Fantastic place! It has a great vibe. Open, clean feeling. Has plants hanging around everywhere. The food tastes very fresh and very tasty! Delightful, impressive, and creative menu. The lengua and pork belly appetizers are incredible. The butter butter salad is delicious! And the water roll is very good. Their sushi rolls (or at least this one) already has sauce in the rice/on the roll, which is a little different, but it was good and the fish tasted very fresh. The handcrafted cocktails are lovely; I highly recommend the Grand Piano! Go during happy hour! 3-5:30 pm daily. Unlike lots of places, there are a lot of good options during their happy hour for both the food and the drinks. Good service. Friendly staff. Enjoyable experience! A happy place for foodies :D. A little expensive, but the food is all very fresh, tasty, and well sourced!

Been here a few times and although the first time was a blur, I enjoyed my visits with delicious food. Service was good. 3 times in a row we had Kayla and lol she remembered us. She is very nice and always smiling. Food: Spicy Tuna Musubi Bacon Lardon Chicken Karage Tsukemono And other dishes from my first visit: Cauliflower Beef skewers Shrimp Tempura Roll We also tried a dish that had different seafood in a bowl (can't remember the name and I don't see it on the menu) The bacon lardon was a hit. Great flavors and the bacon was thick and sweet. YUMMY! The spicy tuna is deep fried (real quick) which gives it a great texture And the Karage is tasteful and soft but yet crispy all at the same time. Lastly, a glass of wine is a bit pricey but still I'll pay for it since I NEED wine with all my dishes. :) Great location but there's times that the Village is busy so be patient with parking. Lastly, Estrella (Assistant GM) is very nice and pleasant. She stopped by our table to introduce herself to us and made a recommendation to try the Poke. I will have to and compare it my favorites in Hawaii and SD.

This place is my favorite in Carlsbad period. Sustainable, conscious, organic, wild and clean ingredients. Unmatched precision goes into each dish shows through the presentation and the taste will delight you. Sushi like you've never had before. Get fresh with the water based cuisine or have something more substantial from the land side. Everyone can have what they want here. Great for clients, guests and date night. Happy hour is amazing 3-5:30pm daily. Highest recommendation!

High quality ingredients, excellent drinks, good service. They offer small plates that are sushi alternatives if someone in your party isn’t as interested in sushi. The crispy chicken, bacon Lardon were excellent; we also enjoyed the Papa Bear roll. Essential lavender, grand piano, and Kentucky buck were all well balanced alcoholic drinks. The staff was polite and attentive; I felt well taken care of.

One word... wow! Okay... maybe a few more. Every plate that was handed over from the master chef and owner, Robert, was absolutely incredible. From the Carlsbad Roll to the Water Roll... everything was beyond delicious. If you love sushi done right, you will love it here. Tell Robert, Manny Vargas sent ya.

Tried to order "omakase" for 4 but turns out the server just picked items off the menu: tomato salad, pickled vegetables, (soggy and poor) poke and we waited as each dish arrived for some of the actual sushi the restaurant is known for. When a roll did arrive it wasn't nearly substantial enough for 4 and the overall experience wasn't near what we expected from the hype. Might be time to refresh the attitudes. Wouldn't recommend unless you're a sushi novice.

For anyone who's looking to pull out all the stops for a first date this is a great destination 4 amazing food wonderful atmosphere but to top it all off there's the captain's speakeasy downstairs and I'll tell you the history of an actual speakeasy that was in the location and they serve absinthe

The Chicken & Waffle sandwich was to die for and I could go eat their Tuna Musubi roll everyday!
