The 22 Best Restaurants In Cape Town 2024

"The Lawns is a nearly entirely locals-only joint hidden in the forest at the foot of Table Mountain that unfortunately tends to fly under most first-time visitors’ radar. Don’t make that same mistake. Head here for spectacular views of Camps Bay accompanied by laid-back seating and a simple menu of South African fusion food—think deep-fried squid, Mediterranean chicken pizza, and Asian glazed buffalo wings. The sunset at The Lawns is spectacular, and you won’t have to elbow your way through a sea of people just to get a good view." - bri cave

My family and I decided to have lunch at The Lawns and I must say the aesthetic was amazing! I love the nature and greenery around us. Our waiter was so kind and hands on! I forgot his name but very sweet boy. The food wasn’t that great. I know restaurants that are waaaay cheaper than this restaurant, that sells more succulent beef burgers. The beef was quite dry and chewy. The cocktails were a 10/10! My cousins also commented that the food wasn’t that great and they can do better. Overall, the service and the atmosphere made up for the food!

Had an incredible afternoon at the lawns! The views were stunning, but more importantly the service was top notch. Our server was Kegan and he was so friendly and kind. He talked to us and gave some great recommendations and also was just very friendly which made us feel extremely welcome. We were visiting from another country and we were made to feel like family there. Can’t wait to visit next time!

We visited The Lawns this afternoon and were very disappointed with the overall experience. When we arrived, we were told there were no shaded tables available because everything was “reserved,” even though I had called earlier and was told they do not take reservations. A hostess seated our group of six at a four-seater table opposite the pizza oven. found a manager I think his name was Alistair, who was helpful and magically arranged a table. (Not sure why they reserve tables at 14:00 for 18:00) The food was POOR and the leadership was lacking. Our pizzas arrived undercooked, thin, and doughy, not worth the price at all. My daughter’s “chicken burger - with out the garnish” was simply chicken strips placed on a bun, which was very disappointing. There is 1 meal I can recommend - kids chicken strips. One of the meals never arrived, and after waiting 15 minutes to deal with it. I went looking for another manager, eventually found him smoking behind the kitchen. Wrong food was then delivered to the table - sent back and then missing food arrived even after we had already asked for the bill. When we were finally given the bill, we were charged for all the food despite barely eating any of it. Only after speaking to another manager (think his name was Kyle) was the food removed and we paid for drinks only. Even the complimentary slushies promised to the kids never arrived. Poor & Frustrating experience. Overpriced Food

We had pre drinks here during sunset. The atmosphere was amazing and the views were outstanding. Talent, our waiter, made sure we were taken care of and that we were never missing anything. He provided us with outstanding service, especially considering that the place was very busy. Thank u!! 🩷🍻⛰️

Overall, the experience was okay, but my expectations were a bit higher. The food was tasty, although the prices were on the expensive side. The plate used to serve the food was chipped on the edge, which wasn’t ideal, but still acceptable. Service from the staff was just average not particularly warm or attentive. We stayed for quite a while after finishing our food, and no one offered us a blanket, even though it was a cold day. I understand we could have asked, but as first-time visitors, we weren’t aware of the option. Considering the price of the food, I believe the service should have been more proactive and thoughtful. The highlight of this place is definitely the view, it’s one of the best features they offer. Apart from that, the overall experience was just so-so. I’d recommend it to people who want a nice photo opportunity, maybe for a one-time visit.

Fantastic First Stop in Cape Town! As a traveller from Australia on my first day in Cape Town, The Lawns at the Roundhouse was the perfect introduction to this incredible city. The views are absolutely stunning – a backdrop of mountains and ocean that’s hard to beat. The atmosphere was lively with a great mix of locals and visitors, creating a fun and welcoming vibe. The service was excellent from start to finish – friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful, especially for someone new to the area. The food was solid and reasonably priced, but the standout was definitely the drinks – fresh, vibrant, and perfect for a warm Cape Town afternoon. I was lucky to have a local friend with me who knew to bring me to this gem of a spot – and I’m so glad they did. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off my Cape Town adventure. Highly recommended!
