"The team behind Kon-Tiki, the tiki-inspired watering hole in downtown Oakland, has taken over the former Flora space, which they’re turning into steakhouse-inspired restaurant with tropical leanings — a lot more spice and fruit than you’d find at a typical chophouse. Next door, the adjacent Kon-Tiki Room will lean further into tiki with its menu of mai tais and zombies." - Luke Tsai

Google
Great uptown location right opposite the Fox theater. The specialty drinks are fabulous. But be careful. They are really strong. You have been warned 🥴. Check out their version of a Mai Tai.

Good strong drinks, and Miami Dave is super knowledgeable about the rum selection and in trying to find a drink that suits your tastes. Very friendly.

Great, smaller offshoot of the nearby Kon-Tiki. More classic drinks here, although I also appreciated that Thursdays are Star Trek nights, with special cocktails! Great service, hope to be back frequently.

Awesome drinks (and not just the tiki drinks), AWESOME vibes, awesome service. So glad this place opened up, I will be here as much as possible. And if you’re looking to party, ask for some rum tastings.

Yelp
I just found out this intimate tiki bar is closing at the end of this month along with the adjacent restaurant, Palmetto, which I enjoyed for a birthday dinner before (review: https://yelp.to/P1eOFNvLj4). What a shame since this was starting to become part of Jamie W.'s and my weekend cocktail orbit. Alas, we'll continue going to their flagship bar on 14th, but... Truth be told, they were a friendlier, looser crew here. The frozen libations were lovely and always our first preference. Jamie went for the $15 Painkiller (rum/pineapple/orange/coconut/vanilla/nutmeg) (photo: https://yelp.to/mheKHjityn), while I had the $14 Disco Banana (rum/banana/cinnamon/lime) (photo: https://yelp.to/q2IbrHbiLn). Both were tasty variations on Pina Coladas. We couldn't help but share the $10 Ripper Dog, a long dog deep-fried and nestled in a Hawaiian roll slathered with Kewpie mayo, chili furikake, and pickles (photo: https://yelp.to/Xr7URWxF4c). Just the perfect bar fare. We had only been twice and now it's gone. There are never enough tiki bars. Life's a bitch. COCKTAILS/FOOD - 4 stars...frozen delights and a tasty dog AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...true tiki SERVICE - 4 stars...friendly here, not as automatic pilot as the other Kon-Tiki TOTAL - 4 stars...when a tiki bar closes, an angel cries Sadly a new entry on my IN MEMORIAM list: https://bit.ly/3ZWjAz7

Yelp
I love Tiki bars. Went in on a Thursday night after dinner and it was definitely popping, really good vibes. Their menu is extensive and most of their drinks lean on the fruity side but that's expected. I am from LA so I was pretty surprised to see some affordable drink prices in the bay especially for the presentation of the drink- that's always nice! Staff was friendly and the drinks came out in short time. Love the atmosphere here, Definitely points for that so I'll be back with more friends.

Yelp
Great little tiki bar walking distance from the Fox and downtown Oakland. Get your fix of rum drinks and frozen treats, or try one of their other cocktails. Lots of yummy bar snacks and a super fun atmosphere! The bar is pretty large for the size of the building, lots of seating. Very chill bartenders. The frozen painkiller and frozen disco banana were legit.

Yelp
Food for $10 each and it comes in paper bowls. That was overpriced. They have great decor and cute drinks. The staff is friendly. Not a bad place to hang out for a few drinks but don't get bar snacks here.

Yelp
Still one of the best Bars in Oakland. I love their Tiki drinks and get down with their food. The ambiance is full-on tiki and awesome. They always have cool and cooky bar tenders, which seem to fit the Oakland vibe. I used to go here when it was longitude, and they've continued the tradition with minor tweaks and improvements. It will always be on my bar crawl list, though it is a very dangerous last stop, LOL!

Yelp
While I looove a good tiki drink, poor service can forsure make or break a place. The Little Green Man was delicious. The closest comparison i can think of would be the Pepino Limon Gatorade but with alcohol. Refreshing, topped over nugget nice, and hella good. Service was pretty bad lol. Came in with a sober group of friends about an hour before close. When I asked pay for my drink, bartender told us to "share a tab and Venmo each other to make my (their) life easier." We still opted to keep separate tabs, and in response, bartender slammed our drinks on the bar and had attitude and a sour face for the rest of the night. Mind you it was only 30% ish capacity and not very busy. My group is pretty good about protecting our energy but the service made the environment uninviting. Not sure if I'd come back

Yelp
Stumbled upon this bar the other month and have periodically stopped by since. Consistent cocktails and great service every time. If your looking for a bar to rely on that makes you feel comfortable and sets a great atmosphere... The Kon-Tiki Room. Thanks Guys! ;)

Yelp
Came through because a friend told me about the new Star Trek Thursdays. I was outrageously excited and had been looking forward to it for well over a week and rushed over immediately after work to drink Star Trek-themed tiki drinks and watch space antics with a bunch of Trekkers. Turned out to be full of dude-bro-techies who made it impossible to find a place to sit because they left their stuff on chairs and tables and then moved to other chairs and tables on the other side of the bar?! Literally half the seating was just jackets and backpacks with no one around them. They had Star Trek running on a projector in the corner, but the audio was turned off and they were just playing loud random music like any other bar. It was an immense disappointment and I told my crew of Trekkers to stay home instead of joining us and having fun at what I thought would be the coolest themed night in Oakland. Gave it two starts because the themed drinks were incredible and it genuinely looked like the staff weren't enjoying the way the night played out either. I barely ever write Yelp reviews, but I'm just so bummed out.

Yelp
Great place for drinks, service, and friendly greeting at the door. Music and vibe of people was great. Loved the cool drinks and tasty food. I would diffinitely go back for the drinks, food and for a nice Friday again!

Yelp
Great drinks & the service is also great. Accidentally went here instead of the originally spot but wasn't disappointed.

Yelp
We had a very nice time with a couple of cocktails each before a concert across the street. Nice little Hangout with nice decor, and the bartenders were very friendly.

Yelp
I love a tiki bar and kon-tiki does it right. Delicious artisan cocktails that pack a punch. Love the uma uma.

Yelp
Woooo Kon Tiki is back and in an amazing location in the former Fauna space on Telegraph Avenue. Nestled near the Fox and plenty of bars and restaurants, it adds a nice tiki touch to the weekend bar scene downtown. My partner and I wandered in after hanging at Emporium for a while, and I was immediately stuck by the fun decor. It definitely has the tiki vibes, lots of lighting and decorations throughout. The menu was pretty standard, so we went for some of the classic cocktails. They're all a bit expensive, which I think is fairly standard for this type of bar, and they were veeery strong. We also ordered some mozzarella sticks which was perfect for a late night snack. We were both super happy with our drinks + our mozz sticks, although the mozz sticks came with pesto instead of marinara which I thought was a bit odd. Bartender working was super nice and friendly, and overall we had a great time!

Yelp
LOVE this place. Fantastic tiki cocktails, friendly bar tenders and fun and cool themed décor. Great addition to the neighborhood!
