A rising indie roaster known for nuanced lattes and a warm, owner-led vibe. Topped Axios’s Triangle coffee ranking and profiled by Raleigh Magazine; a new standalone café is in the works while the Gussie’s bar continues to pour.

Coming to The Left Hook is officially a staple Raleigh experience! Incredible coffee and even better people. I am lucky enough to live in walking distance and have been coming since the doors opened early 2024. You can tell by briefly chatting with the founder Kristin how carefully crafted each drink is; and of course the coffee speaks for itself! Whether you’re out on a bike ride, just driving through town, or a local looking for the next go-to cappuccino in Raleigh, you have to stop here. 🙌☕️ On top of that, their classic breakfast sandwiches (I love the bacon, egg and cheese + a hashbrown) or breakfast burrito are filling enough for a grab and go breakfast.

My favorite coffee shop ever <3 the staff is so kind and personable, so stopping in is always a joy! Everything on their menu is top tier, and their seasonal drinks are creative and delicious. I love their signature B.B.L. (Big Boy Latte)!! It is no competition that Left Hook is the best coffee shop around.

If you are serious about your coffee, Left Hook is your shop. The owner, Kristin, focuses first on the bean and the roast, preserving the characteristics of the origin. She then ensures her staff, who are all fantastic people, know how to pull espresso shots that preserve the care she puts into the beans. I think the difference here from some other small shops is that the person crafting your drink cares about the quality and not just getting a paycheck. You can taste that difference. If what I wrote above sounds ridiculous to you and you just need a good cuppa to wake up, well this is also your spot. Indoor/outdoor seating. Good music. Great people.

Cool lounge-type place built into an apartment complex around corner from NC state. About 7 tables (3 high, 2 booths, 2 for lounge chairs) for gathering, they block off some of the restaurant area during the day. Good light, across from residential. Maple cinnamon latte is awesome 10/10. Americano solid too.

The shop and the atmosphere are such a cute and dainty vibe. Love being able to come here and relax or get homework done as there is a lot of areas to sit and work both inside and outside. the coffee is super good, and you can't go wrong with anything in my opinion. The cold brew is especially good and love that they implement punch cards for a drink after filling up the card.

Google
I’m thrilled that a new local coffee shop has opened next to NC State!! I discovered The Left Hook Coffee because it’s right next to my favorite brunch spot—what a lucky find! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. (They have pictures of their regulars' pets on the fridge, so make sure to look for the lowkey cat!🐈) I tried the iced latte and hot Americano, and both were fantastic.

Such a cute coffee shop! It had a very warm, welcoming atmosphere and really nice batista. The coffee was delicious and it can't wait to go again. Would highly recommend the maple cinnamon latte!

Good coffee. I do feel that 2 of the barristas were a bit spcially awkward. Maybe its the nyc accent? It's ok because you can tell they put in a ton of love into coffee. Really good coffee. 👍

Yelp
Spent $9.48 on an oat milk flat white and a cardamom honey cappucino. We parked up front on Morgan street with no issue. The coffee bean tastes themselves are outstanding. I tried oat milk for only the second time ever and i really liked it. The oat milk flat white has a stronger distinct coffee taste to me than a regular milk latte. The two baristas, owner and I had a lively discussion about oat milk in latte's. They clearly have a passion for coffee and have a thorough understanding of all aspects of making it. The cardamom honey cappucino was excellent. The service was quick, efficient and warm. I feel i have written a review before so not sure what happened to it. But Left Hook has become a regular stop for us this year. They have an excellent breakfast sandwich. They also offer baked goods from Yellow Dog bakery. They also roast their own beans and I recall trying them all. I ended up liking the Columbia Narino at the time which had a french roast boldness with chocolate notes. The ambiance is friendly and a neighborly inside the Gussies restaurant. The staff is warm and focused on quick friendly service with a focus on coffee expertise.

Yelp
A perfect pre-flight hangout spot! We were in Raleigh for just a short time and looking for a chill spot to hang out with friends before heading to the airport, and Left Hook Coffee did not disappoint. We picked it because of the great reviews, and it totally lived up to the hype. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which set a great tone right away. Inside, the vibes were super relaxed and cool, great music playing, not too loud, just the right energy for catching up and soaking in the moment. We grabbed our drinks and decided to sit outside at the patio tables. It was a beautiful day, and being able to enjoy the weather while people-watching and chatting with friends made it such a memorable way to wrap up our time in Raleigh. If you're looking for a cozy, laid-back spot with good coffee, great atmosphere, and even better people, Left Hook is the move.

Yelp
The coffee here was fantastic. The barista really knows what they were doing. The latte is at the right temperature, the espresso was pulled correctly, the milk was textured well, and the barista was nice. It's not the GOAT latte, but it's definitely one the few good coffee places I've had. The inside looks pretty cool as well. Overall I'd definitely comeback if I'm in the area.

Yelp
What a gem!! The Left Hook takes over Gussie's bar during the day. The vibe is immaculate and a wonderful place to work and sip on some delicious coffee. I'm pretty sure they even roast their own coffee which is pretty cool. The wifi is strong and their outdoor seating is super peaceful. Right now it is truly a hidden gem so you don't have to aggressively scope out a table, there are plenty to work from. They make all their syrups in house which I love. They have filter coffee, espresso drinks, and all the non coffee drinks you'd expect at a coffee shop. They also have breakfast pastries in a case from Bitten Bakery. As of right now they do fried egg Fridays where they do breakfast sandwiches on killer looking biscuits. Parking can be a bit hit or miss over here. You might get a spot right out front or may just have to walk a tiny bit. It's right next to Irregardless cafe. There is also a paid lot nearby. Highly recommend checking this amazing local spot out!

Yelp
My favorite coffee stop while in Raleigh! Very inviting space with a cute aesthetic! The chairs were so comfortable and such an enjoyable place to share a coffee with a friend or a good book. The service was also incredible! They were friendly, had great recommendations, and hand delivered our coffees! We both ordered the bbl and were very impressed with how good it was! Will definitely be back when I'm in town!

Yelp
See the review below this one for a perfect description! Found this place by chance, and will be here at the beautiful outdoor tables every day. What a beautiful environment, with delicious coffee. Some really nice pastry options (including my favorite, Spinach and Feta croissant). Lovely owner serving and chatting with customers.

Yelp
paid 6 dollars for a tea just to hang out and do work, and apparently they turn off the wifi during lunch hours.
