Having visited London a few times and fallen in love with its pub culture, I knew I had to check out the local scene in Australia while I was there for my sister’s wedding. One day, with no wedding plans scheduled, we decided to explore. We were staying in St. Kilda and made our way to the Docklands. While wandering around, we stumbled upon The Lincoln pub.
We arrived a bit early for dinner, so we grabbed a bench outside, ordered some drinks and snacks, and soaked in the relaxed vibe. Soon, more family joined us, turning it into an impromptu mini-reunion. I was pretty hungry, so I had to try the fish and chips—just to compare them with the ones I’d had in England. And wow, they did not disappoint! Generous portions and perfectly crispy, they definitely held their own.
As the workday ended, the place filled up. A group of local women sat next to us and, amused by our American accents, struck up a conversation. What followed was a fun, laughter-filled evening of shared stories, great food, and warm hospitality. It was the perfect Aussie welcome—and a reminder that the best travel memories are often unplanned.
