit!

Me and my friends came here for the first time last night and it was absolutely amazing. Chris was our server, he gave us great recommendations! Food & drinks came out fast and everything was absolutely delicious! Will definitely have to come back.

First off, the wings here are crazy good and if you ask for them super spicy you'll get it. That's enough reason to show up. The bar is homey with a great vibe and tons of regulars, and the bartenders treat everyone who walks in the door as if they're a friend. Shout out to Eric who really made me feel welcome from the start and gave me a fantastic place to kill a few hours. I'll definitely be back, hopefully soon.

Straightforward sports/pub style bar. Decent drinks, decent wine and beer options. Fantastic bar food. 89c wing Wednesdays are genius. I’ve been here many times and never left disappointed. Last night I came by with a friend. Had 12 wings. Classic Buffalo/ JackD (my personal go too!), we also shared their classic burger and fries. Top notch high quality meat, clearly well organized and prepared as food comes quickly after ordering. As a person who is in the hospitality industry I can confidently say Kettle black is doing it all right.! Keep it up and thank you!

I went here with my friend for appetizers & beers one weekend and it was great! We got wings, mozzarella sticks, stuffed potato wedges, and beer. The staff were friendly, and the ambiance had a lot of weekend energy vibes!

Word on the street was that The Kettle Black's got 69¢ wings on Wednesday nights. Well, shoot; I love wings. Even if the wings are "regular price", far be it from me to exclude this fine establishment from my artistically perfectionistic palate (*pinkies flailing*). We showed up to a full house; Every table in the front and the back was full of people, and all the seats at the bar were taken and crowded with 'standers'. Oh boy... This is going to be rough. After about fifteen seconds of putting on my "Deer in Headlights"-face, a sweet man approached us and asked "How many?" and took down our name. He let us know there would be a bit of a wait but we were next in line. Greatly appreciated the service from him. Great guy. About 15 minutes later, a table in the back opened up for us, so we got called over and seated. I'll be honest; My 'seat' was the end section of a booth. It felt like I was sitting in a hole. Definitely needs an update, with the ambiance. The man and I came in for one thing and one thing only; Wings. I ordered a dozen Fitzpatrick's, he ordered a dozen Buffalo City, and we ordered mozzarella sticks to share. Five minutes later, (I kid you not... FIVE MINUTES LATER...) We get two plates of chicken wings set on our table. How they managed that one is beyond me, but it was record-breaking time. The wings were phenomenal. Crispy, but not dried out inside. The flavoring was spicy enough but not too spicy. The Blue cheese dressing was a little mezza mezza but that's not what we came in for. I was too busy being blown away by the wings. Half-way through our carnivorous consumption, I had a thought: The Mozzarella sticks - We never got them. But we were getting so full from the wings, we didn't need them. So, the next time our waiter flew by, we reminded him of the 'missing mozzi-sticks' and told him to scratch that order from our check. When we left, our tummies were content and we were already planning on showing up next week. Overall, the restaurant was loaded with people, so forgetting our order wasn't that big of a deal, especially since we ended up not wanting it. The food we did receive was incredibly fast, fresh, delicious and cheap. The ambiance was that of a general bar; Could have used some improvements but the wings blew me away so much, that I'm willing to sit in a hole to get more wings. Absolutely going back next week. You need to give them a try.

It's Wing Wednesday at Kettle Black, which means 69cents wings! Of course it gets crowded as this is such a great deal. We waited for about 20 minutes at the bar before getting seated. I liked that you can get 6 wings of a different flavor, so we ended up with 24 wings in Jamo, Jack D, Grandpa Nunzio, and Ragin' Cajun. Once we put our order it, it didn't take too long for our wings to arrive on two platters. The wings are a good size with meat and sauce slathered all over. To be honest, I was never able to even figure out which flavor was the Jamo and Jack D because they're so similar, so just pick one of these next time for a whiskey-infused BBQ flavor. The concept is neat since my favorite is Jameson and my boyfriend's favorite is Jack Daniel's, but difficult to tell the difference. In terms of flavor, all the wings kind of infused and tasted quite similar. Overall, tasty wings and while the flavor itself is good, the variety of flavors blended together with similar notes. Nonetheless, still an amazing deal for their wing specials.

Came for a quick bite and drink. Lots of games were played, the place was decently quiet until certain games were on and the crowd grew louder and larger. Service was great! Waitress was friendly and informative on alcoholic beverages and food choices. Definitely returning again!

I'm sorry to say the food was very disappointing. I've had their wings before unfortunately today it was very disappointing. I also had the french dip sandwich, also disappointing. The waiter was nice the decor is nice. But unfortunately the food wasn't what I've had before today.I will try it again one day.

God damn this burger is amazing!! The truffle fries are sooooo good! The seasoning in the burger and fries are on point!! I get mine without the bacon and it's still absolutely savory!

Decent burgers, though mine was a bit undercooked. Service was good. Ambiance was what it was: a somewhat biker bar vibe. Fine for what it is - wouldn't go out of the way to come here, but I live close enough that if I was craving a burger I could possibly come here again.

Shocking! Never in my experience have I been charged for a condiment at a restaurant. I like to dip my fries in mayo and asked for some when I placed my order. A small cup of mayo was brought with the fries. Surprised to see $1.00 charge for "a side" of mayo on the bill. When the questioned, the server said, "yeah we charge, it's not my fault"., It's not the dollar, it's the nerve to nickel & dime your customers. If things are so tight, perhaps consider raising your prices a bit. This petty charge for nonsense is not a good look.

Met up with some friends an our two daughters. Ages 12&7. They sat us in the back gave us iPad to order from but the waiter came to take orders so that was a bit confusing lol they did have a kids meal which is a plus for us. It is some type of sports bar there was a game playing but it was early .we were there from 6:30-8:30. It still was family friendly. The guys ordered beers my friend got a cosmo and I got patron margaritas. I had 3 but the last one did not taste like it had patron and I asked the guy to make sure he said yes. Whatever! You know the difference but you can't argue because how can you prove it. Anyway we ordered some appetizers mozzarella sticks and wings. We got habanero and Thai and lemon pepper they were okay. I got the kettle black burger. My bacon wasn't cooked all the way so I took it out. It was good. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. The waiter was okay. Not as attentive as I would've liked but nonetheless it started to get busy so I understood. The bathroom is tiny and it was extremely cold in there. One of the faucets weren't working. Cool bar , liked the ambiance. If in that area maybe go again. They say bar food has the best food lol

Finally got to see what the hype is about for being consistently mentioned as one of the top wings spots in south Brooklyn. Lived up to the hype for sure. Came in for Sunday afternoon NFL football. The place was busy but not impossibly crowded. Was able to get a table for 2 with a decent view of a few TVs. They play all the games throughout the bar. Wings were nice and meaty, not over dressed with sauce, and buffalo sauce had a tolerable balance between tang and spice level. Figured to try something else while we were here and got the potato skins. Nothing to write home about but scratched that specific itch. Good draft beer selection and canned non beer options. Servers were very friendly and accommodating, when possible

Really awesome wings and lively atmosphere. Our family of 6 came in on a weeknight for dinner for the first time. It was not too crowded but definitely was a little busy. We were seated right away, ordered a kids' Mac and cheese and chicken fingers + fries to start off our 3 kids' meals (our youngest two shared). My oldest got the sliders off the regular menu and Hubby and I decided on the 24 wings 2 flavor combo in Buffalo City and Grandpa Nunzio's. The fries were a hit, as always for my kids but the breading on the chicken fingers weren't a favorite with my little two. The kids' mac and cheese came in a huge portion so it worked out for us, as I was able to split that between the kids and added a wing from our order to their meals. My oldest enjoyed his sliders and for someone who isn't a big sauce fan, really liked it. My 6 year old is picky with his mac and cheese but was impressed with the gooey cheesiness so that's definitely a win. Hubby and I thought the wings were pretty good, and cooked to perfection. Would come here for wings over Buffalo Wild Wings, for sure. The size of the chicken wings are decent and I was thoroughly satisfied.

The Kettle Black has an okay selection of wings, bar food and drinks. On my last visit there I had the mac and cheese and my partner had the pizza. The mac and cheese was a bit bland and watery. Drinks were good with a menu of specials. Our server was on time and attentive. Its not a great date location. Their double tables are nestled in the back with a great view of the bathrooms and the kitchen. The bar is certainly the best feature of the place. There's usually a decent crowd of people and a game on. Music was great.

Labor Day weekend @ MMC , TKD to door dash for fast delivery, my peeps and I had craving for wings so we ordered for. KB, yum yum in our tummy. We ordered the 36 bundle wings, salt, pepper, bbq, and buffalo. All made well , cooked to the crisp, tender and juicy, with a side of Mac and cheese. Had a lobsters , bread toasty well, nice garnish, the portion of meat was so so, expected much more meat for the price I paid. But it I was not disappointed by the flavor , taste and texture. KB is the place to order for weekend gathering.

The bartender Chris is an asshole! Not sure if he was having a bad night or what it was. I simply asked for diet coke with house whiskey (the cheapest whiskey) and I watch him pick up a bottle of Jack Daniel's and pour it into my cup. When he hands me my bill I ask him, "did you charge me for the Jack Daniel's?". He snapped at me and yelled "it's all the fucking same! I don't want to talk to you" , I know this to not be true as I'm a bartender myself. There was a bald bartender that kindly handed me two dollars from the tip jar to make up for this but I want to warn anyone coming to Kettle Black about Chris! Complete jerk off.

This is the best wing spot in Bay Ridge by a substantial margin, especially considering that they offer .87 cent boneless wings on Monday and .87 regular wings on Wednesday. The servers here are always friendly, competent, and attentive, and it's a great place to catch a game though it can get packed quickly. I would highly recommend stopping in.

Food is awesome cheese fries are 8/10 garlic parm wings and great wall wings are a must!! Can get very busy so make sure to go earlier than expected I think there aren't any reservations either!!

Great wings deals on Monday and Wednesday! Casual bar, decent food for the price! They have lots of food options. Would recommend!

The kettle black is one of my favorite bars for the food and drinks. The service is good when dining in as well. It's a good time, anytime, especially on sporting events. It's a casual environment and very dim lighted. I love the wings and the French onion soup. The burgers are great, too. I recommend stopping by.

Worst cheeseburgers delivery 2 cheddar cheese burgers with absolutely no taste whatsoever. Just a patty of meat that was inedible and got thrown out. Absolutely no taste! Just meat on a bun. The wings we ordered were very good.

Great local sports bar! They had a large selection of craft beer as well as the typical beers you'd expect from a dive bar. The food here was actually phenomenal. Kettle black burger: super well balanced. Caramel ones onions, cheddar cheese that's perfectly melted, crispy bacon, and a great burger. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah.. Truffle fries! Yes, this burger comes with truffle fries. What a great combination! The blood orange ipa was great and the service was awesome. The servers came to check in on us pretty frequently despite the place being packed with rangers fans for the playoffs. I loved the food, the vibe, and the service at black kettle. I'll definitely be back!

OMG! Delicious!! I didn't feel like cooking tonight. I ordered The Kettle Black Burger & my hubby ordered the New Yorker. Both were a hit! Hot and juicy burgers! Definitely will eat at The Kettle Black again. Loved their truffle fries!

The wings were good.... Only thing went wrong was the ceiling was leaking above me....Had to move tables....Water was leaking prob into my beer and food....

We are here on a whim after getting our nails done and the food was downright delicious! I'm so sad I don't have any pictures to share. We got 50 wings and some fries to share. The sweet potato fries were incredible and the wing flavors were done perfectly. We got original Buffalo, Thai chili, and a whiskey bbq - all were amazing! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Came here to catch the Knicks playoff game with a friend. When we arrived, the game had already started and the house was packed. We were greeted by someone and he told us it was by reservation, but if we wanted to wait 15 minutes or so, he could seat us. I was a little surprised because it's a bar, but we waited less than five minutes and he came outside and we were given a seat. The place is the typical bar... nothing fancy. The service wasn't the best. The server wasn't very personable and never really checked on us at all. A few times we wanted something but had to wait till he finally came around to help other tables. I had the Margarita pizza, which was just okay. I also had Mac n Cheese, which was horrible. It was very soupy and total waste of $12. I would possibly return here for another sporting event, but probably wouldn't eat anything but a burger.

Place used to be great. Absolutely terrible at the moment had a cup of water with a glob of white substance believed to be mayonnaise in it. When brought to the hostess attention she literally said "ew omg" and quietly brought another cup INSTEAD of apologizing or having any to say. Followed by and absolutely burnt chard French onion soup and stale burnt nachos. Wings came out as expected at this point TERRIBLE super dry and tasted old. Used to love this place probably won't ever come back tho. A lot of better places in the area so try them out instead

Came here with a group of friends for dinner and it wasn't super busy, so we were seated right away. The service overall was just mediocre. A server came to check on us right when we sat down; we needed more time because we didn't even look at the menu. When we were ready to order, not a server in sight. Probably had to wait at least 10 minutes to see someone walk by. The food took a while to arrive too, but that was fine. What we ordered: - 36 wings with 3 different flavors (Thai Chili, Maryland Bay, and Grandpa Nunzio's) There was so much sauce on the Thai Chili and Maryland Bay wings that it made them kind of soggy and too salty. The Grandpa Nunzio's didn't have enough flavor in my opinion. - Mac & Cheese with Thick Cut Jalapeno Bacon was just not good. The mac & cheese was watery and the bacon wasn't crispy. - My friend ordered The Gringo burger and he enjoyed it. Not much more to say on that. - We also got the lobster roll. It came with a side of fries. The bread was burnt on the outside, but the contents in the roll was alright. Note that they don't honor the Yelp check-in deal. Not sure why they still have that up if they don't do it. They don't have crafted cocktails, but they do have a full bar with a variety of liquor and beer, so you can make your own.

Service is great! The prices are fair! The Mac and cheese, burgers, & nachos are good. The wings are sometimes a hit or a miss in my opinion.

Came here for dinner with my friends. I always love the wings here, they're good. You can't go wrong with well seasoned wings. The burger was average and the sandwich was pretty good too. The service was terrible though. It was very slow and the waitress was not attentive to our table since it was outdoors I guess. The drinks were good but expensive.

PROS: This place was a good place to eat. The wings tasted fresh, the sauce seemed to be homemade, and the prices were reasonable. The menu had a good variety to it and the wait staff was friendly. The food also came out in a timely matter CONS: Almost no street parking near the area and it took a long time to be seated because the host was nowhere to be found. Also took a long time for the waiter to take our orders as well. OVERALL: I highly recommend coming here since the quality of the food is great, but only if you're patient with these people

Great place to come to enjoy wings and bar food. They have TVs everywhere broadcasting sports games, and serve mixed drinks along with beer. The one thing I don't like is sometimes the wings are cold. Besides that, service is great and staff is super friendly and attentive! Later at night they begin to play music and it becomes more of a dive bar. Check them out when you're in the area!

I was hungry after a long day of work and my friend suggested we go here. Good choice on her part. We each ordered a burger and were pleasantly surprised that they were buy one get one half off which was amazing! Food was delicious. No complaints there. The main reason I wanted to leave this review was because of our server. The name on the check said Roland so I'm hoping that's his name. One thing I love was how nicely sarcastic he was and he was joking with us and he was just what I needed after a long day. Because of this, I decided to tip him 50%. He gave the service I expect when I go out to eat and I'll definitely be going back.

On Mondays here they have 69 cents Boneless wings ! I ordered a 12 pieces of Jack Daniels style wings , you must ordered a beverage to get this deal. I sat inside by the bar area and place my order. Yes they ask for your vaccine information before you can sit down INSIDE. I get a beer and the wings are a Lot if sauce on them ,you get blue cheese , carrots and celery too . It's definitely a bar to watch sporting events here. W/ a lot of TVs . They have outdoor seating too . It's pretty historic inside w/ old photos of softball teams and sporting events in the past up on the celling. Wednesday nights Is wild wing night here , the other chicken wings special here too .. Half price burgers on. Tuesdays when you by one at regular price . I'm sure I be back again the service here is good enough to be back again ...

Always super packed and pretty good, standard food. The service is just ok and takeout isn't really the best. I would definitely recommend eating in, which is probably why so many people do it. The servers are always a bit annoyed with any question asked, kind of understandable because they're so swamped. Food is given in pretty great portions and drinks are always good. Takeout is just ok. We were put on hold a couple times in the middle of our order which wasn't too bad but they made a mistake that we were only able to catch after asking him to repeat the order back to us. They told us it would be a 45 minute wait so we walked around a bit and came back 30 minutes later to check on it. It was all packed and ready to go so we brought it home and enjoyed. It was honestly a bit cold and the fries weren't the best quality. I tossed the fries completely and enjoyed my sandwich, which was still delicious even though it wasn't very hot. Still good food and I'm probably still going to come back, but I much prefer dining in than taking out.

We were looking for good wings in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. Definitely not disappointed. Hubby and I split a 24 piece boneless order. We did half Buffalo City and half Grandpa Nunzio's which was garlic and parmesan. Both flavors were absolutely delcious and I'd love to try more. We might pop in on one of their wing nights to try different ones. Our kiddo went with the Great Wall for his order and was happy. Loved the bucket of fries, it was a good size and perfect for 3 people. Minor complaint was that the carrot and celery sticks were kinda sad looking and I legit enjoying eating veggie sticks with my wings. I appreciated staff checking on us without being intrusive. They have a decent selection of craft brews and I enjoyed my local choice.

I came here on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday party celebration. We had the back tables of the restaurant reserved, and a 3 hour window of food and drinks. My favorite thing I had for food, during the night was the wings. We had a large platter of BBQ wings, and a large platter of hot wings. Both of the flavors were excellent; but the wings in general were just so good. I would love to try additional flavors in the future. We had a bunch of other appetizers / finger foods throughout the evening too; such as pizzas, quesadills, potato wedges, mozzarella sticks, & chicken fingers. Everything was pretty good. The beer selection was average, but they had all your standards. Lots of hard liquor choices too. It was definitely fun hanging out here with a group of people. My only complaint was the party area they reserved for us, was right next to the back kitchen and bathrooms, so everyone was constantly walking back and forth through our group area. Would of been better to have had a front area reserved, but this is a small minor request. The staff and service was excellent and on point. They did a great job on refilling out drinks, and clearing the used platters and plates from our tables. Overall, this is a nice fun spot to hangout at.

I decided to eat outside but it prob wasn't a good idea cause my food got cold quick but since I was really hungry I ate the food very fast! I highly suggest their truffle fries, sweet potato fries and zucchini sticks. I tried their Parmesan wings

we love kettle black, but it was a rainy day and we didnt want to go out so we ordered in, burgers are great and the wings were so good, we got the soy ginger ones, very good

Hands-down one of the best wings I've had. The side dishes are on point, my go to are the fried brussels sprouts and buffalo cauliflower. The flatbread pizza is a must try. And don't get me started on the mac & cheese. Comes in a cast iron skillet and totally amazing. The French onion soup is Perfect on a cold evening.

The have the best wings! Wing Wednesday are .69 cents!!!! I went with the kids and we ordered 36 wings we got honey bbq, garlic parm, and spicy Buffalo sauce. The order comes with blue cheese. Definitely going back for boneless wings special to try that out. The waiter and staff are great and friendly. Make sure to make reservations especially when that have specials because it was packed and we waited about 30mins which is fair.

I ordered from The Kettle Black on UberEats and it came on time and still hot. I ordered the Mac and cheese as well as the 12 Wings. The mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and super cheesy. For the 12 Wings I ordered the Grandpa Nunzio's and the Big Bear. I prefer the Big Bear as it was perfectly coated with the sauce and the sauce was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend!

It's always as good time when I come here. The food & beer are always delicious. Came here on a Saturday after noon for lunch had wings, sliders, Mac & cheese balls, corn soup (can't remember the name) & Angry Orchard tap beer which was nice & cold. Wait time was quick & staff seemed friendly. Will definitely be back for their Jameson & grandpa wings.

I know how some may this review, as I was one myself, but I am adding this review to let people with Celiacs Disease and gluten intolerance know this place claims to have gluten free wings but actually does not. They fry them in the same oil as all regular gluten containing and breaded items. This was reported directly from staff there. Very misleading and obviously not gluten free. I was once naive to this myself before the Celiac diagnosis, but any restaurant who claims to serve gluten free products should definitely be educated in the basics before they advertise as such. And trust me, this is from someone who knows how annoying and challenging the gluten free requests can be for restaurant, as serious as it is for many. In general, it's sad to say this place has dipped in quality from being THE spot for wings. Just seems like quality has went down. It's nice to ocassioanlly return for some nostalgia as it is a Bag Ridge staple but would definitely be there more to eat if they just had gluten free wings and nothing else. Hope they reconsider.

Stopped by here with the gfs for drinks. They were pretty much the only bar still opened in bay ridge. We called a few places. They have an outdoor setup and plenty of seats indoors. The staff were mostly nice and friendly. However, i cant say the same abt the crowd. I think they definitely should have a bouncer or security guard on duty. We kept getting interrupted during our girls night and one particular group was rude as hell. The guy was obviously drunk off his ass and talkin out of his ass. He was saying racist shit to us cos we were asian. The bar staff had already started leaving at this time but i know for a fact that bartenders are supposed to do their due diligence and can stop serving an individual when they are obviously shitfaced. If theyre not going to do that, they should have someone securing the bar, racism of any should NOT be tolerated by any patrons. One of the gf's was visiting out of town and she was disgusted with the type of people that came out of this bar, and no type of security intact to control the crowd.
