DC's New Restaurant Openings - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"The Library Speakeasy is a bar hidden behind a bookshelf at Lupo Pizzeria. Come for literary-inspired cocktails like the Carrie (a nod to Stephen King) and tomato-tinis named after Tom Clancy, plus small plates like marinated olives and tinned fish. The bar holds "quiet hours" Sunday through Wednesday from 8pm to midnight." - omnia saed

The brunch menu is delicious. It's small but mighty. I highly suggest whatever seasonal French Toast they are offering. Additionally, the atmosphere is cozy and the service is great! It's the little hidden brunch gem of the South Side if you ask me. Additionally, if you're just looking to grab a cocktail, the bar is really nice as well.

The Library on Carson instantly gave moody, loungey vibes the moment I walked in — exposed brick, cozy lighting, and an ambiance that feels both upscale and relaxed. It’s perfect for a night out when you want something low-key but still stylish. I loved the creative small plates (flavorful and sharable), and the upstairs lounge area was a nice surprise, complete with a pool table, and chill rooftop seating. The whole space feels thoughtfully curated for date nights, group hangs, or even solo vibes with a cocktail in hand. If you’re into cocktails, cozy energy, and a vibe-forward atmosphere, this spot is so worth checking out. Pittsburgh needs more places like this. ✨🍸

the cocktails here are sooo yummy and, for the most part, a very good price. I also like how creative they are! The calamari was the perfect texture and crispiness! I would def order again. The burger was delicious but (my preference) needed more sauce. The margherita pizza was DELICIOUS and absolutely the star of the show... everyone should order the margherita pizza you like that type! The ambiance was cool, trendy but also casual. I'd def come back here (especially for some cocktails and that pizza)

Adorable bar / restaurant right on East Carson St in the South Side.  The menu is compiled of American fare and the dishes are named after books & stories which is super cute!  They have daily specials, offer lunch & dinner as well as weekend brunch!  The menu is very diverse and has a ton of options, good for a group with different tastes.  They have beer, a full bar and a specialty cocktail list.  Tried the Don Quixote (choice of tequila or mezcal, lime, honey syrup, bitters & a Tajik rum) and the War & Peace (their spin on a Moscow Mule). For food, had the Crab Rangoon Dip from their prologue (appetizer) menu, the wings & garlic grilled cheese bites from their table of contents (small plates) & the Pittsburgh salad from the epilogue (soups & salads). The ambiance is very cozy and intimate with amazing décor.  The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful with picking the best menu items (it was so hard to pick what to get!).

What a lovely, elegant restaurant and bar! I had some amazing cocktails and delicious food. Perfect for all occasions since they have a party room upstairs as well. So aesthetic for pictures as well. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our dinner and date night here <3

The Library on Carson is SUCH a cute spot to grab a cocktail and some shareables with a group of friends, a date night, etc. I was totally blown away by the new menu and decor under the new ownership! Needless to say, I'll be back very soon!

Had such a nice time at the Library on Carson to catch up with a friend. The library vibes made the ambiance so cozy and intimate. The food and drinks were wonderful. Cierra was our server and took great care of us during our visit. Emily stopped over at our table as well during our visit- the staff was so friendly and helpful. We started with 2 glasses of Prosecco that were a special that evening ($4 each), shrimp cocktail and oysters. Everything was SO good and so fresh. After our starters, we had truffle fries with parmesan, Brussel sprouts, garlic, grilled cheese bites and the honey pig pie. Their menu had a variety of options that anyone can find something good. They have daily specials every night: Monday: Wing Night - $0.75 Cent Wings Tuesday: $1 Oysters $1 Shrimp $4 Prosecco Wednesday: Half-Off Burgers Thursday: College Night $3 Wells/Claws $10 Select Pizza Saturday/Sunday: Brunch $15 Bottomless Mimosa They have happy hour specials and are available on Uber eats and takeout. There is a perfect space upstairs for private events and also have pool and darts! I would highly recommend the library on Carson to all! Will definitely be back again. Thanks for the wonderful night.

Solid bar with some American food options. Nothing too exceptional, but a cool location on Carson and pretty well made bar food. I got to try out their chicken bacon ranch sandwich with their bar chips. It was very solid. Definitely not anything too special but not bad. The chicken itself was a bit dry and rubbery, but still decent. Not seasoned too heavily. I would have liked some more ranch, but the bacon was very good, and so was the bread. The chips were solid too. They give you a decent portion. You can also swap the chips for fries for a small upcharge. But, they were crispy and seasoned well, so I enjoyed them. All in all, a decent bar spot. Solid food and solid place in general.

Crab Rangoon Dip was fine but really did not have much taste, garlic grilled cheese bites were delicious & the salad was super good and very big. The ambiance is very cozy and intimate with amazing décor.  The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful with picking the best menu items (it was so hard to pick what to get!).

Yelp
The avocado toast was delicious, and the sweet potato fries were amazing. Bottomless mimosas for $18 were a steal! Our server was super kind and kept our glasses full--they were never empty, lol. The only downside is it can get a little loud, making it hard to hear sometimes, but overall, a great place to enjoy brunch.

Yelp
Went here on wing night (75¢ each) and it was so good!! Our waitress was great and I love the vibe here - great date spot! Wings were really good and it was such a good deal.

Yelp
This space is really cute!! Love the books theme and the staff was pretty nice. We were here later in the night so the kitchen was only doing fried food. We liked their fries a lot. Friends got a lot of the cheese fries and the loaded fries. The drinks were fun and creative and named after books. I really liked my mezcal drink and they had fun butter beer drinks. The seasonal menu is cute and they did themed drinks for halloween. I think that drinks are very reasonably priced here. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for a cute bar and a spot for food in the south side!

Yelp
Officially a regular here again. Under new ownership, I've explored the menu over the past year and really enjoy the Wednesday half off smash burgers and Monday 65 cent wings with unique flavors such as elote (almost a street corn crema) and Smokey blue that is great for dipping fries. Bartenders are attentive and friendly. Owner is always seeking feedback. Really hope this place is doing well!

Yelp
One of my favorite places in pgh that I'd love to gatekeep but more people should know about it! The library always has amazing deals whether it's their $12 bottomless brunch (really!), $1 oyster and $4 Prosecco night (not kidding!), or the .65¢ wing night, which is why I stopped in the most recent time for Monday wing night. There are so many wing flavors to choose from but I usually like a dry rub or this lemon pepper sauce the best. The wings themselves are always really tender and cooked perfectly. I come in all the time for their happy hour and I love getting their $5 house wines or cocktails. The cocktail in this picture is the Annabelle Lee which was really good - sweet but also strong. Plus it's purple! Trivia nights on Wednesday's are also pretty fun and this place is great for groups. Although, if you're bringing a ton of people definitely call ahead to reserve a table.

Yelp
Really good food and cocktails, with an excellent happy hour (4-7pm!) and daily specials. The owners came around and spoke with everyone there to make sure they were having a good experience, which I appreciated. The overall experience is an elevated version of the original Library. Highly recommend stopping by and checking it out!

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere, the food is outstanding! We had seared scallops with balsamic glaze- to DIE FOR!! We also LOVED the Honey Pig Pizza! The sauce was sweet, the crust thin, the toppings just right. Delightful team are welcoming and great hosts! Bonus points: two NA beer selections. Green bonus points: brown paper to go boxes!!

Yelp
First time visiting The Library today. Arrived about a half hour before brunch and bottomless mimosas ended. It's an interesting little spot on Carson Street. It has a big bar area, overall it's not a huge place. We ordered off the brunch menu. My wife ordered eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes. I ended up with the hangover smash burger. It was a double patty, smash burger with a sunny side egg and bacon. It came with a very small side of potatoes. There was a decent sized crowd when we arrived, many of which seems to have taken advantage of the bottomless mimosas. Our server was very nice, but seemed to have a lot on her plate. The food arrived extremely quickly. We both enjoyed what we had and will return, next time perhaps earlier to enjoy the mimosas.

Yelp
My sister and I learned that this place was recently renovated, and we knew we had to check it out! We've walked past this place many times too and we have always wanted to try it. We walked in and the place was very nicely decorated. The atmosphere was very relaxed with comfy chairs and even a fireplace. The drink and food menu was very reasonably priced too. I think you can seat yourself at the tables and they will take your order, but I'm not 100% sure. They took our orders at our table on a Thursday night, but if it is super busy, I'm not sure what their policy is. In the future, I will definitely be going back for drinks and maybe an appetizer. This place is more of a drink place than a dinner place in my opinion.

Yelp
Went here for some late night drinks. The espresso martini was so yummy! The bartender was very pleasant and attentive. Absolutely love a late night bar that comes over and gives the whole table water and keeps refilling water throughout the night! The simple things go a long way. The music selection was fun and there were touch tunes if you had any requests! Great place to take a group of friends when you want to be out but still be able to get a table and have conversation!

Yelp
I was very surprised by the Library on Carson. The decor and vibe of the place is very trendy/ classy, a lot different from the other bars around it! The have a decent amount of of seating as well as some cute couch chairs near a fireplace. It was pretty busy when we went which is always great to see for a new place. I had a greek salad and a glass of Sauvignon blanc. The salad was decent and the wine was great! Our server was also very nice as well. I went with my sister and boyfriend and we all agreed we need to go back! Definitely a great addition to the South Side!

Yelp
My friends and I love it here! Fun space inside--cozy without being cramped. Great menu with lots of options. We love coming on Wednesdays for trivia and also half price burgers. The happy hour is sweet too and servers are always really kind. Perfect spot to catch up with friends!

Yelp
My friends and I went to The Library for their "College Night" on Thursdays! They have some great deals, like $3 well drinks and $10 pizzas, but it was honestly kind of dead. The space isn't huge, but even with that in mind, I think that there were only 2 other tables filled with people. The service was great though! The waitress was very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed throughout the night! We got the cheap drinks, so they were nothing special (vodka sodas and vodka cranberries), but their drink menu had a bunch of specialty cocktails that were looked really unique! I would totally come back to this place for a more chill night out!

Yelp
I had such high hopes coming here for brunch last weekend & it was just...not great. The ambiance/vibe was cool, but that was one of the few positives about our experience. The hostess had a weird difficulty understanding that we were a group of four and therefore would need four seats? She tried to seat us at three bar seats & then a two top without getting other seats. She then vanished & we had to ask another worker for extra chairs. We then sat for about 10 minutes before getting any menus. Luckily, once we got our regular waitress, service did get better. We ordered the bottomless mimosas, and service with them was very sporadic. Sometimes they would come right away when you finished your glass, other times we would sit for 10 minutes with an empty glass unable to get anyone's attention. The mimosas themselves were super sweet (I can't put my finger on what it was with them), and they varied in composition dramatically from pour to pour. Food service was extremely slow in the time between ordering food & when it came out, but when it did it was hit or miss. The breakfast burger & breakfast potatoes were actually really good! The egg was perfectly runny & the potatoes were crispy & really flavorful. The chicken & waffles was missing the hot honey, however, but because service was so slow we didn't want to wait to ask for a fix. Unfortunately, within an hour or so after leaving, we all got really bad stomach aches. We think it was from the extremely sugary mimosas. I was excited for a new brunch spot, but we won't be back. Food: B Drinks: C- Service: D+ Ambiance: B

Yelp
I would overall say 3.5 if I had the option. I went for happy hour, and the deals you couldn't beat! I had a glass of Pinot Grigio but you could tell it was a cheap brand. I then switched over to the $3 white claw deal. I got the honey pig pizza, which was good but very cheesy. My friends really enjoyed the prosciutto pizza. I also got the pickle party which was delicious and so much fun as we added a pickle back shot for $3. The vibes are very cool. My main issue was the service, as the restaurant was almost empty and yet the server rarely checked up on us. We often had to flag her down when we wanted a new drink. Yelp
Great service every time. They have great happy hour and daily specials. Their espresso martini may be the best I've had! Never disappointed in their food. I have to say their wings are super crispy and well seasoned! The elote wings are beyond good.

Yelp
Went here for happy hour with my friend. We both got the half off smashburgers-they were good, but not the best I've had-great deal though! Good service.

Yelp
Amazing place to work and to eat at! The food specials are great during the week. The grilled cheese is one of the best things at the restaurant.

Christopher B.

Yelp
Loved this place back in the day. Music so loud(during dinner hours) it was ridiculous. Couldn't really talk to my daughter. Had the steak hoagie that was way more bun than hoagie. Won't be back.

Courtney K.

Yelp
Everything from the drinks to the food to the dessert were delicious! Highly recommend the crab Rangoon dip.

Yelp
Great food and service. I like the menu choices! Nice little hide away! The daily specials are always good too!

Yelp
Ham and Brie panini is amazing! The black beauty was so delicious. Great service. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great service, food, and drinks. The perfect spot for a fun and easy night out. Looking forward to going back again soon!

Yelp
Everything here was great! We went on a tuesday night which is $1 oysters and everyone with us loved the oysters. We also ordered wings, buffalo chicken pizza, and the fried pickles which were all delicious. The staff was super nice and friendly and the atmosphere was unlike any other bar or restaurant in Pittsburgh making it a super cool place to go! We will definitely be going back!

Shana S.

Yelp
Terrible, I ordered a Chicken Caesar salad to go and got the smallest salad I've ever seen. For more than $13, I at least expect a full chicken breast and more lettuce not a side salad. What a rip off!

Kevin M.

Yelp
Went here one night for drinks and sierra(spelling) was our bartender and she was awesome. Great drinks and drink recommendations. Used to come here before the remodel and the new ownership. Still has the cool library feel but the decor is better and the food and drinks were much better. Upstairs outdoor patio! Support this place!

Victoria S.

Yelp
I really want to love this place, but I've had a few sour experiences with both calling for takeout + ordering food via uber eats. No one answers the phone, and the online orders have been cancelled on multiple occasions. The food is decent (hence, wanting pickup), and the ambiance of the actual restaurant is cool. Just bummed I can't swing around the corner and enjoy their food at home.
