"There’s a serene, romantic feel to this restaurant inside the charming Whatley Manor country house, which dates back to 1802 and sports 12 acres of formal grounds. The evening starts with snacks in the kitchen, before moving through to the dining room for the main event. Terse menu descriptions belie the detail and creativity in the artfully presented dishes, which come with some intriguing contrasts of texture and flavour. Extend your visit with an overnight stay in one of the luxurious modern bedrooms." - Michelin Inspector
Great location, beautiful place and easy to find.
Only reason we didn’t score a full 5 stars was the noise on the evening we stayed.
Located in the centre of Malmesbury the Kings Arms is a beautiful place and if you’re exploring the local area then a great location to base yourself.
We were visiting for a family wedding in the area and booked the kings arms.
Room was clean and comfortable, nice en-suite, Tea & coffee making facilities and small desk for working on if required.
Entrance is via the arch and for room the check in area is adjacent to the bar in a small room. Some confusion on our room as booked by a family friend but quickly sorted.
Parking is available at the rear but this is limited.
We arrived back at around 11:30pm still others from a party congregating in the covered area and this was unfortunately directly outside our room, hence voices and noise carried straight in to our room….

It was necessary for me to raise an issue, and I was very pleased that it was immediately recognised and resolved. I particularly enjoyed the freshly cooked Persian chicken and chips, really delicious. Highly recommended!

What an absolutely beautiful and friendly place Malmesbury is. We had pre-booked one night with our 2 small dog's at the King's Arms and on arrival received a lovely warm welcome from Marianne. She showed us to room 6 in the main building and assured us we'd get our car through the narrow arch for their car park at the back ~ which we did. There was plenty of availability in the public car parks in town + in the high street. The King's Arms is nicely decorated through out. We had also reserved a table in the bar area and thoroughly enjoyed our meals, tapas and spicy lamb stew and couscous ~ well presented and tasted lovely. |Obviously staying in a hotel with an outside garden area and a popular indoor bar, there is always noise at closing time but we soon fell asleep! The pillows were comfortable but the mattress was slightly too hard for our liking (which is a personal thing) Bed linen nice quality though. A tray of tea and coffee was available. |On booking we were aware the hotel didn't provide breakfast but again Marianne was very helpful in her recommendations, plus advising plenty of nice walks in shaded areas for the dog's. |We can't recommend staying or dining here enough as absolutely perfect. Just like to say a big thank you to Marianne and the team we hope to return and explore some more.

Great atmosphere, staff friendly, comfortable with a really mixed age range. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommend. Just popped in for a drink after a long journey.

The hotel was ok but I had room 17 outside right next to the beer garden. A table was literally under my bedroom window. Took photos with my phone.|The weather was lovely and the garden was full of happy drinkers till 10m.|Unfortunately I had my 3 and 6 year old grandchildren who normally go to sleep long before that. Impossible with people laughing and talking right b window. If you have young children make sure you are not given this room.

Always a friendly welcome at the bar, ambience is great, great vibe, somehow always manage to find a table or place to sit, staff are really lovely and the food is pretty good too. Best pub in Malmesbury if you ask me. Will be back again, and again, and again 🍻
