The 18 Best Beer Gardens In London - London - The Infatuation

"One of the most underrated miracles of the everyday is walking into a packed pub garden at the exact moment a table gets up to leave. We can’t guarantee that’s what will happen to you at The Landor in Clapham, but it’s got benches, booths, and trees galore, so you can usually find a spot to perch. This is one of those big, done-up, evening-engulfing pub gardens, where you should arrive around midday, with the potential for an air of disgrace come last orders." - jake missing, daisy meager, heidi lauth beasley

The Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants In London

"This Clapham pub has a huge—we mean huge—pub garden, and it’s the perfect spot for when you want to have a proper boozy laugh with your dog in tow. We’ve been here for countless birthdays over the years, and even if it’s pissing it down, the pub garden (which has a bit of cover) always has the energy of a sunny bank holiday—it’s basically XOYO for your dog. But if you’d rather stay bone dry—see what we did there?—dogs are also very welcome inside. Hungry? Get the buttermilk chicken burger. Where To Drink Outside With Lots Of Space

The Landor Review - Clapham - London - The Infatuation

"One of the greatest and most underrated miracles of the everyday is walking into a packed pub garden at the exact, precise, moment a table gets up to leave. What could have been an hour of twitchy drinking and intensely staring at people having a good time, suddenly turns into instantaneous joy and comfort. This is what we’ve felt at The Landor, and it’s made all the better by the fact that this is one of the best gardens in London. Hands down. It’s big, welcoming, and has a friendly atmosphere. This is, undoubtedly, the best thing food and drink related to have happened in Clapham since Ainsley Harriott." - Jake Missing

Having frequented the Landor over a number of years; I can confidently say this is my favourite pub in Clapham! It boasts a large selection of beers, wines and spirits. Great changing menu. Friendly attentive staff and a lovely sun trap beer garden. A must visit when in Clapham

Beautiful beer garden, light and airy inside nicely kitted out. Happy hour house lager under a fiver; happy days.

The staff treat you like an inconvenience and are very rude. The pub was basically empty but it still took ages to be served. When a staff member did finally arrive they didn’t even smile. When I’ve been in during the Sunday night quiz they have prioritised their friends at the bar. I’ve come to this pub for years but won’t be coming any longer.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had at a pub. From the moment we walked in, the staff were rude, unwelcoming, and completely lacking in any basic manners or professionalism. No greeting, no conversation, just cold stares like we were an inconvenience. We even overheard one younger male member of staff making snide comments under his breath about his opinion of customers — incredibly unprofessional and uncomfortable to witness, especially when about a female. Every drink purchased from the bar felt like it was received as a personal insult to the barman, huffing, puffing and complaining under his breath. Even slamming drinks down on the bar and being aggressive to a female member of the group when she simply asked for a dash more lemonade in a lager top, to call this barman a “hospitality” worker would be a insult to the rest of the industry.

Very disappointing experience – would not return We had a reservation at this pub on 10 May to celebrate my birthday. We spent a significant amount that evening, but unfortunately the experience was ruined by the behaviour of the staff. At one point, we stepped outside to help one of our guests get an Uber, and upon returning, the security guard refused to let my mother back in. She was not excessively drunk – no more than anyone else enjoying a night out at the pub – and yet we, the hosts of the celebration, were left outside while our guests remained inside. We did not return to the party, which was incredibly embarrassing and upsetting. To make matters worse, one of the bar staff looked visibly disgusted every time we approached the bar, which made us feel very unwelcome. In my 17 years living in London and regularly visiting pubs, this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. I’ve already sent an email and received only a minimal reply, with no real resolution or apology. If you’re considering visiting this place, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue that prioritises customer care and basic respect.

Google
Horribly understaffed, and while the staff were friendly, 4 staff on an incredibly busy Friday night led to waiting times of over half an hour, and quality to match (poorly poured pints and hot glasses fresh from the washer). Management should take note and pay their staff better to attract more workers

Google
Great service from a host of friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Huge selection of popular and local craft Ice cold beers & ciders, including well conditioned cask ales. fantastic food menu updated seasonally. As it was summer time we sat in the massive garden and had lamb kofas, prawns and delicious chicken wings fresh off the Bbq washed down with pints of Pravha

Yelp
I Came here to experience the authentic British pub vibe and this place did not disappoint. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and this pub offers a variety of food and drinks. Overall The Landor offers excellent service and great food.

Yelp
Great pub! Great atmosphere. We went to watch the rugby. The female bouncer however was very unnecessarily rude and had us queuing 45 minutes even though loads of people were leaving. Extremely discourteous and impolite to anyone who asked questions. Not a good look for such a nice pub.

Yelp
Ive recently been exploring the world of South London, so I went to this pub after a recommendation. The structure of the room is a bit strange so it feels like it has many different rooms but when you think about it it's just one with lots of twists and turns. There is a lot of space and a pool table at the back, as well as couches and screens to watch the football. For me the general feel was more of an old man pub but because of the area it attracts all ages. Once I checked in I found there was a 10% off deal which I told the staff about as they had no idea. After a little effort to explain what the deal meant they simply took my word for it and assumed that a manager must have made the agreement. The beer was ok and there was a decent selection, however they did forget that my friend had ordered chips so half an hour later we went and asked. They apologised and 10 minutes later there were chips! Personally I wouldn't go back to this place, and I don't think that it's a place you have to go out of your way to go to, however as it's very close to my friend's house I might have to go back simply because it's convenient.

Yelp
Came here for lunch while on vacation in London. Bar staff was friendly enough and the place has a pool table and a few board games to pass the time. It's refreshingly open inside - you're not sitting on top of other patrons and it's not super dark. Really good, casual vibe. The burger and chips weren't amazing, but fine pub food (two of us actually shared and both left satisfied) but be warned that the kitchen closes for lunch at 3 (at least during the week - not sure if that differs on the weekends). It's also worth mentioning that they'll run the food out to you when it's ready, but you'll want to walk up to the bar to order. Another reviewer mentioned the steak sandwich. Both of the bartenders were having one as we left, which seems like a good sign that it's a winner. I think I'd go for that if I were to return!

Yelp
So the other half and I came here for dinner before seeing a play in the theatre upstairs. The show started at 7:30, we arrive at 6:30. Seems like it should be a reasonable time to get food. Also the place doesn't seem that busy. We order. Now, the menu did warn us that the baked Camembert would take 15 minutes. So we were prepared. But we figured we'd still be okay. We figured incorrectly. After about 35 minutes of waiting for our starter after we ordered, we asked someone about our food. The response was, "There's a backlog in the kitchen". (Whatever that means.) Now by this time we've seen about 6 plates of food come out. That's it. It seems that the kitchen can't handle a lot of orders at once. We finally managed to get them to bring food, and of course it came all together. Which we were actually happy about at this point because we had about 15 minutes before the show was supposed to start. We had to eat quickly. However, the food was really great for a pub. I had the lamb burger with chili sauce and Halloumi cheese, and it was hot and tasty, and not overcooked and tough like many lamb burgers can be. The chips were well done and tasty, although a tad on the cold side (which was strange given the burger was blazing hot). If I was coming to see another show, I'd definitely eat here again, although I might try to get there earlier given the slow kitchen. The only reason this place doesn't get four stars is because of the time. A kitchen should be able to coordinate and organize to be able to handle orders. However, if I were in the area and wanted a good pub dinner, and wasn't concerned about the time, I'd be back here as the food was really, really tasty.

Yelp
A fantastic pub between Clapham and Brixton, this is not only a great watering hole but a theatre as well. I've visited here on many a hungover Sunday to feast on their huge, delicious roasts. There's a vast beer garden, so it's especially lovely here in the summer months, although outside is heated so if you can brave a nip in the air, it's always lovely to be outdoors with your pint. The theatre upstairs is fantastic, with a varied and high quality programme of plays throughout the year. Ticket prices range from £5-£12, the theatre is cosy, and i love the setting of a pub being a platform for the arts.

Yelp
Always bustling, big screen for games, good selection of drinks, decent prices, awesome back garden, and usually friendly staff. Pool table and board games if you're feeling playful too! 2 for 1 burger night is a great deal for tasty burgers and I hear the rest of their food is quite good. Especially the Sunday roast!

Yelp
This is one of the better known theatre bars in London and deservedly so. The bar itself is large and is not restrictive to a theatre loving audience as it attracts many old locals. Their drinks prices are good and their bar snacks and food are of good price and quality that, should you find yourself here, you won't be disappointed whilst not being particularly amazed. As for the theatre space, it is a great little space. It is popular with many of the drama schools graduate year shows as well as other notable new companies and writing. It can seat a good number of people and actually is a reputable name for new musicals etc so can get get good turn out and reactions from agents and producers.

Yelp
Am really feeling this place. Love the decor and layout. I went there for the first time before Christmas and it really got me into the festive spirit. It's just off the main high street, so doesn't get overly busy at peak time (apart from when the footie or rugby is on). Lots going on there too. Singer on Friday nights are always good. Food is not bad either. Worth giving it a go - selection of beer and wine is good.

Yelp
We used to live around the corner from the Landor and called it our local. The lazyman's night out - you can come here for a couple of beers or stay the whole night! It's inviting, large and has a good selection on tap. They've got pool tables too. In the summer the huge garden is a treat and it practically doubles the capacity of this place. Best thing about the Landor? It's monthly pub quiz. It's a tough one - the questions don't get any easier and nor do the rivalries between the regular teams. We once knocked 'Quizteam Aguilea' down into 3rd and were bought a round of drinks by their closest rivals who had won it! All in good banter though. I've never been to the theatre, but I know many who have and rave about it.

Yelp
As others have mentioned, a real pub. The Landor is by far my favourite pub for a few laid back beers, they also show most major sports! If you stop by be sure to check out the Chicken Wings **salivating**.

Yelp
I love this pub! It has been done up really well and there is massive beer garden out the back with lots of comfy lounge chairs. Staff are really friendly and the food is fantastic. Great pub for after work drinks or a lazy Sunday.

Yelp
This is a real pub located in a mostly residential area. It is relaxed, serves good food and pulls good real ales brought in from quality brewers outside London. It is equipped with a pool table, comfortable seating, and an outdoor area. It is also has a theatre upstairs. Years ago, when I lived in the area, the pub was my favourite local. I returned very recently to find that they still make great steak and chips. The steak is very good. The chips are close to the best ever...especially if you like the ones that are a bit bashed or slapped around (and possibly yelled at) before frying to endow them with extra crispy bits. Good to see things are still in order.

Yelp
went here with friends the other day. mixed group of guys and girls - girls played scrabble (love that they had board games up for grabs!) and guys watched the football match on the giant drop down screen. there is an outdoor area as well. had a great time. would go back.

Yelp
I love the Landor. It is a friendly local pub with really nice landlords and staff. They've just gone through a refurb and they're now offering sofas, a weekly comedy night and pub quiz, and there is still a great (partially covered) outside space. The bar snacks are great (go for chips, spicy chips, chicken strips or cod goujons - the chicken wings and homemade pork crackling are not so good) and the burgers are divine. They also do homemade sorbet and icecream. There is a great selection of drinks and reasonable prices and they've just started doing cocktails and champagne cocktails. It still has that local vibe though. NB - sometimes to be avoided on football nights (if that's not your thing).
