A First-Hand Account of Life Inside the Wine Cave | Eater SF

"Inside a complex at 1777 Lafayette Street the Santa Clara Police Department says a DoorDasher allegedly swiped packages after handing off an order; a building resident who contacted DoorDash told KPIX that “they really weren’t helpful at all. They didn’t seem to care.”" - Eve Batey

The Lafayette provides a beautiful living experience, with a seamless leasing process that reflects professionalism and care. From the very beginning, everything felt smooth, transparent, and welcoming. A huge part of that experience was thanks to Jason, who delivered truly exceptional service throughout my apartment search. He was professional, responsive, and consistently went above and beyond to accommodate my needs with a fantastic deal and flexible terms. His dedication and attention to detail made the entire process stress-free and enjoyable. If you’re considering The Lafayette, I can’t recommend working with Jason and his team highly enough — they set the standard for outstanding customer service!

I moved in a few days ago and everything from the tour to the application process and the move in was top notch. And that's a testament to Sasha, Rina, and Jason's ability to promptly answer ANY question I had. It was incredibly reassuring to know that I could rely on them throughout this whole process. Even though there were some minor discrepancies regarding move-in costs and parking, they were immediately addressed. That is a first class resident experience. The team made me feel comfortable using my hard earned money to live here. The apartment itself is stunning. The beautiful amenities including the pool, clubhouses, and terraces are well-maintained and ready to use at any time of day. My pup loves the dog run and is settling in very well. Overall, I would highly recommend leasing here at The Lafayette.

This is my first time ever writing a Google review, and I feel compelled to warn others. On the surface, the apartment looks nice — the facilities are modern and well-maintained. But after living here for just three weeks, I had a truly terrible experience that forced me to move out early. 1. Extremely loud train noise (Amtrek): I was told that Amtrak trains would pass by early in the morning, but I had no idea how loud and frequent they actually are, even if my apartment is not the closest one to the street. Starting around 6:30 AM every weekday, a train passes every 30–60 minutes. The noise is so disruptive that it seriously affected my sleep and mental health. If you are sensitive to noise or need quiet mornings, this place can be unbearable. 2. Packages often lost or misplaced: Large packages are supposed to go to the package room or mailroom, but in reality, they can end up anywhere — sometimes you need to dig through other people’s parcels, and some items simply go missing. I lost packages and wasted time trying to track them down. They won't help you deliver packages upstairs even if it is a very large package and you have sent them instructions. 3. Poor move-in & move-out instructions: The leasing office provided very unclear guidance when I moved in and when I moved out. This led to unexpected issues and extra hassle. On top of that, their attitude was unfriendly and passive-aggressive — they even started by blaming me when problems arose. Clear communication should be basic, but it was not the case here. Overall, while the property looks appealing, the constant train noise, unreliable package handling, and poor management communication made my stay extremely stressful. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone who values peace, clear support from management, or reliable deliveries.

Living here has been a great experience! The team is always friendly, proactive, and attentive to details, making everything stress-free. The amenities are top-notch, and I especially LOVE the wine lounge—my favorite spot to unwind. Highly recommend!

The biggest problem with this apartment is ants everywhere. No matter how much you clean or try to get rid of them, they keep coming back. Every few days, new ants appear from different places — kitchen, living room, even the bedroom. It’s impossible to fully get rid of them, and it has seriously affected daily life. I really hope management can take stronger, long-term action to solve this issue, instead of just temporary fixes.

I had the pleasure of touring a 1-bedroom with Jason. He's an incredible tour guide, very informative, nice, and so fun to talk to. The Lafayette is gorgeous and has all the amenities one could want in a luxury apartment. The only potential issue may be the noise from the Caltrain, but I'm still looking forward to moving here. Thanks Jason!

I recently moved into The Lafayette, and I have to say, the experience has been fantastic! As a new apartment complex & community, there are always a few things that need to be worked out, but what truly makes a difference is the leasing office team—Sasha, Rina, Kristie, and Jason. They are an amazing team—always upbeat, smiling, and genuinely happy to help. For anything within their control, they address it immediately and efficiently, ensuring a smooth experience. On the rare occasions when something couldn’t be resolved exactly as I had hoped, they took the time to explain the situation clearly and explore alternatives whenever possible, which I truly appreciated. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and openness make all the difference. Beyond the great staff, the amenities and overall living experience here have been impressive for me. If you’re looking for a place that feels welcoming and well-managed, I highly recommend The Lafayette!

Yelp
Horrible experience--dysfunctional and completely incompetent. No one picks up the phone, no one returns calls or emails, and you can't get any assistance. You have to personally go to the office if you need anything. I also wasn't aware of the garbage smell in the air--look up "Milpitas smell." Don't make my mistake--look elsewhere.

Yelp
They are kind and thoughtful here. The team are great, and the truly go out of their way to help and support your experience here. They are responsive and couldn't do more to improve the overall experience. I love the team here as much as I love the apartment and community we are building.
