Fantastic restaurant and bar! Gouda burger with sauce on the side was a homerun. Awesome bartender, very clean, lots of seating and huge patio. I don't give out 5 stars across the board but this place nailed it! Highly recommend.

BEN LEE

Google
Loved the veggie options here! Food was yummy and price was reasonable. Recommend the Cobb salad without the bacon, the mushroom soup, the Mac and cheese ( a little sweet and spicy), and the Showstopper Pizza. Service was excellent and friendly, and I highly recommend this place!

Google
Jonathan L. was fantastic, I appreciate the taste test of the draft beers. Fish and chips were great. Pizza was meh. Drink prices from the $4 root beer to the $11 mixed drink seemed a bit high for the overall vibe but tolerable. Weather prohibited sitting outside but we would have preferred the well-sized patio because it was pretty loud inside and a challenging “L” shape was created to seat our party of 12. Would visit again.

Google
Great stop. I think we just chose the wrong things. We were focused on more snack type foods since we weren't that hungry. The Brussels sprouts were amazing!

Jayna Patel

Google
I walked over to this place today and while the restaurant was jam packed, they were able to accommodate me. There was a large group event in most of the outside so I chose to sit inside. The mocktail I ordered was delicious and not too sweet. I also ordered a side salad and the chicken rigatoni and they were both great! The food did take an extremely long time to be served. I spent over 40min waiting for my dinner. Outside of that, everything was great and I’d come back again.

Google
First of all right when you walk in, you feel very welcome. Everyone was very upbeat and working hard. We got awesome service from our waiter. I think his name was Charles. My food was absolutely excellent! I even bought a shirt from the restaurant. Mostly because I didn't want to wear a sweater anymore and I was visiting from out of town haha! I definitely will be back though😍

Google
The pizza and Brussels were delicious but the wild song fettuccine had lots of little pieces of onion that were not so great 😑

Google
We liked this place, but didn't love it. Our main problem was that we weren't allowed to sit at shady tables because of their staff assignments. So much shade on a hot July day and we couldn't have any. We also thought the food was variable. When it was good, it was VERY good. And nothing was terrible. But we have a few notes. The green goddess salads were great, but the dressing needed to be seasoned with s&p. The cauli appetizer had great flavor, but the cheese came out in a lump in the middle of the plate. We still ate it ALL. Steak sandwich had too much bread, the ends didn't have any meat. Those pot roast sliders, though... they were FIRE! Fish and chips - I wish I had it again today. I will go back, for sure!! Shout out to our server, they couldn't have been better!

Maureen O.

Yelp
We had a group of 8 including children. We sat on the shaded patio. Service was friendly and prompt. Particular favorites were the BBQ Chicken flatbread and pizza. Three of us ordered the Chicken Rigatoni which I think was loosely based on Chicken Riggies, the famous local dish of Utica NY. Great cream sauce on the pasta, with a little heat. Unfortunately - 2 pieces of very thin mushroom and 3 tiny pieces of cubed chicken was the average for each of our plates. Dramatic enough we all noticed and compared plates! Maybe the cook made a mistake? Otherwise, fun dinner experience.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food overall, but seating was an issue, we weren't allowed to sit in the shade on a hot July day due to staff table assignments. Food was hit or miss: green goddess salads were fresh but under-seasoned, and the cauliflower app had flavor but poor presentation. Steak sandwich had too much bread. But the pot roast sliders? Incredible. Fish and chips were excellent too. We'll be back for those!

Yelp
Food was really good! Busy place- it was hopping! Make reservations!! Upscale sports bar

Yelp
Went with family on Friday night of a football weekend. Arrived at five, got a table right away for five people sitting on the patio. Service was awesome. Good menu options. Cauliflower curds were somewhat disappointing, but brussels sprouts were great, pizza was good. Harvest bowls were good, however, the difference between a large bowl and a small bowl seems to be only the volume of lettuce. Definitely need more grains in bowls. Still, I recommend this place.

Yelp
Amazing experience- responsive and attentive bar tender plus great drinks and food. All in a relaxed but friendly atmosphere. What mor could you want from a pub? *** was friendly and provided recommendations that were spot on. Highly recommend if you are anywhere near! There is dedicated parking just behind, if street parking is limited when you come.
google avatar

Jan K.

Yelp
If this place has a parking lot, we could not find it. We ended up parking on the street a few blocks away. The bar area looks extremely nice, yet the dining area is more of a diner vibe so that was a weird combo. The Lauber was not busy upon our arrival as we stopped for a late lunch on a Monday, yet the waiter stood awkwardly far away from the table to take our order so it felt like we were shouting our order at him. I had the prime melt with loaded fries. The meat in the melt was anything but "prime", it was tough, chewy & dry. The loaded fries were just doused in sauce so I picked at the fries along the edge to avoid the majority that were soaked in goop. My husband's butcher town pizza was marginally better, but that's not saying much.
google avatar

Luna L.

Yelp
loved our waitress she was so cool. the mediterranean salad is exactly what you would expect. prime melt was good while hot but got too chewy really fast

Yelp
A great choice for gatherings. We made reservations for a group of 10 on Sunday around 11:30. It wasn't very busy and they were able to provide one big table where we could all sit. They have plenty of seating both inside and outside, 2 large tables for bigger gatherings. We liked that there were portion size choices available for a lot of the items on the menu. For example the pizza, you can order either a 12 inch or a 16 inch pizza. The Mac and cheese and the salads were also available in different portion sizes. The bigger portion is enough to share. We tried the Mac and cheese, the beef sliders, the Southern Cobb the Show Stopper pizza and the Fish and Chip. Everything was delicious. I would order any of these again. Service was good and the food came out fairly fast.

Yelp
The place was packed but they accommodated me. The mocktail, side salad, and chicken rigatoni were all great, though my dinner took over 45 minutes. Still, I'd definitely come back!

Yelp
You could literally follow your nose to the restaurant, the aroma was incredible. And the food? Even better! The Green Goat pizza was absolutely delicious, and my Ultimate Brunch Bloody Mary hit the spot. My friend had the mac and cheese, and it was not only tasty but came in a huge bowl.
google avatar

Liam C.

Yelp
What an amazing brunch experience! The menu offers so many fun and adventurous options, and everything we tried was absolutely next level. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and quick. If you visit during brunch, I highly recommend the chicken and biscuits.
google avatar

Yelp
These might have been the best sliders I've ever had! The meat was so tender and juicy. The fries were great too. It was a bit loud even at lunch, but our server was great and we had a good meal!
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, huge portions. We came here for lunch and got a variety of items and all of them were large, but really tasty. They have a big bar area and a lot of seating in the very industrial looking building. The servers were very friendly and accommodating she seemed as if she had too many tables and didn't get back as often as we would've liked, but when she did get there, she was very nice and got us what we needed quickly. Prices were a little high, but for the quantity and quality of food, it didn't seem totally out of range. I got macaroni and cheese with chicken on it, the macaroni was creamy and very cheesy, it had a full chicken breast as well, with a crispy outer crust on it. We also got fish and chips, it was crispy, excellent, white fish, and crispy salty fries. We got one drink a Mojito, and she said it was excellent, a lot of alcohol in it, not cutting corners.

Yelp
Desperately looking for a delicious meal and not wanting to settle for overpriced boring food. This sounded close and had some alternative options. First, let me say, we went for the pizza... but the tastiest food I had was the Greek salad!!!! Something about the pearl couscous or the pepitas... just screamed my kind of food. We walked through the Biergarten, filled with picnic tables, pretty lights and garage doors leading into the dining room. Our server was very attentive- especially since my husband loves to over drink his tea! We also ordered the Green Goat!!! Filled a arugula, pesto, goat cheese... all good things! We don't live in South Bend, but we do visit, and I hope to see them again! Even bought a cute tshirt!

Yelp
We came here after we played Tennis for a few hours. We ordered a thin crust pizza ( that size is the only way you could order it ) , 16 inch. Pepperoni is always a favorite. We had a few drinks as we sat at the bar. The lady bar keep was a very pleasant person. Filled us in on the menu and drinks. The restaurant is a good size and can accommodate large groups of people. Outside area also to dine. Parking is abundant around the restaurant. We dined and dashed as it was early afternoon, we had a few other places to go . I would come back here again for dinner. Will update my review when I do.

Yelp
While in Indiana I was on a breaded pork tenderloin crusade. I had recently found what I still claim to be the best BPT I've ever eaten, so the Lauber had a lot to live up to. Unforunately, they didn't. The tenderloin sandwhich was not what one would expect for a Hoosier pork tenderloin. It was very small. It also seemed more like a fritter than a loin sandwhich. The seasoning was under. All of that said, the fries were yummy. A friend got a pasta dish and it was HUGE. She said it was very good. The service was okay. It wasn't super fast, but they checked back frequently. The restaurant is much bigger on thd inside than it looks from outside. It was loud, but it was also very busy when we were there. I'd give The Lauber another chance if I ever get back that way. I was just choose something else on the menu because everything I saw looked good.

Yelp
Drinks were good - I got a cocktail and bf got a beer. They took a minute to make my cocktail for some reason but thats ok. I had the "French Kiss" which was nice. The food was decent, we had the dippity dough da w the ipa cheese and that was tasty. Took a while to come out but it was good. Then came the entrees, which for whatever reason took like over 20 minutes to come out, even though there was like 20 people on staff and maybe 2 tables sat in the entire place? Weird. All we got was the pot roast sliders and a pizza, which you'd think would be pretty quick but no such luck... sliders came out barely lukewarm. Pizza was tasty. All in all, waiter was a nice guy but service was lacking especially since the restaurant was EMPTY. All in all? An altogether decent experience but the prices were pretty high and service was slow... we may go elsewhere for lunch next time.

Yelp
Loved the veggie-friendly options! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend the Cobb salad (hold the bacon), mushroom soup, the sweet-and-spicy mac and cheese, and the Showstopper Pizza. Service was excellent and super friendly.

Melanie D.

Yelp
Ambience is nice and very pet-friendly place. There's a covered patio where pets can stay. Food is good. Servers are attentive and friendly.
google avatar

Mikey R.

Yelp
The vibe is good. Outside is a great place to sit. The chicken noodle soup was sooooo gooood. And our server was super nice and friendly.

Yelp
I was in south bend for work and wanted to check out something new for dinner, after some yelp research, I found the lauber, I'm glad I decided to check them out, it's a fun casual place for friends or a date, I had a delicious chicken sandwich, that was just the right amount of spice! As well as a tasty old fashioned and a local beer, all around great experience, and I can't wait to go back, awesome service as well.
google avatar

Brenda H.

Yelp
This is such a cool place. Ambiance is amazing. The old building just adds to the esthetics
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Not sure what out waiter was on but he felt the need to practically lay across the table every time he came by to check on us. Food came out mixed up. The pizza was pretty bomb.
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
Menu is diverse enough for options, but narrow enough to produce consistent quality. Good beer, wine & spirits selection. Food service was not fast, but not too slow. Good vibes.
google avatar

Kristen B.

Yelp
Great food & service! Good options for food & drink Indoor/outdoor seating--and they have their own parking area. A variety of TVs inside
google avatar

Ann H.

Yelp
We must have chosen poorly for this meal because our food selection, despite getting recommendations, wasn't as stellar as the reviews suggested. The prime melt was dry and flavorless. Would've preferred Portillo's. The Mac n cheese was fine. Appetizers were nice and unique. Our best item was the Brussels sprouts. We'd come back just for those.
google avatar

Yelp
My family members made reservations a few weeks in advance for this place for a Friday night (a night before the huge Notre Dame/Ohio St. Football game). The place was busy when we arrived, not quite as bad as we thought it would be (however later on when we left, their entire patio was completely full - they had live music about to start). As far as the food and service... food in my opinion was hovering around a 3.5/5. I don't know - my Oink pizza was just okay. I think adding the sweet sauce to it did not help the overall flavor of my pizza and in a way I regretted my order. My dad got the sandwich with au jus sauce and brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts were really good but he also said he wished he had gotten something elseS The rest of our group was content with their orders, but you could tell there wasn't much to rave about. I wish I had gotten the chicken rigatoni to be honest. Our server was nice and pretty quick overall. That was a plus. I feel like I wouldn't really come back here, but it's still somewhat of a solid choice if you're immediately in the area. I felt generous and kept this at a 4 star, but overall I'd rate it slightly lower if I could.

Jane S.

Yelp
For South Bend, a 3 star option. For elsewhere, a 2 star option. The service was great. The pizzas are okay and kind of a mix of tavern style and brick oven. It didn't feel solidly in either category which made it less tasty. The salads are fresh and the dressings are good, but the additional proteins you pay to add in were very underwhelming and subpar in preparation and flavor. The outdoor patio was very pleasant, and if you have a large group I could see this being a great choice for lots of pizzas and salads to share.

Shana W.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best meal I've had in quite a while. Great vibe, fun cocktails. We shared the dough bites. Love at first bite. I had the duo surf with salmon and shrimp. I've never had shrimp served as perfectly as these were! Definitely a restaurant worth returning to the next time we're in south bend.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
Awesome food and waitress was excellent. You must check this place out! Had sausage pizza, green goat pizza and she's not too spicy chicken sandwich. All were fantastic!
google avatar

Danielle W.

Yelp
The Lauber has something for everyone! They have a fantastic selection of delicious food and refreshing drinks. I love the vibe, especially the covered patio in the summer (can't wait for the construction to be done). Dog friendly so expect lots of adorable pups on the patio. Last night we ordered the Dippity Dough Da and Cauliflower + Curds to start - both fantastic choices. I ordered the Southern Cobb Bowl and added blackened chicken - it was absolutely fire! So fresh and light, exactly what I was looking for. Of course, I had to add a side of fries for good measure. I ordered the Blueberry Fields Forever signature cocktail, is it not the most gorgeous drink?
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
Prime melt was delicious, the au jus was good and I love the Giardiniera peppers on the side, really compliments it well. Steak seemed like pretty good quality to me and the au jus really gave it flavor. I also liked the beer battered fries. Good quality and food for what you get.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
We made reservations for 7pm on a Saturday night. We arrived early and they were able to seat us before 7pm, which we appreciated. Loved the vibes of the inside of the restaurant. The outdoor seating area looked super cute and comfy, but we had been out in the heat all day and couldn't bring ourselves to sit outside. We started with the Buffalo cauliflower curds and they were phenomenal. Loved the addition of the cheese on the cauliflower. We also had the pot roast sliders. They were phenomenal. My family liked them even without the demi dipping sauce. Perfect amount of meat, onion straws, cheese and so much flavor! My daughter and I shared the Mac and cheese. I wasn't expecting it to be spicy, but it was really good. Cheesy, not dry, and flavorful. My husband had the burger. We shared the blackberry shortcake for dessert and it was the perfect amount for three of us to share. The brown butter cake was superb. Also loved the vanilla bean ice cream instead of just a plain vanilla ice cream. Our server was very friendly. He was working really hard behind the bar as well. I highly recommend the Who spiked the punch drink! That sherbet cube in the drink brought it to another level. This was our favorite meal while in South Bend.
google avatar

Daniel P.

Yelp
Love coming to the Lauber to end the week. Great food and drinks and the bartenders are awesome!

Bob T.

Yelp
One the best restaurant I've been to in a long while! I'm from Portland and this has the Portland weird vibe! Our server was fantastic! Great service...great food

Chris G.

Yelp
Was in town for a car show and searched for restaurants nearby, The Lauber was in the close enough and good enough list. Unexpected great find. Place was very busy and we were told 20-25 minute wait (we didn't want to wait-but we understood as they had just seated a LARGE party of soccer kids) and we snagged a spot at the bar. Great bar service but even better, the food was all really good. The place was hopping and I can't wait to visit again when I'm Next in South Bend.
google avatar

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
We made reservations for a Saturday evening and found the table ready when we arrived. It's a fun and casual vibe, with a solid craft beer list. The menu offered many options from bowls to handhelds to pizza to entrees. We split a beet salad and goat cheese pizza and were pleased with the fresh vegetables and quality of the food. The beet salad includes mandarin oranges and pistachios, pairing well with the red and gold beets. The goat cheese pizza is topped with a lot of arugula and avocado slices. It's like a salad on top of a pizza. We definitely appreciated that as we're veggie lovers. Service is attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Kylie B.

Yelp
Just visiting the area and decided to try The Lauber tonight. The food was amazing, everyone at our table loved their dish and had a lot of options for vegetarian meals. From the salad to the burger everything had flavor and we cleaned out plates quick. Cocktails and beers were yummy and the wait staff were nice and helpful. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone and we will be back if we're ever in town!!
google avatar

Harry B.

Yelp
Good food. Good service Good people Good ambiance. So what? Good place to hang with friends or to bring family when in town. Good selection of pizza and other grub. They were busy and the place was hopping but the waitress was quick to take care of us. We had a group of 10 and it didn't even phase them. Look forward to going back. The menu looked good.
google avatar

Ashleigh P.

Yelp
Got in quickly on a Saturday evening. The food and drinks were delicious, and our server, Charles, was very attentive. We went with two other families, with kids at different tables, and Charles kept up on the three tabs seamlessly. He was friendly and funny while still doing an excellent job, and checked on us so often we started to wonder if he was being sarcastic. Overall, a fantastic experience and we would recommend it to anyone traveling to South Bend.

Mark Y.

Yelp
Brought our out of town guests here and we all enjoyed our meals. My second time at this restaurant but the first time inside. A fairly simple menu that even the kids enjoyed. Fries are delish. Two in the party had the restaurant week rigatoni, the prime melt with au jus and Gardiner mix (yum). The meat lovers pizza was very flavorful and also quite delish. Half portions were available and utilized. The service was decent and while not fast, it was fast enough. The vibe at The Lauber was quite good, modern, and hip while a bit loud. Overall a winner for sure. We'll be back.
google avatar

Jimmy R.

Yelp
We came into town for a work trip and stumbled into this place walking over the river. Walked in around lunchtime and the place was packed so we knew we were in the right spot. We ended up sitting at the bar and ordering the hummus, a few drinks and a pizza. Bartender was super friendly and the food was great. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Tiffany K.

Yelp
This place was awesome. It seemed newer in the area but it was my first time in Indiana so I'm not totally sure. Great atmosphere and menu. I got the show stopper on cauliflower crust with pepperoni and it was amazing, everyone who tried it at my table loved it. It was a good size for myself and to share a taste with a couple other people. If I ever go back to Indiana I will visit this place again! Also nice outdoor area that would be nice in the summertime. I wish they had outdoor fire pits to enjoy in the fall and spring.

Christopher L.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Expansive menu with standard favorites as well as more eclectic options.
google avatar

Billie K.

Yelp
This restaurant is very large and has a lot of seating. We did make reservations because there were several of us. We were seated promptly when we arrived. The atmosphere is very laid-back. Not an upscale place casual where is fine. Our food tasted decent. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing was scrumptious either.
google avatar

Janet K.

Yelp
Had a wonderful luncheon with my group 1/18/25, great food and we were attended to by a great server, Nelson. He gave us good suggestions, saw to it we had everything we needed and left us to our discussions. Alot of servers will interrupt discussions so frequently it becomes annoying. I tend to really appreciate having my dining experience respected like Nelson.
google avatar

De'Laka B.

Yelp
Delicious pizza, pastas and sandwiches. We sat on the side patio and enjoyed the evening. They play r&b music which surprised me in a good way. Cool lil spot.

Steve B.

Yelp
The pizza (Show Stopper) probably disappointed me the most ever for a pizza. The menu sets high expectations which quickly ended when the pizza arrived. The ingredients sound great. 1/3 of it didn't really have toppings. The crust seems mass-produced/premade. The whole thing was very soggy. Terrible. Decent beer selection and the cocktails looked pretty good but I didn't try.
