Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Lindenhof this past weekend, and I can't find a single thing to complain about. It was the perfect B&B experience. So relaxing, comfortable, and not stuffy or pretentious at all.
HOUSE -- The house itself looks just like the pictures -- homey and inviting. There is a communal living room, dining area and TV parlor. The lit fireplace in the living room at night added a nice, cozy touch, and was especially appreciated after coming in from the hot tub -- YES, HOT TUB! Can't tell you how fun that was on a cold, February night after a long winery tour.
ROOMS -- We stayed in the bright star room, which is upstairs. It's "steam-boat" themed, so the bed is set into the wall with a sheer curtain covering the exposed side. The room had a great vintage feel, thanks to the antique lamps, fraying books and an old-fashioned looking trunk in the corner. The queen-sized bed was incredibly snuggly and littered with big, fluffy pillows ... I seriously slept like a baby (or maybe just someone who had appreciated too much wine).
Being the nosy person that I am, I peeked into the other guests' rooms, and they were also beautifully decorated and very comfortable looking. Each room has its own style, color scheme and amenities (two of them have clawfoot jet tubs and I believe on has heated tile flooring), which probably helps repeat visits feel like unique new experiences. I enjoyed staying in an upstairs room ... it felt like we had more privacy.
(Everything seemed clean and well cared-for, and the rooms were equipped with towels, soap, shampoo & conditioner, lotion, and two very comfy and warm robes. Each room has its own bathroom and lock & key. Wi-fi is free.)
OWNERS -- The owners are a couple who have been running the Lindenhof for 15 years, so they certainly know what they are doing. They are hospitable and easy to talk to, and they know a lot about the area, both in terms of history and what to do. During the group breakfast in the morning, Debbie entertained us with hilarious stories about her most memorable guests ... receiving hundreds of guests each year, they get to meet people from all walks of life.
FOOD -- The breakfast itself was delicious and generous. They made the special cheesy "eggs Lindenhof," bacon and pancakes with caramel-maple syrup. Debbie also had fresh, homemade bread waiting for us when we originally checked in, and tea is available at all times.
LOCATION -- At the intersection of Jackson and Walnut, the Lindenhof is pretty much right in the heart of Augusta. It's walking distance from the Augusta Brewing Company, a bunch of shops, the Halcyon Spa and probably a few wineries.
ADDITIONAL NOTES -- The bright star room was probably about 10 feet by 12 feet. I thought the pictures made it seem a little bigger, but it was nice and cozy the way it was. The owners also have a small, maybe 15- or 20-pound dog named Buddy. He's very friendly and pretty well-behaved, but people with allergies should probably take note of that.
