11 Best Asian Restaurants Near Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"In the dark ages before Etang and Bewon, the only Asian food you could find in Savannah was Thai, and the go-to Thai was (the still beloved) The King & I. This classic strip mall Thai restaurant remains the best spot in town for a hungover massaman curry." - Kiki Dy

I was craving for some Thai chicken drunken noodles, I found this place in google at first the look outside the restaurant somehow looked like old town restaurant but the minute I stepped inside gave me a calm and cool vibes, lights and tables welcome’s you with warm atmosphere service is good food is just amazing guys I highly recommend this place I will try others food as well

Google
The chicken pad thai was too sweet for me. Pork with bai ka pao was delicious, you can request staff for more chiles. Beef panang curry was sweet too but overall delicious. Pork with garlic was less flavor. Thai tea was excellent. I love it Parking in front of restaurant.

Google
I love Thai food. Tonight I got pad Thai to go and was so disappointed. This is not pad Thai. These were so dry with no flavor. Just sweet. So sweet. No egg, hardly any peanuts. Summer rolls weren't great. Tom Yum was ok but there were large woody pieces in the bottom of the soup. Good size portions and staff are quick and friendly. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat this food and I hate spending over $50 on inedible food. I'll spend the extra money on Klom Klom.

Google
I always order the salmon and vegetables with basil sauce on the side.... I have not ever had a bad experience there. They even remember my order and my children's when we come in! Almost like family! (Please note that I've ordered the same thing for years!😄) Always a great experience!🫶🏾

Google
Love this little place. My favorite is the yellow curry with rice and the chicken laab salad. Today we had spribg rolls and thai salad for appetizers and garlic chicken, tofu drunken noodles and the spicy lemongrass steak for the entree. Remember to order the complimentary hot tray if you want things spicier. Lots of vegetarian options as any dish can have tofu substituted. All dishes were really tasty. 😋

Google
Passed by this township and this one was close to the hotel so we picked it. But we were disappointed and could not agree on the rating people had given. I ordered the summer roll, which was refreshing though but the dressing wasn't appealing. I had the signature noodles but not a taste of Thai. My husband's massaman curry was very watery, and the rice portion was small. It definitely not worth anything above 4.

Google
I ordered pad thai and the summer rolls through yelp. Packaged super well, and the food tasted great as well. Serving size for the pad thai is pretty big!

Google
It was great if you don't like spicy food. Very Americanized Thai. Not very Thai at all, but tasted good for what it was. The Tom Kha Gai was delicious, even without any level of spice.

Yelp
Ate lunch here while visiting the base. The red curry is amazing. Quick service, staff was very nice, and we didn't feel rushed at all. I will return for sure.

Yelp
We had Chicken stir fry and soft shell crab with white rice. Everything was good but salty. Ben's table was not open at 11:00. Waiting on a truck. They opened the front door but said we couldn't go in. It was already in the 90's. I asked if we could just sit at a booth. NO! ............Ok so we walked down the walk and ended up at the King and I. Good selection of Pot meals and Thai Food. Everything was good but too salty. We had a tasty stir fry and also soft shell crab.

Yelp
Food here was very mediocre. The chicken sate was the best by far--came out piping hot and the chicken was juicy. The green curry was on the watery side and lacked a full depth of flavor--also could have used some more spice. The pad thai was also pretty watery and a little too sweet. The pad kee mao tasted almost like carbonara. Also got the thai tea which tasted mainly of creamer. The staff was super friendly though and very accommodating of my relative's dietary restrictions.

Yelp
I recently had takeaway from King and I. I had my usual Panang Curry, medium spice, which was excellent. Mine was spiced just right, not too salty, and a very nice portion size. Looking forward to going back!

Yelp
I just came to get a take out order of shrimp summer rolls with the peanut sauce. I judge a lot based on the consistency and taste of a restaurant's peanut sauce and theirs was great. The ambiance was laid back and intimate even though it's very small inside. In my opinion it would be a great date night (low key and intimate). The service was quick and I loved the way they packed the summer rolls and the amount of sauce they gave me (4oz cup instead of the usual 2oz). I'll definitely come back and try some of their main entree's

Yelp
Food was excellent! Service was good and the waitress was very polite and friendly. She was accommodating and helpful explaining the menu.

Yelp
Good parking, good food, good service. I hate to make menu recommendations because everyone's taste are so different but I have never had a bad meal here.

Yelp
Food never disappoints. Served hot and fast. Love the yellow curry with chicken, summer rolls and spring rolls. Servers are attentive, atmosphere cozy.

Yelp
The King and I specializes in Thai cuisine. I've never left The King and I disappointed. Is always delicious with fresh ingredients, and the staff is helpful. The Spicy Lemongrass Steak, $13.95, hit the spot. This dish features sautéed sliced steak with lemongrass, bell peppers, onion, baby corn, kaffir lime leaves, garlic and is served with steamed rice. The vegetables were fresh, colorful and crisp tender, and the steak was tender. Beer and wine served.

Ralph M.

Yelp
Good food, decent service. We have not been disappointed with anything we have ordered.

Damien F.

Yelp
Where to begin? I've got to say this is one of the most disappointing culinary experiences we've had in several years here in Savannah. We ordered delivery through doordash, and our order arrived promptly. The food was very hot on arrival, so we've no complaints there, but things began to break down once we started opening the food. The "garlic meat" dish was so heavily seasoned with either fish or oyster sauce that it was inedible. Additionally, the sauce was thick to the point of being nearly syrup. The pad Thai was bland, and there were virtually no peanuts in the dish. The chicken itself tasted old, and as if it had been boiled. The chicken satay were overdone and dry. One star for the passable mango sticky rice. Et cetera. Et cetera. Et cetera.

Yelp
Service was fine but the Thai food leaves a lot to be desired. If you have been to Thailand or any major metropolitan area in the USA with a large Thai population there is a huge difference in the quality and taste of the food. For Savannah I get the feeling this is what the locals enjoy. I ordered the Pad Thai and found it too sweet and didn't have real umami flavor. I asked for the spicy level to be Thai hot. Was not spicy at all.

Yelp
Where do I even start, this restaurant knows exactly how to keep a customer coming back. Staff is so personable, food is delicious, atmosphere is inviting. What more could you ask for. I've been to The King & I so many times that the owners recognize me. I've eaten my way through about 60% of the menu. I haven't had a dish that I haven't loved yet! The shrimp is always perfect cooked and the portions are more than enough. Even their soups are delicious and the perfect option to get your meal started and warm up your belly. You may order the soup and think it looks underwhelming but as soon as you put that first spoonful in your mouth all doubt immediately disappears. The curry is amazing. Doesn't matter which one you order, you'll love them all. My all time favorite is the green curry. Lots of veggies & sauce. I always order an extra side of rice to go because it's always too much food for me to finish in one sitting but that buttery rice always seems to disappear. If you've never had duck this is the place to try it. Mouth watering is the only way to describe it. Crispy on the outside but juicy & tender on the inside. I'm tempted to order the duck every time I go but I'm determined to try their entire menu. Don't walk, RUN here. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
They best Authentic Thai food Restaurant in Savannah. The service is great as well. We ordered shrimp fried rice, garlic pepper chicken and steak. They have the best beef salad we have had.

Yelp
The service was very good and the food. I highly recommend the Drunken Noodles, Chicken Sate, Summer Rolls, and Fried Bannana.

Yelp
Dumplings and Pad Thai were delicious. My husband said the best pad Thai he has ever had!!

Yelp
Omg this place is the bomb ! We got Chicken Coconut Soup, fried calamari and drunken noodles with chicken ! I now totally agree with saying - looks can be deceptive, when the soup was kept in front of us, I was pretty disappointed, but one sip and I was mind blown!! So mild and flavourful I would go back there get the 'for 4 people' portion and have it by myself lol.. the calamari was good but wasn't that great but came with a side of cucumber salad (that I will get a whole portion of too haha) the noodles were good but I would probably just get the red curry itself next time ! Definitely going back

Yelp
Green curry on point! We had this place bookmarked after driving by it several times. Alex and I have been spoiled with Thai food in other cities so we have been looking for a good local place. This might be it. We came here for lunch on a Wednesday. They were pretty quiet. I ordered a Thai coffee to drink. It was nice and sweet but has very little condensed milk. When I asked for some more "milk," the waiter thought I meant regular milk. Whoops! For an appetizer we ordered the summer rolls. Surprisingly to us, my lunch order already came with a spring roll though. At first we thought, is there only one summer roll? The waiter told us it came with my dish; I gave it to Alex to eat because he was not a fan of the summer roll. It's not fried ;) I did like it though! Nice and fresh! For lunch I ordered chicken green curry. Alex got pork woonsen. My green curry was on. point. Best green curry I have had in a long time! I loved the flavor, it came with lots of sauce and veggies, and the portion was easily enough for 2. Alex said his dish was ok. (Again, spoiled at places elsewhere.) The dessert menu was tempting but I was way too full. Next time: I'll try my other typical dish, pad see ew, and be clearer about needing a greater milk-to-coffee ratio :)

Yelp
I am on vacation in Savannah and I was very I was craving some Thai food so I came to the King and I and I was very happy with my decision. The food and service was very good. If I come to Savannah again I will definitely come back.

Yelp
Have not eaten in, but lots of carryout. Always tasty and a good value. Looking forward to dining in at some point. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Ambiance is attractive and clean. Red Curry . Yellow Curry Tom Ka Soup .

Yelp
Surprisingly amazing meal! As a rule, most of my delivery meals have been OK, but nothing to boast about. This one was fantastic! I ordered spring rolls, vegetable fried rice, side of red curry sauce, and Laab chicken salad. Everything was fantastic and entire order was correct...even with a few custom requests. My order arrived hot, packaged well, and servings are very generous. I'm only in this area once a year but will definitely order again

Yelp
DO NOT DINE AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! This is how they treat the only customers who dine in at The King and I Thai restaurant in Savannah. Mom ordered a seafood noodle dish that she started to eat and made her nauseous. We asked if she could swap it for something else since she barely ate any of it except the shrimp and a couple pieces of broccoli. We were told no with an attitude by our waitress, because she said the kitchen "made it right and plenty of other people eat it with no problem". The waitress them walked away rudely and asked her if she was saying it wasn't possible for us to get anything else at all and she turned around and said "you must pay full price". I said oh... Ok. Once she had gone and disappeared on the back, I asked the only other waitress in the establishment if I could have a to-go box for my food, which I was enjoying... but I had lost my appetite once the waitress treated my Mom so rudely. I also asked for the bill. The bill came and was nearly $50. We asked for a manager. Mom didn't like how we were treated in addition to not enjoying her food and asked for the dish to be taken off the bill. We were told no. The manager walked off. Mom was really upset at this point and says "I will pay for everything but that item" and puts cash on the table. She even did the math with a pen on the bill itself. Our original waitress said that wasn't acceptable and that we couldn't leave until we paid the entire amount. She said she would call the police. So my Mom told her to go ahead. We sat there for another 10 minutes at our table, waiting. Eventually, Mom says fuck this, I'm leaving. She gets up and next thing you know, our original waitress comes running out from the back yelling that we can't leave. The manager runs out, the other waitress runs out, and two other male staff members from the back kitchen run out towards the door. Our original waitress tries to block the door and then tries to grab and tussle with my 70 year old mother to restrain her from leaving. I started filming at that moment. I have 18 minutes of video of what transpired after that here (facebook.com/dirtysoufyankee.dsy). Our waitress tried to lie and tell the police that we didn't pay our bill at all. This is wild.

Yelp
An underwhelming experience. The curry is watered down with no flavor. The beef is hard like rubber, not kidding. The Tum Yum soup was luke-warm and tasted oily. Chicken wing is tasteless and oily like yesterday's leftovers reheated in the air fryer. The seafood was ok that is why I give them the one star.

Jennifer P.

Yelp
My go to place for Thai food in Savannah. Wonderful staff and food is always delicious and fresh!

Isabella P.

Yelp
I used Uber eats to have my order delivered, so I lm not sure how the ambiance or service is. The food however, was delicious. The drunken noodles I ordered were not spicy at all, but they were still very good. I also got their sweet rice with mango, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, warm, and very flavorful. Also packaged well.

Yelp
We are visiting from out of town and found this place after a long day at the beach, when we were hungry and ready for a warm and delicious dinner. The King and I did not disappoint! They were able to completely accommodate our requests for making dishes vegetarian without fish sauce (Pad Se Eu, Drunken Noodles, and Red Curry) and the portions were good. The food was hot, flavorful, appropriately spicy, and overall really hit the spot. I love Thai food but this was one of the better Thai meals I have had in a while. Highly recommend giving this place a visit!

Yelp
A friend recommended this place to me. I am glad I tried it. I went to Gottliebs Bakery and didn't realize this place was about a .5 miles from the bakery so I decided to have lunch. I ordered 2 lunch specials because I couldn't decide which one I wanted so I got both. I ordered the red curry with tofu and the Pad Thai with tofu. You also get a spring roll with the lunch special even though I ordered two lunches they only gave me one spring roll. The lunch special was a good portion and was around $10. The Pad Thai was good but I have had better Pad Thai at other places but it was still good but the red curry had a lot of flavor and I would get that again over the Pad Thai. If you like your food spicy then you will need to order it mild, medium or hot. I ordered my medium and I still needed to add more spice to it because it wasn't hot enough for me so I asked for additional spices to add to my dishes. The person I was with ordered the chicken and broccoli they said it was good but it was very sweet for them.

Yelp
When we got there we were seated right away. Its nicely decorated to match the Thai vibe, and had pretty cool curtains on the windows. The service was good and the waitress was very friendly. I ordered the King and I noodles, and my boyfriend ordered the Pad se eu with chicken. We loveee our Pas se eu, but were not totally impressed here. Both of our dishes were pretty reasonable sized, but were very bland in flavor. On my King and I noodles, I could barely tell there was any type of "house sauce" on it at all. Overall just okay, not sure we'd be going back.

Mimi N.

Yelp
Ordered pad see ew for dinner on a Monday. Pad see ew lacked flavor and left much to be desired. The noodles were way too soggy and chicken had a weird taste to it. Thai tea was good. Family run and only had one waitress for about 8 tables so service was delayed
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
We've been looking for great Thai food. Our food arrived hot, delicious, and the portions were large. Very happy & will order again!

Happy H.

Yelp
The importance of communication. There were five of us, and one of us, looking at the online menu, called in an order for take-out. There were four traditional dishes ordered, and one generic dish for one of us who doesn't care for anything spicy. The person on the other end of the phone, read back the order, perfectly. What was delivered, was five of the most bland food any of us had tasted in a long time. We are guessing, without clarifying, they chose to apply the "non-spicy" request, that we intended for one dish, to the entire order. The meal was ruined, except for the one person. This lack of spice the use of substandard ingredients. We cannot recommend this place, unless nothing else is available. Look elsewhere, anywhere, first.

Yelp
Every time we go here it never disappoints. Dad always has the Seafood Pot and I have the chicken Tom Khai Gai soup and Chicken pad Thai. All was excellent, just wish the soup was a little thicker but otherwise fabulous. The speed at which it comes out is impressive. Of course the Singha beer is a must too! Thank you!
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
Wow. Talk about rude service. I have been going here for years but today was the worst service I have ever experienced. Staff was rude and dismissive, I won't be back. Staff not concerned about it either. There are many many other much better Thai restaurants in this town so with that attitude- you are not the only game In town!

Sherri M.

Yelp
Good authentic Thai you will not be disappointed. Clean and well maintained. Server was very attentive and food was quick and hot.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Everything tasted like stale/old/overused wok oil. We were left with a bitter taste coating our mouths. Yuck! Only thing that tasted good was the steamed dumplings. Preparation was quick, as we did order from DoorDash and it arrived sooner than estimated.

Yelp
I have a new favorite restaurant! I have been twice now and both times have exceeded my expectations. They very well-priced lunch specials and the first time I got the pad thai and the second visit I sprung for the green curry. Ok so curry is my comfort food. This green curry which they claim is "hot" is not that spicy. I can handle a little heat and this perfect. It was the kind of heat that warms your soul. This curry was creamy and fluffy and chock-full of veggies and meat. They do not skimp on your bowls here! The pad thai was good. Just your everyday pad thai nothing to go too nuts over. It is a delicious bowl! My fiance ordered the drunken noodles spice level 4/5 and again hot but did not light you up. So I am sorry to say if you need spicy spicy might not be your place but either way it contained a good amount of spice. The drunken noodles in my opinon were better than the pad thai and I thoroughly enjoyed our table. Also for the lunch special they bring you a fresh fried spring roll! It was clearly straight from the frier as we had to wait until our food came to even touch it! But listen the food comes out so fast. Within minutes your plate is already hot and steaming in front of you. The inside of the restaurant is also very nice. White table cloths and beautiful water glasses. Enjoy!

Yelp
The summer rolls were delicious and I loved the peanut dipping sauce. It is apparent that everyone has a different spin on how they prepare their sauce, but it was good. I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp. It was a little too sweet for my taste. It would have been perfect with a little more balance of that Thai heat. It would be awesome if the server asks you about your preferred level of heat when they take your order, but other than that, the flavor was good. I would make a repeat visit here soon.

Lakisha R.

Yelp
I ordered the Thai fried shrimp & Thai shrimp fried rice It was so delicious Also the shrimp rolls was good! Recommend this place so far so good!

Yelp
I came here for lunch and to satisfy my craving for Coconut soup! The atmosphere was very nice and I was very happy with the service I received, my drink was kept full and my order came out quickly and correctly. The chicken coconut soup was hot and creamy, and came with lots of yummy ingredients, like white meat chicken, baby corn, snow peas, and mushrooms. I would have liked some hot oil to mix into it as a personal preference but it is otherwise a nice comforting bowl of warmth. The chicken pad Thai was a good example of the dish, with the correct noodles, peanut topping, and lime wedge. The seasoning of the dish was good, and it came out hot. Once again as a personal preference I will ask for a side of hot oil next time as Pad Thai is not normally a spicy dish but I like it a little spicy. I don't love or to make modifications my first visit so as to get a better idea of what their normal standard is for the food. I enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back to try more of the menu like the Green curry.

Yelp
My husband and I are traveling from Buffalo New York back to our home in Fort Myers Florida. We booked a hotel room about 3/10 of a mile away from this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Food was outstanding the curries are fabulous. Their spicy fish sauce really jazzed up the Tom Yum soup nicely. If I lived here I would probably be a frequent patron of this restaurant it's very, very good. The prices are excellent as well and so is the service!
google avatar

Darian N.

Yelp
Was the worst Thai dish I have ever had. $15 for 3 over cooked shrimp, 1 scallop, wish veggies. The sauce/ gravy wasn't tasty. We received our silverware 5 minutes after our food that took a LONG wait. Want a refill? You might get one next time you visit and I am not!

Amanda K.

Yelp
Not flavourful or authentic. Expensive for the watered-down food. My daughter and I went there but it was very disappointing.
google avatar

Katana K.

Yelp
My parents and I came in on a busy night. Service was good, food came out hot just like how it should. We were pleasantly surprised with the food we ordered. Came here to have a low key bday dinner. I enjoyed it, and I would come back if I were back in town.
google avatar

Andraya M.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch today at the King and I restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic. The waitress patiently explained menu options and how I could make my selection vegan. I ordered the summer rolls with tofu. My entrée was a vegan Pad Thai. It was delicious.
google avatar

Susan T.

Yelp
Had enjoyed many delicious meals here over last 4-5 years. Then the pandemic, so it had been nearly a year since our last order with them. I'd heard there were new owners and it wasn't as good. But wanted to try, since we craved Thai. What a disappointment. We describe it as "underwhelming and flavorless". Seriously, how do you make Thai food bland?? Won't be back unless something seriously changes, sadly.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Have eaten here for years. Tonight we had takeout- pad Thai with chicken and lemongrass steak. Both were very bland. No flavor. Don't know what has happened, but the food was definitely subpar; lacking flavor and spice. Won't be back.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Tom Kha Gai was delicious and creamy. Thicker, less spicy, and less limey than I have gotten at other place. Curry was delicious and creamy as well. Not too spicy (asked for mild) but very flavorful and full of good veggies and chicken. The staff was kind of funny. They seemed like either younger siblings or school friends.
