Made it down to New Hope during my birthday weekend, a rare but fun treat, where my mom, boyfriend and I stumbled upon the Landing. We were excited for a quick meal and some good views across the Delaware.
While I wish I could give this place a more favorable review, this was a classic case of partially proficient service and questionable value superseding whatver positive attributes the food may have brought to the table, pun unintended.
To begin, we waited probably about 5-10 minutes after being seated before waitstaff noticed us and took our drink orders. We didn't order complicated things (a beer off one of the rotating taps and two club sodas with a splash of cranberry juice, and lime), but for some reason, it took another 10-15 minutes to get all three drinks, with some small errors (we had to ask again for lime). Following that, we placed our orders for food: calamari, black bean nachos, burger for the boyfriend and chicken wedge salads for mom and me (dressing on the side, of course).
The calamari was crispy and came with two sauces, one marinara, one mayo-based. The marinara was a bit watery and not as thick as I like for marinara sauce, so I preferred the one with the mayo-based. The black bean nachos were delicious, with perfectly crunch chips, well-cooked black beans, creamy melted cheese, and enough fixings (pico, guac, crema) to cover every bite. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger and fries (shape and taste-wise, they remind me of McDonald's fries if you ask the staff to double fry them), whereas my mother and I were a bit underwhelmed by our salads, with our chicken being a little on the dry side and the lettuce being a bit difficult to cut. If anything, we were more disappointed when we received the check and got some sticker shock-- $20 for wedge salads with chicken. Needless to say, we were annoyed, both at the price point and the slow service.
Luckily for us, there are plenty of wonderful restaurants and eateries in sleepy little New Hope, so whenever we'll be back in town, we'll know not to come here again.
