Beat the Heat at These 9 MICHELIN Hotels in Asia Where You Can Enjoy a Mountain Breeze

"The Kumaon, made up of 10 suites arranged in pairs that gracefully winding down a hillside. The design is minimalist-chic, with stone walls and raw concrete beams complemented by the warmth of bamboo cladding and hardwood floors, much of which is meticulously hand-constructed. Nearby, at the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, wild leopards roam." - Faye Bradley

Remote Hotels That Reward a Long Journey

"That the Kumaon even exists is almost unbelievable. High among the Indian Himalayas, nine hours by automobile from Delhi, it takes the better part of a day to get here. When the owners found it, no roads led to the site. A simple log cabin would have been challenging enough to construct. The Kumaon is no log cabin. It is a work of hotel art, a feat of tropical modernism superimposed on a mountaintop almost entirely by hand." - The MICHELIN Guide

The Kumaon is an Unlikely Achievement

"The Kumaon is a work of hotel art, a feat of tropical modernism superimposed on a mountaintop almost entirely by hand. It is a ten-suite luxury hotel as unlikely and marvelous as any in the world." - Mitchell Friedman

Living with the nature in beautifully designed modern cottages. Lovely and simple (satvik type) food. Best part the attitude of the staff which is extremely adjusting, making the guests life easy and peaceful. They have have many activities like hiking, picnic trek, meditation in famous Kasar Devi temple

I got married there 2 days back. It was the first wedding at the property ever. But one could’ve mistaken them as pros! |I am so happy that I chose them for my venue. From rooms to food everything perfection. For any request the team smiled and fulfilled it, without a line of face. Nothing comes close to the experience and hospitality they provide. And I am thankful to each and every staff member present there. ❤️

We reviewed yesterday regd kids non friendly food & we are completely stick on it ,because false claims response has been sended on my husband review by Gm ,that menu has been given or we have been asked ,only after review your team reached us next morning at the time of our check out day ,which is of no use ,one thing more important I did booking with Mr Neeraj when we are about to reach your property on 11 June his mobile was switch off which is height of unprofessionalism,we got services but after requests & discussion which impacted our peace & kids joy ,staff is excellent ,senior management pl don’t take guests for granted !!!

Beautiful property…!!!! I witnessed a very beautiful wedding and it was a perfect 4 day stay!!! The resort view is amazing and the staff was very helpful and welcoming. They took us for a small hike to Kasar Devi temple. It’s a must visit place.

Since years, Id been wanting to stay at The Kumaon- because I had heard some very good thing about this property. I am glad I finally got a chance to spend 4 nights here.||The team : The entire team ( Minakshi/ Abhinav/ Pushkar/Neeraj) is so warm and friendly & it almost feels one is home- what a nice feeling !||Extra bonus: They have four furry friends for company and if you are a dog lover like myself, you will enjoy spending time with Juno & company!||The property: Surrounded by the mighty Kasar Devi range, one could sit outside all day long and admire mother nature. The chalets are very comfortable, large and got all amenities that one can think of. The bathroom too is quite arty, equipped with really nice knick knacks & hot water is available 24/7. ||The food: one of the best gourmet experiences in Uttarakhand- if you enjoy eating fresh food, you will truly appreciate their fixed menu. Having said that, there is no dearth of 2nd and 3rd helpings!||Overall, a rather amazing experience- cannot thank the team enough for all their hospitality & service with a smile attitude . Kudos to the management for setting up this place. Will surely be back to experience The Kumaon again.

My daughter amd I planned to visit Kumaon, what a perfect place we chanced upon. The Kumaon has Serene Spaces meticulously designed, where you surrender to the beauty and quietness of the surroundings. You completely feel disconnected and you experience a sense of peace and calmness!! Incredible way to nourish your mind, and have mindful moments.with yourself or your loved ones. |Meenaksi had called to check on our arrival time and had organised her staff to collect us, which is small walk to the property surrounded by Himalayas. |The staff are super polite and courteous. The entire F&B team, House keeping, front desk a big thank you to all of them for making our stay so memorable. Special mention Anand (F&B) |Nandan who was part of the welcome team, also our trekking guide to Kasar Devi temple, he has so many interesting stories he makes it so easy to trek. Once you reach the temple the energy there is divine, a few steps up you have a Shiva Temple feeling blessed 🙏 and energised.

WORST STAY EVER. I booked this property for my older parents. Their service is absolutely the worst! Very rude staff. They literally served stale food when my parents requested for vegetarian meals for dinner. The quality of the food and service is absolutely pathetic. There are much better hotels around the area, just do not waste your money here. The rooms also look pretty basic. No point splurging money here. Literally my parents didn’t have dinner that day after they were served stale food. Will never stay here!

My husband and I had the best time at The Kumaon. We absolutely loved the property, how it is designed, the amazing location, and the views of the Nanda Devi range were just stunning. As someone who loves nature and plants, this place was a real treat. I was hooked the moment I saw ferns growing in our washroom! I was impressed with their plastic free toiletries. The staff were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. Loved the Kumaoni food, and we had so much fun with the unique experiences they offer, like village walks, leopard safaris, and nature trails. We even learned to make kiwi jam and salad dressing which was so yum! My favourite and the most memorable part was the candlelight dinner. A big shoutout to Abhinav- General Manager of the property for managing the property so beautifully and for taking us around and showing the places.
