The Little Battersea Bakery is a cozy gem serving inventive pastries and delicious brunch fare, with friendly service that makes it a delightful spot.
"Every neighbourhood wants a bakery like Mahali. The heavy wooden door feels like a gateway into Narnia, only instead of finding snowy paths and a friendly faun on the other side, there’s an array of shiny pastries. Things like savoury, spring onion and chive scrolls make a nice breakfast to go, and the classic pain au chocolats and croissants are proudly puffed up in their prime position closest to the till. The banana bread is the real standout here—not to be mistaken for the sickly sesame praline banana bread, the classic is dense yet airy, and sweet without being too cakey. There’s a long bench to perch on if it’s not too busy, but it’s more of a pastry-and-flat-white-to-go kind of spot. The kind that you save for the weekend, when you can savour it with a walk in nearby Battersea Park. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Rianne Shlebak
