Awesome old movie theater for those who find big theaters overwhelming. They have a speakeasy in the basement and serve charcuterie boards and drinks during the movie, making it super cool. This place shines as a unique event venue. We had our wedding here last month and it was a blast. The staff were super helpful and our guests gushed about the place after. Me and my wife love the Kress. And you should definitely check it out.

Google
Absolutely Outstanding Private Event Experience! We recently hosted a private party at the Kress Cinema & Lounge, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, the staff made everything seamless, stress-free, and incredibly special. They took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and went above and beyond to meet every need and request. The venue itself is one-of-a-kind — the perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Our guests were blown away by the atmosphere, and we got so many compliments on the originality of the event. Whether it was the food, drinks, setup, or technical support, everything was handled with professionalism and care. If you're looking for a unique, stylish, and perfectly executed event experience in Greeley, I highly recommend the Kress. We’ll definitely be back — thank you for making our celebration unforgettable!

Google
Five stars for that atmosphere and enjoyment at this movie theater. We went for a date night celebrating a birthday and we even given two complementary warm cookies halfway through the film with our meal! Thank you so much to the staff and we had a great time. We will absolutely be back!

Erik Wheeler

Google
Two intimate, comfortable theaters in a beautiful historic building. There’s a secret speakeasy downstairs (shhh… I didn’t tell you. Just ask the staff at the theater how to get in…) The speakeasy has excellent, creative cocktails, and delicious food. Well worth the visit. We’ll be back again soon. And they’ll deliver food and drinks to your seat in the movie theater. What?!? Mind blown…

Google
I love this cinema and come back often. Everyone makes you feel right at home whether you are a group or a single. I recommend it highly.

Google
It's a great venue if you don't want to go to an overcrowded movie theater. Their food and drinks and service are wonderful.

Emily

Google
Eclectic, incredible little theater! We loved the intimate viewing experience. You gotta get a Root Beer Float to sip on while you watch.

Jennifer R.

Google
Really nice theater! Only two spots to show movies so you get great service! We had some food. All Very good and tasted super fresh. The mudslide was tasty as well. They will bring you a second drink half way through the movie if you'd like (pre-order). Sweet! Seats were comfy. Don't have the reclining feature like a standard theater, but it reclines a little and I didn't feel I was missing out on it. Since it is a smaller theater, it doesn't have to be so blaring loud like a standard, which is nice. Overall great experience and will be back again!

Yelp
What an absolutely adorable small theater! We try to find unique treasures as we travel full time in an RV. We kind of rolled the dice and decided to do our anniversary here. Food was good, warm cookies mid movie was truly the best! The decor was really neat, it was a throwback to the 30's and 40's it seemed.

Yelp
Enjoy my experience every time we come here. Quality movies in comfortable chairs, with reasonable concessions and friendly service. I always go here if I can.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
We heard about this speakeasy, underneath the cinema, from another restaurant/owner nearby - what a great find! Who knew there's a speakeasy in Greeley? So fun! It feels like an old world speakeasy inside - dark woods, and comfy seating. We ordered the spring break (comes in a very cool tiki glass), and a conference (delicious whiskey cocktail). The cookies are a must order - they come out warm so the chocolate chips are a little melty and delicious. Our bartender Gwyneth was great! Excited to come back and try more of the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun experience here! There's a speakeasy in the basement that had fabulous cocktails & the ambiance was like going back in time!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed this theater! It's nice and small which is nice. Noone walking past you a whole bunch. Seats don't recline, but they do lean back. I didn't feel like I was missing out not having my feet up. Great theater! We'll be back!

Yelp
Still Loving the Kress. Glad to be back since the start of COVID. Pleasant atmosphere and nice staff and terrific cocktails if you are in the mood. And now they have two screening rooms.
google avatar

Yelp
Always a solid choice. Very relaxed atmosphere without the usual riff raft you find at a regular cinema. You enjoy a cocktail during the show and they will even bring you another later on if you want. There's a speakeasy in the basement if you are looking for a quiet place. All good!

Elise S.

Yelp
The movies, the drinks, snacks and secret speakeasy are all amazing. It's great having such a gem in Greeley and a great atmosphere.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Love this little theater is a great asset to downtown Greeley. Nice to be able to walk to the movies from my house.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally made it to a movie! Got to see A Christmas Story! What a great little theater :) super reasonable prices, and great cocktails. Would definitely recommend and will return.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Definitely as good as it gets for theaters! Came here for a new year's eve celebration. They offered a full bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres, live band, and a cool Cary Grant/Kathryn Hepburn classic. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, not to mention the bartender pouring pint-sized stiff cocktails! Why does such a backward place like Greeley (sorry to my friends and other residents!) have such a cool place when other urban areas are still lacking?! A nice alternative to the bar scene and a much more upscale version of the typical theater. If you happen to be north of Denver, check it out!!

Joseph E.

Yelp
Great atmosphere to watch a movie and catch a drink or few. You can order ahead and have stuff brought to your seats during a movie without there being too much disruption. Very good choice for a pleasant night out!

Yelp
My fiance and I had our wedding reception at The Kress and it was the best decision ever! What a fun and gorgeous place to have a party. We both loved the Art Deco Old Hollywood feel and loved that it didn't need a lot of dressing up to make it look special. The Kress crew were amazing in helping us map out a reception plan. Linde and Ron met with us early on and answered all our questions and were very helpful. We went with the heavy appetizer buffet which was catered by, Greeley Chophouse. It was delicious and affordable. (Prime rib sliders, jumbo shrimp, veggie lasagna, cheese, veggie and fruit trays). Our family and friends all commented on how tasty everything was. We also met with Justin and Margaret and they helped us pick out a signature drink, which we named "The Get Busy Living" and handed out as guest came in, it was a hit! Our guest loved the bar service and the piano lounge was perfect for dancing it up. The theater was perfect to showcase our slideshow and for people to sit, mingle and eat. The night went beautifully and we even had our name on the marquee. My fiance requested the red carpet treatment and so they helped us rent an actual red carpet for the night. It was a magical night and I love that we were able to share such a lovely place with all of our friends and family. I highly recommend The Kress if you're looking for something unique and classy for any event. Plus, the customer service is first class.

Yelp
Everything about this place is great. It can be hard to find movie to watch as the selection can be a little thin, but most visits I'm happy to just grab a drink and some snacks in the cafe or bar below. Consistently excellent service staff, which can be hard to find in a somewhat transient city.
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
My favorite place to see a movie in Greeley! We also just checked out the bar in the basement with no name--excellent drinks and cool atmosphere!
google avatar

Anna J.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong. I love the Kress and I miss it dearly. But it has become... not what it was when I first started going there. They used to have quesadillas and burgers and show old classic films like The Birds or The Rear Window. Now it's indie films or what is already showing in the theaters, the food is even more expensive and it's like charcuterie plates... it's not the quaint and quirky place I remember. It's all fancy stuff. I miss the classic movies and the filling meals, it was like a step back in time. I guess no one else felt the same way.

Yelp
The Kress is so stylish that I wandered, for a second, if we were still in Greeley. (I kid, town! You're awesome!) A friend and I made the trip here for a night out in our old college town, and we weren't disappointed. First-run art movies. A cool, Art Deco-themed bar with a menu that made us laugh. A great staff! We would have liked to hang out in the bar longer, but we had to run into the theatre. We ordered appetizers, which were brought to our booth in the back, and spent the rest of the night watching Charlie Kaufman's latest brain-scrambler while enjoying some seriously sinful spinach dip. This brew & view is worth your dime. I recommend the chocolate martini. Yum!

Yelp
I agree with the previous postings of "Oh my god! Are we still in Greeley?!" But, I don't think it quite achieves "OMG BEST PLACE EVER" status. The Kress is great- the jazz is nice, the ambience is cool, and I love that they have Crabtree on tap. Shame on me, they overcharged me and I didn't say anything. I like that they show funkier movies, and despite the menu being considered cheesy by some according to our waitress, I actually thought the movie themed entrees were not overdone completely, though when looking through the drink menu (as a former bartender) I don't think they quite deserved their price tags in some instances. If you have more sophisticated than Jager and Rio taste, definitely check it out, and enjoy the chance to pretend that you're in a real city for the night, and support a great local business!
google avatar

Yelp
This review is based solely on the food. We got take out yesterday (we're working the jazz festival). The waitress was friendly, and the ambiance seems nice, but like I said, this review isn't based on that. I ordered the asian salad with portabella. They informed me they were out of portabella after I had paid, so offered to switch it, but since I don't eat meat, I was SOL. I asked if I could have some chips instead. My salad was wilted and small. Not even worth 2 dollars, and it cost fucking 10. My other co-worker had "It's a wrap" and it was dry and mostly lettuce. He couldn't even finish it. They forgot the salad dressing, as well as utensils. He was probably the most pissed of all of us. The other two co-workers got the pulled pork sandwich. They were small and dry, and their side ceasar salads were small and not fresh. The meal left all of us in a bad mood. We ate here last year and it was good. I don't know if it's under new management or what..... My boss says zero stars, but that's not possible on yelp, hah.

Yelp
What a fun place. Great building, good food, wonderful people, exceptional experience overall. This was our first visit, we'll be back with friends. I hope this place doesn't remain Greeley's best kept secret because they deserve to be full every night. They have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into every detail. Awesome!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. We visited the Kress after a family graduation ceremony on a Friday evening. The whole family, plus friends of the graduates totaled our group to 15 or so people. The ambiance was great w/ a jazz band playing near the bar, the decor was entertaining w/ old movie posters & movie memorabilia. They also show films in a small theater. There is a full bar & comfy couch & chair seating. Totally my style & I was really excited when we walked in. With our group of 15, we had one server. My boyfriend & his brother waited over 10 minutes for a beer & I am not even slightly exaggerating when I say it took more than 20 minutes for me to receive my sangria. This was slightly annoying, but forgivable. When we ordered appetizers, this wasn't the case. We ordered the Gouda Fellas pizza w/ smoked gouda, bell peppers, cilantro, jalapenos, cherry tomatoes, lime vinaigrette, & pizza sauce. Sounds good, right? Our food took around 45 minutes, which was alright, but when our pizza came, it had pepperoni, mushrooms, & parsley. The waitress dropped it off w/ out a word & left. When she finally returned after 10 minutes or so, we asked her why our pizza has ingredients that aren't even on the menu? She stated that she knew our pizza was wrong & that sometimes when the kitchen runs out of ingredients, they sometimes just throw whatever they have on a plate & send it out. She shrugged & when I inquired about getting something else on the menu as most of us don't care for mushrooms, she stated that the kitchen was closed & walked away. Being a server myself, I was apalled, but realizing that this was just how this place was ran, I gave up. We paid full price for drinks that took forever, & food that we didn't even order. It was a disappointment & I would not return.

Beth D.

Yelp
Ok so at Friday fest today we ordered 2 beers and changed our order to 1 beer. Server said she would correct it but didn't. So the 1 $5 beer became a $10 beer. So annoying...

Yelp
The Kress is a sleek art-deco themed bar, lounge (complete with couches and fireplace), and of course, movie theater. It sports a great menu of quality drinks made by an excellent staff of bar tenders. On tap, they serve beers from Fort Collins' locals New Belgium Brewing Co, and Greeley locals, Crabtree Brewery. The movie selection is excellent. Everything from first run art films to their Free Sunday Classic. That's right, every Sunday they have a free classic film at 7 o clock. For a classy night out at the bar, a great movie, or both, make sure you visit the Kress Cinema in Greeley.

David H.

Yelp
We decided to go and have some drinks in their lounge. Before leaving, I checked the website and the hours said they were opened until 10 PM. We arrived at the lounge a little past 8. As we walked in, the owner or the manager, asked in a very rude manner "what can I do for you?" as if we didn't belong there. I said simply, "We just came to have a drink in the lounge." The guy kind of looked around as if trying to decide if he could be bothered to serve us and finally said, "I can serve you one drink but then we're closing." We told him not to bother and we'd go elsewhere. We happened to go to the Rio around the corner where we had a couple of margaritas and were treated like customer should be. What this person didn't understand is that my partner and I are very awkward individuals and that experience will stay with us for a long time. We probably will never try again. If you're going to close early, don't treat your potential customer like a nuisance.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Me and my wife love this place! They make awesome drinks, the bartender actually takes his time, and fresh squeezes all the fruit. Best place in Greeley to have a sangria, and they also have excellent appetizers.
google avatar

Stacey K.

Yelp
I'm so excited that Greeley has this!! Great date-night place! My fiance and I had a great time and "quirky" movies normally aren't our thing. We saw The Grand Budapest Hotel and both enjoyed it. The food was good and drinks are plenty. Movie tickets are $7, drinks range from $3.50-$8, most expensive food item on the menus is $14 and most are under $10. Get there early If you want a seat with a table and expect to share if you get one. We didn't get a table and had to eat with our plates on our lap which ended up being not so bad. All of their food is finger friendly so its easy. They deliver your food to you and you can order another drink when they bring you food but they don't walk around taking orders which is okay because that would be disturbing to other viewers. Nice add on to Greeley!

Yelp
Grab a fabulous local beer on tap, some popcorn or yummy hummus plate and sit back and watch an art movie. This place is beautiful, the staff is friendly and we love coming here. My kids thought it was terrific sitting at a table noshing good fresh eats during a movie. This is not a place to miss- we drive regularly over from Loveland to enjoy a wonderful arty historic venue.

Yelp
An awesome gem in Greeley. Feel like I'm in a cool city. This is a great place. Great food and perfect atmosphere. Free old classic in Sunday evenings.

John G.

Yelp
Awesome love this place. Great food, great beer selection, great service, great atmosphere to watch a movie (or a soccer game during the world cup). The only thing that would make me go here more (which I totally don't expect you guys to do at all) is more family friendly movies. Because I only go to movies with my wife and 12 year old son. We watched Wonder Woman there and had a wonderfully fantastic time!
google avatar

Mopsie B.

Yelp
My b.f. and I are cinephiles, so we couldn't resist hopping in the car and driving up to the Kress to check it out. It's really a cool place that is somehow, strangely, in Greeley. I love the classic/weird films on Saturday afternoons but I do wish that the restaurant/bar was a little better. The bartender was all of 18 years old and could not mix a drink without being told what to add and how to make it properly. We'll definitely be back, though, because the movies and the lovely old-fashioned building are the draws.
google avatar

Kimberly M.

Yelp
I am absolutely in Love with this Cinema. I love the style they accomplished and the fact that you can truly enjoy yourself with cocktails and dinner with you movie! makes a date night wonderful! Every movie i have seen here has been phenomenal as well, they are well rounded and if you haven't been in, you must! This is 1 of Greeley's hidden treasures!
google avatar

Emilie C.

Yelp
We love this place. Unique, classic, and felt like walking back into time. From the Art Deco decor to the comfortable seating, we enjoyed the intimate setting and movie. One of Greeley's gems!
google avatar

Erika B.

Yelp
A little gem snuggled in Greeley!!! I just love this mom and pops, single screen movie theatre. Not only are the people lovely, but the cocktails are as good as the fanciest places in Chicago and the food is upscale and delicious. Small plates - Get a few things per person if you're hungry. Wonderful film selection, nice comfy seats and even tables and booths for full service during the movie. Go out of your way and check this place out. Say hi to Margaret and Justin!

Jenna H.

Yelp
Kress Cinema has really turned up their volume! I ordered a Pink Flamingo cocktail and a hummus plate with homemade pumpkin curry hummus. Both were great and had beautiful presentations. It's a super classy place that has been hosting live jazz for a while now. I'm really glad it's in Greeley. It's a diamond in the rough for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
Full bar and independent films in Greeley...what more can you ask for? A nice atmosphere and they have that to.

Eztips -.

Yelp
Probably my favorite spot in Greeley. If you go to The Kress, do yourself a favor and get a cocktail. Justin & Margaret take their time learning, creating, mixing, and serving the *best* drinks in town. (I can say that with authority because I'm pretty sure I've been everywhere else in town at least once.) You can get one of their original drinks (updated periodically, but not on any fixed schedule), a classic cocktail from the menu, or ask/suggest anything else and they'll do their best (they have a number of recipe books on hand to look things up as needed!). They have a lot of ingredients, and even make a lot of their own fresh ingredients for certain drinks (e.g., cinnamon bark-infused simple syrup). The hor d'oeuvres style food is good and perfect while watching a movie. If I'm not mistaken, the appetizers are made in house and the few available meals are supplied by Moody's next door. There's a burger and salad (chicken+avocado) on the menu, both of which are good, but if the place could improve anything it would be to have a wider selection of entrees. Movies at The Kress are always a delight. Currently only ~$7 a ticket, they're made even better because you can get your food and drinks brought in with you! Please go check this place out. It's worth it.

Yelp
Without a doubt or an argument the best place in Greeley to see a movie. Great selection of first run art films and indy cindema, and twice a week free and fun movies. Did I mention the full bar. What's not to like? Go there often so they can stay in business in a sometimes backward town.
google avatar

Jane P.

Yelp
We love The Kress. So fun to get a beer or martini, a sandwich and then relax while watching a movie that is not you run-of-the-mill flick. Always fun.
google avatar

Luke P.

Yelp
Great food. Imaginative mixed drinks. Long list of craft beers. Quiet, classy atmosphere. A real find in downtown Greeley. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
This is an amazing place, what a gem in downtown Greeley! I love that they have indie films. If you go to the Kress you are guaranteed a great night!

Jess S.

Yelp
5 stars!! 5 stars forever!! The Kress is a place that has been and always will be dear to me. Not only do they play indie-type movies, but they also show the premiers and finales of really popular tv shows. Usually FOR FREE!!! They also do free movie days, and play all of the great classics like Casablanca, Jaws, Indiana Jones, etc. Their food is amazing, and all of the cinema-themed names of the dishes make them all that much better. The staff has always been incredibly kind and the owners are always willing to strike up a conversation with customers. Needless to say, I have been on many a date night to The Kress and I will continue to spend my money here for as long as I can. This place truly outshines some of the other bars and restaurants in Greeley with its class and upscale service!

Heidi W.

Yelp
This is one of if not the best movie experience I have ever had. The food was amazing and not your movie fast food but a gourmet meal served as if I were at a 5 star restaurant. And the young staff couldn't be any more polite and nice and knowledgeable! Kyle was amazing as was the other young woman. Everyone should try this experience.

Jake C.

Yelp
What a cool place for a movie or just to hang out for a drink or light fare. Great atmosphere and a jewel in downtown Greeley.

James L.

Yelp
Great change from the usual movies. We love the classic movies and here we can see them in a great atmosphere. Good food and drinks a great place for a date!
google avatar

Becky S.

Yelp
the girlfriend and I typical movie night here. don't really come for food. just drinks and a good movie:)

Bob S.

Yelp
The restrooms are now up two flights of stairs but they do have an elevator. I also understand that the kitchen sharing is a thing of the past. It's a welcome addition to downtown Greeley and movie projector upgrades will certainly help. Check out the Kress!

Garth G.

Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed this place when it first opened but unfortunately the movie selection and the menu have progressively gone downhill.
