The King Eddy

I recently visited this brunch spot and was genuinely impressed by the food — especially the salmon eggs Benedict. It was perfectly executed: the salmon was fresh and flavorful, the poached eggs were just the right consistency, and the hollandaise sauce was rich without being overpowering. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in their dishes, and it definitely shows in the quality of the food. However, the customer service left something to be desired. While the staff wasn’t rude, they seemed somewhat disinterested and inattentive. We had to flag someone down a couple of times for refills and to get the check, which took longer than expected. There was little engagement or warmth from the servers, which was disappointing given the inviting atmosphere and great food. All in all, I’d return for the salmon Benedict alone — it really is that good. But I do hope they work on elevating the service to match the excellence coming out of the kitchen.

Really good food, great service. We ordered the classic Poutine and The King Eddy Burger with 3 chicken pieces on the side and it was so good. The chocolate shake with Guinness and Baileys was INCREDIBLE - I think I’m gonna go back to get another tomorrow. Portion sizes are a little big but the waitress asked if we wanted boxes to take it home before we even asked for one. Very attentive and friendly staff. Was really busy outside due to the lovely weather today but we managed to get a great seat indoors anyway - lots of space!

Amazing food one of my go to diners, so much flavour in the fried chicken, better than KFC! The service i got from one of my server wasn't that great left me unsatisfied, to the point where I had to beg for a new server, she was even rude to the other servers, great food & milk shakes I now know which server to avoid if I really want to enjoy myself! Would love to see more drink options and daily specials would keep me coming back daily!

Food was decent, though quite expensive, but it's in Byward Market so it is what it is! Patio was quite nice and not too busy in the morning, but seemed to have lots of regulars that enjoy it. Eggs Benedict was tasty, and portions were good. Coffee was sub par, but passable. Inside looks like it has been redone and it looks quite sharp in there.

Can I just say, wow. Absolutely amazing food. This Morning Glory breakfast sandwich is apparently voted the best by Ottawa Magazine. I don't read Ottawa Magazine, so I don't take much stock in what they think is the best, but from literally, my own lips, it is soo good! Oh, and novel concept, the patio staff is attentive. That gave them 5-stars right from go!

The place is nice and beautiful. Retro 50's chic decor. The staff is diversified and you see a good teamwork. However, it is noisy. We were a group of 6, ordered breakfast at 11h45 and received our meals around 12h40, which took a while but it was probably due to lunch time. I ordered the pancakes, which came with wiped cream and berries. I was disappointed in the amount of berries in my plate. I was expecting a more generous portion especially for the price(20$). Mapple sirup is extra, which I got because who likes regular sirup? Why do they even give regular sirup? So yeah. Overall mid. Maybe the other plates are better. Not the pancakes.

Been here a few times now and it never disappoints! The burgers are amazing, I got the Lulu burger and my boyfriend got the king eddy club! We waited for our food I’d say less than 10 minutes so the service was so quick. The waitress who was also the manager was super nice and very attentive. Will definitely be coming back again!

Had an amazing lunch at King Eddy’s! We tried the fish & chips, King Eddy burger, steak and eggs, and a local IPA beer. Everything was delicious—the beer was crisp and refreshing, the fish & chips were golden and flavorful, and the steak was perfectly cooked well-done, tender, and tasty. The King Eddy burger was juicy and packed with flavor. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing lunch. Service was outstanding—fast, attentive, and friendly. Our server, Cole, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. King Eddy’s is a true gem for great food, great drinks, and even better service. Can’t wait to come back!
