Google
Great time night before my flight, was staying nearby at the airport hotel and needed some good food and drinks before my flight. Nice little spot near the harbor, food was tasty and drinks were cold and well blended as well

Google
We went on a Sunday and found out that the rooftop was closed because they don't have a bartender to cover. The inside bar downstairs was solid -- even got a special request drink in a Optimus Prime tiki cup, which almost made up for the rooftop bar being closed.

Google
We got here around 9:30pm and they closes 11pm and the hostess just pushed us away to the bar and she didn’t tell us that they closes the kitchen 9:45pm

Yelp
I went here for the newly redecorated rooftop bar "The Layover". I loved the decor and the branding! It was all very cute. The view was so nice and I loved how many rail-side tables they squeezed in there. I tried two drinks, the tipsy flamingo and the harbor fog. Unfortunately they just didn't taste great. The harbor fog was so acidic and actually made me feel a bit unwell later. This place is so cute and has so much potential if they tweak the drink recipes!

Yelp
Small modern bar / restaurant with pub grub. Had fried chicken wings with honey garlic sauce and a side of Brussels sprouts. The wings were 4 out of 10, a little flabby and not much flavor to the sauce (and needed carrots or celery on the side). The Brussels Sprouts were boiled then barely fried and too sulfery and boring. (The kind of Brussels that are why people don't like Brussels don't like them.) Service was OK - a refill without asking would have been nice. The place is kind of plain other than a big LED neon sign spelling out "Cunard" (props for being rainbow colors for pride - not sure if it's intentional but a nice touch.) Bathrooms are shared with the building and up a flight of stairs and down a hall, and not well marked in either direction. (Pet peeve is restaurants should have their own bathrooms in the restaurant.) Food wasn't bad, it just was not good either and I see no reason to come back.

Yelp
The head chef designing the menu needs to reevaluate their decision making. I've been a die hard Cunards patron for years, taking the poutine off the menu an incredibly ill-made decision. The head chef also changed how the pancakes are made; they used to be with the ricotta in between and tasted delicious -- today I received pancakes that were lackluster at best/presented as basic. I received syrup in a plastic container with no ricotta as mentioned on the menu description.I could have received better quality pancakes at IHOP/Dennys for like $1..... Until Cunards reverts these menu changes, I will not be returning. Hoping management can step in here to keep their long time patrons, as I've been coming here since 2021 and do not plan to come back until this is fixed.

Yelp
A great gastropub in East Boston. It's a nice interior and they do have a rooftop. I started with a Big day (or something like that, it was vodka pomegranate and lemon and was legit sooo good. I also got the tuna tartare which was the star of the show because the rice was sweet which made it stand out from others I have had. The Hoisin ribs were good just maybe a touch salty. We followed it with a salmon, shrimp and birria taco and the shrimp was my personal fav. Finished with the chocolate churros and they were awesome. The chef was kind and so was our server. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Natasha K.

Yelp
The food was cold and the breakfast was tasteless. Wasted 17 dollars. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
We were looking for a happy hour spot in Boston after realizing Tall Ship was going to be too crowded. A friend recommended Cunards nearby and the rooftop bar definitely appealed to us. When we arrived, we were able to find some barstools on the rooftop and oh my goodness, the view was incredible!! We were able to see the harbor and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We ordered a couple draft beers (they were honestly kind of small and pricey and didn't have a ton of choice so wouldn't recommend). We also ordered some snacks as well including the mixed fries and hummus trio. The fries were so good (I loved having both the sweet potato and regular fries) and the hummus was the star of the show!! We loved the pita and the different flavors of hummus were so delicious. Overall, Cunards was a solid happy hour spot!

Anna J.

Yelp
We were wandering around and were going to try Tall Ship but the line was massive so we ended up at Cunard's! We were able to get some seating on the rooftop which was great and it was not super crowded. The staff was all really nice and helpful. We were going just for light apps so we got some beers and oysters. The beers in my opinion were overpriced. It was $9 for a simple draft and that just didn't sit right considering how well priced everything else was. Either way, the oysters were also delicious! We also decided to try the hummus trio and the mixed fries and oh my god they were great. Each of the hummus choices were delicious and savory and the fries were great also. Overall, a really good experience on the rooftop and I bet for a regular meal it also super fun!

John T.

Yelp
Newly opened, rooftop view, sensational tropical drinks featuring lots of rum. Sample Menu "Sample Menu from website: Pita & Hummus Platter.....................$2.75 Cheese & Charcutterie Board..................$4 Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Dates..................$4 Cider-Glazed Wings or Traditional Hot Wings..$4 Cuban Spring Rolls........................$3.25 Roasted Beet Arancini........................$4 Grilled Eggplant Crostini.................$4.50 Blackberry & Grilled Asparagus Salad.........$4 Kalprese Salad...............................$4 Tomato & Mozzarella Salad....................$4 Tacos (shrimp, fish, carnitas).............$4.50 Pork Belly Sliders...........................$6 Cauliflower Po Boy Sliders....................$5 Bacon & Apple Slaw Burger Sliders............$6 Hot Chicken Sliders..........................$5 Maple Mustard Lamb Lollipops.................$7 Beer Battered Chicken & Waffles...............$5"

Yelp
I went to Cunard Tavern with a group of 40 unannounced on a Saturday & we had a fabulous time! The food was great & the bartender made sure we were all happy

Alexandra W.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised by these oysters - the sauces were delicious. I got the churros for dessert. OUT OF THIS WORLD. French fries were soggy, but the service was kind and attentive. Maybe a little bit slow but that's OK because the food made up for it.

Nancy M.

Yelp
We came here after checking out the tall ship and had a great meal. Abby was our server and could not have been more lovely. We had three different tacos (shrimp, salmon and short rib) and split the watermelon salad. Everything was great. Wish I had taken photos to post. My only comment would be that the watermelon was cut a bit too large so we had to cut it up to eat with the greens and feta it came with. No biggy.

Noel P.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood restaurant / bar & late night lounge... after 9pm bartender always puts some great music on! At brunch this week - we had Speciality cocktails & made to order mocktails - ginger beer pomegranate martinis & a hot toddy The short rib quesadilla was so flavorful, mixed fries are always awesome (potato & sweet potato) & garlic spinach

Morgan P.

Yelp
My friends have lived here in East Boston 6+ years and finally wanted to try this place out on a Saturday night, we came at about 11:45pm after a dinner at Mida nearby. The door was locked even though the sign says it closes at 1am (included a photo). The place was filled with quite a few people at the bar. A group came out so I walked inside with my friends. The bartender (wears glasses) immediately said to us "oh so you're piggybacking in huh?". I looked at him and said "the sign outside says it closes at 1am as well as online". He said, "well it's open for people who live in the neighborhood." My friends and I said, "we do live in the neighborhood." He said "well someone who came in paid me in steak." I said, "so does this come down to money?" He replied "yes." I've never experienced anything like this and honestly don't like writing bad reviews, at all. But this experience changes that. Do better. We were willing to spend good money too - for drinks. Not for a bribe to get in.

Matthew N.

Yelp
Great brunch! Walked over, no wait, food was yummy . Service a bit slow but she was so nice we didn't care. Also they got my food a bit wrong, but it was delicious. Great local place with terrific vibe. Go check it out for brunch

Richard H.

Yelp
Great Beer drinks, Lobster roll fresh n Fish n Chips filled the tummy. Music playing seems to be mixture of songs, the restrooms are upstairs we did not make roof deck. Locals spot it seems , a little worry some as I watched a Blk guy with hat and glasses amongst couple others sprinkle something into a guys wine after he went to bathroom. Other than that observation it was great spot . Will check roof deck this weekend.

Yelp
It seems like every time I go to Cunard Tavern, their menu has shrunk. Their food use to be AMAZING - for reference I posted a picture of the fish tacos they use to offer back in August 2020, so flavorful, so colorful, just made me want to go back! (Also you can see in the background the chicken and waffles they previously had on their menu that were also delicious) Flash forward to April 2024, I ordered the shrimp and salmon tacos - The red box outlines the size of the piece of salmon that was in my taco... it barely took up 1/4 of the taco it was so disappointing and neither taco really had much flavor. I also ordered fries - which looked like they were going to be nice and crispy because of how golden brown they were and they were so soggy! The service was fine - our waitress was very nice but we were served glasses of ice that barely had room for the soda itself and never got offered a refill despite finishing our drinks and all the water at the table - plus if you love soda like I do, you definitely notice it is not a name brand soda you are getting (I'd be happy to correct my review if that is wrong but either way it definitely doesn't taste that good) Overall, I hope Cunard steps up their food because the ambiance and location are amazing. Their food use to be great, hopefully some changes are made to improve it quickly.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Checked this place out while staying close to the airport. Local beer selection was varied & had great options for all tastes. It ordered the fish & chips. The fresh cut fries, fresh cod, & home made tartar sauce were exactly what I wanted. Bar tender was friendly & appropriately attentive. Will definitely check back in here on my next trip to Boston

Marissa R.

Yelp
Pros: - Service was great! They were able to accommodate my special requests. - Atmosphere is super cute. Cons: - Food was very mediocre and bland. My partner ordered the chicken & waffles; chicken was crispy but dry/bland. We both agreed the waffle was perfect texture but also pretty bland (no vanilla/cinnamon or anything). The hash browns were unseasoned (not even salt or pepper). - Price was kind of high ($50ish bucks for food we weren't really satisfied with) Unfortunately we won't be coming again.

Yelp
If you've ever wondered what a Barnacle tastes like on the bottom of the boat in Boston, make sure to taste the seafood from this place. The owner should do the whole town a favor and throw in the towel. He's not fooling anyone. If ZERO stars was an option it would be done. This is a POOR excuse for an establishment. After CONSECUTIVE failed managers, you'd think he'd shell out some cash for someone who knows what they're doing but no. I brought people for A DRINK because the only good thing about this place is its location...but the staff was so drunk behind the bar they didn't even know when we showed up or what to charge us when we left because they genuinely couldn't remember what they poured. At this point it seems like they want to collect bad reviews on this app. I've ever seen a place rise from the dead as many times as I have Cunard tavern. Do NOT go here if you're trying to enjoy your day. WHAT A JOKE. Where is bar rescue when you need it? I've seen people over served I've seen the management wheeled out in an ambulance cuz she's so drunk she couldn't even know where she was. I've watched innocent out-of-town people get cut off "just because" and I've also seen this place lock the door on a Friday because they don't want people coming in. Which is ironic because they went through the trouble of laminating their hours of the window . Constant innocence is the only reason they continue to have new customers but let me tell you. The food is trash, the bartenders are trash and nothing good comes out of here. Not even a good BM after you eat cuz 50/50 you're getting food poisoning here. Disgusting.

Yelp
After winding up here maybe a dozen times over the past two years, the time has finally come to give Cunard the two star review it sorely deserves. They are lucky enough to be one of the only restaurants proximate to Jeffries Point and the high-rise developments near the water. That puts them well positioned to be a hip gastropub, and there is really no reason it should be more complicated than that. But they have demonstrated consistently irredeemable kitchen work over many visits. The chicken is always dry as the particleboard in their patrons' IKEA furniture. The burger patties are so tasteless that eating one feels like being hit with a PETA psyop. The menu itself is inspired but almost nothing delivers. It's the Netflix original of gastropubs. Insult to injury is the adoption, by a restaurant serving a customer base composed entirely of recent transplants, of the catchphrase "Authentically Eastie." It is time for me, as a man, to stand up and say I've had my limit. I will forsake simple proximity. I will go further. And I will eat better.

Yelp
Good atmosphere! My waitress Christen was awesome! Thanks for all the laughs and yummy food. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
A definite destination for a traveler like me. I took a stroll from the Hilton - Logan to check on this newer tavern in a very traditional East Boston neighborhood. I walked in and seated myself at the intimate bar and was greeted by Nicole my amazing bartender/host for the evening. She was quick to pour a nice hazy IPA from Belleflower and a Tullamore Dew back. Next I ordered my food and stuck to the lighter fare. Anthony is the chef here and he takes his food seriously. The traditional pub fair is definitely unique and upscale. I started with the Cuban Spring Rolls with lots of unctuous pork on a bed of stone ground mustard. Afterwords, I migrated to a bowl of Lobster Bisque which was hot and satisfying. Finally I had the chicken wings which had a chili cider glaze and topped with thinly sliced Granny Smiths to break up the heat and provide that crunch found in the usual bland carrots and celery. I'll definitely be back when in Boston.

Yelp
Stopped in with my wife Saturday morning for brunch. We started with the bacon wrapped dates which were amazing. My wife got a salad which she really liked. I got a breakfast sandwich. Sausage and cheese on a croissant with the cheesy hashbrowns. When someone offers cheesy hashbrowns... you have to get them. Very disappointed, no flavor, totally lacked any seasoning. Any salt and pepper would have made it amazing. I ordered my sandwich with American and it came with Swiss. I will say the croissant was buttery and delicious lots of sausage just not the right cheese. We sat outside and it was hot. The server never came back to check on the food. ( I would have asked for salt & pepper). Being hot and sunny I never got a refill of my water. We left... might be back, has potential but execution was poor on our visit.

Caroline C.

Yelp
Really amazing food, it comes out so fast and is great quality. I had a group of 7 here and the service was attentive and the food was excellent all around. Highly suggest the mussels (huge hit with the whole group), the duck, and the burgers. Seriously can't go wrong with this place, highly suggest.

Evan T.

Yelp
I am not one to add a bad review, my parents owned a restaurant and I have worked in the food industry myself; with that being said i strongly urge the managers/owners to consider the reviews on this page. I have been here twice. The first time was around 2022 and I was entirely unimpressed with the food. I decided to try it out again a week or so ago because it seemed from social media there had been chef changes and that the restaurant was headed in a good direction. I planned a night out with my fiancé and I was honestly shocked to feel that the experience had gotten worse. There seemed to be a lot of tension with the servers who seemed miserable. I am sure that is from the stress of someone above them. The food was mediocre at best- plated beautifully but lacking in flavor and cooked carelessly ignoring any preferences my fiancé and I had instructed on. For such a beautiful destination this is a true waste, it's an insult to the potential of the space. With some good management and improved food this could be so great!

Cj J.

Yelp
So if you're flying out of Logan at some ridiculously early hour and don't want to eat in the hotel - Cunards Tavern is a nice sit down meal with good beer and drinks and not too crowded. Yelp initially sent me to "The Quiet few" but it was standing room only. So they directed me here and I am glad they did! Scallops were tender and the touch of bacon and sweetness was a nice touch! The burger was actually rare as I requested! Great quality grind. Ok now the cons. Seating arrangements need a little attention- single seating next to elevated bar seating was mildly annoying so the bar seat next to me spent the entire hour bitching about her boyfriend right in my left ear- pretty certain I have lost some hearing. Could have done without the annoying rap music blaring a bit too loud. Be warned it is still Boston so parking is the usual nightmare!

Grace P.

Yelp
I've been to Cunards a couple of times and it never disappoints! The food and drinks are always amazing and the atmosphere is great. The chef and staff is always so kind and helpful, you're never left waiting for too long! My standout favorites are the Tuna Tartare (coming from someone who does not like fish normally), the burgers, the calamari (the best I've ever had) and the short rub sliders. Overall its a great place for a casual but intimate dinner and you'll always leave satisfied and wanting to come back soon!

Kendall D.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and I think the substandard ratings come down to this: it depends what you order. Certain menu items miss the mark: the brunch cheesy hash browns are neither cheesy nor brown; the ramen on the dinner menu was not the savory bowl of flavor I was hoping for. BUT! Any burger I've gotten, whether breakfast or dinner, has been cooked perfectly to order and seasoned well. The Cuban Spring Rolls are unexpected but delicious, definitely try them! The beer list is ever-changing and always has something interesting and fun to try. The cocktails are also good! I think if you come for more of the American/bar food and apps you're more likely to leave happy. The atmosphere and staff are amazing, no complaints there! In the evenings it gets very loud, just fyi you may need to shout your order to your server!

Caroline T.

Yelp
Ordered the Steak Frites & asked for them to cook it medium rare. They brought them out medium well boarding on well done. When I asked them to remake them our poor server seemed so nervous to ask the chef to remake them. After she went back into the kitchen I could hear the "chef" yelling at her (he sounded like a 20 year old frat boy so unsure about that??). In the end I got my new dish & it was just fine. Nothing to write home about. But the attitude of the "chef" was awful & I feel so horribly for everyone who has to work with him.

Joseph C.

Yelp
Great beer selection spoiled by the worst service. I have been a few times and had fond memories. Today, my wife and I decided to kill some time before our flight. We were seated and then...nothing. After 10 minutes of waiting a hostess brought over some water and said she would bring a waitress over, but after 10 more minutes that still hadn't produced anyone to at least take our drink order. Staffing issues are everywhere - but from our seat we could see every server in the house standing around, tapping away on their phone, or outside on a smoke break. What made things worse was I told my wife to ignore the negative reviews (3.8 on Resy) because people tend to only post when they have something to complain about. Well I guess you can put me into that camp.

Ethan A.

Yelp
3.5 stars. This was my first time coming here after a friend recommendation. I thought the food was pretty adequate. I ordered the Samuel Cunard Burger medium ($19). This is basically a burger with fried clams on top and tartar sauce (in place of Mayo presumably). I thought it was very good, albeit very heavy. The beef was cooked perfectly as I asked. It was very juicy and the clams were nice and crunchy. A little gimmicky sure, but a good one. French and sweet potato fries came on the side. The French fries were very good, the sweet potato fries were only so-so. My friend ordered the blackberry and asparagus salad ($18) and absolutely loved it. We shared an order of honey cornbread ($3). This was mostly a waste of money, as the cornbread was pretty flavorless and certainly didn't taste like honey. The beer menu is pretty great! The service was really good considering there was only one server for basically all tables. I think I would come back, but likely try something different.

Jillian L.

Yelp
The "little girl" wearing the cute skort and tank top was an exceptional food runner. We had a wonderful conversation about the history of East Boston, because who knew there was so much to know! I was shocked that this petite adult woman had a brain! Surprisingly, the hot weather didn't prevent her from being able to think straight, probably because she was able to wear what made her comfortable. Our waitress was fantastic, and we had a wonderful conversation about her tattoos and the meanings behind them. The food was great, as always. My wife and I will definitely be back because the people here are just so friendly and HAPPY!

Sarah C.

Yelp
I have lived right by Cunards for years and tried it for the first time last night, I had the the Fettucine special (can't remember the name but it's truffle and has mushrooms)... so amazing, loved it! My husband and I had some really great local beers. The service was pretty good, everyone was nice and the food came out fast. The only thing I'll say is I wish their rooftop was open would've been great to see the view.

East B.

Yelp
I would give this place a -3 if I could. If you want food, drink, and entertainment, this place IS NOT IT. Better off getting a wrap or meal at any other restaurant and even Portside Market. Fries are soggy, bruschetta was laughable, shrimp tacos have 1 to maybe 2 rock shrimp. An Egg in the jar??? What? ...This isn't a tavern. If it were, it would have BLT's, better comfort food, a menu that didn't include strange and underwhelming entrees, and one that currently has brutal over and under cooked burgers in the Old eastie and New eastie. The Albany burger, the spring rolls, most popular item in the chicken sandwich, and the old staff are all DEARLY MISSED. What happened to this place since the old Chef/GM left? 7065 decibel music, and local bartenders, don't do enough to mask the imperfections that force people her after Quiet Few, D'Parma, Mida, Kelley's, Pazza, Smokeshop, Mexicali, Reelhouse are all booked out for weeks and they have to settle for this or McDonald's. Drinks are good thanks to the tabs missing drinks, to hold people in the building. Much more consistent options in and around here for food and entertainment. Sending in influencers doesn't change quality, only misleads the people who then leave very disappointed when taste doesn't match the photoshoot. If you are looking to sit alone and need an empty loud space, this is the place you want to be!

Ita D.

Yelp
Great spot, drinks and vibe. They have good music too and food. Will be coming back for sure

Victoria R.

Yelp
Went for a friends birthday brunch. Drinks were slow to be served when the restaurant was empty. They brought the drinks out two at a time for a party of 8. With a good 5 minutes in between each delivery. Server did not know much about the menu, but it was a new version the day we had reservations so that could be part of it. However, the drinks on the new menu were not yet available (ingredients weren't in stock) so we couldn't try any of those and had to order from an old menu. Server also wasn't sure if my omelet came with home fries. I ordered a coffee and it took 30 minutes to be delivered to the table. No exaggeration. I ordered an omelet without cheese due to an allergy and I was served one with cheese. In addition, the omelet and home fries were bland and lacked flavor. Ordered their homemade donuts and they were rock hard. Couldn't even bite into them. Plates were not cleared throughout the dining process leaving the table crowded and messy. The majority of other reviews for this place are amazing so thinking I might have just gone on an off day or had a new server? Wish I could say I'd recommend this place to a friend, but was very unimpressed and wouldn't choose to go back.

Craig P.

Yelp
2nd closest option to my house, I've tried a bunch of times to like the place though I can't for some reason. Staff are mixed in quality, food is a 3/5 best, and the drinks wouldn't match the standard of a cocktail bar, neither that of a good restaurant. Bland unfortunately....

Beth B.

Yelp
This place is underneath the yoga studio I go to, and I've tried it a couple times. I'm a pescatarian, so of course I wish they had more options for me. And that there wasn't bacon in their shrimp and grits!! But the food I've tried has been good. They have a cool little rooftop too!

Michelle D.

Yelp
I live very close to Cunard tavern and have tried it on numerous occasions. There's a strange period between brunch and dinner where the hostess will seat you and then you'll find out from your waiter that the kitchen is closed for a couple hours - wish we hadn't been seated. Overall very affordable, very convenient since there's limited options in Eastie, and amazing food.

Bailee P.

Yelp
What a cool bar! Came here for dinner with my parents last night. I was unaware it turned into a club at about 8pm so the music was blaring. We could barely hear each other. The food was good but priced a little higher than I think it was worth. Everyone had a good meal and our waiter was great as well.

Christopher A.

Yelp
I've been here about 100 times and this place doesn't let you down. The atmosphere and vibe are absolute 10/10. Does get a bit loud but their music playlists are great imo. Drinks are different for sure but you really can't go wrong with any of them, they're always rotating drinks. Food is A1. Staff are all great people who are friendly and excellent at their job.

Andy B.

Yelp
This is the best bar in Boston. Great food and drinks. The best part about Cunard is the service, particularly the bartender. They are polite and attentive - they always are happy to answer questions. Nahhhhhhht.

Marvina P.

Yelp
Amazing quality ingredients. Chicken pasta and paella were incredible! Swanky interior with nice bar area.

Christine M.

Yelp
I've tried this spot a few times now and I love it! Everything has always been fresh and delicious. Both my take-out and dine-in experiences were great. One of my all time favorites is the bacon wrapped figs

Frédérik L.

Yelp
Been there for drinks on numerous occasions. The drinks experience is great! Drinks are delicious, bartending staff is friendly and welcoming. Well lit, the music is perfect for this location and what one might be looking for when patched for a good drink and/or beer.

Olivia D.

Yelp
Mediocre food for what you're paying for. Burger was undercooked, tater tots were good. Biggest perk was there was no line for a table!

Syanna L.

Yelp
Seems like fun atmosphere here. We got Crispy Pork Belly, that was ok, not as good or crispy as I expected. The fried oyster sliders were good. Didn't like how we made reservations but still had to end up standing there waiting while others after us got seated. The drink is such small potion, 3 sips and I killed it. But our waiter was very cool and nice.

Nidhi A.

Yelp
Came back for brunch with guests, we were so excited and I've talked this place up. Such a disappointment. Our waitress was awful - not friendly, took her 15 mins to even acknowledge our presence, finally brings us coffee and it took about 35 mins until she came back to ask us if we need anything else. Food took 40 mins to get to us - this is BRUNCH. All tables next to us got food well before us...I'll probably not recommend this and go next door instead for guests. Chicken and waffles came - so bland and terrible compared to what I've eaten for their lunch/dinner menu. Cunard, you let me down!

Maggie P.

Yelp
Had a delicious chicken sandwich and a beer here with my friend. Service was great, beer selection was awesome and we enjoyed the ambiance. We will be going back!
