Marisi Chef to Host James Beard Dinner in La Jolla | Eater San Diego

"Planned for Torrey View by Breakthrough in Del Mar Heights, The Kitchen — one of two Clique Hospitality concepts helmed by executive chef and partner JoJo Ruiz — is opening in late February with a daytime menu that will span bowls, salads, and sandwiches and accommodate at least 200 guests." - Candice Woo

We stumbled across the kitchen almost completely by accident, and are so glad that we did. Initially I was a little discouraged by the reviews however they were older and we thought it was worth a look. The food was fresh, vibrant and delicious. I had the smokey sweet potato breakfast bowl, thoughtfully layered flavors and topped with a lime crema and lightly pickled red onions, beautifully balanced. My partner had the lemon ricotta pancakes with lemon curd and fresh blueberries. The pancakes were light and fluffy the curd a nice balance of sweet and acid. We decided to walk over and finish off with a coffee and sticky bun coffee at the clubhouse. It was amazing and the view is worth the trip alone. This will defiantly be my go-to in the area.

I was visiting a friend who couldn’t wait to take me to The Kitchen at Torrey — a spot she called her “hidden gem.” It’s tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, and you’d never guess such a great restaurant was just a short walk from her place! The food was outstanding, with a fresh new menu that feels upscale but is surprisingly affordable. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and seriously delicious dishes. Definitely worth discovering!

Although this was built to support the new "Breakthrough" business-park (adjacent), it's open to the public. Very nice atmosphere, and good food. Although I have visited here because I work nearby, this would be a great lunch spot if you live in the area and want a quick lunch with a chill atmosphere.

The food and ambiance are excellent and the staff are very welcoming. I also appreciate their commitment to sustainability by providing fabric napkins!

Food is very good. I have tried the carne asada fries and the carne asada burrito. Both were very good and well priced. The staff is very friendly.

Google
The staff is rude. They got my order wrong and then made me wait for everyone else's orders to be completed before they fixed mine.

Yelp
This place is hard to find, but if you do find it get the smokey chipotle chicken bowl, it's excellent!

Yelp
Beautiful lobby dining area and great quality food at a reasonable price. Definitely a cut above the usual corporate building cafe. Glad to have this open nearby.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with their smash burger Wednesday! For $9 you can choose either fries or salad. The beef patty was juicy and the fries were nice and crispy. I also like their salads. It is pretty good portion for lunch even without meat. There were utensils and condiments at the counter. Picking up is easy. The staffs at the counter were very nice also. The restaurant itself is very relaxing. It's got the modern decorations. It's nice to sit and enjoy some quality time with friends.

Yelp
The Clique Hospitality Group has opened another concept of "The Kitchen" with this one being located at the new Torrey View life sciences campus in Del Mar. The building where this eatery can be found was in the middle of the complex and not visible from the roadside. That made it difficult for anyone not working in one of the adjacent offices to find this place. If you were not from on-site like me, then it's best to pull into the below ground parking structure at the 11220 El Camino Real address and then exit on the surface level to follow the sidewalk signs to reach The Kitchen. The operating hours were limited between 10 am to 3 pm on weekdays. I would have thought they would be open early to serve breakfast hours and maybe that is in the future plans. There were large tables outside for al fresco dining while the inside seating was modern and spacious. It resembled what you would find in the lobby of an upscale, boutique hotel. I read the seating capacity was up to 200 diners. Four menu boards hung above one of the service stations where the cashier was situated. Salads, bowls, and sandwiches were the main categories. A make-your-own bowl or wrap bar was also available for custom made creations. From the Chef's Choice Bowls, my selection was the Soba Salmon Noodles. Three small pieces of soy sesame glazed salmon were accompanied by buckwheat soba, cabbage, cucumber, carrot, edamame, and green onion. If you look at the photo of my order, then you will notice the meager serving as the amount of food did not even fill half of the bowl. That was disappointing for a price of $15. The taste of the mix was fine as the soy flavor was prominent. Between the portion size and the challenging location, I limited my rating of The Kitchen at Torrey View to three stars.

Yelp
Walking distance from my office makes this my go-to location when I need to buy a lunch. They offer made to order dishes with an order on line option so that it is ready to pick up when I get there. There are tons of seating options from comfy couches, high-top tables, regular tables and outdoor seating with and without shade. They really have all of the seating options covered. The general manager is adorable and always happy to see me - or at least that is how he makes me feel. :)

Yelp
Clean restaurant, great menu selection and the food is very tasty. It gets busy during lunch rush but it's worth the wait! Great service!

Yelp
So delicious! Employees are always kind and helpful. The shrimp salad is a favorite, today I added steak for some extra protein 10/10

Yelp
This place was so difficult to find! But soo worth it. Great customer service. Great ambience, very clean and organized. We ordered food for the office. Two people got the turkey sandwich. I ordered the shrimp Avocado, we got the buffalo chicken salad, spicy falafel, beets and greens salad and Mediterranean chicken bowl. Everything was amazing. Just maybe add a little less salt on the fries. Portions are big too. So glad to have found this place. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
There are salads, wraps, plates, and smoothies. The smoothies are a little spendy, but the entrees are what you would expect for a restaurant in carmel valley. Lunch specials include tacos on tuesdays, burgers on wednesdays, and blts on thursdays. Order at the counter or online and pick up at the counter (they will text you when it is ready). Lunch can be fast if you order ahead, or if you have more time, they have a wide assortment of seating options from outside in the sun to outside with shade, inside on couches or inside at low tables and inside at high tables. There is a water bottle filling station too, so bring your water bottle. The manager is full of excitement for this new restaurant. He is really nice and eager to make sure you enjoy your visit.

Yelp
Meh. I did not like the 2 dishes that we ordered. We ordered the carne asada fries and the salmon noodles. The quality of the carne asada was not the best and it was even heavier and more overwhelmingly greasy than at a taco shop. It just wasn't good. The salmon noodles were too sweet and the salmon was a very small portion that was mostly burned. No thank you :( I will not be ordering from here again unfortunately.

Renee J.

Yelp
Wtf is carne asada less expensive than freaking falafel! Does not seem fair to people trying to eat more sustainably.
