Cool little gallery and shop with eclectic work and a great vibe. Worth a trip out towards the coast for the experience.

Marge has retired and closed her shop. However, I spoke to her today and she confirmed that she has sold the business to her relatives. I will always remember this charming store, and my wife has many pieces to remember it by.

Google
This is such a special store. It’s right near the beach so it’s easy to stop by and get a pair of earrings and get a togo snack at the fresh food restaurant next-door. The Last Straw is one of those cool stores that you just don’t see anymore. It’s a small cottage filled with treasures. Marge the owner has been operating there for decades. She has amazing taste and she incorporates local artists creations. If you love sterling silver jewelry, purses, scarves, and want to see a part of San Francisco that is magical then you need to stop by!!

Google
A delightful place to shop. Jewelry of all descriptions and price ranges plus lovely soaps, scarves and garments... only made possible by the charming Marge, who has weathered all the changes of the City with her inherent grace.

Google
I love this little piece of heaven. Marge Heard always has something interesting, whether you like incredibly fragrant french soap, artisanal jewelry with every kind of colored stone, or lovely hand wrought copper candlesticks, you will not be disappointed.

Google
Great little gift shop with an Eclectic selection something for everyone. Jewelry, candlesticks, clothing, soaps, lotions and much more. Hand-knit things. Children's clothing, baby hats, diaper covers all packed into a small but well appointed space

Google
Great small local jewelry store. Marge the owner is awesome ... Her selection has improved as well. Always good to see Marge

Yelp
I was in town and looking forward to my visit to the Last Straw but it was closed! For good reason-- Marge has retired and closed her shop. However, it looks like she may have sold the business to someone else as there is a note on the door with that person's contact information. I will always remember this charming store and have many pieces to remember it by. I will try to visit if and when it reopens as a new business. I really loved Marge's taste in jewelry and will miss her and the Last Straw.

Yelp
Some aggressively ugly art and vintage trinkets, but ultimately the corporate schwag deck of cards from Kaiser priced at $30 was (insert shop name)

Yelp
Love, love, lovey this place where you can find so many trinkets whether it be bracelets, earrings, lotions and other things. It's a cash only business and well worth going in to check out. Check the hours before heading here. The proprietor of the store is a very sweet woman.

Yelp
Situated across from 3Fish studio in the sunset district, the Last Straw is a tiny super cute studio with lots of tiny drawers with super cute earrings, combs, oxen horn bangles, French soaps and creams (organic I think) etc. Prices were $$ Proprietor was sweet!

Yelp
@ Marge's gorgeous Outer Sunset gift shop houses the work of local artisans - local artisan pottery, hand crafted knits, quilts, & beautifully handmade jewelry, etc! Marge knows the artisans she represents well & oh yeah, only accepts checks and cash. I went into browse and left with some beautiful handcrafted locally made gifts.

Yelp
What an amazing little store I highly recommend you check it out great selection of jewelry and gifts Good prices too!

Yelp
Very cute shop and the shopkeeper is very nice and helpful! Eclectic collection of items and all pretty reasonably priced. Tons of jewelry, stationary, soaps and Knick knacks

Yelp
Sweetest tiny shop! Lovely friendly owner named Marge. Handmade baby gifts. Handmade soaps. Handmade pottery. Handmade tea towels. And more. But the star of the show is by far the jewelry - for men and women! The front of the shop is packed with jewelry in such an organized fashion in little drawers - you just keep finding more and more like a treasure box. I bought a beautiful ring and a cute handmade bib for my friend's new baby for less than $100! And Marge wrapped the bib in paper with a sprig of dried flowers when I went away to grab cash - aww! It's so Sunset-y and unique and worth stopping by to check out.

Yelp
I happened to be in the neighborhood and noticed the cute items on display and went inside - I left with a ton of cute jewelry! There was a variety of styles and handmade jewelry from local artists as well as all over the world. The store is very tiny and full of unique gifts, jewelry, cards, accessories, soaps, and even some clothes and linens. Lots of items at various price points, too, so I found it pretty easy to find a few not-too-expensive gifts as well as a splurge item for myself. Excellent customer service - the shop owner is friendly and not at all pushy. A few other shoppers stopped in while I was there and they all seemed to live in the neighborhood and know the owner pretty well. The store has been there for 40 years! This store only accepts cash and check. There is an ATM at a convenience store 1 block away. I suggest bringing a checkbook if you're shopping for fun or for gifts. I hadn't planned on spending so much, and don't carry a checkbook with me, so the shop owner held my items at the counter while I took a quick walk to get cash from the ATM.

Yelp
This is my favorite shop to buy jewelry for my wife and it's my wife's favorite place to receive jewelry from. Marge, who has run the shop for 35 years and lives in the cottage in the yard, is charming just like her shop. A true hidden gem.

Yelp
I ADORE this place. My mom has been going here for about 20 years now and it's just a dream. It's in a little home with all types of jewelry and different trinkets. The items are either handmade or come from places all over the world. The owner is friendly and a pleasure to do business with. Prices are on the higher side, but the jewelry is unique and one-of-a-kind.

Yelp
The Last Straw is a tiny little store that's all the way out in the Outer Sunset, not too far from the Mollusk Surf Shop. If you walk up to it, it just look like an adorable little shack but it is filled with treasures inside. It's also close to the Cajun restaurant if you want to make an afternoon out of it. It's a lovely, quiet neighborhood, about two blocks from Ocean Beach. The owner is sweet and patient and is glad to help, if you need to find the perfect gift for that special lady in your life. She has a huge collection of beautiful jewelry, some knick-knacks, baby stuff, bath & body products and perfume in the back. The store is very small but you're sure to find something pretty if you take the time to look through all the nooks and crannies.

Yelp
Hospitality. The woman has fabulous taste and a rare sense of community and hospitality. No credit cards? I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to get my socks and fingerless gloves I had fallen in love with. No problem. "You can pay me later, come back or send me a check." Wow. I was hesitant, probably just from the shock of the trust and hospitality that this woman was naturally beaming. My friend said, "How dare you trust me more that I trust myself." Ha! Well, I sent a check as soon as I got home, and frankly, I think I love the socks and fingerless gloves even more. Fabulous jewelry and absolutely reasonable prices. Found many beautiful sterling rings that I will go back for that were unique and affordable. Thank you Last Straw!

Yelp
I was on my way to Mollusk Surf Shop one day when I felt a physical and emotional pull into this shop. It was shimmering with positive energy and joy. As soon as I walked in a saw why -- Marge, and her beautifully-curated jewelry, blankets, charms, soaps, purses, and other trinkets. Marge has been in business for 40 years, and it's obvious why. She's amazing. And her shop is adorable. And she takes IOUs, in case you don't have cash on you (like me). How sweet. Will be back!

Yelp
My mom likes to buy things for my sister and I, and I usually try to dissuede her, but when she offers to buy me a gift from The Last Straw, I cannot resist. In a tinee, tiny yellow house on Irving Street down by the beach, one woman sells jewelry and gifts. The jewelry is either pinned on the wall, or in shallow drawers organized by color and gemstone. Her selection is dazzling featuring high quality metals, and lovely designs. The back rooms also have gifts. The style of the merchandise is largely earthy and mature, but everything is so beautiful that I'm sure anyone could find the perfect item for themselves or as a gift.

Yelp
Love, love, love this wonderful store and the nice women who work there. Beautiful things and a warm atmosphere.

Yelp
Worth the drive out to Ocean Beach if you're craving a trinket or two. Lots of different styles of jewelry from a variety of artists and it's all tucked away in sets of small shallow drawers so it feels like more of a discovery when you find the right piece. The woman who owns the place is very pleasant. she's ready to help you find what you need but not at all pushy. Great place to buy a gift. Oh, and no credit cards, bring cash.

Yelp
Marge is such a doll. I love to browse around her wonderful shop to find hidden treasures! From the body lotions, soaps, to the amazing jewelry, this shop has a nice selection of gifts!

Phoebe D.

Yelp
Super cute store! Everything is reasonably priced & they have a range of products. 90% of it is made in the usa. Run by a super sweet lady who knows everything about what she's selling. I love this place!

Yelp
What a gem of a little boutique!! Marge has been in this adorable little cottage shop for over 40 years! She's clearly doing something right. There are loads of lovely little treasures, including lots of great jewelry, much of it locally made, hand knitted/crocheted accessories, fun cards, beautiful baskets, and yummy smelling soaps and lotions. It's probably a good thing she's not open on Sundays, so I can really only do some damage to my bank account on one weekend day! (And to think I might not ever have known if we hadn't moved to the Sunset! Lucky us!)

Yelp
This is a good place to buy gifts for people and especially the women in your life. The lady who owns the place (who will be sitting at the front reading a book when you enter the door) has run this store for over 30 years. If you are a good customer, she'll put up with your bullshit and direct you to an assortment of different jewelry, perfumes, soaps, handbags, vases, etc. that are interesting, unique and detract from the nihilism of everyday life. Give your business to the local mom and pop instead of some corporate store and get some unique gifts. I would give this 5 stars but the vases are kind of spendy.

Yelp
A really cute little cottage houses a variety of unique gifts. The owner is very pleasant, relax, and helpful when you need her. All are well priced and reasonable for the quality. She has big handmade selections of jewelry, soap, baskets from all nations (mostly Asian), knitted or felted hats for adults and babies. I love her one of a kind handmade children toys from local artists, Peru, Russia... She also had a big selection of greeting cards and some natural fiber clothes. This place is definitely my favorite place to shop for local handmade one of kind gifts. Support the local!

Yelp
So...I am biking from Java Beach Cafe and I see this little white store out of the corner of my eye. I go inside and I discover these little stuffed rabbits that are like $14 dollars. They are handmade by a 75 year old woman. A middle aged Asian woman tells me that these may be the last rabbits because the lady that makes them is sick. The rabbits are small and incredibly detailed. I bought two identical rabbits. I bought one for a friend and one for me. Last time I checked there were only two left. 50% of the products in this store are made in San Francisco even the jewelry, baskets, soaps, and clothing. I still can't figure out the name of the store. The owner of the store makes the baskets by hand. Duhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Yelp
This shop is so cute! Marge is a lovely person and she has great items for yourself or gifts. I bought some earrings that are so cute. This is a perfect store to get gifts for women.

Yelp
Whenever I or my family visit San Francisco, we come here! Absolutely magical experience, looking through every little piece. The best place for gifts!

Yelp
Lovely little store... been a patron for years... great variety and the grandma vibe owner is sweet,,,, she has even given me credit! but not with a card, only my word to repay her. I would have given 5 stars for this review, however i have had some struggle getting jewelry repaired or replaced when they break. Perhaps that's part of the grandma vibes too!

Yelp
I have been frequenting this amazing little shop for years now, which I only found out about from a friend (it's way out by the ocean!) I come for gifts often as well as jewelry for myself. It's very tiny, but Marge has the little jewelry display cases with multiple flat drawers--it's such fun to find so many layers of fantastic pieces (she has wonderful taste and is incredibly sweet.) If you're from out of town and want to find great local items to take back as presents, this is your place! (Especially if jewelry is on your list.)

Yelp
Such a beautiful little shop filled with wonderous things. Marge is such a sweet lovely person. My friends and I were delighted. :) Thank you!

Danielle B.

Yelp
This shop is truly one-of-a-kind. If you are looking for a unique, beautiful gift, or classy souvenirs from the city, you must visit this store. Marge has impecable taste and her personalized gift wrapping makes everything even more worthwhile. Even if you are not staying in the area, Golden Gate park is 1 block away, close to the windmills, the ocean is 3 blocks away, and nearby Cliff House is a fantastic place for brunch or dinner. Make an afternoon of it! You won't regret!

Yelp
What a darling little shop! While visiting my son in the Outer Sunset District, I stumbled upon this gem. The owner is very pleasant and has many unique items of all prices. If I weren't concerned about checked baggage costs for the trip home I'm sure I could have spent alot more than I did. This shop will be on my list for every return trip to San Francisco.

Heather b.

Yelp
If you want to treat yourself or a friend/loved one to a perfect gift or unique piece of jewelry you must find marge sitting in her little shop in the outer sunset. Local artists mixed with gifts from afar, always a new treasure to find. You will not be disappointed, but instead will keep going back.

Lauris J.

Yelp
Gosh, wrote a review before but it disappeared into the mist! An amazing shop, tiny and filled with wonderful items selected with care and taste. A terrific jewelry selection and those artists whose works are also in the likes of the Sundance catalog are here at a more civilized price. Marge never gouges...she is honest and has a great eye for quality. Her store's environment is rather like a balm. I imagine there might be other special little stores like this peppered around the city but I don't know of them...I think Marge and her shop are beyond measure. She's off the beaten path in any number of ways, all of them good.

Jen C.

Yelp
This store is so, so sweet. It's an old, delightful little house near the sea, filled with romantic, irresistible treasures, most of which are handmade by Bay Area artisans. Marge, the owner, has created a magical little shop that is a must see for all San Franciscans! Fantastic jewelry, natural soaps and lotions, glass and ceramic sculptures, woven baskets and bowls, origami mobiles, bohemian leather bags, precious handmade children's animals and figurines, cards, and other perfect gifts...

Melissa M.

Yelp
This is a singularly charming store. I stumbled across it, and couldn't resist going in to have a looksy -- or buying a beautiful semi-precious stone ring. Marge, the owner, is so nice and has an amazing eye for picking jewelry and treasures. This is a unique place and a total home run for finding lovely gifts.

Maggie M.

Yelp
This is a great place to find beachy jewelry, scarves, and nice soaps. Great for gifts for others or to treat yourself. The store is very cozy. The owner does a simple, earthy gift box with raffia for you or you can purchase these little embroidered drawstring linen bags( around $3-4.00) to put your lovely tripled milled soap in. I always get rave reviews from my friends on the gifts I have picked up at this store.

T Y.

Yelp
Such a wonderful store. So well merchandised. I got two pair of hand made earrings at an amazing price. And I got a recommendation for where to go for lunch. I will be back.

Molly P.

Yelp
Love this special store and owner. Marge may be the heart of San Francisco. Her items are lovely.

jim m.

Yelp
A great place. Very non-commercial. All sorts of artisan hand made goods that are often perfect ideas for gifts. No other place like this.

Viola B.

Yelp
The Last Straw is the most charming little shop and garden! This place opened up close to 38 years ago in what is now quite the hot neighborhood. It is in the perfect spot not far from the Ocean Beach Dunes and beach. It is located right by Mollusk Surf Shop and 3 Fish Studios and not far from Outerlands Restaurant and the General Store. Totally worth it. The front of the shop is filled with wooden drawers of jewelry of all kinds; pearls, gemstone, sterling silver, copper, etc. There are ranges of styles as well. You will definitely find something if you take the time to look through. It is organized really well. It's like going through a treasure chest. I found several really unique things for myself and for gifts. In addition to the jewelry, the back room has the most wonderful smelling soaps and shea butter lotions, greeting cards, wallets, knit gloves and hats and the cutest art smocks for kids. The prices are fair and reasonable for the good quality items. I always try to shop local when I can and this shop and owner are just a pleasure. So friendly! You don't come across little gems like this often, let alone in the city. Go out and visit this place. It is perfect and in the perfect place!!!

Yan K.

Yelp
i absolutely adore this gem of a shop! marge, the owner and operator, is a genuinely kind, generous soul filled with love and light. she has an exceptional eye for picking out distinctive, exceptional inventory: hand-crafted jewelry and accessories. i spent about 3 hours in her lovely company surrounded by my love, gorgeous jewelry, on my recent visit. marge, thank you very much for my treasures and the lovely, inspiring chat we had! God bless you!
