Sandwiches, salads, smoothies & juices at a long-running, vegetarian-friendly spot.
"This tiny Coconut Grove classic has been making healthy salads and sandwiches for about 50 years and already outlived numerous trendy franchises. Their pitas are stuffed with so many vegetables, they tend to split open—so try not to wiggle with joy when you eat them. There are tons of vegan and vegetarian options, but we like the white chicken salad pita. They also have wonderful smoothies, fresh juices, and wheatgrass shots. Seating is sparse, but there’s a diner-style counter, a few stools by the window, and a couple of tables." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer
"The Last Carrot is a little family-owned spot that’s been operating in Coconut Grove since the ’70s. They have some counter seating good for solo dining and a few small tables—both inside and outdoors. They serve veggie pitas, smoothies, and small mountains of vegetables they call a salad. It’s a decent option for a post-workout meal or a quick work lunch where you and your coworker can say mean things about your boss over an avocado pita." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

"This longstanding Coconut Grove health food spot has become a staple for lunch-goers for years now, offering a selection of healthy wraps, sandwiches, and salads, which come in both vegetarian and carnivore-friendly options. But whatever is ordered, make sure it’s ordered with plenty of green sauce — aka Last Carrot’s herb dressing — that has a cult following of its own." - Olee Fowler
