These Are Europe’s Best Cities Right Now, According To Time Out

Described as Hoxton’s flat-roof-pub-turned-serious-club, this spot is part of London’s nightlife renaissance, transforming what sounds like a modest neighborhood pub setting into a fully fledged club experience. - Liv Kelly

Quality venue - always had a good time. Staff are super friendly and I love their cat. Jacob’s 1 star review previous to this is hilarious, clearly must’ve thought it was a bod standard pub - of course the bouncer wouldn’t care what you’ve said 🤣. Drinks good value for a venue playing electronic music (no teeny weeny 330ml cans in sight), crowd has always been solid too. I’ve started going on random nights now and has always been great! Picture taken is at 20:45 and the place already fills up!

Amazing place, me and my wife went on a Thursday night to see Dan Andrei (make sure you pre-book the tickets) and we had an absolute top notch of a night. The staff were very friendly, the bouncer was a top man (shout out to Esse), excellent sound system, great location very walkable from Shoreditch/Brick Lane, great crowd too we met so many friendly people no knobheads to be seen. I will defo will visit again when a good dj or lineup is on, true real gem of a place! 😍

Can I just say, the treatment everytime I have been here has been exemplary…. More specifically the friendliness and warmth from the staff. Ess was professional through and through. Customer service was A+. Me and my friends felt looked after. I’d go as far as saying the concern he has for the humans that come here to dance and be free, to be beyond just a job, there’s a family feel here. Thanks for making a great night, will be coming back here regularly. If you want a good night and want to be respected and appreciated then Lion and Lamb is the venue for you. Thanks Ess and also thanks to wider team. Kind regards Greg

Bit of a weird experience at this place! We were a group of 15 ish, trying to find somewhere to have a drink after a show on Sunday, around 9pm. We happened upon this place, and the guy on the door said we'd have to pay an entrance fee. He didn't seem very inviting and it definitely felt uncomfortable. When I said "This [pub] isn't my vibe", he laughed and said he didn't ask for my opinion. We left; don't think any of us will ever come here again - but hopefully they can improve their bouncers and generally be nicer to people who might've never heard of your pub before haha!

Bad vibes, rude security, shady door people. No sympathy or patience, just awful. Arrived at the venue excited to make friends and enjoy my Thursday, left the venue 5 mins later feeling disrespected and on the verge of tears 🤪 And they wonder why nightlife is dying. Go somewhere else.

Hidden and cosy. If you are around Shoreditch - come to this bar. It's usually not very busy and you can get a good seat. Owners are super chilled and when I was there they had cats and a dog around. Despite looking like a local bar, Place presented itself as a nice club with a DJ playing smooth house tracks. I would say the best quality of this bar is the crowd, which tends to be super down to earth. One thing - they don't have much selection of drinks.

Went on a Saturday night 2/8/25. Staff rude or incompetent. One fella working behind the bar (short dark hair) was absolutely mashed and got my drinks order wrong twice. The tall bar lady was able to serve right drinks, and unlike her colleague, her eyes were smaller than tea saucers. However, she was rude and would have about 3/4 puffs on her vape before serving the 8+ people waiting to be served. The actual drink selection was very limited, and the 'coke' or 'lemonade' they use as a mixer is thick syrupy crap. Totally ruined the overpriced drink. Oh, and it was a 20 pound entry to have the pleasure of all of the above. Full of laddy lads and wasters. The actual physical space is decent, and they've done a fair job at turning an old boozer into a half decent dancefloor. This is the only thing that wasn't awful.

🚇 Hoxton 🍺 £6.20 Asahi ❤️ Hoxton estate pub turned club. . The Lion & Lamb is located in the middle of the Pitfield Estate in Hoxton. The nearest station is Hoxton which is a five minute walk away. . This is a classic post war built estate pub which is a rare find in London these days. The pub closed in 2015 and reopened 2018 with an approach to move with the shift in demographic of the Hoxton/Shoreditch pub goer. . The decor here is an eclectic mix of old and new. There are oldschool wooden booth benches and worn down chesterfields to chill out on. The walls are painted black and red and there is a DJ booth at the far end of the bar. . The beer line up was pretty good, I had a pint of Asahi which was nice enough and cheaper price than usual for Asahi. . I visited around 7pm with my brother after a crawl around the area. On entering there was a charge to get in, I explained we were just popping in for a quick pint and the lady on the door kindly waived us in. We were served by a very polite fella behind the bar, we took a seat and took stock of our surroundings. We were soon joined by the pub dog Bruno, a lovely natured Staffy who was after a bit of attention which he received loads of from me and my brother. After a little deliberation my brother and I soon came to the conclusion that this was more club than pub and enjoyed our pints and the vibe here none the less. . The Lion & Lamb is a destination for fans of House, Garage and dance music, 25 years ago I couldn’t have been a regular. This place would have never survived if it continued down the traditional pub route as that type of punter just isn’t here anymore. So is this a pub? The building is, for me this place is more club than pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 22/10/22
