I brought my family from out of town here before the Cograil and they accommodated us well. The server was alone but very attentive and kind. The chef/ owner is a one man shop and executed the food in a timely manner. The absolute best pancake and breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. My family was impressed and satisfied with their meals. We will definitely be back. The nostalgia and history of the restaurant is beautiful as well.

The Kitchen in Manitou Springs is a cozy delight! Homemade fries were really delicious and fresh. Chicken salad sandwiches were scrumptious as well. Highly recommend!

Google
Excellent food quality. First time I’ve had a hamburger whose meat patty was bigger than the bun in a long time. Delicious and fresh. Hand cut fries are wonderful. 8 year old Grandson had the fried chicken legs with the fries and homemade biscuit and ate it up. Optics are nostalgic from 60’s - love the real pine wood paneling. Located just north of downtown shopping district and at foot of hill from the Miramont Castle. Very walkable

Google
Over from the UK and this was exactly the sort of place I had hoped to find. You could walk past this place as it looks a little scruffy but when we read the menu we knew we had to eat there. Meat loaf and chilli were excellent our friends had the quiche and salad. Friendly service from the owner/cook who was a real character. Couldn’t resist the buttermilk pie either berries.

The food was absolutely delicious!! Feels very welcoming and warm. The gentlemen sat us, served us, and I believe also cooked our meal. Wonderful guy and an amazing spot for a yummy meal!

Google
What a wonderful Little place. I don’t recommend on a super hot day because it seems they don’t have air conditioning. It’s a very old building so it’s understandable but the decor is simple and it feels like you are just in someone’s house. Lol We ordered the quiche and the traditional breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the quiches was a bit small but perfect for a light lunch (which was what we were going for), the sausage Patties are hand formed and very savory. The iced sweet tea was perfectly balanced. The owner was our server and he was so very kind and accommodating. Checked on us often and was insistent on everything being perfect. We sat by the window so we could see Manitou life as we ate. Such a nice little visit.

We stopped in for breakfast on Saturday. Homey atmosphere, great menu. The food we had was delicious! There was only one person working but I never felt like we waited too long for anything. Oh, and great music, too ;-)

Google
I was jonesing for pancakes while out and about this morning. They have cast iron chocolate chip pancakes! Uh, Yes please! Ordered bacon 🥓 & a scrambled egg with coffee ☕️ If you’re looking for elegance, this isn’t your place, but if you want some old fashioned homemade food, in a very casual environment give it a try. If you’re a person that goes by the “look” of foods-visit their website. Plenty of pictures! Their chili looks delish! Now tell me that my breakfast doesn’t look delish! 😁

Yelp
This place is so cute!!! The owner is PRECIOUS!!!! he is so personable and told us about the recipes on his menu....the meatloaf is his mom's recipe. We ordered the meatloaf and pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I have EVER had. The meatloaf was really good...the gravy was GREAT. We will absolutely go back and try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
The kitchen has a very homey feel. I felt like I was at a dinner in the middle of nowhere or having breakfast at someone's house! There aren't many frills, but I really enjoyed the unique dinning experience, service and food here. I tried the breakfast burrito without meat or cheese and they were happy to add additional veggies to it. I had just run a marathon and maybe that's why it tasted so good, but I think anyone would agree. The burrito was full of tender breakfast potatoes, eggs, and veggies wrapped in a crispy tortilla with a side of salsa. It completely revived me! The coffee they offer is only drip coffee but it was great. The server was a really nice man who was easy to talk to and offered prompt service. The kitchen is tucked away in manitou springs and a great spot for a quite and intimate meal.

Yelp
Excellent spot and food to love! Staff is great and service is tops! Very convenient and made our day!

Debbie V.

Yelp
This was the best food ever! The waiter/cook/owner was amazing! Such a great sense of humor! Food was cooked perfectly tasted so good!! if you want some great food great service come to the kitchen. He ran out of potatoes and two customers said they'd go and get some and they did! He had everyone clapping when they're done eating and leaving !

Chris P.

Yelp
Quaint little place. Definitely family owned. Solid food. Nothing amazing but hit the spot. Service was friendly and accommodating.

Willie J.

Yelp
Came to the restaurant on a Sunday and surprisingly got to park right in front. Was greeted by the waitress who was very friendly and delightful to have a conversation with. The food here was really good! I had a bowl of chili and the hamburger with cheese, jalapeños, egg and bacon. The burger was so good that I wanted to order a burger to go for later on after walking! This place has limited seating but while in the restaurant it didn't feel crowded even though all the tables were full by the end of our meal. I would definitely come back to this place and enjoy the food and view.

Alicia D.

Yelp
When we first walked in, the lady said, "What you want?" She had no clue what was on the menu. Drinks never got refilled. Waitress never checked on us, and she gave us our ticket halfway through the meal and left the building with her bag. As we were getting ready to leave, she ran back in, saying, "You pay now." The atmosphere was not pleasant, and my pulled pork sandwich literally tasted like wet dog food. She seemed so lost as if she did not work there, nor did she even care that there were customers.

Jason S.

Yelp
The door was opened so we walked in. Found the guys working and he sat us in the window. Pretty decent food. I had a salad and the meatloaf with mashed potato's. I ate every bite. Probably wouldn't go back but not a bad meal after walking all day. We were the only people there, only one employee running the show too. Bathroom was pretty strange, but whatever.

Jamie B.

Yelp
A lot of cigarettes have been smoked in this place, which I could have gotten over, but the person working appeared to be inebriated, which caused most of our issues at The Kitchen. We had to give our drink order twice, which would not bother me if the place was slammed, but we were the only table. The person working kept getting distracted by other things while getting our drinks, and then when they finally delivered our drinks to our table, knocked my water over in my lap. Final straw was that this person took our silverware and poked one of the people at our table in the chest with it. While it could have been a joke, our table all felt like it also could have been racially motivated, so we paid for drinks, left the restaurant and ate somewhere else.

Jillian C.

Yelp
We were happy with the breakfast. It wasn't the most special breakfast I'd ever had, but it was good. Definitely worth eating. The staff was very friendly and it's a great location for people watching out the window.

Chelsey W.

Yelp
Great little secret. We have driven past this place a few times and been wanting to try. Today was the day. Walked into this quaint little spot this morning and was greeted by smile. The lady who sat us also was our waitress. She offered us breakfast, lunch or their specials. There wasn't a butt load of opinions and we loved that. Too many places try to put so many things on their menu that they aren't good at any of them. Places like this that keep their menus simple and usually are the ones that master the food they do offer. I ordered their breakfast quiche with potatoes and a side of fruit. My husband had the breakfast burrito. Mine was really good. I would have like a little more season to the potatoes but that is truly just my preference. The quiche was really good. And was very impressed with the fruit. My husband was very happy with his burrito. He said that it was all good and he was very full. We were then offered buttermilk pie with fruit compote. I'm not a huge buttermilk pie person and my husband isn't a huge berry person but between the two of us we smashed it. The waitress and chief were very personable. We throughly enjoyed the food and company. I know I read a few reviews and peoples reasoning for giving 1 star (IE: weren't open during posted hours, too small, too hot, etc.) I don't feel are valid. This is truly a couple running a business and it was great. Highly recommend this place. We will be back!

Tonia M.

Yelp
I was looking forward trying this place however, from the minute we stepped in the door the hostess was extremely nasty, rude, disrespectful and dismissive. She was a small in stature (not sure of her ethnicity, perhaps Asian decent). It's unfortunate.

Sarah O.

Yelp
Restaurant feels like home. Fast service, good food. Glad we found this place after doing the incline!!

Lucas W.

Yelp
Wonderful, made to order comfort food that goes hand in hand with the warm welcome from the couple who run this place. Some of the tastiest meals we've had in Colo Springs. Hard to find true sweet tea outside of "the south" but they do it right, just like everything else on their menu.

Tom W.

Yelp
Let me tell you how this started today. We went up 2 other places before here this morning. They could not seat us or accommodate the 4 of us. They did not have enough help to clean the tables and get us in. We went finally toThe Kitchen. We were greeted at the door by the owner. He took our orders cooked our food and treated us first class. A truly great experience! Would highly recommend!

Cj W.

Yelp
This place was so comforting and the food was great it felt like your eating a meal at home, but better. I got the BLT and chili it did not disappoint. My husband got the burger I highly recommend the burger it was outstanding. Host was so nice and had great recommendations of things to do in town.

Christie C.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was fresh, homemade, and tasted wonderful. Order a buttermilk pie for everyone too good to share

Steve O.

Yelp
Homemade comfort food at its best. The meat loaf with mashed potatoes and greens was a great choice. The meat loaf was hot and fresh which is usually not the case when I order it at most restaurants. The greens were the star, exceptionally well seasoned and delicious. The homemade biscuits and buttermilk pie will leave you stuffed. The single server in the restaurant adeptly handled all the tables with no problems. The Classic Country music being played was an added bonus.

Belinda R.

Yelp
Ordered the omelet that has the potatoes on the side. The food was good. I loved the atmosphere also. Waitress, Jessica, did great!!! Will return when back in town.

Jeanne C.

Yelp
I had the fried chicken and my sis in law had the hamburger and it was all DELICIOUS!!! Loves the greens & Cucumber salad - Would highly recommend. Take your time, relax, sit a while.., best food in Manitou . We loved the chef, it was welcoming and perfect!

Darius T.

Yelp
Servers attitude was below par but the food was very good. We were told they were family recipes and the home cooking was great! The building doesn't look like much from the outside but it's very welcoming and inviting once inside! Great for brunch!

Sarah G.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a day date on a Sunday. It's cute and very small. It has a limited menu and a very tiny bathroom. It's definitely a family owned restaurant. We like visiting locally owned businesses and supporting them. We big had a cheeseburger and my husband had fries, I had the cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was delicious, but a little too much vinegar. I still enjoyed it, though. The only reason I'm not giving this place more stars is because I had a very upset stomach after eating here. I don't want that to deter others from trying it, it could just be my digestive system ‍. Also, if you park a little bit down the street, you won't have to pay for parking.

Valeria M.

Yelp
We arrived Saturday morning and were quuickly assisted and our food was served promptly (we were the only ones there) super chill music , small place but really homey and chill.. will definitely come back. Thank you!

Leslie T.

Yelp
We ate at the Kitchen for the first time. It is very small restaurant, cute and warm! It was snowing so it felt great. It was not real busy so the service was quick I tried the fried chicken, it was great came out very hot. Seasoning was on point. My husband had the hamburger and this is about the only time he hasn't added salt. He also ate all of the fries which is unusual, he really likes them. It is a little expensive the amount of food was large but we couldn't take it to go because we are visiting.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Greated by the hostess who was also the waitress. I ordered the cheese burger and fries and my husband got the meat loaf. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had, a bit on the small side but delicious. He really liked his meatloaf too. We would recommend

Travis S.

Yelp
Really cute little place. Has some good home cooking, I would recommend the fried chicken. Everyone was super friendly too.

Nick O.

Yelp
Absolutely some of the best food in all of Manitou! If you can catch them when they're open you will be treated to a wholesome home cooked meal with a nice little twist!! Definitely a must try when stopping through town! (Definitely try their buttermilk pie, absolutely heavenly!!)

Kaley S.

Yelp
The Good: It's a place to get breakfast food? The Bad: Oddly expensive for minimal service, no atmosphere and underwhelming food with exactly zero semi-healthy options. The potatoes apparently have bacon in them, vegetarians beware. The Food: Underwhelming...undercooked Bisquick pancakes on the same small plate as my tiny peices of potatoes -- which, unbeknownst to me -- mysteriously had tiny hard crunchy burnt bits of bacon in them...and I had thought I ordered a vegetation breakfast. Cheap coffee and overall ingredients,no creativity or pride in food. Way too old-school. The Service: Only place I've ever been to where one person is host, server and cook. We went during January - sleepy Manitou's off-season, so all business (are they all locally owned? Seems like it!) are minimally staffed. The sign says they open at 8 -- we walked in to a completely silent, empty dining room and had to call several times back to the kitchen to announce our presence - not very welcoming. A man finally comes out and says they're not quite open yet -- two hours after their sign says -- but flips on the neon sign and tells us to sit whenever. He was super nice, it was just a bizarre experience. I felt bad asking for anything because he seemed so frazzled waiting on three people (me, my boyfriend, and only one other lady in the restaurant). So strange. He seats you, brings you coffee, cooks your food & beings the bill. Overall: Clearly it's locally owned and that's great but it feels like you're at your drunk uncles house, not a respectable restaurant. Unfortunately however it's one of the only places in Manitou for breakfast, that's probably why it has such good reviews.

Yelp
I have fallen in love with this place! I love EVERYTHING...place settings, the owner's relaxed attitude & definitely the meatloaf & mashed potatoes! Get the Sweet Tea unless you're diabetic then don't cuz it taste like a little bit uh Texas, just the way I like it! Will definitely be back!

Jordy B.

Yelp
Great waitress and home-made biscuits! Cook comes out to say hi. This place has character!

Pearl D.

Yelp
A little hole in the wall that's worth trying to find parking for! The pancakes were to die for, and delicious biscuits and gravy! Customer service was also amazing. I wish we were closer, so we could make this our morning breakfast stop.

Kim G.

Yelp
Comfort, from scratch food at its best! Great service and ambience too :) Have come a couple times and haven't been disappointed. Excellent meatloaf, fried chicken, greens, fried potatoes. And make sure to leave room for a piece of buttermilk pie with berry compote!

John J.

Yelp
My mother and I were looking for an early dinner and saw people eating inside. As i paid for parking a man leaned out of the kitchen window and asked if we were coming in. We said yes and he smiled and invited us in. We noticed it was a lunch menu and that is when I saw the hours listed. 8am to 3pm. I looked at my watch and it was 4:30. I apologized for not noticing the hours and the man assured me were good, he was still recovering from the lunch crowd and had plenty to do. We both ordered the meatloaf with mash potatoes and greens. The food was amazingly good. The best meatloaf I've ever had! The greens were fresh, seasoned perfectly and the mash potatoes with gravy had pieces of meatloaf in it. We were offered buttermilk pie, but i was stuffed. All food is homemade from scratch.

Heather H.

Yelp
I love this cozy restaurant! The service is great, and the food is everything I missed about The States: big hearty portions of classic American comfort food. I had the egg salad sandwich and fries, and they both left me with a happy tummy and a smile on my face. I can't wait to try the desserts. I don't know what a buttermilk pie is, but sounds delish.

Jen L.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast after hiking the Incline. The food was amazing-great portions and really fresh. The homemade biscuits and buttermilk pie with berries were standouts.

Sara A.

Yelp
This place is awesome, rustic and welcoming. The owner is a super nice guy who has made the space feel like you're dining in his house.... The food was great, delicious, comforting and inexpensive.

BreAnna S.

Yelp
We came in as a larger party and instead of offering to split us up they just sent us out because they "didn't have enough people in the kitchen". I'm wondering if they had two tables of 4 if they would have sat them or sent them out as well. This was a little weird to me.

T. M.

Yelp
2.5 stars. Good food, utensils dirty, not really welcoming. Will eat food off customers plate fyi.

Donna J.

Yelp
This restaurant says it closes at 3pm, however it was closed at 2:15pm. Looks like a nice place but won't go through the effort is trying it any other time.

Danelle A.

Yelp
The food was delicious but the wait was exceptionally long. It was only my mother and I and one more small group of 3 people in the entire restaurant. We waited 40 minutes for eggs and bacon. The other party was so fed up that they got up and left. The staff did apologize but nothing more to explain the hold up. Perhaps they were understaffed so I'm willing to try again and perhaps give them another star or two.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Long wait for overpriced average food. No military discount. Very uncomfortably hot atmosphere with no air circulation. Best avoid, not recommended. Friendly staff.

Amir S.

Yelp
Bring your family here! Great burger and got the "greens" which was wonderful. Walk just west of the round about. Avoid the crowds in downtown Manitou. Nice folks that run this family restaurant.

Karl F.

Yelp
Visited the kitchen the cook was very pleasant the waitress was very late and rude when she showed up service was really poor would not recommend this place at all until they hire a new waitress

Kayla N.

Yelp
Well, I wish I could review the food, however we tried to eat there and they told us they couldn't feed our entire group. We had 12 people, 4 of which were under 4. They told us they had one cook and could only feed 6 people, there were absolutely no customers inside, I'm guessing they turned everyone away. Very odd. I've never had a restaurant turn down money.

Jonna W.

Yelp
Ok so I might have given it 4 stars but for the fact that the "issues" are not really "issues" considering the eclectic vibe of Manitou. Some people might find the digs to be "shabby" but we absolutely loved this atmosphere. We all had the omelette with potatoes and a biscuit and ordered a side of gravy. It was hot and perfect. The cook even came out to ask if it was good. If you're looking for an experience and phenomenal food yet basic small menu then come here. If you're a snob who is turned off by what some might consider imperfection then you'll be sad and you should go to Mortons.

Courtney S.

Yelp
Parking is only a dollar for an hour and this place is super cute. Very small and cozy with wonderful hospitality. There are a few tables in here and I'm sure on a weekend it gets crowded. I feel like I've been transported to a time from long ago. I like it :) the food is super good and you can't beat the price. Biscuits and gravy mmm

Nick S.

Yelp
Doesn't have to staff to serve breakfast and asked to leave. I guess customer service isn't included.

Jacob D.

Yelp
This place is the definition of a shithole food was good but the customer service was awful. My trash looked better then their bathroom. 0/10 don't go here. Food was okay tho. Burger King could do better tho.

Amy V.

Yelp
My husband and I visited here this past week. We had lunch here. We both had a cheeseburger with fries. I added bacon to mine. They were DELICIOUS. The burgers were juicy and perfectly cooked. The fries were perfectly fried and perfectly salted. The owner talked us into the buttermilk pie with berry compote at the end of the meal and we were not disappointed. The owner was so friendly and hospitable. He gave us all the right pointers too on how to best enjoy Manitou and the surrounding area. We so enjoyed our time here and can't wait to come back!
