"The Lawns is a nearly entirely locals-only joint hidden in the forest at the foot of Table Mountain that unfortunately tends to fly under most first-time visitors’ radar. Don’t make that same mistake. Head here for spectacular views of Camps Bay accompanied by laid-back seating and a simple menu of South African fusion food—think deep-fried squid, Mediterranean chicken pizza, and Asian glazed buffalo wings. The sunset at The Lawns is spectacular, and you won’t have to elbow your way through a sea of people just to get a good view." - bri cave

Overall, the experience was okay, but my expectations were a bit higher. The food was tasty, although the prices were on the expensive side. The plate used to serve the food was chipped on the edge, which wasn’t ideal, but still acceptable. Service from the staff was just average not particularly warm or attentive. We stayed for quite a while after finishing our food, and no one offered us a blanket, even though it was a cold day. I understand we could have asked, but as first-time visitors, we weren’t aware of the option. Considering the price of the food, I believe the service should have been more proactive and thoughtful. The highlight of this place is definitely the view, it’s one of the best features they offer. Apart from that, the overall experience was just so-so. I’d recommend it to people who want a nice photo opportunity, maybe for a one-time visit.

Fantastic First Stop in Cape Town! As a traveller from Australia on my first day in Cape Town, The Lawns at the Roundhouse was the perfect introduction to this incredible city. The views are absolutely stunning – a backdrop of mountains and ocean that’s hard to beat. The atmosphere was lively with a great mix of locals and visitors, creating a fun and welcoming vibe. The service was excellent from start to finish – friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful, especially for someone new to the area. The food was solid and reasonably priced, but the standout was definitely the drinks – fresh, vibrant, and perfect for a warm Cape Town afternoon. I was lucky to have a local friend with me who knew to bring me to this gem of a spot – and I’m so glad they did. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off my Cape Town adventure. Highly recommended!

Stunning views and location! A few members of staff were quite rude - I was dining alone and had a nice table with a great view as I arrived early and in the middle of eating my lunch they asked me to move so another table back from the view. Was a very strange and awkward encounter especially as there were at least 20 other tables available. The food is nice (not amazing but you come for the views). The atmosphere was great - they had an aperol spritz event on with lots of activities!

Visited The Lawns for my birthday lunch with friends and family. We were hosted by Athabile what a wonderful experience and service from her and her team. The kids were well taken care of at the play area, and the rest of bunch as well. The food was very lovely, didn’t take forever to be served and in all she made sure that we get the nicest view and sitting. She is an asset to the establishment. I hope the team recognises her craft.

This is one of my favourite places to visit in Cape Town. The views are spectacular and the general vibe is warm and festive. I had my baby shower at this location and my guests loved the experience very much. I introduce everyone new to this spot. Highly recommend ❤️

Great place with poor service. Hostess killed the experience. The hostess has Malevola’s energy. Antipathy and rudeness resumes the attitude. Just asked for a table under the shadow she gave a straight no go then kept it empty for 2 hours until I left. The point is not the empty table, but the rudeness in the air. Elegance rules the world. Don’t recommend and will never come back. Kindness and happiness is all we need for a Sunday lunch. And that is all they can’t deliver. The food is poor as well. Same menu than US fast food chains restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe, KFC (chicken is really worse) TGI Fridays or Wendies. The hostess must learn to care more about customers experience and less about her petite poire hated don with the angry face. A smile on the face is so welcomed. We come for happiness. Not for disrespect. If I owned this placed I’d revied my representatives staff for sure. Just can’t say this was the awfullest experience in CT because Christine save the service and the day. Thanks god we find angels in the road.

Food was really not that great. Wilted lettuce. No steak knives for the steaks. We had to wait for a lifetime. Managers were just not welcoming. The staff really tried and they are nice but there’s like 2 people serving 12 tables. I don’t know what the buzz was about this place. Was really not worth it. Rather pick a different spot.

We had a truly wonderful experience at The Lawns! The view was breathtaking, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. A special thank you to NIKITA, who made our visit even more memorable with her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail. She was incredibly warm and attentive throughout. Highly recommend this place – and if you’re lucky, you’ll be served by Nikita too!
